This is the Canucks central post-game show. Garland back in support. Try to get it free behind the net. It's broken up. Comes to more side of the goal. He scores. Canucks with a face-off. Here they come. Three on one. Short-handed. Zadora. Left leg. Centers for Blue are going to the goal. It's loose to the crease. He scores. Tambi Blue there. Short-handed. Wills the Canucks back to it in two. It's five to three. With more than seven minutes left in the third period. With instant reaction from the players and coaches. Canpe gets it free. Just gain it to center himself. Driving around Hughes. Canpe to the Vancouver net. To the four-handed scores. Adrian Canpe short-handed. Ice is it for the Kings. It's six to three. Have your say. On the official home of the Canucks. Sports net 650. And the Sports net radio network. The Canucks get doubled up in LA. Loose six-three against the Kings. Defense shoddy. Can't get a save. Can't win on special teams. Can't win the game. Loose six-three. And this is the Canucks Central Post game show presented by the number five orange on the home of your Canucks. Sports net 650. And the Sports net radio network. Satyar Shah. With bignessar. Well, you summed it up perfectly. I would just take the whole night off there. Just wrap it up and go home. But we do still have about almost two hours. I guess an hour and 50 some minutes before we get to the end of the show. So we still have a lot to talk about. We are going to bring in Brett Festrilling into the conversation coming up in a moment. You can grab a phone line, 604-280-0650. Your total free, 1-888-275-0650. You can also send your thoughts into our Dunbar Lumber text inbox, 650-650. And as you would imagine, a lot of reaction already as it is. But, I mean, how do you come away out with any other thoughts then the Canucks were very disappointing in almost every area of the game tonight. Chasing the game a whole way, right? A penalty right off the get-go from Teddy Blueger. And then there's the power play goal. You think, all right, how do you get back into the game? Well, Dakota Joshua takes a penalty. And the Kings go up to nothing. It's hard enough coming back from one nothing against this LA Kings team. With the way they play, two nothing makes it even tougher. And they just never really got back on solid ground. And you thought after 20 minutes, okay, you get the one goal down to one. Can you just play settled and we never really did? No, they didn't. Let's bring in Brett Festerling into the conversation. And Brett, when it comes to a game like this, is there anything you take away from a game like this positively? Or is it pretty much bad across the board, considering they lost almost every facet tonight? The positive to me is a lot of the mistakes are correctable. It's mistakes that they made themselves. Like, do you want those mistakes to be made? No, but a lot of them, again, like taking penalties, not switching off with your defenseman or communicating that way. I think they're correctable mistakes. Now, that's a positive. Now, you don't want that many correctable mistakes heading into the postseason. Obviously, you don't want it to be a switch you're trying to turn on when you get there. You want to limit your mistakes to, you know, less than a handful during the game. And then hopefully your goalie can come up with some, or somebody comes up with a desperation play. But in terms of the play, there were some flashes, there were some good parts. But as a whole, it was a pretty, pretty ugly performance. Yeah, well, what's troubling too, and a lot of people have already texted it about it, is the overall pairings and the lines aren't settled. We don't see game-to-game consistency right now. It's hard to feel like you're finding solutions right now. And again, like Carson Seussi flips back to the right side tonight. Nothing feels like it's settled going into the time area where you want things solved. Yeah, there's a certain stability factor you want there, heading with your lines going in and just confidence with those guys as a unit, whether it's your three guys or a pair or five. You just want something you can kind of trust in here. And when you mix it up as much as they have, you know, you don't want players or those combinations, second-guessing or questioning it, come in to the postseason. Yeah, and you know, as far as the playoffs go, I see a lot of people are texting in and they've been on social media to talk about how concerned they are. They're really worried about the team with a current trend with how things are going and how they play against playoff teams. All of that concern with how they've gone against playoff teams now, especially this past month when they pretty much, you know, lost every game here over the last calendar month against every playoff team they faced. Yeah, I mean, it's not great. I wouldn't say I'm happy about it. You know what I mean? There are good games that you want to play, and we talked about that if you were wanting kind of three weeks, that you want meaningful games and it's go time from talk and find another gear and all that. Those teams have lived up to the expectation of here's some tougher competition that's gearing up for playoffs as well. Now, I mean, I think if you go back to the last loss against LA and Dallas, I think Vancouver could easily have those and I was relatively happy with the play. You know, the last one against Las Vegas, no, this one, too many errors. Not what you want. So, there's a little concerning. Yeah, I mean, they still have five games that are really that natural kind of elevation in intensity and emotion and everything heading in here kind of brings them, brings them together. But yeah, there definitely needs to be a little more stability, I think, in terms of what they're doing and combinations. You know, what's fascinating about playing this Kings team is sometimes the zone entries look so clean. They generate these awesome opportunities. And then for the bulk of the night, it looks so difficult. And some people are texting in, what can Rick talk it do to change it and not look so struggling through the course of the evening? How much of this is on the players? How much of this is on what the coaches can change during the game? Because now this has been multiple games where it's looked so difficult, and yet they've had success in blips and the chances they do create look like they come so easily. So, what do you notice when you go against this Kings team? Yeah, that's exactly the one through one. That's exactly in the tee. It's going to be ugly, it's going to be a nightmare to get through. But when you do get through it, you got five guys essentially standing still. And if you beat the three on the red line, you have one guy. So, if you see those plays where they get speed and they hit those little four foot gaps when they two on one, those guys on the red line, then all of a sudden they break that line and you have one defender. So, that's when it looks smooth and so easy and they get these glorious opportunities is because you beat it. Now, the percentages of you beating it are a lot lower. So, you're not, do you know what I mean? Yeah. Like, you're going to be struggling, it's going to be ugly all night. If you want to try to attack these seams, eventually they're NHL players, you're going to make, you saw Petey have a couple beautiful passes there through that, through that and Garland got through a couple of times, and then you get some really nice chances that seem so easy and you're odd man, and why can't we do this every time? But, that's exactly what it's designed to do and then you keep trying that and then you get a team like LA who's very opportunistic. They took advantage of opportunities. I don't think they had that many, I mean, I'm not looking at advanced stats here. It didn't look like they had that much sustained pressure during the night, but when they came in and got their chances, they looked really dangerous. Now, I wouldn't say Canucks defended that well and I don't know about, you know, I don't think Desmith is probably happy with his play tonight, but they looked pretty dangerous when they did have opportunities. Yeah, I mean, and that's the thing, and overall too, for this Canucks squad, it's one of those games where, like we said, there's really not a ton of redeeming qualities outside of it, but if you are just better on special teams, then maybe it's still a different outcome than the one it was here tonight. And, you know, they've been on a trend now on their PK, where they're clicking at about 60%, their past few games here, and it seems like the PK's Feaster famine, right? Like they're either, you know, going on a stretch where they're killing 85 to 90% of the PK's and power plays they're facing, or they go through stretches where they're at 50 or 60%, and how hard is it for a unit that kind of keeps going through these wild swings like they have? Yeah, it goes back to confidence. I feel like I mentioned confidence almost every game, but it plays such a huge factor in how guys play and how aggressive and how fast they make reads because you just don't second guess things that makes you faster, and you just see, I think the effort's there, but yeah, you just see some of these reads that are, that they're not huge mistakes, but they're big enough where you're just giving teams opportunities, and you're going against teams now that are going the other way. They're sharpening their knives. They're trying to dial everything in for playoffs as well. They're becoming more dangerous and more kind of, you know, detail oriented, so they're usually more dangerous when it comes to it, and if you make these easy mistakes and give them opportunities, they're going to be taking advantage of. Yeah, the PK, especially, just didn't look sharp or detailing a bit earlier, and just some of the rotations, like on that first goal is the Dorov, and Souter, are they a little slow there, kind of trying to close out on Kempe? Yeah, for sure, and then the Dorov's angle, there's just too much to shoot, you can't be able to shoot to that far side. That's right, how many times have we heard talk about half the net to make them cool? You know, it's not damn cool, but make them play half the net. The other halfs are as well, they score on the other side. So if you're watching video, they're putting that on the team. They're not putting that on the Smith. They shouldn't be able to shoot that far side. So that's probably not closing off, but the Dorov can't go out too much further, and Souter's kind of chasing down, but the Dorov can be in a much better lane there. And then on the second one, Mikayev, does Mikayev ends up down low in the crease? Or no, Omen takes the back door, and then he needs to hand that off to, I believe, Myers in front. He needs to hand off here, you got a guy here, because he can't vacate that slot. That's exactly where Douty ends up and takes a shot from right where Omen should be. Well, and there was also some, it just seemed like some weird decision-making on defensively as well. The fifth goal that was scored, Karna Garlin and Quinn Hughes are kind of tied standing next to each other. Karlin has the puck, and Hughes is just standing right next to him, and end up turning the puck over, and next thing you know, more scores. Like, what's going on in a situation like that where two guys are standing right next to one, and they're not passing the puck to each other. It just seems like there was a lot of, like, watching and waiting for somebody to do something on that play. Yeah, I mean, more does bat that out of the air. I see what, I believe, Hughes is trying to do for Harona. The reason nobody's there is because Harona goes behind the net for the relief. And then Hughes tries to get more knocks out of the air. Now, I agree with you, it seems like there could have been a little more, I don't know if you want to call it wall battle or whatever, there could have been a little more intensity there. And then, I think they're just being aggressive trying to get something going. They're already down, but that leads to, you're chasing the game all night because of penalties, because of unnecessary errors. And then that leads to those type of plays. In general, now you mentioned that Casey Smith maybe wants a little bit more from tonight. You know, we talked about in the second intermission. It's really just the first goal for me. What stood out for you? Where were you thought maybe some things were lacked for the Smith? It's hard. I think he would like some more back. But in terms of, like, campies on a half break, the one goes off. I don't think it goes off cold or it went off one of the. LaFairy area. LaFairy area in front. I think you would just like to have a couple of those. You know, you kind of want one of those or two of those to be, to be stopped. But he did make a couple, a couple of good stops. I just, I don't know, I guess you get used to somebody in net, like Demco, that maybe makes some of those look easy. And then they end up in the back of the net and it's a big swing for the night. So, yeah, that's the thing is it starts off wrong with campy on the far side. That's probably one he wants back, even though the team will say that's the team's fault. So that's probably why dismissed more aggressive on that left side, that short side. But, yeah, just as a whole, as a unit. I don't think they're good enough tonight. Definitely weren't. But you on the call, fantastic work is always. You and that's nailed it, Brad. That's what we look forward to chatting with you again very soon. Great work here tonight. Thanks guys. Appreciate it. Brett Festerling calling the game alongside Brendan Bachelor. A 6-3 loss for the Vancouver Canucks on the road against the Kings. Go one and two on the road trip. Beat Arizona by Las Vegas and LA. Two playoff teams and it's been a struggle for the Canucks against playoff teams the past month. Haven't beaten one. It's kind of rough. The last time in beat a playoff team was the Winnipeg Jets, their first game of that nine-game home stand back in March. It kind of feels like an eternity ago at this stage. So, I understand the recent concern. Like, we joke about how people text in and say the last two or three months to connect some and beat a single playoff team. It's like, well, they have. If you want to say the last four weeks, fact only, man, they have not beat a playoff team. All right. Keep your thoughts coming in to a dumbbar lumber text inbox. We are going to get to foam boards in a second. But what are people saying that you want to share real quick? Oh, man. I'll try to choose the short ones because there are some paragraph long rants coming into the 650-650 Dunbar lumber text message inbox. This one, when is Demko back? I'm mentioning might be another week before we see Demko return. He was on the trip. It could be later on this week. This one, party, talk. It looks like he's lost. He's being out coached. That one's from party into the inbox. And this one, am I crazy for saying this? This game made me feel better about the power play. They didn't score, but it looked more dangerous with Miller and Petey on the same side. They were looking to be better. Do we actually need to have a discussion about DeSmith and She-Lov for the playoffs? We had the discussion last post. I think that last power play was better. I don't know if the power play in general tonight. There was a couple power plays. One power play couldn't even get set up. Yeah. The first power play. And they gave up a peek. They gave up a goal shorthand as well. So some moments, yes, but also a bit of a mixed bag, which has kind of been the reality of the special teams that has not been very special recently. All right. Let's go to the foam board. I'm going to go to the foam board to wait 0-650 or toll free, 1-888-275-0650. We'll start things off on the east coast. One don't want to keep Chris in New Jersey up too late. So let's get his thoughts in first. Chris, thanks for calling in here, buddy. What are your thoughts after a 6-3 connects loss in LA? Well, you know what? Listen, aside from a bunch of swear words and all that. I think that they played relatively decent 5-1-5 tonight. I think from what I saw, they pulled the Kings out of position, which is, you know, a lot of teams have struggled to do that this year the way how structured they are defensively. So I think they connect definitely. You know, if you break away, if you break out chances, sneak through the blue line and then you go to the Queen's, you guys are saying so. That was good. Penalty kill is abysmal. The Smith can't save a dollar. So, yeah, aside from that, they really need them to go back and just clean up a few details. I think they'll be okay. You know, it's not quite easy. We don't really have a McDavid order around giving everybody the clock. So that part of it's hard. We'll see what happens. I can't bear to watch another shift of Cole and Nick, Cole and the Gita the door all paired together. It's hard, Ben. It's hard, Ben. It's hard. It's hard. It's hard. Yeah. I hear you, Ben. But, you know, I mean, if you're clean details, get the Denver back and I think, you know, they'll find their game a little bit again. Just can't ever react too much. Hey, Chris. Keeps thick. For sure. Hey, Chris. Thanks for the phone call. I appreciate you staying up late and giving us a call. I, largely, I don't necessarily disagree with large portions of it because this game, they were able to get back into it a couple of times, get within two goals, get within a goal. But what happens? They end up dropping. Agree just mistakes. Agree just mistakes right afterwards. I mean, they're shooting themselves in the foot because if they play clean and don't shoot themselves in the foot, maybe it is a different outcome. You know, maybe if you kill a penalty, don't go over two to start off. Maybe it is a little bit of a better outcome. So I don't think it's so much that they can't hang with the LA Kings. But the way they play by shooting themselves in the foot and the mistakes that they've made, tonight, defensively, was uncharacteristic. Like the coverage by the defenseman. And to Chris's point, Susie and Zadorov had a tough night. I thought Zadorov had a really rough night. I mean, I know Cole was on for one of them, but it didn't matter who Zadorov was out there with. It seemed like he was on the ice for almost every other conocle tonight. Yeah, certainly. And Susie on the Fiala goal just looks incredibly awkward. What? And he doesn't really make a decision to play the puck or play the body and lets Fiala creep in behind him. It's like at the very least, keep the play in front of you. Yeah. And even like, hey, we talk about Casey the Smithmaking is saving. I would have liked to see him make that save on Campe. But Quinn Hughes lets Campe get behind him on the power play, right? I mean, on the power play, you're down within two rolls. You're pushing late. And now they make a 6-3, and it's Quinn Hughes making a mistake. So Hughes made mistakes. He got burned. Zadorov got burned. Cole got burned. Susie got burned. The only connect defensive who didn't get burned tonight was Philopironic. And even him on that play, he's got a call behind the net. But like Brett mentioned, he understands what he was trying to do. So I don't even know if even he gets off Scott Freed tonight. But it was a really rough night for connect defenseman. But even to compound that, you can't point this out a number of times. Where was the back pressure by the forwards half the time? Yeah, it waned through the course of the game. And even when in a spot where you're down 3-1, 4-1, you got to put in some work to get back into this. And you would see it routinely. You know, sideways passing the neutral zone by the Kings. An opportunity to get back into the play. You just didn't see Canucks getting back into the play. Yeah. Just overall. At that stage, it was already 4-1-3-1 when I started kind of pointing it out to you. But to be like, Canucks demand really struggled this evening. They each kind of made their own mistake leading to a goal. Yeah, I mean, Tyler says this fan base is quick to jump on goal. These so many odd matter rushes and they expect perfect games. And it's a mixed bag. I don't think, you know, Dismit gets off Scott Freed. Allow six goals. You know, ultimately, it's hard to have a clean, you know, be good. You know, we've had a six goals in and they had chances. But I'm not sure six should have been the number. I got past Casey to Smith tonight. Let's go back to the foam boards. Let's go to Surrey where we have Blake on the line. Blake, thanks for calling in. What are your thoughts here tonight? Hey, guys. Yeah. Thanks for taking my call. I was really disappointed in the game tonight. The Canucks, they had this road trip where they go to Vegas. They go to Arizona and they go to LA and they get blown out, really. And LA and Vegas, two teams that they're probably most likely to face in the playoffs. If I was the Canucks, I'd be kind of embarrassed to be completely honest with you guys. The performances they put out. I didn't like Dismit's game at all tonight. I thought he could have been a little bit better. You know, as fans, we discuss on X, we'll put it. If Demko's in the net, maybe it's a different game. Maybe it's not. But I just think that Demko would have made a couple saves tonight that possibly Dismit didn't. And that's not to say that he should have made those saves. It's just that Demko's kind of superhuman sometimes and he bails the team out when maybe they don't deserve it. So I hope that Demko's back really soon. I'll be in the building on Monday night and I hope the Canucks put a lot better performance than they did on this road trip. Thanks, guys, for taking my call. Hey, Blake, thanks for the phone call. I appreciate the thoughts. Hopefully a bit of a better performance there coming up on Monday against the Vegas Golden Knights. You're seeing a lot of Canucks are going to be out in five. Canucks aren't going to make it out of the first round. There are a lot of thoughts like that. Like, Frank and Enime will text it in. And he's like, "Bick and Sad, you guys got to stop talking about this team." It's saying that they have a chance. They have no chance. Don't sugarcoat it. They're going to be out in the first round. It's like, if that's what you believe, cool. I'm like, all right. We're reading the texts. We're not silencing you. No, no, you can go ahead. Actually, I'll read this, Frank and Enime will text. Sorry, 650 gang. The Canucks don't have a bottom six. They don't have the physical game. They can't rely on Pedersen to carry the team with his 11 million contract, which, by the way, hasn't even started yet. But nevertheless, I feel sorry for Quinn Hughes. Miller and Demko can't save them. I hate to say it, but we are toast. You guys can't sugarcoat in any other way that is Frank Enime. A bit of everything. John in a candy village, nice flip-flop sat for mocking people to acknowledging the fans were noticing that they haven't beaten any one good for a while. Like I said, when people texted in and said they haven't beaten anybody good in two to three months, that's not true. What do you want me to say? Be factual and I'll agree with you. Okay, John wrote it in a paragraph earlier. Do we have time for this one? Go ahead and read the paragraph. Okay. It's going to take me a minute, so let me get a deep breath in here. I generally enjoy your even keeled debates and always listen to satin friends, pre-post game coverage. Hey, I'm a friend. But I'm disappointed with your taking the team struggles against good teams. The Canucks are five, eight, and one with two wins coming in OT versus teams above the playoff line since the all-star break. So yes, they have beaten playoff teams in the last two months, but a losing record against the best teams isn't great news heading into the playoffs. Perhaps you could report the actual record and discuss the potential reasons for it instead of simply citing wins versus Vegas, LA and Colorado and using them to dismiss pointing out the team's losing record versus playoff teams as a reactionary chicken littles. And I'm pretty sure satin danced at recently. Only way the Canucks can lose the division is by choking. Does not beating a team with a winning record for the entirety of Demko's absence count as choking asking for a friend to John and can be village. I mean, there is, I mean, I need a break. Yeah, you do need a break. Take a break. Take a breather and I'll answer the question here for John and can be village. What I made fun of is people texting in and saying the Canucks haven't beaten a good team since the all-star break. Or saying they haven't beaten playoff teams in two or three months. Again, that's not true. And if your take is the Canucks are going to lose in the first round. What do you want me to say? You think they're going to lose in the first round? Great. Okay. Like, that's your conversation. I'm not sure what you want me to add to it. I laugh at those notions because I think we extrapolate too much from end of season into the playoffs. And just because things are going a certain way right now doesn't mean that will continue in the postseason. And I think oftentimes we get caught in that trap. And that's what I kind of make fun of. But if you feel like they're going to lose, John, great. Cool. You're worried? All right. Nobody's telling you not to be worried. But I can make fun of texts that come in that are factually incorrect. And I'm going to continue doing that. So have your facts straight. I'll agree. They haven't beaten a playoff team. Like, I don't think I've said that they haven't beaten a playoff team in a month. But when people text in and say the Canucks haven't beaten a playoff team in four months, that's just not true. Be factual. And I'll agree with you. If not, then I'll make fun of you. All right. There we go. Sad feels better. I feel better. I got that off my chest. Keep your thoughts coming in. Let's take another phone call here before we hit the break. We'll get to the thoughts of the Canucks head coach as well. Let's go to East Van where we have Tristan on the line. Tristan, thanks for calling in. What are your thoughts here tonight? Hey, thanks for taking my call, guys. I just wanted to talk about the goalies. Do you think we would have won if Temco is in the net? And also the short-handed thingy. We need to do that more often. And do you think we'll win games if we do that? Thanks, guys. Have a great night. Appreciate it. Hey, thanks for the phone call, Tristan. The goal? I think I think, you know, don't take penalties. I think is that the point he was trying to do? No, I think the blue girl is like, should they do that more often? Well, last year they scored more. Yeah. They've been aggressive on the PK at times. I mean, listen. That one I feel like was clearly because they were down. And Zadorov saw a bit of open ice and took off and multiple guys joined him obviously on that rush. But in general, I don't see them doing that very often. Yes. What was the other question? Oh, if Demco started it? I don't know. I don't know. They didn't really play very well in front of their goalie anyways. Demco probably saves the campaign one. Maybe saves the dowdy one. Yeah. I mean, the game would be different because Demco is better. But I'm not sure the result is going to be different. No, no, exactly. And I think maybe Demco plays, makes a couple saves. Maybe the vibe is a bit different. You have more confidence in your star goalie. Who knows, right? Like, things could be-- Impossible to tell. It's impossible to tell. I love this one. You're a dug-in delta. Guys, you guys are extolling the second coming at Quinn. He was the new Messiah, the lock for the Norris. What do you say now about your golden boy tonight? Laughable. Been saying it for two years. This guy is not a Stanley Cup winning demand. Okay. Cool. Like, as soon as he has a bad game, he's had this terrific season. Smashing all the records possible. He has a bad game. And then people show up. Told you he sucks. Like, come on. And you wonder why I make fun of textures sometimes in these takes? You don't have to say you're right. This Quinn is trash. Hang on. You didn't even read the best part of the text. All right. What is it? Yeah. What do you say about your golden boy tonight? Laughable. Been saying it for two years. Not a Stanley Cup winning demand. You should have cashed on his trade value. Hang on. I don't need to go over every example tonight. Put that one shift. Eight spinaramas. One stutter step. And equals three shots. All blocked yet again. Love your show. But just saying, again, dug-in delta. Okay. Cool. By the way, it was a problem tonight in general. We have two shots on goal. The Canucks ultimately do get 42 on goal. They also had 34 miss. And at one point, it was way more misses than on goal in the second period. It was something I mentioned to you. It's a struggle at times. They play for tips and rebounds and whatnot. So maybe there's an element where they shoot wide. Yeah. In general. But yeah, there was a lot of misses today. Quinn Hughes gets three on goal. Six attempts missing the net. Absolutely. That does have a point. Sure. Sure. But I mean, does that mean he's bad again? He can't win in the playoffs because he had a bad game. That's what you believe. If you believe Quinn Hughes is not good defensively and can't have success in the playoffs, then nothing's going to change your mind about the regular season with the regular season he's had. So that's just how you feel about things. That's how you feel about things. There's nothing I can do about that. Boys, PD sucked again. What's your excuse tonight? I thought he was really good. I mean, he had an assist. He had six shots on goal. Three more hits. Set up a couple of plays, too. Garland didn't convert a chance. Besser misses a chance on the power play. How many penalties did he draw tonight? Was it two? I think he drew two penalties. He had a couple of penalties. I mean, listen, is he as threatening as he has he's been in the past? No. Have we not spoken about how Patterson has struggled and needs to be better? I feel like we talk about that every post game show. The last little bit. I don't think we've said he doesn't need to be better. No, he's certainly haven't. But like tonight, what's your excuse tonight, Bick? What's your excuse? Do you have one for him? I don't know. If I lose my voice Bick, that's going to be on you tonight. You're going to have to carry it. What? I feel like it's going. We'll battle through it. I'll leave you the text. Do I need to relax? If the collection is defensive as sat, we would have won 3-0. Hey, I'm always ready to fight. Are you going too much? Am I? Am I too fired up? I don't know. You are always willing. I'm a willing... I like to spar. I'm not afraid of sparring. Yeah. We could do it. I'm fine. I'll admit when I'm wrong. I'm fine. I don't know why it's coming up with a ferocity of a thousand sons, but I'm fine. I'm fine. I don't know where it's coming from, but I'm feeling fine. So people keep asking me. We won't start a fight, but we'll finish a fight. Run up if you want to get done up. This is essentially the motto. What was the F-A-F-O? People say whatever that means. I'm not sure. But anyways, overall though, it's one of those things. You also bring up the archer-shield-offs thing. Well, I changed, but well, sat changes mine on archer-shield-obs. Ba-ba-ba. For Casey the Smith. My point last time was, Casey Smith has stole the backup for the Maker of Products. He's going to start today, which he did. And in the playoffs, he's going to be the backup. And when Demko gets healthy, they'll send she lobs down. Like, those are just facts. And that's what's happening. But that wasn't the debate. The debate was like, who do you trust more? Yeah, the debate was, who should play? In a scenario. Our thing was, in a scenario we're talking, we were doing the same. In a scenario where Demko gets hurt, like she loves is going to get called up. That was the issue. If Demko is out for the playoffs, who did you want? And you were still Casey the Smith, and I was very much archer-shields. Because obviously he'll get called up. Yeah, and my point is, we can sit here and talk about she loves to play, but he's not going to play. And that's all I'm saying. Yeah, the whole thing is like, oh, he's the backup. But, yes. The question here is, now. It's like being like the middle management. Well, I'm the executive VP. Of course, I'll be the one that gets promoted. Not the young upstart guy who's clearly going to be CEO one day. I'll just trust on my job title. EVP will get me there. [LAUGHTER] As I take a shot at every middle management person. Yeah, no kidding. This is one thing I will say, though. The coach mentioned that she loves Mike get another start before he gets sent down. That's why Demko may not play on Monday. Now, I agree that Death Smith would start on Saturday. Because Demko is most likely not playing on Monday, should it not be she loves getting a start. Like, don't you feel better with him getting the start now? Like, I agree with that. Like, I think especially if you're going to start him and especially how Desmith's gone in the last couple of games, I would start Shilab's on Monday. Absolutely. And with the coach saying he's going to play another game, it's not the game you want to get him into. The Arizona game, though? If it's about another week for Demko, which is what Elliot said today. So, Arizona. That's gonna have to Smith Monday and then Wednesday, Arizona. And then Demko probably plays two of the last three. The next two gives the Alberta teams. And then doesn't go to Winnipeg. And then doesn't go to Winnipeg. But then you have to recall the goalie again. I guess you always could do that and, you know, we'll see. But for me, especially with the current trend, I'd rather go with Shilab's on Monday. If he's going to get another start, which the coach said he's most likely going to be, he should get the Monday start against Vegas. I don't think there's a wrong answer here if you're getting Shilab's in net one more time. Yeah, probably not. Alright, keep your thoughts coming in. Gord says, give me a break. You guys never admit when you're wrong. You will even distort what textures say to put in it in your favor. I don't really think that happens. But we admit when we're wrong all the time. I have a segment on the show where I say I'm wrong. I mean, I said I was wrong about Connor Garland earlier. Don't you want that one? Is that a good one? No? Okay. Alright, keep your thoughts coming in to our Dumbbar Lumber Tax Dunbox. And then we'll hit more of your questions and comments. As the show goes on, well, let's go back to the forum board. 604-280-0650, you're toll free. 1-888-275-0650. Let's go to John, thank you for calling in. What are your thoughts here tonight? I think he should start on Monday for sure. You want to see if he can play against good teams. And you know, to Smith, I don't know how many games he's lost against playoff teams lately, but it's been quite a few. So I think, and if he plays good against Las Vegas, then I forget the Smith is the backup. I don't know. I don't think he, you know, he had a lot of easy games through the season. He played and he didn't win a lot of them. So I think that see Los is the future anyways, and they don't have to sign the Smith. I was impressed with him at the beginning of the season, but I'm not so impressed with him now. So, you know, he doesn't like Samco would make at least three saves a game. A good saves that are unbelievable saves, but I haven't seen him. The Smith save, make a good save in last four or five starts anyways. So, see, Los, I know he played against weaker teams, but they were tight games where they're only one goal of games. And he still kept them in the game, and he did make some saves like that. I don't know what you guys think, but that's what I think. Yeah. Hey, thanks for the phone call. That's John calling in from Google Loom. I mean, she loves, made a number of big saves. The last game in the game is Arizona Coyotes. But it wasn't like he was being put into situations like this myth was being put into tonight. Like he wasn't getting like, you know, breakaway opportunities. There's some good saves made in close and there was the one save he made, obviously, net front. But then the rebound was there and the guy didn't get it. Now, if he gets the rebound and puts it into the goal, then you're viewing that whole sequence differently. But yes, she loves, made some saves that the Smith was not able to make. But also it's the thing that I'm also wanting to point out here is the degree of difficulty for she loves his two games, Anaheim and Arizona and a push in the third period is significantly different than what the Smith faced tonight and what the Smith faced against Vegas the other night too, when he played. So like fair, all fair, but the degree of difficulty is slightly different too. You have to factor that in and it's not as simple as just because he was good against Arizona. That means he's going to stand on his head against a good team when you're as leaky as it connects world tonight. And to his point, obviously, when was the last win Casey the Smith had versus a playoff level team? You're basically going back to December against Nashville. Now, you featured a bit obviously in the Winnipeg game where Demko goes out, but hand in hand, the Canucks not winning versus playoff team since Thatcher Demko is out. Yeah, I mean, that's something you absolutely have to factor in. Now, they've had a lot of opportunities. You want to hopefully overcome one of those, but Thatcher Demko obviously has been out since March 9th. But quick glance, I think the last playoff team Casey Smith would have got the W against was Nashville. Yeah. So it's been a while. It's been a while. It has been a while. Let's continue on the phone boards. Let's go to Jake and Langley. Jake, thanks for calling in. What are your thoughts here tonight? Hi guys. I hope you guys are having a good show. Please do not distort my phone call. You got it. I really, really appreciate that. Honestly, I was hoping you guys are just going to read text messages for the rest of the show because I'm actually kind of wanting to get quite entertaining. It can be honest. So I'm sure my friends actually laugh at my jokes for the first time ever. That's quite nice. So honestly, I only watched the last two periods of watching WrestleMania. So quite enjoying that. And I just want to ask you guys a quick little question. And it's about Patterson. When exactly, because he didn't play that tonight. But when exactly should we as fans become concerned? Is it the game before the playoffs? Should we not be concerned at all and just wait until the playoffs start? As fans, when exactly should we be like, you know what? Maybe we need to think about this a little bit and see exactly where he's at. I'm not just physically but mentally here. Yeah, you got the phone call on Elias Patterson, where he is. Is that where you're asking Jay? Yeah. As far as being concerned, I don't know. You're locked in for eight years. Yeah, I mean, the thing is, like I mentioned before, do you have some concerns right now? Of course, you have some concerns. Is it going to look like this in the postseason? I mean, potentially, but we don't know that yet. And my big thing here too is like, yeah, they've had struggles now for sure. But as I maintain this through generally most situations, you get to this point of the season. And I'm not sure this is going to be necessarily indicative to what you're going to do in the postseason. It's a different animal. So I'm not always willing to draw a straight line. And one thing we forget, and we've forgotten in this market is we haven't seen a lot of play off hockey vocally, but the game changes so dramatically. It's a completely different season. That being healthy to me is the most important thing. And fundamentally, can't play proper hockey. They're not doing it consistently, but they've shown they can do it. So to me, I don't think they're doomed in the first round. Now, are they going to get out of the second round? I don't know. Like, I don't know if I feel good about their chance against Vegas or Edmonton in the second round. But I'm not terrified of facing Nashville or L.A. in the first round. I know they lost L.A. But I'm not sitting here saying they're doomed in the first round. If you feel like they're doomed, then there's not much we can do about that. And all you have to do is wait to the postseason and see what happens. I don't feel like they're doomed. But I do think for Elias Patterson's game, you can be concerned about this right now. And it could drag into the playoffs. And that could hurt their chances this year. But am I concerned about the player long term? No. Short term concern? Yeah, you can be concerned. And none of us really know how it's going to go. He's been a bit better lately. I know people don't want to hear it, but he has been a bit better lately. Hopefully, it's a trajectory that continues to get better incrementally. And hopefully, by the playoffs, he's playing significantly better than what he's doing right now. But I'm not concerned about him long term. I think he'll be fine long term. Short term? Yeah, it's fair to have concerns. I mean, you can't lie about the fact that he hasn't been as good as he normally is. Yeah, certainly. And the thing about the long term thing, too, is they'll get wingers sorted out. Whether it's Lacaremaki, it becomes a stud or someone that you recognize that belongs in the top six, or they go and acquire more. That's still part of it, too. It's OK for good players to have good players alongside with them. McKinney gets ranted in, Tays got Kane on and on and on. Good players get good players next to them. And right now, Lius Pedersen is that to sort through Andrei Kuzmenko, who had a nice little flash. And many people have been texting in. He's got 17 and 23 with the Calgary Flames. And then he's had Ilya McCabe, like his best partner this year, has been Nils Holglander, who has crushed it five on five goal scoring, but he also has 11 assists on the year. So it's not like perfect, but that's been his best partner this year. Good players need good players alongside with them. And long term, that's something that will get solved, you hope internally, but certainly if there's other acquisitions that need to be made. That will bring the best out of a Lius Pedersen. He's still having a fantastic year, but I understand the demand. If this guy's got to dominate the game no matter who's with them, but that's just not reality. Other players around the league don't play with third liners. No, and listen, do you want him to elevate players more, perhaps? Yes. Do you still want to add better players with them? Also, yes. I mean, it's like, for instance, the point I made earlier this week about the Chicago Blackhawks some years back, they had a loaded team. They still went out and signed Mary and hosted a play with Johnson Taves. I mean, could he play with Christopher Steig or somebody? Sure, but how much better are you to put Taves and hosted together? And how do they win Stanley Cups? And that's what we're talking about here. And Jim Rutherford did mention to Ian McIntyre on an article if you missed it, to read it on SportsNet.ca. And we'll hopefully connect with Ian McIntyre in the final segment of the show. But mention that improving the wingers is a priority in the offseason. It's something that they're going to be looking to do, so we'll see how bold they might be in improving the wings in the offseason before you get to the offseason. You still have five games to go on the regular season, plus the postseason coming up as well. This one here says there's zero evidence that we can expect improvement and, you know, the Canucks, they're out in five unless things get turned around. But what evidence do you see of that happening? So unless they turn things around, so the evidence that people ask about is, to me, if you look at how they play defensively, generally speaking, since the All-Star break, and forget the All-Star break, go back to the last 12 games. They've still been generally speaking five on five, one of the better defensive teams in the NHL. So to me, if you're still playing as one of the better defensive teams in the NHL, now tonight was a bad game. Things was a bad game. There's no sugar coding and there's no explaining it away. It's bad games. But if you're asking for the trends, the trend is defensively, whether by the numbers or by even the metrics, they've been really good five on five. And in the postseason, to me, five on five plays is the most important indicator of having success. So if you're playing as good as any team five on five defensively, generally speaking, to me, that's not a sign of everything falling apart. You can be concerned, yes, special teams, we're all concerned. Top players going, we're all concerned. Getting them to go back healthy, hopefully, right? All these things are concerns you can have. But if you're asking for evidence, my evidence is their overall team play, and they've had some dips, has not been as bad as people make it out to be. So that's why I'm not willing to say they're doomed in the playoffs. If you see it differently, okay, we'll find out. We have five games to go. And if you want to be right, you might be right. We'll find out how it goes. But if you're asking what evidence they have, generally speaking, through all this, as bad as the connects have been, they've still been one of the better five on five defensive teams in the NHL. 650, 650, should we get to talking? Let's do one more call. Let's go to Sam and Richmond has been waiting patiently to get on. Sam, thanks for calling in. What do you have for us tonight? Hey, gentlemen, how's it going tonight? Excellent, excellent. You know, fat, if you're really in a fighting mood, we can talk about the Kuzmeiko trade. Hey, man, how about it? Go ahead. It's okay. So, and funny, but anyhow, that's one for another day, another time. Yeah. My question for you guys is, it might be only one pressing the panic button and connection nation about the Oilers creeping up on us three points. I just read that February 15th, the Canucks were 17 points up and now they're three. So, and I guess it doesn't work out good for me because I have relatives and Alberta and I'm getting it. Oh, yeah. Anyhow. But the point, the other thing is, too, and I have a question for you guys, too. Do you think it's hurting the Canucks right now that Albion and Rutherford didn't do anything to the trade deadline? I know that's kind of, I mean, at the time, I guess they decided they would see how it plays out. But now, I guess you can't really have, I guess, hindsight, you know, hindsight's always 20/20. But right now, I mean, this myth is just a myth. The defensively, their coverage is just awful. It's just a myth. And I really hope that they can somehow pull it up and pull it out. Sorry, and when the division, because that would be good. But right now, boy, are they struggling. But anyhow, your gentlemen have a good night. Thank you very much. Hey, I appreciate it. Thanks for calling in. So on the division, I'm asking this to unattack them. Yeah, what's the math? So the Oilers have six games left. They're at 99 points. Do the math. They can get to 111. The Canucks have five games left with 102 points. Do the math. They can get to 112. So still in the lead. But if the Oilers win their game in hand and beat the Canucks, changes the math on that. So technically, they're in control of their own destiny. But still, they've done a lot of games in short order. So curious fatigue starts to play a role in that as well. I've been pretty steadfast about this since November 6th. I didn't think the only way to catch the Canucks still don't think they'll catch the Canucks. But it's obviously the math is really tight, obviously. Yeah, and honestly, John and Camby Village ask, "Are they not choking it?" To me, choking it is actually choking it away. They haven't done that yet. If they choke it away, then yeah, we can criticize them. We're choking away the first spot in the division. And we'll see if that does happen. The Canucks now what, five and five in the last 10 games. So very mediocre, 14, 14, and one since the All-Star break. So they've been a 500 team now for a 28, 29 game run. So it hasn't really been the best in terms of results for the Canucks recently. It's something that has to improve, of course. Now, we'll get to more of your texts coming up as a show goes on and more of your forum calls. But let's get the thoughts of the Canucks head coach. And do you have the things Sam mentioned? We'll talk about that a bit later. The trade deadline, local's name, because it's come up. Did the Canucks do enough? Like I mentioned at the deadline, I was shocked. The Canucks weren't able to get another deal done to get some help up front. But we'll dive into that a bit more as a show goes on. But what does the head coach think about losing six, three in L.A. against the Kings? Well, we are going to find out. Here's Rick Talkett from Los Angeles. Tough league to play catch up in, talk down too early. Yeah, the two power play goals early. You know, a little undisciplined, and then you're chasing the game. And at the same field as the Vegas team, you guys were trying to play way back and then you did a power play. Now, today's game, we're in that bad, but we were in the game today. We had some chances. They converted, we didn't, they only had a couple of chances in the first period. So you can look at the schools and think it's bad, but I kind of actually like the effort guys tried hard. Just too many egregious mistakes, you know, that it's in your net, you know. But yeah, we had a lot of chances, just didn't convert, they did. We've been talking and asking you a lot about the team being in a slot for lack of event. It's 22 games now. Does that? No, I just look at this game. I don't care about what's in the past, we got five games before the playoffs start. So you analyze this game, I don't care what happened in the past. Tonight, like I said, we gave them too much, like that. They gave them a lot of stuff, but when they did, they come to their conversion where it was great, we didn't. We had some chances, we had a couple breakaways, we had something in the high slot. If we connect and then we gave them those free beers early, it's too nothing. So, no, I'm just analyzing this game. Do you have a target for Thatcher? Same as always, I don't have an exact date, but it's fairly soon. The power plate had some better looks than I thought. We had nine or ten shots, yeah, just conversion. We didn't convert, like yeah, it was better, but we got to convert us someplace. I mean, that's a really good ten shot, ten shots, you got to convert. Maybe the next thing we won't. But I'm happy with the way we got the shots, we just got to make sure we've got them in now. That is Canucks head coach Rick Tockett after a six-three loss against the Kings in LA and did not... Brief! Yeah, did not, a very brief, of course, did not want to compare this game to the Vegas game, said that this one was much better. They had some chances that had been converted, liked the effort, but they tried hard, but too many egregious mistakes, and obviously undisciplined and the PK not coming through as well. So, I mean, I think that pretty much sums it up. It wasn't like it was all bad, like we mentioned. The Canucks did good things, but they kept giving the lead back. They kept giving up egregious, you know, making egregious mistakes, and, you know, undisciplined. Let's talk about the first two penalties the Canucks take. Teddy Blueger, who has been a nice find for the Canucks this season. Now he scored a goal, obviously later in the game, short-handed, getting off that was it. How many he had, like, what was the streak he wrote? 36. He has a real long streak for Teddy Blueger, who got a goal, again, his sixth of the season for the Vancouver Canucks. But he's been taking a lot of stick penalties and took another one at the beginning of the first period, where he knocked a stick out of the LA Kings player's hand. I think it was Spencer's hand. Yeah, Blueger slashes Spencer's stick out of his hand, and you can call it a stick lift, but he does a pretty aggressively knocks a stick out, so he goes down. And then Dakota Joshua gets into it for a roughing penalty, punches the player in the face. Now you can say that he's trying to hit him in the chest, but hits him in the face. And yeah, sometimes they let officials let that go, but to me, if you're blaming the officials for those two things, that's essentially saying you were hoping the officials would have bailed you out. You're undisciplined. You should be in a lot better control. And especially for a guy like Joshua taking that second penalty, you're down a goal already. You already were on the PK. You have to be more disciplined. The Canucks weren't. And then to make things even worse, they can kill penalties. And they allow two goals right away. And from that point, the Canucks are chasing. And other people were texting into criticizing Rick Talkett, Bick saying he should have called the timeout after the Canucks were down to nothing. Well, they made a 2-1. It was 2-1 heading into the second period. Is there a point where they go down 3-1 calling a timeout maybe? Sure. And then you go down 4-1 afterwards. Maybe there is a point where you can do it. It doesn't make a difference. I think sometimes we think of the timeout as he didn't call it, if he does it a bit different. It's one of the few things that we can point to that a coach does or doesn't do, and whether it works or doesn't work. So it's fair to bring it up. Do you think that's something that could have worked here tonight for the Canucks? A timeout by the head coach. They were making so many mistakes. So many mistakes. And is the timeout? Look, it's just one of those things. It's hard to say if it works, hard to say if it doesn't. It's really the only move. I think the reason why people bring it up so much is it's changed the lines or call a timeout. That's really all we're talking about can do in a scenario. You're not changing much structurally because you play how you play. You can make the odd adjustment, but by and large the things that are very visible for people that are call a timeout or change the lines. And didn't change the line today even though there was some demand for it in the inbox through the course of the game. So at what point are you calling a timeout? They were kind of carrying play a little bit too. Yeah, so that back half of that period, they were the better team in that first period. So why are you trying to break up the rhythm for what they have? And at some point, you just have to let them work it out themselves. I mean, there has to be some of that too. I mean, there's, you know, in the postseason especially, you're going to have to be able to work through certain things. And if you don't, then obviously you're going to be in a lot of trouble, right? And, you know, what happened to at the beginning of the first period, the Canucks gave up that goal pretty quickly, right? LaFairy area deflects in that spend shot. And we talked about poor D zone coverage and Zadorov and Ian Cole. You know, Zadorov ends up not doing his rotation because McCabe's covering for him kind of standing next to him. Somebody carries a lot more space up top for the Kings players and then Ian Cole doesn't take a LaFairy area. Doesn't body and doesn't take the stick away. Next thing, you know, it's in the back of your net. And, you know, those are those are veteran defensement. And I thought Zadorov tonight had a rough night. I mean, again, we're repeating ourselves, but everybody not named Phillip Oronica had had a pretty difficult night overall this evening. Defending. Yeah, they each made a mistake leading to a goal. Yeah. And the one where it was Trevor Moore's goal, Hironics kind of sweeping for the puck, you know, he's put into a position. We talked about that with Brett, where he's looking to be the relief on that play. So he's kind of out of position to take a pass from Connor Garland and just never makes its way there. And you're always caught up in that play then. But yeah, you go through it. I guess Myers is the only one then too. Was Myers at fault for one? Yeah, I don't think he was kind of Myers. I'm not sure he was really at fault. No, he was on the ice for one. Yeah. But I'm not sure he's the one that was, you know, causing the problems, so to speak. But everyone else, you can find fault in. Yeah. And yeah, just a rough night for the Connects Demon. And what's frustrating too is we know the Kings play that passive style. And yet they were still able to get on Connects Demon fairly often. Yeah. The Connects forwards by and large didn't really get on top of King's Demon on the Forecheck or on Retrievals. And yeah, they weren't out manning guys on the Forecheck. It limits the speed obviously playing against that one, three, one, but they never really got synced up. And the one play that they did led to the Besser goal, where Cole kind of activated Besser hits them out wide. You just see, okay, like they're getting synced up with the blue line. But by and large the course of the evening, it looked really tough for your McCaevs, your Joshua. The guys traditionally would say, who's going to be the F1 to go press around on King's Demon? And just fairly often, they were just a step late. Yeah. Oh, for sure. Mike says, Rick should have pulled the dismiss at 3-1. I mean, is it fair to say, should have made a goal these switch tonight? I mean, to get the guys going, I don't necessarily disagree. Like, whether it's a timeout, whether it's making the goal these switch, I'm not sure any one of them really work out, but was enough done by the head coach to try to stem the bleeding tonight. I think it's a fair question. All right, probably not. All right, probably not, but I think we put too much weight in the timeout, like solving everything. Yeah, and maybe as pulling the goalies, getting the guys, you know, when it goes through, to me, like that 3-1 goal. And maybe actually when it goes 4-1-2, maybe not a bad idea, right? One of the more frustrating parts about this game was the Canucks pulled within two a couple of different times and choked it back right away, you know, and that's kind of disappointing too, where it's kind of like that game against Vegas as well. You get close and you make a mistake, you shoot yourself on the foot again, and stuff like that that really hurts you against teams that play clean hockey. What's strange is he commented that he liked the effort. So if you like the effort, you're going to break up the flow of the game to call a timeout. Now, for me, I didn't think they skated well. I don't disagree. Now, again, if you feel like the timeout stuff, I'm not as sold on, but making goalie switch, I would not have mind. I think that would have been something that I would have liked to see tonight overall. Now, this myth didn't have a great game, can't just blame him, but something I'm certainly in more agreement with. All right, keep your thoughts coming in to our text and inbox, we'll hit more of it. Dylan and Vancouver says, "Elvin and Rutherford, couldn't have spent assets on heavy forward, like Duheem or Trenen." Really could have used a guy like that tonight, Dylan and Vancouver texting in, and, you know, we had the call earlier as well about the Canucks standing pad at the deadline, and I was shocked that they did. I was expecting them to make some sort of move, and it wasn't from a lack of effort. Even Patrick Albein said they were trying very hard, and he joked that he was trying to let him into the door. And when he spoke to us, me and Dan after a trade deadline, you could see he was really down on the fact that he weren't able to make a trade. They really wanted to. Would I have liked to Trenen or a Duheem? Sure, but to me, what they really needed to add up the lineup. Hire up the lineup. Like whether it's somebody to play with JT on the left wing. We talked about Pew Souter, Ambassador being his limes most of the season, or later in the season. Could you upgrade on Souter on the left wing? Could you find somebody to play on the right or left wing with Elias Patterson potentially in your second line to create a little bit more jumps? So there was a couple of different ways they could have addressed the scoring, and they were in on guys like Genssel, couldn't make the deal. They were in on Tofoli, weren't able to make that deal. And even to a lesser extent, guys like Jason Zuker, and those are the types of guys that I would have liked to see them add one. Obviously they weren't able to, but to me, that's the bigger miss. Not being able to get somebody to play with either Miller or Patterson, as opposed to down your lineup. But sure, I mean you can always add some more depth. And if we're talking about guys like Olm on and getting into lineup here and there, then sure, you could have upgraded on that as well. Yeah, I'm less concerned about the lower end of the lineup, because credit to him. Some like put goals in, to me is probably done enough to stay in the lineup. And Kid tonight is probably not the best night for him, with being a dash one. I just didn't see the natural physicality, but he's been very physical since maintaining this audition that he's had here. So like do Haim is basically just that. Just more technical experience, obviously. So that obviously could be useful, but I have really had a problem with what we've seen from the bottom end of the lineup here from the Canucks recently. It's the top end. And you know, I think by and large, like maybe Brock Bessner was the best forward tonight. Yeah, I guess it's 39th goal of the season. Dakota Joshua had some good moments, but obviously took a bad penalty. And somebody asked what did he say to get a 10 minute misconduct? I'm not sure, but I guess it's something to do with the officials making the call on him and gets a 10 minute misconduct as well. And obviously Teddy Blueger gets a six goal of the season. Those were your three goal scores here tonight for the Vancouver Canucks. All right, keep your thoughts coming in. We'll hit some more texts as a show goes on here. Jay in Poco says, "It's just so Canucks to dominate most of the season only to fall apart when it matters most." But apparently this team did not need more at the deadline. First round exit seems likely. A lot of those thoughts, first round exit. So hopefully the Canucks prove people wrong. I mean, I hope so. I hope so, right? I mean, I know every single Canucks fan texting in wants to see this team win in the playoffs. They will love to be proven wrong. They just don't have a lot of confidence, right? Peter Vancouver says, "Guys, generally love the show. Respect your expertise." But can you honestly say that with your guts, sorry, hang on. But can you honestly say that your guts tell you that this team is going to do well in the postseason? Look, we're here to have a conversation. I'm not here to try to be the authority of telling you how to feel. I mean, if you feel the team is going to lose in round one, you're smart hockey fans. Now, there's a difference between their doom than round one and making a long run. It's going to be hard to make a long run. I think there's a chance, but the Canucks, like as we've mentioned, would not be favored. Obviously against Edmonton would not be favored against Dallas, would not be favored against Colorado. And even against Vegas, they may not be favored against them. Do they have a chance against those teams? Yeah, they do. But they're certainly not favorites. Now, in the first round, I'm not as doom and gloom about the first round, the second round to be on. Yeah, I can't sit here and tell you I'm confident they're going to go in a deep run. I'm just not sure that they're doomed necessarily. That's ultimately the overall point that I would want to get across about how things have gone with this team recently. Rob and Victoria and others are texting in asking us about what are your thoughts on the hit on Queen Hughes? Right, yeah, we didn't get to this. No, so it's a hit late in the third period. It was Trevor Moore hit Queen Hughes and hits him in the numbers. Quinn obviously gets a little shaken up, a bit of a scrum, nothing really comes out of it. And Trevor Moore gets a two-minute penalty for boarding. I just failed to see how different this hit is from the Zadorov one, where Zadorov got a five-minute major in a game misconduct. Also hit from behind. Players both hurt. Yeah, I don't know if this one was as forceful as these Zadorov boys. But it's later. There was a lot more intent to put the guy through the boards, but this one was significantly later. What's late in this hit from behind? Yeah. And now, how did him was somewhat cut from his visor or something, right? He laid, he stayed down, didn't leave the game. He stayed in the game and came back. So what's a degree of injury that has to happen for a five-minute major to happen? Is it a cut? Is that all it takes? So visor cut has to happen, which is kind of based on sheer luck, if anything else. If somebody gets injured or not, it's not an injury where the player left for the game. Is that an injury that led to a player missing time? So how come this one's a two-minute penalty and the other one's a five-minute major? And that's why I was frustrated about that callback the other night because I'm like, consistently, the NHL doesn't call this a five-minute major. They don't. I want to see them call, they don't call it. And I'm like, next time we see this, we're probably not going to call it. And lo and behold, next time it happens, they don't call it a five-minute major. So it goes back to the inconsistencies of the calls. So fans are absolutely right to point to that and say, what's the difference here compared to what happened to the other game? And I think that's a big part of the frustration with the officiating in the National Hockey League. Yeah, it's our constant commentary at times. What's that officiating right now? Is that an all-time low it feels like across all sports? Yeah, again, my initial reaction to this one, you said it to me in real time. My first thought was it's late, but the contact doesn't look as bad as these adorable ones, but it is extremely late. And not necessarily a hockey player at that stage. No, not at all. That's the way I view it as well, Dick. Keep your thoughts coming in. We'll hit more of your texts as the show goes on here. Let's go to the foam boards. Let's go to Langley, where we have Adrian on the line. Adrian, thanks for calling in. Now, what are your thoughts after 6-3 Canucks loss? Hey, boys. First time, long time. Love the show. Love it. Rookie lap here. Yeah, right on. Yeah. Awesome. So I got a lot of points here. I just went much in the games. And... I was like, "What is up with him taking the penalties, man?" Yeah. Like, every time he's in the penalty box, he seems to score. It sure seems that way. I'm like, "I'm not assigned him, but I don't know, man." Anyway, Patterson, you got to stick with him, man. He'll come through. He'll come through. He loves. Put him into that game. Why not? You're in the playoffs already. So, hey, why not? Try him out. I like the way... I like the way he plays. You know, and... But this and that Euler's game on Saturday is going to be a big one. Yeah, it's going to be huge. I think so, man. Yeah. So... Anyway, yeah. There's a few guys that, you know, Besser... He's... He did all right tonight. McCabe. No show. Anyway... Hoglander. You know, he's got a fighting spirit. I like because he's stepping up. What do you think about tonight if Lindholm had a play? You think of what it made a difference? Yeah, I mean, it potentially could have. Thanks to the phone call, Adrian, calling it from Langley. Good first phone call. Do that again anytime, man. I appreciate the thoughts coming in. I mean, Lindholm, I think, would have made a difference tonight, yeah? Come up this evening, 48% of the draw. Which is the first thing I'm looking at with Lindholm nowadays. Yeah. Just because that's where he was most effective. Just winning face-offs. Would he have helped him the PK? He's had his own PK struggles, but he started winning the first draw. How much does that take care of? Some issues as well. In general, though, the thing is that we haven't really seen the best of Lindholm. So I'm not really sure outside of face-offs what is being taken away right now. He's a smart player and he wins along the walls, but he wasn't exactly generating chance after chance after chance. I mean, I think if you have Lindholm on the line-up, I think it elongates your offense a little bit. And by that, I mean, now you can move Dakota, Joshua, and Garland off of JT Miller's line and put JT maybe back with Besser again. And then have whole Atlanta Wood-Peterson. And I think if you do that, you would have a bit more push at the bottom of your roster. And the other thing, too, is the other thing we talked about tonight that was lacking by Canucks forward was back pressure. One thing Lindholm was really good at is back pressure covering space on four checkers and the way he tracks back. And that was lacking by Canucks forward to a large extent at times. And I think that's an area that, generally speaking, Lindholm excels in. So I do think he would have made a difference tonight. Now, would that have meant to Canucks win? I'm not saying that, but I do think he would have helped him this evening. We mentioned this last game when he does and never really come back. By the way, it's like eight penalties now for Teddy Blueprint in the last 25-some odd game. It's tough, and it's bad. And it's all stick infraction. It's like Slash, Hook, high stick. It's like for a guy who, and I know he didn't play every game, but he went to the Cup Final. He's been on Good Pittsburgh teams. Like he's a guy who's a smart player. Like it's just inexcusable to keep taking this many bad penalties. This one was early, but he's taken some back breakers late in games as well for the team recently. Yeah, it hasn't been great. But we mentioned when Lindholm comes back, is there one more attempt for him in the top six? So reading Ian McIntyre's article, and he spoke to Trockett and Lindholm, my guess would be that Lindholm goes back to playing center. That would be my guess. Now, I'm with you. I don't mind seeing it again. I like Lindholm playing center. But if I'm going by what the coaches said and what he prefers, and honestly, if you look at the way bluegers play recently, you look at the fourth line, and their usage recently, what do you think is going to prioritize? My guess would be to shore up the middle of the ice, right? Yeah. Is this, man, what a missed opportunity, I guess, to identify what really was the biggest issue. And a lot of people have texted in saying the Lindholm trade, turning out to be a bust. To me, it was always solving another winger. Yeah. The thing is, though, so people are checking this into the, it's coming in. Jake Genssel, the connection to Jake Genssel. Was there? I'm not sure. Look, even if you retain Bruce Davis, you retain the first rounder. I don't know if you had enough to match that. Pittsburgh wanted players that were relatively close, and they wanted a few prospects. They prioritized that over picks. And the three prospects they got from... The Hurricanes? Hurricanes were better than even Bruce Davis and what the Canucks offered. So I'm not sure there was a way for the Canucks to pull that trade off for Jake Genssel. Ultimately speaking for the pieces, I don't think they lined up well in terms of trade partners. The Tifoli one, it's like, if you don't trade the first, can you outbid another team by trading a first with Tifoli? Fair, right? I mean, he went for a second and a third. The Canucks didn't have a second, but would you rather have made this trade or just traded a first trade up for Tifoli? Yeah, I guess you put it that way. That's the way you could have done. Honestly, we had to fully but higher. I like Lindholm as the acquisition. I'm not going to turn around and say I didn't, but I like to fully as well. In hindsight, it hasn't worked the way you had hoped. I still think come play-off time. There's real value down the middle. There is still a way they can make it work. They can't, absolutely. It's not the idealized version of what I want to prioritize. Yeah, no, I get it. But I think that's ultimately it. I don't think the Genssel things in play, but if you want to view it as... I've had a first round pick to win the sweepstakes for Tifoli. Yeah, potentially, right? Does New Jersey take a second and a third or a late first? Probably a late first. What about the off-season though for some of these guys? Who are the intrigue? I would be interested, and especially depending on what they end up doing with Brock Bester, of course, who has a year left on his contract, but then needs an extension. Do you extend him or do they move off of him? That's also a big question coming up. But again, those are more off-season questions and concerns that people may have. All right, keep your thoughts coming in to our Dunbar lever text sandbox, 650-650. We'll hit some of your texts as the show goes on here. And a lot of people are asking about the lines. We'll play some Connect Player audio as well post-game and get their thoughts. The thing I wanted to hit too, because we got this a few different times about... I'm not sure what the odds are, but if the connects don't win the division, is the coach still favored to win the Jack Adams? Ooh! And I think, so the way I view it is, both for Queen Hughes and both for... It's for the Connect Pocket. The best way for them to lose their hold on her trophies is for the connects to choke away first in the division, because then it becomes a bit of a recency bias too. It's like, well, look at Queen Hughes, his team, they don't hold on to first in division. Look at Colorado and Kale McCarach scored more goals, and people take recency bias, right? And even for the head coach, if they don't win the division, does that take some of the shine off or a target? It could. Like, I do think it doesn't make it nearly as... They're not gonna be nearly as favored, I think, if they don't win the division. Because it shows a bit of a slip, and you know, recency bias plays a big part in the voting by PHW writers as well. Alright, keep your thoughts coming in, we'll hit more of them on the other side, and we'll get to Ian McIntyre as well. After 6-3 Canucks loss, right here on the home here Canucks, SportsNet 650. Kings 2-4-2 on the power play thus far tonight. Two shots, two goals on their man advantage band. The Canucks win the face off, here they come. Three on one shorthand, Zidorov left wing, Sanders for Blueger going to the goal. It's loose with a crease, he scores. Teddy Blueger's shorthand, pulls the Canucks back to within two, it's 5-3 with more than seven minutes left in the third period. Zidorov shoots out of this face off like a cannon. Fiala is playing the right wing, and he realizes he's not gonna be the first, but I think he thinks Zidorov's just gonna chip it off the wall. Zidorov makes it move to the backhand, and then all of a sudden they're off to the races. Zidorov's 3-1 goes wide and just shovels it to the middle, and there's Blueger just banging it away. I have to crease, short-handed within two. Teddy Blueger brought the Canucks within two, but they end up losing by 3-6-3 in LA against the Kings. And this is the Canucks Central Post Game Show presented by the number five orange on the home of the Canucks. Sports in the 650, and the Sports in that Radio Network, Satyar Shah with Big Nizar. Keep your thoughts coming into our text inbox, 650-650. We are gonna get to more of your thoughts as the show goes on here, and we are gonna have our good friend, the Triple Threat Ian McIntyre join us in about 10-15 minutes time as well. The breakdown, what happened in LA against the Kings? Now, before we get to more of your thoughts on the text inbox, and we'll get to some of the interaction, let's get the thoughts of a Canucks player post game as well. We heard from the head coach Rick Talkett. Let's hear what J.T. Miller has a state tonight. Had an assist, but not enough for the Canucks to win this one, losing 6-3 in LA. And here is J.T. Miller post game, meeting with the media. J.T., what are you guys learning from this one? It's kind of a hard one to evaluate, I think. It's frustrating. We seem to crack more than they did, and they won the special teams game. I know each team's got shorties, but they capitalized their power play, and we didn't. What was the difference when you guys were able to shift the momentum and score and kind of get back within it? We just kept shooting ourselves in the foot, and I'm not saying we can't make mistakes, but it just cost us today. When you're putting yourself behind early against LA and the way they play defensively, just how difficult is it having to play from uphill the whole way? You know, I shouldn't change anything about our game plan. We know they defend well, but so do we. And they make their own everything, and it's an experienced group. We're certainly going to be in situations like this moving forward, so we've got to find a way to not make as many big mistakes in the games like that. That is J.T. Miller post game, obviously a bit disappointed about what happened. I like the way that they said we seemed to crack more than they did, and that's what's frustrating against a team like LA. You know you have to wait for your opportunities. You know you have to stay disciplined. You know you've got to not play into the danger areas where they want you to go, and there's the admission. We seem to crack more than they did. And as we were talking about with Brett, you're not always going to break in with pace on that 131, but the times they did, they made it look so easy. J.T.'s opportunity on the Joshua goal. It's just a D&D pass from a huge hero, and I can J.T. it's the whole, and it's just fed in perfectly. But throughout the course of this year, they had such trouble generating any sort of speed, and the few times they did, like Patterson and Feeds Garland in, that one was on the power play. But a nice little play at the neutral zone, right before the blue, by Patterson, slides Garland in on a breakaway. We talked about the Cole play with Besser that linked up for the Besser play, so they had plenty of opportunities to get back into this game and break down that stifling 131. But just didn't, and it just looked like such a struggle, and they made so many mistakes. No, for sure, way too many mistakes tonight. John the contributor says, "Hey boys, tuning in to the post-game show Late Here, wondering if you guys have revisited your on-air fight from the other night. I'm with Bick, Shillov's is our official backup in my mind as of tonight." And like I said, and I'll mention this again. Casey the Smith is still going to be the backup. When Thatcher Demko gets healthy, Shillov's will get sent down. Do I want to see Shillov's play? Sure, and like I mentioned, like the coach said, Shillov's is going to get one more game, most likely. Then why not give him the game on Monday considering Shillov's the last two starts as one? Better trend, the last couple starts that the Smith have not been great. So, if you look at the last four games, Shillov's was one, and if he's going to play another game, I'd rather have Shillov's play on Monday. So, I do agree with you, Bick. But I still, but the Smith's going to be the backup in the playoffs. I hate to tell you, but that's what this is going to happen. I don't really agree with you. No, I agree with you about what should happen on Monday. Sure. Sure. I'm going to focus on the playoffs. Are you looking ahead as well? The hypothetical injury that may or may not happen. Do that again. Yeah. My opinion on that's not going to change. Exactly. But I do agree that if you're looking at the next game, like who would you start on Monday? I would still probably go to Smith. Wow. Yeah. Wow. All right. You just played against Vegas three days ago, or three games ago? No, no, but you wanted him to play on Saturday, so I'm surprised you were saying dismiss should play on Monday. Well, changing my opinion on reality, I guess. Our reality is, I guess, that's good. This is far more cordial than last time, and we'll say that much. Mike says, "Just another vote for Shillov's to start in the playoffs. Don't have Demko yet." Great show, guys. That's another one agreeing with you. Thank goodness Demko, we'll be back with that. Okay. I wanted to read this. Okay, go ahead. Go ahead. From Trenvis G, which I'm not sure if this is an anagram for Travis Green, but nevertheless. These losses are not goaltender related. The concern for me comes from the fact they look like they're searching for their game right now. I think it's totally fair to analyze end of season play. This close to the playoffs of the cuts were losing a game and having a bounce back game where they were playing their style of hockey that they played early in the season. I think that would help curb some of the panic. Sure, they've had some good games since the All-Star break, but as of late, they are scrambling. That one's from Trenvis G. As you mentioned earlier, since the All-Star break, they've been one of the better defensive teams, and I think the shifting reality that I'm not sure people are absorbing right now is this team is meant to be a defensive team. The goal scoring from earlier part of the season was an outlier, and not even just because of PDO and any of that sort of stuff. I just never expected the team to score at that rate earlier in the season. The version of the Canucks that we've gotten these past six weeks to me is far more indicative of who they were supposed to be. Yeah. And now it's paired with Aftergemko being out. How much did that adjust to your thoughts? But that stretch there, where they came back from that road trip, or they had that road trip and the first half of that homestand, that to me is who they were supposed to be. And it hasn't been clean, obviously, but I never really thought there were a 115-point team. They're always going to slide back a little bit, but I didn't think there were like a 90-point team either. But this recent stretch, what are they now? 14, 11, and 3 since the All-Star break? Is it 14 or 14? Okay, is it? Okay. Right, 14, 11, and 3, right? Right, okay. So, I thought it was 14, 14 and 11, but I didn't do the math right. No, I think I'm right. You might be right. On air math. On air math. Well, you do the math. Like I said, I don't know. So, yeah, I think the early goal-scoring convinced people that this team was a high-flying team. And they were searching for a goal-scoring winger at the deadline. And it was really just a place, Andre Kuzmaku, who wasn't playing very well. Yeah. And so, the high-flying nature of the goals going in in the early part of the season may be masked who they actually are. Yeah, no, and I think we said this a few times, but I agree with that earlier this season, too, they were scoring at a rate that was probably not sustainable, but they could still win a lot of hockey games by being good defensively. And even if they stop scoring, they're not going to go from being one of the best to one of the worst-scoring teams. So, if you look at how the Canucks have fared here, five-on-five, and they're scoring, they haven't been one of the worst five-on-five scores. The biggest issue, I think, has been on the power play, right? Like if the Canucks power play, instead of being bottom-third of the league since December, essentially, how much different are there overall goal totals? Because I'm not sure that they've been, yeah, they're not scoring at the same rate they were scoring earlier this season, because the Canucks earlier this season were the best team in the National Hockey League scoring five-on-five in terms of goals per 60 rate at five-on-five. And if you look at where the Canucks have been now, since the All-Star break, they are... Let me bring this up... 20-second in the National Hockey League. Not great. It's not great, but they're not like, you know, 30. So, and if you look at 20-second in terms of five-on-five scoring, 2.43, which is negligible all the way up to 16. It's only a 0.5 different, 0.05 different. So, they're kind of in between that swath of teams from 16 all the way to 22 that are essentially negligible in terms of their five-on-five scoring rate. So, they've gone from being top of the league to middle of the pack five-on-five scoring-wise. It's really the special team scoring that hasn't been where it needs to be. A lot of text about this as well, 6.50, 6.50. Do you think Lukeromaki is ready? He's in town and he scored tonight. Well, Steve, yeah. Steve on Sannich, he said, "He killed McCar. The abs gave kill McCar playoff experience without any real experience in NHL. The Canucks do the same with DPD and Lukeromaki because they're not shaking anything up on this roster. Let's not compare DPD to KAL McCar. You think that's... Let's just do a safe one there? Do you think there's a slight difference? Yeah, I think we can agree on the scale is slightly different. Lukeromaki, you know, an exciting player, but I understand what he's texting in about. Do you give these guys a chance? I don't know. I feel that's grasping at things. Well, also, the other thing with Lukeromaki is, like, he might still get selected to go to the World Championship. Yeah, sure. And I mean, part of the plan in the Canucks said this, that he's coming over here for a few weeks, and he could still go back to Europe and play, so... You press it so much that you want to put up with the big club. I feel like that supersedes World Championships. Yeah, I mean, yes. I just don't know if that's going to happen. I would be stuck. I would be stuck. I mean, today was his third goal. Third game for school. Yeah, third game for school. Third game for school. It's like just keep giving him some time, right? Like, I pumped the brakes on. I mean, I think the lesson here, too, is we saw R. Steve Baines, who has even more experience at the A.H.O. level so far, right? Significantly more experience. All-star game MVP showed well for a game or two, but shows he's not quite ready yet. And I think that's just something you have to be realistic about, that he still needs time most likely. If he scores another couple goals and plays well, do they give him a recall? One of the recalls late in the season. To me, I'm not sure they do that, Vic, because all two R.H.O. has, like, 15 points in his last 14 games, where the guys who spent the whole year, they're working and trying to get one tastier at the end of the season, and are they going to give it to Lekara Mackey when they have these other guys that have been playing so well all year? Certainly, certainly. And how much are you bringing the plan up over a handful of games? If the plan was to give Lekara Mackey just a handful of practices and sprinkling of a couple of games before sending them back overseas for the World Championships, are you changing the plan up that much? Alright, $6.50, $6.50, here's some, some people text again, "Lolo. People need to chill, connect some control play for a good head control play for a good amount of the game. A couple of reflections or bounces, connects, and the score could have been reversed. Demko back in net will bring a big boost to the team. Bring on the playoffs!" You know, that's painting in a certain way. I think they just made so many mistakes this evening that the Kings would have capitalized on some of the chances. You go through it today, and I know he uses gas on that last Kempe goal, but they give the puck away on the Moore goal, Leferiair. Guys are just detached from players. Fial the goal, Sussi's got to do significantly better. They had their issues with the course of the game. Yeah, yeah. There are a lot of issues to go around, and the man who was there to watch it all is the man we call the triple threat. You watch him on TV, you read his great work on Digital as well, a fantastic article in the Lies Lindholm and also a chat with Jim Rutherford, a lot of great content. By Ian McIntyre, who now joins us on radio, I'm back. Always a pleasure. What's going on, my friend? How are you? Doing well. Last time I was here, I was giving you a play-by-play post game. Oh, right. Talk about the taco truck. Oh, did you make it this time? Well, I'm staying at a different hotel. Oh. I'm not going to wander over to the taco truck. But I am here until tomorrow afternoon. Okay. So it may be a taco Sunday. That doesn't sound very good. It may be a Sunday to have tacos. There you go. That's better. Are you at a party? What's going on behind you? No, I'm out front of Crypto.com Arena. Oh, okay. So you're in LA live? Yeah. Yeah, which is always a party. Yeah, I mean, it's LA after all, right? So they always have a good reason. Yeah, I mean, but you know me. I'm usually at the after party. Well, yeah, you're the life of the party, really. Yeah, no matter what the party don't start until the Mac shows up. Return of the Mac. The Mac. Oh, yeah. I'm like a truck. Yeah. Well, I mean, Nate, I think it's all a good comparison. It's really I-Mac. But you know, listen, the head coach post game, he did not seem as concerned about the effort as a lot of our fans do. You see our text inbox, a lot of doom and gloom and concern about how the Canucks played. What did you make of how they performed tonight? Was it just a case of making one too many mistakes or were they just off the pace all night? Well, they didn't give themselves a chance by taking the two penalties in the first five minutes and being unable to kill either. I mean, LA doesn't need a two goal head start to beat you. We've seen that with this team and they're, you know, if you think one, three, one is a tough slog when it's tied. You know, good luck when when your two goals down. By the way, I'm just warning you. You guys may hear some things as I'm walking. Okay. Okay. It's an interest. It's an interesting downtown dynamic here. So we've been warned. Yeah, effort. I think sometimes people kind of use that as a default that any time the game doesn't go well while they didn't try hard enough and that's. I don't think that's the case. There are games where the effort hasn't been there. Tonight wasn't one of them. I mean, I think the shot attempts were almost two to one for Vancouver. The high danger scoring chances in all situations, but, you know, you can't, you can't take your stupid pills before the game and take penalties that you don't need to be taking. And the blue recall, I would have to see it again. It's one of the things when you're on the road, depending on the building. Sometimes you're at a loss to see all the replays that you would want to see. But, you know, the Joshua penalty was certainly a penalty and it was completely unnecessary. And they're down, they're down to nothing again against the team that you don't want to be trailing at all. So, you know, tonight, you know, if you, if you, if you play that game. You do 10 times without the two nothing head start, the way the Canucks played, they probably win seven of them. Well, but unfortunately you can't detach the those first five minutes. And to me, the bigger thing and it's what, you know, talk, it didn't want to talk about post game is just the trend that we've seen here. It's been 22 games now, the Canucks are 500 teams. So is, is that a slump? Or is that who they are? And I know that sounds harsh and I actually don't believe this is who they are. I believe that they're somewhere between the team we saw for the first 55 games. And the team that we've seen for the last 22. But it's only five games down to the playoffs and they better find. Find a compromise between these two teams in a hurry, because the one that's played the last 22 games. Has had is not going to have success in the playoffs unless. They played better and when I say better, a lot of it just comes down to. To finishing and scoring and that includes. You know, the power play because the defensive part of their game as we've talked about. It's actually come along with and, you know, they. They control possession in most of the games. You know, they've become a very good analytics team like who thought that would happen. But they have, but they're just not scoring and obviously. They are now missing Patrick Denko, Casey, the Smith. Did a great job initially. It's not the first time. A team turns to its backup and gets some good games, but over time. You know, use the backup and you're missing your starter. And I'm not hanging, you know, today's game on on dismissed. But they haven't had the gold tending. Lately that you need if you're going to be successful in the playoffs. It's another thing they've black. JT said something that I thought was interesting saying that we seem to crack more than they did and we kept shooting ourselves in the foot. And, you know, we've talked about, hey, they are this defensive team and that's their identity. For me, the losses seem to follow a familiar pattern of a lot of mistakes happened that were unforced or whatever. Do we have to start factoring that in as well when we talk about this team that these mistakes will creep up or is this just as much a game of mistakes? Well, it's always a game of mistakes. I, you know, I don't think they made more mistakes than what L.A. did tonight, but they, they put it in the state. And the goal ending does have a lot to do with that. And so does, you know, basic defending. So it's one thing. You know, they give up. The breakaway, which goal was just mentioned a bit. Was that the more goal? Yeah, you see, no, sorry, that was. Yeah, yeah. So, you know, it's one thing to give up the breakaway. But then when you don't, you don't tie up the guy after your goalie makes the initial save, well, you know, you can't, you can't have plays like that. So, yeah, it's, they do make mistakes and we have seen that, you know, they sometimes come at critical times. And this isn't the first time that pocket is used the word egregious post game when talking about his things mistakes. But I don't see that they're necessarily making more mistakes than the other team, but they're perhaps making it. Making more of them at critical times. And they're not showing the same resilience. They don't have the same survivability right now that they did in the first two thirds of the season. Yeah, and I think that's obviously something that has a turn now. You know, I referenced you had some great info on the lies Lindholm and Thatcher Demko on your article about when they may come back and play with the team again. And if you had to look at the lies Lindholm, should we not expect them until the last game or two of the season at this rate? I would, I know that he wants to hopes to play before that. And based on based on the fact that he, you know, fully practicing now with the team, like he wasn't in a contact jersey. Yesterday, he was in a, he was in a whole contact jersey and he was participating and he was, they didn't do a whole lot of battle. Well, I was going to say they didn't do a whole lot of battle drills. They worked a lot on getting to the front of the net and that's, that's battling. Normally, if you're at that stage, you know, once you get in, you know, one or maybe two more full practices, as long as you feel good, you should be back in. So, you know, the Canucks, I haven't seen whether they're going to practice tomorrow. I saw guys working out after the game tonight. So I'm guessing, is it posted yet on Canucks PR? I will check in a second. I'm guessing tomorrow's off the play Monday and practice Tuesday, play Wednesday. So, yeah, no, I would, yeah, I would think that, that Lidstrom, you know, two games minimal, I'd say, may be free with a little lock screw. Not a whole lot, though. Not a whole lot to get ready. No, there isn't, right? And I think, you know, to your questions, who connects PR has not yet made an announcement on the skate tomorrow, but I'm sure we'll get one here. If it's not now, probably early tomorrow morning. Are you in like a mad max environment? There's like dirt bikes going on and like, and horns going off? I'm very concerned for your welfare right now. Oh, no, I'm okay. I'm okay. Ellie, Ellie has changed quite a bit. It probably sounds worse than it is. Oh, that's good. I have had people screaming at me, you know, but that's, you're so tall. And that happens on Twitter all the time. Yeah. And it also happens in most major cities, including Vancouver. Although I can't think of the last time somebody on the street screamed at me in Vancouver. No, we get other than maybe other than maybe something nice. Right. Because I was walking with sat and they saw sat and so they, you know, had to stream their joy at sea and seeing him and I happened to be along. I got in the back of the selfie or something. Oh, no, Ian's just being modest about all the stars and the autographs he signs on his way to and from every destination he goes from. But yeah, listen, we'll let you get to your destination safely here and we're looking forward to seeing you in person again Monday, the connection back home to take on the Vegas Golden Knights. Well, I'll look forward to seeing you guys in person as well. And I'll just say quickly because I wasn't able to reasons beyond my control and mostly reasons within the Arizona Coyotes control. I wasn't wasn't able to join you after the game in Arizona, but it was a really interesting experience being in Mallet Arena. And there was constant fan interaction, because the media work areas on the concourse, where I am separated from the public. I have velvet rope. Yeah. So people, people would literally as I was working. Hey, Ian. Hey, how's it going on? You know, and everyone I have to say. Really nice. Right. Of course. Really nice. A lot of a lot of Canucks fans there. A lot of positive feedback course. Most were only asking where's sat, but it was nice to have that kind of feedback. It's just, you know, challenging when you're on deadline and trying to work. No kidding. I mean, it's not a very professional environment and not a professional organization. And hopefully there are better days ahead in Arizona or, or for God's sake, please move the team to a place that you can have a real arena on a real fans show up. Right. So we'll see if that actually happens. Let's hope so. I will. I will feel badly. So for people in the Phoenix area, if the team moves, because I do think I do think they're hockey fans. I do think if they had the right owners and the right rank. It could be a successful franchise instead of a constant drain on the on the NHL and its players. But it's been a long time waiting for that. I'd be surprised if the current ownership group can make that happen. Yeah, and I think deep down the league feels the same way and we'll see if that ultimately does come to pass or not. But Ian great stuff as always. Can't wait to read your latest on SportsNet.ca and make sure to go check out his profile. If you missed his latest articles, a lot of good stuff from Ian as always. So we appreciate your time. Yes, sounds good. We're very relieved Ian. We're really happy to keep you company and keep you safe. You know, we had your back if something happened. We'd be on 911 real quick. Yeah, you know what? I actually feel safer when I'm talking to you guys as I'm walking. There we go. Thanks for being there for me. That's what we do. We're here for everybody and thank you. Good night. Good night. That is Ian McIntyre. Fantastic stuff as always. Make sure to read his latest on SportsNet.ca. That brings us to the end of the show. He's bignessar. Bignessar is back on the People Show on Monday. We'll be back on the postgame show as well. Hopefully it connects when against the Vegas Golden Knights. We'll see if our listeners feel as confident about it or not, but we'll see about it. But always a pleasure for the people texting and calling in, listening, participating or not, or just idly listening by. It's a lot of fun. We appreciate every single one of you. Can't wait to do this again. Have a great evening. This has been the Connect Central postgame show presented by the number five orange. A Vancouver legend. They've got sports too.
