Funeral services are at Happy Home Church in Ruffin, Tuesday, November 13 at 3, visitation at 2, Pastor Jerry Langford officiating. She was a native of Rockingham County and farmed tobacco for most of her life. She was preceded in death by husband Irving Gibbs, surviving our daughter Kitty Renee Cannon and sisters Vicki Overbe of the home and Karen and James Johnson of Reedsville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rockingham County Animal Shelter. Michael Edward Booth, 79 of Winston-Salem, died November 6. Funeral services are Wednesday, November 13 at 2, visitation at 1, burial at Overlook Cemetery. He was born in Leaksville, joined a military at 17, served in Vietnam as a paratrooper with two tours of duty, reaching the rank of staff sergeant. He worked as a supervisor in the wave room at Philcrest Mills, completed a textile management degree from RCC, had his own construction company, building and remodeling homes, also carpentry and building cabinets. He had his own trucking company as an owner/operator delivering furniture across the southeast. For many years, he was an active volunteer for the North Carolina and National High School Rodeo Associations, serving on the Board of Directors and National Director for the Junior High Division. He was instrumental in planning and developing the Junior High Division of the National High School Rodeo. He was married to Betty Silver Booth of Winston-Salem, 52 years, was father to Stepson John Rothrock and Tammy Perry of Reedsville, son Mark Booth of Eden, daughters Theresa Booth of Eden, Sherry Davis and Jesse of Reedsville, Michael Gordon of Bassett, Shayna Willard and Jason of Graham, other survivors, 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. So Brother Lynn Booth and Debbie of Eden and Rhonda Lemons of Reedsville. Memorial services for James William Matthews are Sunday at 11, Sunday November 11 at 2 at First Presbyterian Church in Eden, where he was a longtime member.
