After those drone strikes that killed seven aid workers in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli military says it has dismissed two officers and reprimanded three others for their roles in the drone strikes. The jobs market has again defied expectations. American employers added a surprisingly strong 303,000 jobs last month. Economists had been expecting 200,000, but employers have kept hiring as Americans have kept spending. The unemployment rate is down to 3.8%. The 26th straight month below 4%. The robust jobs growth boost hopes the economy can fight off inflation without drifting into a recession amid high interest rates. Still, average prices remain about 18% higher than three years ago. Some new numbers on vehicle sales. We get that from the AP's Lisa Dwyer. New vehicle sales were up 5.1% from January through March, as buyers stayed in the market despite higher interest rates. Electric vehicle sales growth however slowed, as mainstream buyers are wary of limited range and a lack of charging stations. But with inventory on dealer lots growing towards pre-pandemic levels, auto companies were forced to reduce prices. JD Power says the average sales price in March was just over $44,000 or down 3.6% from a year ago. JD Power also says that automaker discounts in March were about $2,800 or two-thirds higher than a year ago. I'm Lisa Dwyer.
