Welcome, ladies and gentlemen. Here we are. We've got our our Monday live cast a little bit of a truncated cast for you tonight. We've got Eric and Paul Ian is Out somewhere in the world looking at dwellings for he and his 50 children. So he's not going to be joining us tonight. We've got some really cool recruiting. This is a massive weekend for recruiting. We're absolutely going to get into that. Obviously, the Basketball tournaments are coming to a close. We've had the women's clothes there tournament. And one of the things that's become a talking point amongst The zeitgeist now, it's almost it's it's a term that's being used almost more frequently than the word genius is the word the idea of a goat, right? The greatest of all time and I can I know I can speak for Eric and I can certainly speak for Paul us being of a certain vintage. We have a we have an understanding of the etymology of this. We understand where it came from. We know why it's here. But for those younger viewers, I just I want to give you a little bit of a history lesson and let you understand exactly where goat came from. Everybody stop talking now attention. I told you all of my critics. I told you all that I was the greatest of all time on a piece on the listen. I told you today. I'm still the greatest of all time. Never again defeat me. Never again say that I'm going to be defeated. Never again that make me then the dog until I'm about 50 years old. Then you might get me. In the early 2000s, Tashin books released a giant tome strictly a photography of Muhammad Ali entitled the goat, the greatest of all time. Obviously, hello cool J released his album G O A T and now it is something that we use to define greatness in all ways. And one of the questions I have for the lads tonight is The question that has come up with Caitlin Clark, someone that is broke virtually every single ref every single record attainable in her particular field, but not a championship. So let's start with the really simple question that is hard to answer is can you be the goat in your particular field and not win a championship. We'll start with you, Paul. Oh, that's a that's a tough question. So can you be the best at your particular activity and never went at all. So the bigger the team sport. It's possible right. But it seems like you need a championship at least one to be a qualifier. But I'm glad you played the Muhammad Ali clip because that is the etymology of goat right it got revived sort of In the 80s with the LL cool J thing and then there's there's a rap song in the 90s. I think they referenced it. And that's how it came back in the lexicon. But Muhammad Ali lost five times. Good people forget right, but well, they think some people think the goat qualifiers are like Floyd Mayweather. You're unblemished or Super Bowls. You can't be the goat. It's like, well, that's that's not how it works. It's not that you Diversity, it's that you rose above it, right? And I think the Ali thing is relevant because I don't think he's the greatest Boxer of all time. You know, that's to a lay person. That's like offensive. How dare you? But if you if you really like Are student of boxing, there are greater boxers within their time or era. But part of Ali's appeal was his charisma and his transcendence right beyond the sport. He had his peak. I think he was probably the most He was the most known human being arguably on the planet. Oh, yeah, indubitably. Like, absolutely. Now that would be a soccer guy probably. Is it messy? Is it Ronaldo? Sure. So I heard that messy can go out like at night in Miami and shop and not get mobed. But that's an American context, right? Whereas I don't think Ronaldo can do that. I don't know. But bottom line is I think goat probably also speaks not just to accomplishment in the sport, but transcendence. Like you're bigger than just the sport. And so, you know, I think Tom Brady sort of gets that ultimate winner sort of thing. So your original question, because you can you be the goat without a championship? I think you should be able to be because the larger the team sport, you can't it's not your fault if you got drafted by the wrong team, right? But I think most people use it as a qualifier. You got to have at least one championship. What do you think name a name a name a goat that doesn't have one and you mentioned one guy that could be possibly mentioned, at least as far as the height of his sport goes in Christian or Ronaldo. Now, of course, he would be mobbed in South Beach, but not just by the women. He'd be quite busy down there. I imagine You know, he doesn't have a World Cup, but it's not his fault. He was born in Portugal instead of Spain, you know, Spain there in Spain's amazing run around 2010 2008. He was just one country over, you know, had he been, you know, 500 miles away. We'd be talking about the unanimous goat, probably just because he'd have two World Cups, the Euro, and then all the other league championships and stuff. But Leonardo Messi, he finally won one this last time. He was going to really test it. He actually won one with Argentina. So I think if you look at all the goats, Wayne Gretzky, what do you win, like nine or 10? I mean, he definitely didn't get nine or 10, but he was definitely up there. I think he's, I think he's got like at least four. Yeah, four, five Islanders win. I mean, I thought not the Islanders, the Oilers, I thought he won a handful with them. Yeah. Once with the key. I know that. Well, he was in the finals with the Kings. Yeah. Oh, it's okay. Lost. Yeah, I think you got, of course, you got Jordan, who I think is the goat athlete of all time, regardless. But, you know, like minded people can disagree. Paylays up there. A lot of LeBron fans, of course, LeBron is amazing. I mean, I don't care for him, but he's, he's 39 years old and still playing sport. He has no need to play. He's been, he's played a lot of games. He has been mostly healthy throughout his career. And he's still averaging like 25 a game. I mean, you know, and he's got a handful of rings. I think you have to have a ring. It just looks like everybody that you'd even mentioned has at least one or two. So, so let's refine this. All right. Okay. Let's say you need a ring as a qualifier. Just sorry. You need a ring. Sure. Then the number of rings after a certain point, I don't think that actually matters. So people will hit the wall. So the hold up Bill Russell is the greatest. He's the goat. Yeah, he has nine, right? Yeah, Bill has nine. But you also look at the context of his time and there's like 12 NBA teams and like he's going against six foot seven, like Polish guys, like, come on, you know, in the early part of his career. So there's also context that I don't think you can use number of championships to determine goatness. But you might need one just to be in the conversation and be a qualifier. Well, the number is exactly right, Paul. The answer is one. I mean, it's in the very definition of it. It is the greatest of all time to have five goats in the NBA is absurd. That's just not the way the word works. And the other thing that I think that is really interesting to me about again, and the reason I showed the Ali clip is because the etymology of this came from an individual sport. Serena, easy. Great. She's a single she's playing in a sport that is her. It is just her dominating the competition. It's when you throw in the team element that things get really murky and really complicated. And that's why you can have conversations about football players like Earl Campbell is Earl Campbell in the conversation. I mean, if we are broadening the scope to say one of the goats, then sure. Yeah, absolutely. The goat, that becomes a little bit more difficult for me. Well, so the Earl Campbell qualifiers this his functional career in the NFL was actually much shorter than people think at his peak, which was not uncommon for that time and period. There's also running backs in general. There's some great running backs who would be considered great today that just fell by the wayside because of injury, right? I'll say this. In his prime 24 year old Earl Campbell, your life depends on it. It's third and two on the other team's goal line. He's got to be on the short list of running backs you flipped the ball to. Sure. Yeah, but for this conversation, longevity has to matter, right? I mean, I think JJ Watt is probably the best defensive lineman I've ever seen for about a three or four year period, but you would rather have Reggie White for the duration of his career. You know, so it gets a little interesting there when he, but yeah, I mean, as far as traits and and awesomeness for a short run, Gail Sayers is often mentioned. Jim Brown didn't play all that long. I think nine seasons, which, you know, it's a pretty good long time for running back. But yeah, I have to say, I'd interrupt you. Jim Brown retired as the MVP of the NFL. What a way to go. Like that's how you go out, right? That is pimp. Yeah. Yeah. So I mean, you've got it. It's longevity has to be, it has to play a factor, I think. And that's why, you know, Tom Brady, to me, is the obvious goat in the NFL. I hate it, but he won me over when they had that comeback versus Atlanta. I was holding on to Joe Montana just because he rose to the occasion in the biggest games. That counts too, man. How do you play on the biggest stage? That's why I think Jordan has the best case as a basketball player. Those guys were not going to lose when it mattered most. Well, this is, this is one of those conversations that's super fun because there's no answer. And the, the, Well, we could say, sorry, Caitlin Clark, you should have won if you wanted to be the goat. Well, that's the thing, right? I mean, you, you have these, you have these players that, that are just absolutely dominant. And there's, there's no denying. The case for Caitlin Clark is the transcendence of the game, right? This is, this is the same, not to put her in the same sentence as Muhammad Ali, but it's that element of transcendence that Paul was talking about, right? Maybe not necessarily the best in his particular craft or his particular science, as it were with Muhammad Ali, but he, he was so transcendent. He brought people from outside his particular media into his world, into his sphere and allowed people to see it. There's no denying that Caitlin did that this year. I mean, that was, that was just a phenomenal season and feat by her. So yeah, there, there are, there are certainly arguments to be made and zero resolutions to be had. Let's, let's transition over to recruiting. This was a massive weekend, Eric. We had a lot, a lot of heavy names. Let's be honest, we had some of the big hitters in town looking at practice, seeing practice maybe for the first time, or certainly seeing a Texas practice for the first time. And we've, and Brett, I just want you to know we, we see your super chat and I absolutely want, we are going to get to that. I just want to hit this recruiting thing first, because what you're talking about there is a bigger question that I think is going to really open things up for us. So we hear you, Brett, we see you, Brett, we're going to get to it. But I want to, I want to hear what were some of the things that the players were saying after seeing a college practice, specifically a Texas practice this weekend? Yeah, universally, they pretty much were in agreement that the defense had the better of the offense on the day. It was a lot of physicality. Physicality was mentioned a handful of times. Justin wrote a very good inside scoop this morning, which was focused solely on the takeaways of recruits from watching the scrimmage. A lot of talk about the energy and the hitting. Even the offensive players had to give it to the, to the defense on the day. But I think the weekend served its purpose exactly as what they wanted. I put in a prediction for decoring more to end up at Texas. That's actually been on my mind for a long time, even going back to when he committed LSU. I thought about putting one in just for the hell of it back then. But I feel pretty good about the guy keeps coming back to campus. You know, he's a must get for Texas. I think the feedback that he's giving Texas behind the scenes is really good. So I feel good there. But, you know, there's a number of guys on campus. Jonah Williams was there. You know, he was one that really liked the watching defense. He was taking note of the safeties and mentioned Jalana McDonald, Michael Taft, Eric Williams, Zion Williams, a defensive tackle out of Lufkin, who I have as a must get. We left that, that visit had left us with a good feeling about Texas. His chances, obviously, LSU has done really well since they hired Bo Davis. Kalique Lockett feel good there. If Texas pushes and stays hard on that one, then, you know, I think Texas is going to get him. It's just a matter of, you know, are they going to, are they going to be able to have room for all these guys? Jamie French, one of the top receivers in the nation, was in town from Florida and he left with Texas in his top three. So they're, they're right on time. You know, behind the scenes, Texas knows that they're hitting another gear in recruiting like, okay, now it's time to really pick things up. They're going to figure out over the next month or two who they, who they really want to prioritize in June. And then that, then they're going to start pushing extremely hard in June and July. One of the things that you mentioned in the article, Eric, is this idea that, you know, some of the kids are going to commit in July, but some may need to do it sooner. And I think it's important for the fans out there that may not understand the intricacies of the numbers and the nuance of these types of things. Can you, can you add to that a little bit and maybe add some, some color to that so people understand a little bit more? Well, take a, take the secondary, for example, if they're only going to take five, what they can pull eight guys, then, you know, they're going to have to be a little bit selective or, you know, if some guys wait too long and it's them versus another one and the other guys getting ready to decide and have the other guy higher on the board, you know, they might be looking at their secondary school. So, you know, these guys that the time, everybody's timeline is different. Victorian Moor can show up to campus in next January without even committing, just show up. Other guys are going to have to make a decision a lot sooner. Yeah, so, you know, with those, I think, uh, water shivers, one of those positions where they could probably land 10 guys if they wanted to. Obviously, they're only going to take three or four. The secondary, they're in good shape for more guys than they can actually take. Dorian Brew was another one that, you know, after this visit, the read on that is Texas versus USC. I'm not ruling out LSU or his dad ran track or Ohio State where his mom ran track. But right now, I think it's Texas and USC for one of the top defensive backs in the country. Cade Phillips is another one. I mean, Texas is in great shape there. So, they're not going to be able to take all these guys and, you know, offensive line. That's another position. And it seems like offensive line is in that same boat every year. Kyle Flood does such a good job recruiting. You know, I can, I can make a guess about eight guys would go to Texas if they could, but obviously they're only going to take about five. I want to, it's time we need to go to Brett. Now, Brett's thrown in a super chat. Please, if you absolutely want to have your question, red, please go ahead and throw in a super chat. Brett is a, he's a friend of the pod. And one of the questions that he has today is true or false. Texas has the best O and a top three D in the SEC this year. That's the first question. And two, we go one and one against OU and the Ags. Who would you pick for the win? Okay, so let's start with the first one and then we'll break down that second question. So we'll start with you, Paul. True or false, Texas has the best offense and this is your betting parlay, Paul, and a top three SEC defense this year. That's a tough combo, right? Because you've got to hit on both to get the payoff. So that's tough. Good Texas happy toppo. Absolutely. That is possible. Whether we look at objective metrics or subjective stuff, who would be the contestants there? Georgia, Georgia, yes, Thomas, Miss. Yeah. I mean, well, Tennessee now. I mean, so Nico might just be incredible or something. Yes, Tennessee could elevate, but no, LSU, you're not. So I think those Alabama. I mean, who know like this, Kailin de Borre thing is going to be a, I think that's the, that's the dark horse, right? What is he doing? It's De Borre, right? What could he do with Milro or? Right. So I think Georgia and Ole Miss are likely the two top competitors there. So I think Texas has a shot at being the best though. I'm not sure how you want to break at a tie. You know, is it subjective? Is it objective? Is it points per game against SEC opponents? I don't know. You know, advanced statistics. Top three D, we might have our work cut out for us more there because we need some things to hit on the interior defensive line and we need some things to hit in the secondary in terms of things gelling, not just player talent, which I think they've got in the secondary. They've got to identify roles and they've got to coach them up. The interior D, I think as we said down here many times in this little dovetail, maybe with some other questions we get, we have to play a certain style now that Murphy and sweat are gone. And so the question is, can the coaches adapt to that new style of playing the defensive tackles as penetrators and disruptors even if occasionally you get gouged for a big run because you're out of your dap and out of your fit? So is that a false for you? I would say, I mean, the odds are safe, false because you have to finish number one and top three together, right? If you gave me each bet individually, I might take it. Does that make sense? Why don't parlay? Never punt, never parlay. And then do you want to throw Eric? Yeah, let's I want to hear Eric's take on this. Eric, tell us what rivals going to beat our ass. I mean, yeah, Paul, Paul said what I would say. I think Texas has a good chance with the offense to be number one, experience a quarterback, skill talent all over the place, a very good offensive line. As somebody said the other day, the only place they have normal college football players on offense is that tied in. And you know, that's a pretty good problem that because we know the tight ends are pretty good too. And that was before Maury, not my black started to assert himself, which he was starting to do now. He got off to a little bit of a slow start. He had a reason for that. It wasn't quite 100% healthy. So he's coming along really well. The offense is going to be amazing. The run game is going to be stacked. Yeah, I don't know. They should be number one, I think, just because I think they have the most balance on offense out of the three teams named Ole Miss losing their running back was an ideal for them. Outside of maybe the culture, I think it was addition by subtraction that way. Defense, yeah, I'm still, I'm not ready to go top three there. That's a little tricky. For the same reasons Paul mentioned, you still worry about the front end and the back end being married schematically and the interior defense. Let's see what the portal brings. The portal opens up next Monday. Let's see if something shakes as far as adding another body in the interior. Well, we definitely have a question about the portable. We'll get to that in a minute. I want to talk, let's talk about that second question here. So who are we taking? We're going one-on-one. Who are we taking here? All right. Eric. Man, well, you know, I live in close proximity to so many eggs. They send it, they're on the internet all the time on Twitter. Sooners are pretty vocal on Twitter, too. Man, I would go with A&M when it's the last game of the season. Normally, I would go with OU. But the first time playing them in a long time, that stadium is going to be absolutely bonkers. The lead up to that game is going to be crazy. It's going to be like, the hype around that game is going to be like a playoff game hype, even if they're struggling. Maybe they have injuries. I don't know. They've got some decent talent over there, too. I would take the win over A&M, but I think they'll get both of them, but we'll see. Where you at that, Paul? I mean, I think we'd be both. It's pretty sad that Eric thinks we're going to spray. Good. I love the pandering. I really appreciate that. All right. So, look, we're playing pick them. So let's just go to this next question. All right. You've got A&M. You've got Georgia. You've got OU. If Texas is going to win only two of those games, which one are you picking as a loss? We'll start with you, Paul. I mean, Eric thinks we get swept. I don't feel that way. I'm a Texas fan. I just want that on the table. No, no. Yeah, you will establish that. I've always been a Texas fan. Yes, of course. Georgia is the best team of the three, but we get them at home. So we might have something for them, but it does happen after OU weeks. So that would be interesting. Hey, I'll say this, SART can't go one in three against OU. Even if it's as happy and as excited as we are with everything and the progress of the program and five and seven, eight and five, 11 and two, or what was it? 11 and two or 12 or two. So Texas fan over here shortened the program. That's right. Pulled an error for Texas. Yeah, I mean, UGA is the best team of the three. Obviously, the rivalry aspects make them super interesting. We have home field advantage against Georgia, which is not inconsequential, but right after OU, that's a tough stretch. And like I said, I don't think SART can go one in three against OU, man. That's not a good feeling, not a good look. And yeah, I guess I'll go Georgia, which is not a very exciting or original pick, but that seems like the moral probable of the three. That's what I would go with too. And you know, there's still there's a plan. There's a chance they could play Georgia three times next year if they played them in the SEC Championship game and then in the playoffs. So wow, that's true. Yeah, so take that loss against Georgia and then go get them again. Yeah, which is the Georgia playbook. That's what they've done, right? Yep. So let's let's move now to some of our recruiting questions because there was some mention earlier, Eric, about some some need in the defensive tackle area. And let's we've got another portal coming up. Do we feel that Texas needs two defensive tackles in the portal or will one suffice? It's a loaded question. I just, you know, if they get a good one, they only need one. If they're two average guys that they just want to rotate and keep fresh for whatever reason, you know, I think they like what Aaron Bryant's doing right now. He's seen he's viewed as a rotational guy. They need somebody that that's a that's a bona fide starter. I think they are going to get a guy that's had a lot of experience starting. I just don't know if he's one of the guys that everybody wants in one of those Michigan players. I do feel that they're going to get a player that started. But, you know, we'll see it's the portal is always it's always up and down. You don't know, you never know for sure who's going to go in. But I feel like, you know, talking to people that Texas has a little bit of confidence that they're going to come away with with somebody that's going to improve the roster. Maybe not a star. I'm not saying one of those Michigan guys are going to get in. I'm not saying it either. We'll see. So Eric sticking with you what if you had to choose, I mean, who's your choice? We have Locket or for French? You know, I would probably go French, but it's close. I mean, they're both with Locket's the number 12 player in the country. I think French is number 20. I mean, it's I think I think French has a little bit more giddy up to them. But man, Locket's ball skills are really, really good. They love French. They love Locket. We'll see they're going to they got a chance to get French. I'm not ruling them out. They could get to Cory and Moore French and Locket possibly if they take three. They're still Andrew Marsh out there. Man, it's a tremendous time to to be recruiting in state, but also they've got the reach with the success they've had at wide receiver to go out of state and get interest from a guy like French. So we'll see. He'll be back for an official visit. Texas gets the last official visit for French. I think that if they push hard for Locket, I think they can get him too. Man, his his remarks after after his visit, Locket's were probably about as glowing as anybody that left Austin on Saturday. And sticking again with this weekend. This is one of our questions from Jeff. She is and what he's asking here is maybe a little bit more of a history and comparison with some former coaches. So how do recruiting weekends hosted by SARC compared to Herman's or Max approach? Let's start there. And then we'll get into how do these relate to the different universities that we're competing against. Well, I mean, they're all doing the same things. You know, I like what SARC did to build this weekend around the scrimmage. You know, he knew what he was doing there. And then he had a crawfish boil afterwards. He basically turned it into a junior day as well as like a almost like a spring game atmosphere, a more intimate spring game atmosphere. So that was very smart. You know, Herman, Herman's staff ran well. It was it was an organized recruiting machine. He was just not good in this setting. You know, he was not very personable. I think SARC does very well. One on one, obviously, you know, probably nobody's ever done it better than Mac in that regard. But SARC, I think, has some of that organizational talent with the personnel department. They do a really good job of keeping things moving, having heard too many complaints. They probably had too many people at the January visit. We had there was that was a bit of a logistics problem. But overall, I mean, they're all doing the same things. They're going to try to tailor made them a little a little bit here and there. If a kid's interested in the business school, they'll pitch them on that a little bit. But mainly, it's all it's all status quo. They're all doing the same thing. They're, you know, they're they're trying to build relationships with them. They're trying to connect. Really, it's a good opportunity to meet parents or whoever the decision maker is that might be with them. But it's all pretty standard. But I will say that SARC is not quite Mac in his personal ability to relate. He's not maybe as much of a salesman, but he's genuine and authentic. And that truly resonates. I think SARC, you know, if they keep winning, SARC is going to be the best one of the best recruiters in the nation, maybe the best recruiter in the nation. That's the one thing he's really lacked is consistent winning. It seems they're on the way to that, though. Well, I mean, if you're if you're comparing, you know, a coach to one of the easily the most personable and masters at one-on-one connections, which was Mac Brown, I mean, frankly, if you're doing 75% of that, you're probably playing at a pretty high level. That's that's a really it's a really high mark to hit. Now, when you were saying everybody's doing the same type of thing, that leads a little bit into that second question. Are you familiar with how LSU OU run their particular weekends? I mean, I just you know, what I see from from reading on three, you know, you got to go to LSU site. That's that's my failure with them. I don't know about glitz and glamor. I mean, you know, there's been times where Texas has Michael Huff bring out his his fleet of cars. You know, I mean, everybody tries to do that. It's I don't know what what the what the players really liked was getting to see sit in on the meetings this weekend here in the coaches. Like Jonah Williams mentioned, you know, getting being able to see Blake Gideon, his energy and his fiery attitude kind of what Williams came in expecting to see that's what that's what Gideon offered. The glitz and glamor is there for every every every program, I think, but getting able to see practice. There's no glitz and glamor there. Those guys are hitting, you know, it was full speed ahead. That's what really resonates with them. The other stuff, I think, you know, the pomp and circumstance, you know, they grow out of that when they're 15, they love it. When they're 16, 17, they start to realize, Hey, man, this is a very important business decision. I've got to make it for the right reasons. Now, when when Huff is doing this, when he's bringing out his cars, is does he have sleeves? Well, first and foremost, does he have sleeves? Just driving gloves. Just driving gloves. Right. Just driving gloves. Yeah. That sounds awesome. Yeah. Somebody said, somebody says, it's nice to see he has so many nice cars. He must have he must have been smart with his money. I said, boy, that's a paradox, isn't it? Has has very Brett, sorry, let's go into Bledso has Dre had a good spring? Oh, hi, Boo Corrigan. He's not he's not reading inside Texas. Now, we haven't really mentioned him a whole lot. You know, right now, the first four are Alfred Vernon, Aaron Bryant and Tia Sevea, Bledso and Sadeer Mitchell have been pretty quiet those far. They really need those guys to step up not really hearing about them making a lot of plays. Okay, that's great. And I had better news for you. Hey, maybe that'll change. You know, with my luck, I'll say he hasn't done a whole lot. I'll spring and then he'll when the when the lights come off for the spring game, we'll tear it up. So Paul, you're you're showing your cars to the kids. Are you starting with the Toyota Sienna? They just going in with the minivan? What do you what are your opening salvo there to really impress you? Do you still have the Explorer? Absolutely. I love it. Yeah, I buy old cars. I don't invest a lot of money in depreciating assets, but yeah, I like to start off with the Toyota Tercel. Sure. And then I'll go to a Mazda Miata, obviously an older one 1990s model. Yep. And then I'll finish it up with the Hyundai, but not the cool ones today. No, no, no, no. Suzuki Samurai, I usually finish off with that. Now, would you go with like the little Suzuki sidekick or maybe a Jimmy something like that, like a forgotten about this amazing ride that used to exist back in the 90s? Yeah, absolutely. I think it would like on the cover of a two life crew album. They have like a CPMD has it in a wrap. They reference a Samurai Suzuki. This is an important car. It's a collector's item. And yeah, it's not going to appreciate as well as hopscars, but yeah, that's what I'd start with. I can tell you that if you're into those types of vehicles or any mid to late 90s Toyota, Guatemala is the place to go having a week there. Absolutely riddled with them. You could go and just, I'm sure get a great deal on a 1990 Toyota truck 100. They're really nice. I think I told, I think I wrote this in a post a couple of years ago, but I went to Peru and I went all, you know, hiking up all in the mountains and, you know, I was up at 17,000 feet and these remote catch while villages where they don't even speak Spanish, right? Much less English. And I saw a dude wearing a DG party crush crush party t-shirt. Delta Kama. It's just like one of these things, you know, where they give the charity and it ends up all over the world. There's a dude at 17,000 feet, a catch while guy with no shoes on walking around with a DG crush party shirt. So Kyle's curious about how you're spending your prospectus money. The big prospectus money that I make. Well, the time that I've calculated the time I spend writing the prospectus versus what I make on it, I'd probably be better pulling some shifts at in and out, but it's a flavor of love. So yeah, that big and that big investing money goes to my son's college fund and summer camps. So, oh, okay. All right. Any any cool summer camps this year? He's going football, football, summer camp, sleep away camp in golden Colorado, former Bronco players are going to be hosting it. So, wow, I'm gonna get some instruction from someone who'll actually listen to other than me since anything I give him, he needs to be ignored since I'm his father. But anyone else, anything anyone else tells him, he's it's the freaking gospel. So it's great. It's that level of gospel and information that you can find at inside texas.com. How's that for a segue, boys? We are offering right now as a special for you, folks. If you put in the promo code, it one, that's the letters, it and the number one, you get two months of inside Texas for a dollar. Now, that's pretty cheap. I want to talk to the thanks, Rooster. I really appreciate that. We have been pumping out some good stuff. That's really kind of you to say. We really do appreciate that. We've got our guys in the field working, grinding, getting this information for you. This is the doldrums of college football, right? We've got this is the time when things are a little bit slow. We've got spring ball kicking up. So the fact that we're able to produce any content at all is impressive, but it that it's at this level is something that I'm really proud of. Go ahead and get your super chats in there. If you have any more questions, let us know. Please do. Eric, I am just curious. You've got, we are not that far away from Mother's Day. Your son undoubtedly does not have a bank account. Well, I can't imagine that your wife is watching this. What is your son getting your wife from other state? Wait, when is Mother's Day? May, right? Oh, God. Yeah. I mean, it's April. I mean, I've got a full month to figure that out. Yeah, you do. But I mean, it's coming up. It's May 12th. May 12th. I had my calendar. My calendar just a spring game. That's the only thing on there. Oh, oh, oh, Williams Davis on here. Try not to ban him. Okay. Hold on. This is David. Look, I got to have this is my mia clopa. Okay. I went to put your question. I went to put your question up, which is what I'm going to do now. I went to put your question up and I accidentally I banned you. I accidentally banned you. That was not my intent. I did not intend to ban you, but you were banned. All right. So Eric, you discussed the depth in one of your recent articles. Alex January. How do we feel about him in the 2D? Where's he going? What is he showing right now? Well, I don't expect him to be in the 2D, but man, he's really showing a lot of promise for being a true freshman at a tough position to play. It's really hard to hold your ground the younger you are at defensive tackle, but he's got the size and the ability and the work ethic in the mindset. He came in with a good mindset. Once I heard that and then I saw him at first practicing, it looks like a million bucks relative to most true freshman defensive tackle. So he's got a very bright future. I do think he's going to play this season. Eric Mitchell is certainly opening the door for him, but again, he's another one where it kind of depends on what happens in the portal. If they land a stud, you know, minutes are going to be harder for him to come by. If they land a guy that's just, you know, he's okay. He's another rotational piece. He's going to be able to compete, but I do anticipate him playing probably more than Tril Carter played last year. So we have a full cabinet right now. The cupboard is full. We've got some players that may not be here after the next transfer portal, and there's obviously some players that we want to come in. Is there one particular room? I don't, I would never ask us to go for particular players, but is there one room that you're worried or can see us having a little bit more attrition than others, Eric? The one position to watch is probably offensive line. It's just, you know, some of those guys are, they've got a lot of promise. It's just the longer road for them to get there. They've done a really good job of recruiting. You know, they've recruited some elite players. Trevor Goosby is a monsters. You know, that's the word coming out of the most recent scrimmage. He's going to play. He's going to have a number of years left. Obviously Brandon Baker's coming in with a high profile and a lot of ability. He's another one of those young guys that works and does the right thing. So, you know, he's going to be a good player. And some of those guys that they took in the 2023 class I'm watching, you know, that was, that was a class that was always those players were going to be on a longer developmental curve. I think they could, they might want to go. Some of them might want to go and where they can play a little sooner. You know, we'll see. I, I hate that aspect of it. You know, those guys came in with the dreams to be a, be a long horn productive, long horn player. Some of them, I think they tend to get discouraged. And now it's just a, it's guaranteed that they're going to lose a few guys starting next week. You know, we'll see it. That'll be a sad day, but it's part of life in the new college, in the new college era. But yeah, offensive line is one to watch, you know, maybe a line backer, you know, we'll see. You know, Eric, on, on that, I will say of the, the, the player profile groups broadly speaking, oh, line tend to be your most patient guys, broad stereotype. And then also, there is going to be a fair amount of turnover after this year. So my hope is that these guys will see the bigger picture in the longer term that they're pretty much slated to start. If some of the guys, I think you're talking about, like, I still think they can get there two years as a starter at the University of Texas. Yeah, I think you're right. And you're right. They're, they're normally the most patient players, because they know the game. I think the portal has changed that a little bit. It's a little easier to find greener pastures. There's that scarcity of, of big body. So when one goes in, they end up at a better school, or not, not if they leave Texas necessarily, but you see a lot of guys go from, you know, kind of nothing programs to OU, OU's taking guys like that. So I think that they can, they feel like they can find a quicker path to the field. I think a lot of it's changed. Some of it's changed in the portal, kind of open their eyes up to, to go elsewhere. And you know, Flood has just taken immense numbers, you know, seven, four, five, and then three, I think, right? Or he's taken a lot, they wouldn't have like 16, 17 guys right now. It's a big mirror. I think one thing that I, and I'd love your, your take on this, Eric, like flood in particular. I mean, he's obviously coached at incredibly high level, a lot of very talented rooms that he's had. I have to imagine that, that he is very adept at managing also this level with the kids and understanding the mental aspect of it. And the foresight that he's trying to instill in them. I mean, you know, we, this has been, this has been the first time in a long time for Texas to have this level of depth and this conveyor belt, this machine in the O'Lyrum. And I, and I have to hope, at least based on his pedigree and his history that, that flood is also someone that's very adept at conditioning these guys to that mental aspect of, of weight your turn is coming. Let's develop. Do you have any insight on any of that? I mean, yeah, he, you know, he, he lets them, he lets them compete. You know, that's, that's part of it. You know, they're open competition. That does, that does played, Hayden Conner's played, Cole Hudson's played, they're competing at center as well. So, you know, I'm not worried about them losing a guy that would play a lot this season. Maybe, maybe there's one guy to watch there. I believe it when I see it, if that guy leaves. It's just the guys that, that have, you know, two or three bodies ahead of them. But in, you know, the, it's not a linear path to, to, to playing time. It's the, it's the first seven or eight guys. Just because your second team, you know, right guard doesn't mean you're, you're even close to playing because they might, might reshuffle it around. So there's some guys that will probably have to wait a little bit longer than, than they're comfortable with. But the bottom line is they have to make room, they have to make room. So where are they going to do it? They're not going to lose the safety. All six of those guys are either new or going to play this year. It's not going to be a corner, right? I mean, maybe, maybe a nickel. They wouldn't want to lose a nickel, but maybe one goes just because there's a bit of a log jam there. It's not going to be, maybe it's a defensive tackle, but obviously they're in the market looking for defensive tackles. So they'd be reluctant to lose a guy there. Maybe edge just because they have so many bodies, but I don't really see that because a lot of those guys are going to play this year. So they got to make room. It's got to come from somewhere. It'll be interesting to see how it shakes out. They're going to be able to massage who they are. I think if they make a full-throat effort to keep certain guys, those guys will stay. But it's just a fact, they're going to have to lose four or five guys. Maybe six guys, depending on how many they take in the portal. I always thought the ultimate compliment to Alabama in its prime, which was not that long ago, we're acting like it's already all over. But Alvin Kamara leaves a crowd at Alabama running backroom and then goes on to be a superstar. Not just college, but the NFL. People used to use that as a criticism of Alabama. And I was like, "Nah, it's the ultimate praise." That's how good they are. James Williams left Ohio State. So everyone will freak out when Texas loses a good player, and they go star somewhere, like become studs and get drafted. And people view it as an indictment of the staff and it'll probably be a compliment. If you had to pick one, now that I've got you up here, Paul, and just, you know, you're very much a betting man, who are you having? Which wide receiver has the most touchdowns, yards, and catches? Now, I'm going to make this hard for you. This is a parlay for one, and then you can give me three different wide receivers if you want. I think it's Isaiah Bond. Okay. Straight across the board. He's the guy that achieves all of these. Well, so we're saying wide receiver. Yeah. So Gunnar Helm could catch nine touchdowns, right, on goal line, and that doesn't happen. Sure. So most touchdowns, most yards, most catches. Yeah, I think it's, I think it's probably Isaiah Bond. What do you think Eric? Yeah, that's probably the safest bet. We haven't really seen the full Matthew Golden ability yet. So I'll be curious about how that looks, how that looks in August. But Bond makes the most noise. You know, we have a practice report after every single practice, and I think he's been mentioned in pretty much every single one of them. He's winning over the top in some practices. He didn't, he didn't do that in the scrimmage the other day, but even when he's not winning over the top, he's, he's, he's really good in the intermediate game. And obviously they're going to throw him some screens too. So yeah, that's, that's the safest pick right now. I think that's a little bit of a boring pick on Paul's part, but you know, it's Paul's Paul's afraid to be in held accountable on this show. You're validate. You double down on it, Eric. I'm not afraid to take it, taking the safe, safe bet. Paul, Paul. I mean, look, Eric, Eric, you were going to blow us out. So I mean, he's, he's out there, and I appreciate it. I like that he's on the edge. Hey, I'll say this. I really, I definitely needed to get this on a throw pillow. I'm not afraid to take the safe bets. Yeah. Not at all. That's wow. That's like when you go into the house that the woman's decorated and you go in the kitchen and there's a wooden sign up that says kitchen. Yeah. Gather, gather. Like, not even like eat, pray, love, whatever little thing to have there. It just says kitchen. Pantry, you know, you know those shows, those house shows too, they'll walk in and they'll go, oh, oh, this must be the kitchen. And you're like, of course it's the kitchen. Oh, look, honey, I think this is the primary bathroom. Of course it is. There's always that show, the house thunder show with the couples, like it's perfect. I love everything about it. The husband's fired up because it's a three car garage and there's a bad-ass backyard, right? Oh, yeah. The wife is always like, but it doesn't have the master bath that I like. I need a tub for soaking. And the husband's like, you haven't taken a bath in three months. Like, I know, but I just, I want to be able to light candles and have a cow gone. And it's like, and then she ended up picking up some subpar house just because of that. Those shows are the block party every night. I mean, it's like, oh, we love to entertain. No, you don't. You've got to go one party a year. What is that? Your knowledge. Your collective knowledge of these tropes is phenomenal to me. Hey, it's it's background music. I don't really watch it. You know, oh, you know, of course, you know, yeah, Victor Santiago is asking, let's talk about Wingo. How was the scrimmage performance? Now, I will say Victor, this was, this was highlighted on the site. So let's, let's give him the news now. How was Wingo's scrimmage performance? Oh, every, you know, Wingo gets mentioned almost as much as Bond does. Everybody that sees him is, is amazed. You know, I had the pleasure of washing and work out a couple of weeks ago. And man, he's a big athletic kid. He's very dynamic in his route. He moves extremely well, plays low for the ground, runs routes like a smaller guy, but then plays bigger obviously with the size and the strength extremely fast, not just fast in a straight line, complete receiver. And you know what, what's really good about him is he's, he's pretty advanced for the playbook already, building a good rapport with both quarterbacks, making a lot of big plays. It's going to be important. I know, you know, I know that, you know, Sark doesn't like to rotate, but he's going to have to play at least five or six guys this year. I feel pretty confident, but I think he's going to be a lot more comfortable about it. He's alluded to in some press conferences that he's feeling better about these guys, but you can't keep Wingo off the field. Hey, let me ask this, we didn't have, we, so last year, uh, Ad and I Mitchell was the best pure red zone threat. Is that fair? Yeah, he had a lever touchdown. Yeah. Uh, and it fits his size and his profile and he's long. He can win balls. I don't see for one, I don't see that guy on the 2024 roster. He's not jumping out to me. And then two, I'm wondering if Bond is that guy the way worthy was that guy free Mitchell. Remember worthy used to catch a bunch of touchdowns, but it was all on jerk routes and like, yeah, little quickness routes near the goal line. I'm wondering if that's the approach we're going to have, or if we're just going to run it in, you know, maybe we're just going to run the ball and maybe we'll get better on goal on, but, uh, do you see a red zone threat receiver? I don't see a body type that leaps out to me. That doesn't necessarily mean that they can't do it. I mean, what you said about bond and worthy, I think is accurate. Um, you know, who's going to be the slot? You know, I've been hearing people asking, some mention of Matthew Golden actually looking really good. And you know, when you can return kicks like he can, obviously that's going to translate to the slot. He's got some good power to him to break a tackle, turn into a running back after the catch. Yeah, I think Wingo fits definitely perfect for the boundary. And he's, he has made his share of contested catches. He has good hands. He's not just a big athlete. Uh, yeah, I don't know. Yeah, that that's actually a question going into the season. Who's going to be the go-to receiver? But I do think the tight ends are going to poach some. Um, and I black had a touchdown on Saturday. On the same route, the Gunner Helms scored a touchdown on Iowa State. You know, Sark, Sark knows how to get those guys loose. But yeah, you know, Adonai Mitchell was a safety valve and it wasn't just touchdowns. It was, you know, the big catch falling down on his, uh, backside versus TCU. He had some other big catches throughout the season that didn't result in points, but helped put the game away. Um, and so yeah, that, that's one that they're going to have to replace. So I think it's going to be probably a group effort. Um, I think they're more, they're more deep, uh, at receiver this year. Um, but yeah, missing that go-to guy. Adonai Mitchell's total stud. Combined tight end position touchdowns, which means Helm plus Nye Black. I think it should exceed 2023 total tight end touchdowns, which was Sanders and Helm. Um, yeah. Sanders only had two, I think it's, it's incredible. Yeah. He wasn't a big red zone threat, which was surprising. And he was the year before memory of that awesome touchdown against West Virginia. Um, yeah, I think they combined for 60, 60 catches and only maybe three touchdowns. That's, that's, that's off. That's not right. Um, yeah, they're going to have to find it. But I think, you know, I think Quinn is really good at finding the open receiver more so than maybe relying on an individual player, or, you know, Adonai build him out. I think the hope is that he's going to be able to find the open receiver, uh, and who the open receiver is going to be dependent on a few things. With the, with the slot position, I mean, we obviously, Jay, it's something that was occupied there for a long time. He, he played a very different game just in terms of bringing a physicality to it. So as a result of that, we really didn't see much of SARC's offense in relation to that. And we know that things are changing. Things are evolving. We're seeing more of the playbook now. But if you had to guess today's the day, who are you putting in slot and how do you see SARC's, how do you see SARC's playbook taking advantage of that? They might just go too deep across the board. Um, you'd have bond and cook at field, Geondry Moore and Silas, uh, Golden at, uh, Bolden, Golden Bolden bond, uh, at slot and then, uh, Wingo in, in, uh, Golden, I think, I think that's how it will go. I don't know. But like I said, Golden could play slot. DeAndre Moore is impressed. You know, I asked him on a scale of one to, uh, Jordan Winnington, how good of a blocker is, is he, and the guy said an eight. So that's, uh, that's, that's a very physical blocker still because, you know, obviously, uh, Jordan Winnington is about as, uh, as aggressive as it, as it comes to as a blocker. Uh, so if DeAndre Moore is an eight, they're not going to sacrifice a whole lot from what they lost with Whittington. And at the same time, they're going to add a better vertical threat because DeAndre Moore is a more natural receiver than Whittington was. Whittington kind of fought the ball at times. He's very good when he got the ball in the move, not necessarily great at locating it, uh, you know, that last catch versus Washington notwithstanding. Uh, but yeah, I mean, they're, they're too deep. They're all a little bit different, but I, you know, what Paul said about Wingo, I think, is, is, uh, accurate as far as, you know, if you want those sort of, uh, the perfect fits ideal for the, the position, you want a little more size here. You want a little more wiggle here. Uh, that, that threesome of, of Wingo DeAndre Moore and Bond probably makes the most sense on paper. Uh, but I, you know, I think Golden's going to play a lot, Cook's going to play a lot. It's, you know, they're going to have to go too deep. They're just going to have to do it. Well, that looks like we are at time. We thank you very much for joining us on our Monday Night Live. Normally I would ask Ian a question and get him talking, uh, and then just cut him off, but we're not going to do that tonight.
