Just a couple minutes left here. And basically, baseball's GM meetings taking place right now. Obviously, I know I'm a Royals fan. Hopefully you know that by now as well. Thank you, there are plenty of you out there as well. So what did General Manager J.J. Piccolo have to say to MLB.com about the off season for the Royals? What should be ahead for the boys in blue? There are really four main takeaways according to MLB.com. Number one, he said that they are, quote, very comfortable with our starting pitching right now. And quote, he goes on to mention Michael Walker, who the Royals resigned three years, 51 million dollars for him. Seth Lugo, Cole Reagan's Brady Singer back and then some interesting names, Alec Marsh, who was a bullpen weapon at the end of the year. But he was a starter to begin the year, got moved to the bullpen when Michael Lorenzen came to town in a trade deadline acquisition. Chris Boobich was a starter, blew out his elbow a couple years ago, officially against the the San Francisco Giants out there in the Bay area. He made a pretty quick return from Tommy John surgery was elite out of the bullpen for the Royals this year. Also throws in Daniel Lynch, who up until this year was exclusively a starter, did move to the bullpen and posted some really good results for the Royals at the end of the regular season, didn't get a lot of run, maybe maybe one outing, maybe two in the playoffs. I don't remember exactly, but it's good to hear that the Royals think they still have starting pitching. But man, talking about Daniel Lynch as a starter, that's an emergency option only at this point. Boobich, I would be okay giving a look at the rotation because he was pitching really well with a new pitch, some new pitch shapes when he started last season before the Tommy John surgery. But Daniel Lynch has got to stay in the bullpen. He hasn't added the velocity like he thought he would not as consistent in terms of the command and control when he's a starter, right? So I think Lynch needs to primarily be a bullpen guy. And to be fair, the Royals were extremely healthy in the starting rotation last year. Didn't miss many starts at all. Lugo pitches a career high innings. Reagan's pitches a career high innings. Walkham, this is just a little bit of time after an incident down in Texas, but he was the back of his baseball card really solid, really steady for him. He got two and a half, three good months out of Alec Marsh as a starter in your five spot. The guy I didn't mention, though, Brady Singer, what did J. Jay Pecola have to say about him? Quote, we like Brady a lot. We thought he made significant strides this year. He continues to add to his repertoire to help him navigate line. Oops, and he'll continue to do that. So Brady's a lock in our rotation. When you look at our top four, Brady is in it. We'd like to have him because you can never have enough depth and quote. Brady is a lock in our rotation. On the one hand, fantastic news, a homegrown guy that the Royals developed into a quality number four, occasionally number three type of starter. But the thing about him is he's not a usual number three or number four. Brady Singer will have days where he is untouchable and days where he can't miss a bat to save his life. He is a mystery wrapped inside an enigma. 3.1 wins above replacement last year. Definitely going to cost more in arbitration even though he is a super too eligible player. There's been a lot of talk internally and externally about the value you can get for Brady Singer. He's not good enough to be a two in the playoffs. Not right now. We're still young enough. You can maybe see him take another step forward, especially if he adds a consistent third pitch to his pretty deadly sinker slider mixed right now. Royals moved him to the bullpen in the postseason. I think he made one, maybe two appearances there as well. Could he be a guy that transitions to a shorter outing higher leverage sort of role in the bullpen? Potentially, right? Those two pitches he has are elite in terms of the movement. He's able to get on him when he's clicking. If you tell me the Royals keep Brady Singer. I'm not mad about it. If they think that their strength is going to be starting pitching, you keep Brady Singer around for that. Sure. I'm not mad, but if they tell me they trade Brady Singer and they get a middle of the order or top of the order impact bat. Guess what? Not mad about that at all. Number three thing that JJ Picola mentioned MLB.com was adding to the bullpen. We saw that this doesn't necessarily have to take place in the offseason. Very few of the Royals off season additions ended the year in the bullpen in the playoffs. John Schreiber was there. But other than that, no Will Smith, no Nick Anderson, no Chris Stratton. It was guys at the trade deadline and internal guys that stepped up. Again, Boobich, Sam Long was a young guy. The trades for Lucas Ursig and Hunter Harvey for two or three games before he went down with with the back injury. So I get why the Royals would maybe want to add to their bullpen in the off season, but they showed that it could be done. In season as well. The risky run is would you rather pay the salary up front or would you rather pay in prospects later on. Number four thing JJ Picolo said was the offense. He says, quote, we're looking at trying to add some on base to our team, especially when we want to put the game in motion and be athletic. Ideally, it would be in the lead off spot and maybe somewhere in the middle of the lineup completely agreed. Some interesting targets out there. Royals probably won't be in the running for one. So don't, but hey, I'm not going to completely write off their chances on that. It's been a good show. Thanks to the Mercado by certified Piedmontese for their sponsorship of old school.
