AP News. I'm Ed Donahue. In a video message today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not backing off on his pledge to invade Rafa, declaring it will happen. There is a date. National Security spokesman John Kirby says we have consistently made clear that we don't support a major ground operation in Rafa. I would also add that we don't see any signs that such a major ground operation is imminent. Netanyahu spoke as Israeli negotiators were in Cairo, discussing international efforts to broker a ceasefire deal with Hamas. People in Texas are getting a chance to see it. The total solar eclipse will be in view elsewhere soon, as it makes its way across the country. Space expert Patricia Reef at Rice University in Texas is watching. When the corona comes out and it goes total, it's like this high ball looking at you from space because the sun, instead of being bright, is dark and it has this white halo around it and it's like somebody's eye looking down at you. The best weather for eclipse viewing is expected at the tail end in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Eye protection is needed with proper eclipse glasses and filters to look at the sun. The Justice Department is blasting Republican efforts to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt over his refusal to turn over unredacted materials related to the special counsel probe into President Biden's handling of classified documents. The nation's most influential banker, JP Morgan Chase, CEO Jamie Dimon told investors he continues to expect the economy to be resilient and grow this year. But he worries geopolitical events, including the war in Ukraine and the Israel Hamas war, as well as US political polarization, might be creating an environment that might very well be creating risks that could eclipse anything since World War II. This is AP News. Jury selection starts next week in Donald Trump's Hush Money trial. The former president has a last minute maneuver to try to delay it. The AP's Julie Walker is in New York. Trump's lawyers filed paperwork with a New York appeals court showing that he is seeking to sue Manhattan judge Juan Mershan, according to an online court docket. The documents themselves were placed under seal. Trump had pledged to appeal after Mershan ruled at a march hearing that the trial would begin April 15th. Trump has a sailed Mershan and his daughter, who's a Democratic political consultant on social media in recent weeks and last week renewed his request for the judge to step aside. Julie Walker, New York. Iran's foreign minister is accusing the US of giving Israel the green light for a strike on its consulate building in Syria that killed seven Iranian military officials, including two generals.
