Big rivalry game this weekend in Kansas City, the Broncos and Chiefs. Joining us now on the KOA Common Spirit Health Hotline with a preview is Voice of the Broncos. Dave Logan. Dave, thank you so much for joining us, as always. Well, we were asking our listeners on social media this morning, do they think the Broncos can do it again after beating the Chiefs last season? Does last year's win mean anything this year? Did too much change between the two seasons that it's a little unpredictable of what we could see? Yeah, I mean, good morning, guys. I think it was obviously big for the Broncos to break that streak, because until you find a way to beat a team, and they had played the Chiefs relatively closely, at least in two or three of those games, in that long streak, but until you find a way, finally, to win a game, you're always going to have to deal with that, but I don't think it carries over from year to year. I think this, I mean, this is a brand new season in the Broncos, they got to find a way to go in, and I think, you know, one of the keys to the game will be the Broncos' offense and their ability to deal with Kansas City's defense, because even though Mahomes and Kelsey and Crew are still there, I mean, this is a team that this year in Kansas City has been winning largely due to how well their defense has been playing. Dave, they have won every single game, but a lot of those are so-called, you know, ugly wins where they, you know, come back at the end or something happens. So does the fact that they've played so many close games, will that give the Broncos more confidence that they can knock off an undefeated team? I don't know if that will play part of it. I think that, you know, going into Kansas City, and even though maybe this has not been the advantage, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense, they still have the ability, as long as Mahomes is playing and relatively healthy, they've got the ability to find ways to win games. We've seen that over the years, we've seen them play very well in offense, we've seen them struggle a bit for a while in a particular game, and then they seemingly find a way to win the game down the stretch. So I mean, I think it's a great test for the Broncos, I think, again, the Broncos' offense is going to have to have one of its better games. I don't think you go in there ahead and figure holding the Chiefs down to 10 or 13 or 14 points. And so what the Broncos offense can do against that Kansas City defense, which is, I think, better than the defense they faced last week in Baltimore. So it should be an interesting matchup. Dave, we know that stadium gets very, very loud, and I love quarterback Bonix's response saying, well, he'd rather play in a hostile environment than a low-level environment. Will the environment and even the field conditions play a role in this game? Maybe the field conditions, Jane, I think it's supposed to be wet tomorrow. It's supposed to have a lot of rain. The last time I looked at the forecast, however, for Sunday, was right about 60 degrees and the chance of precipitation only 10 percent. So we'll see. I mean, if the track is wet, it does tend to not only make things sloppy, but maybe slow things down a little bit, but it's certainly not going to be like it is here in Denver. Dave, the Chiefs have had a lot of injuries to their wide receiver core this year, but a couple of weeks ago, they traded for DeAndre Hopkins. How long does it take for somebody like that who's a veteran player to get fully acclimated to the new system? And what do you see his impact being on Sunday? Yeah, not long. He is a ball catcher. I mean, he is truly one of the great ballcatchers we have in our league. And when I say that, I mean, even if Hopkins is covered well, he's got an ability unlike most NFL receivers to adjust his body and make catches. He has always been a tough ball catcher. So I don't think it'll take long. He's already stepped up the last home game they had made two or three big catches, had at least one touchdown that I remember. So he quickly is going to be a guy that I think Mahomes will figure out he can trust and even when he's covered, he's going to throw the ball to him. Broncos taking on the Chiefs in Kansas City.
