I am your host, W.C. Tyler, AKA Brother Warren. Today's topic is gonna be about faith, and we're gonna go to the Bible, and we're gonna go to Hebrews 11, where we're gonna talk about faith we understood. Now, Hebrews 11, we're gonna read from 11 one to six, and we're gonna hear a little something about what faith is and why we need faith. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen, for by it elders obtained a good testimony. By faith, we understand that the words were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. By faith, Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts, and through it, he being dead still speaks. By faith, he not was taken away so that he did not see death, and was not found because God had taken him. For because he was taken, he had this testimony that he pleased God, but without faith, it is impossible to please him. For he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is of reward for those who diligently seek him. So, we're talking about faith and what it means to have faith. There's a lot of patriots in the Bible that had faith in God, and to name a Phil, we have Abraham, we have Moses, we have all the kings, we have all the prophets, but what actually is faith? The Bible says faith is the subject of things hoped for in the evidence of things not seen. So, faith is something that you know exists. Faith is something when you're thinking about something and you can't see it, but faith brings it to reality. It's as if it's already there. You already have it because you can't see it, but having faith in this, you know it's gonna manifest and it's gonna be there. So, God uses faith for a reason. So, we're gonna talk about what happened with Moses. Now, Moses was a man that was called by God and Moses did a lot of things. He was called from out of Egypt to bring his people from out of slavery. Moses ran from the pharaoh because he killed somebody and as he run, God spoke to him through a burning bush. And Moses entered into God's holiness and he had an encounter with God. Now, he didn't really know God because he had to get to know who God was because God is spirit. Most people worship things that they can see. God is spirit and we worship him by spirit and truth. Now, Hebrews 11, 23 says, by faith Moses when he was born was hidden three months by his parents because they saw that he was beautiful and they were not afraid of the king's command. By faith Moses when he became of age refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughters. Choosing rather to suffer afflictions with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin. It steamed the repose of Christ, greater riches than the treasures in Egypt for he looked to the reward. By faith he forsook Egypt, not fairing the wrath of the king. For he endured as seeing him who was invisible. By faith he kept a passover in the sprinkling of the blood which he who destroyed the first bunch and touched them. By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land where the Egyptians attempting to do so were drowned. Now, this faith is something that every believer of God through the blood of Christ has to receive and believe because God works by faith. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for in the evidence of things not seen. So I'm gonna share a little something about my faith and how God opened me up to understand that he is real, that God always existed and we have to have faith in him in order to be moved by him. Before we come back, when we come back, we're gonna catch up on what faith is. We're gonna go to a quick break and discuss all things about faith when we return. Tyler, AKA Brother Warren, and you are in tune to Rev. Lations. Before we left to the break, we was talking about faith, and what faith is, and what faith means. We know that we have to have faith, we have to believe, and what God says in his holy book. 'Cause faith is the substance of things hopeful and the evidence of things not seen. So, God works through faith, and faith is something that we need. I keep saying this faith thing because most people that I deal with or talk to, they don't understand what it is with this faith. God needs us to have faith in him. He does things through faith. Now, when you believe something or you see something, you see it with your eyes, so you know it's true or it could have been a trick. But most times, we don't believe until we see it. God does not work that way because you can't see God. God works through faith. He says you have to believe that I exist. You have to believe that I give promises. You have to believe that everything I say is true. And when you believe this, God will be moved because he only works and moved by faith. We're gonna go through another scripture in the Bible because this is the faith chapter. Hebrews is actually a book about faith and it talks about many people having faith. So, we're gonna read a couple of scriptures from 1130 and we're gonna let God interpret what it is that we need to get from these scriptures. By faith, the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days. By faith, the holidays rate have did not perish with those who did not believe when she had received despised with peace. And what more shall I say? For the time will fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jestra, also of David and Samuel in the prophets, who though through substance kingdoms, righteousness obtained promises, stopped the mouth of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of a sword. Out of the weakness were made strong, became virulent in battle, trying to flight the armies of the alien. When we received their dead rays to life again, others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection. Still, others had trials of mocking and scorching. Yes, and of chains of imprisonment. There were stones, there were sawed in two, were attempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about, and she's getting ghost skins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented, of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in desert and mountains, and dins and caves of their earth. And all of these haven't obtained a good testimony through faith. They did not receive the promise. God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us. Now, these patriarchs, they had faith, but most of them didn't receive the promises of God. And we don't understand why, but the Bible says they still obtained a good testimony and they did what they did because of God and his faith that he gave us. So, I'm going to share a little story about my faith and how I came to believe that God is real. I go way, way back before I was a child of God, before I was saved, before I became a Christian. My uncle used to chase me around asking me to come to church. I always believed in God. I'm not an atheist, but I just didn't do it. I was still lost in the world. I was still living in blindness. So, one day I had an accident and I was almost... I could have died, but my friend died, and I ended up going to the hospital. At the hospital, me breaking my leg, my friend dying, I was faced with a couple of charges. I couldn't have had a life bed or whatever it is, but my mother came and asked me, "What was I going to do with the rest of my life?" And I said, "I'm giving my life to God." She said, "About time." So, I don't understand why, but God uses a time of suffering when he draws us to himself. My story is complex. It's a long, long testimony, but I'm just going to share a little about how I came to have faith in God. She asked me, "What was I going to do with my life?" I said, "I'm giving it to the Lord." So, after I came from my surgery and I went to prison, I was straight to the church. I went straight and asked the pastor, "How can I get Jesus into my life?" And he said, "Just pray to certain prayer." And I prayed the prayer. I gave my life for my heart. I spoke these things because I just needed something different. And I was the beginning of God giving me faith to believe in him. So, after I received Jesus by giving my life, I ended up getting baptized. I received the Holy Spirit. I asked for it and I spoke in tongues. And it was kind of strange because I didn't know what was happening, but I spoke in tongues and I found out what tongues meant. It's not all that serious unless you interpret it. But I spoke in tongues and I came out the cell and I was on fire. And I just had the Holy Spirit. So, I start doing my thing. I start going to church. I start singing in the praise team. I start just living for God. And as I'm living for God, God is speaking to me through His Holy Word. Now, I'm reading different scriptures about faith, about how He chastised us, all these other scriptures. And I'm just doing what I'm doing. And it seemed like whatever it is, it's working because I'm starting to change. I don't know how God works, but I know He's real because He gave me a measure of faith. And I took it. And I believed. And things start manifesting in my life. God does wonders. So, as I'm learning about God through faith, He's talking to me. I'm going through my trials. He's showing me things. I'm understanding that. Okay, this thing is real. So, He shows me the scripture. And this scripture is in the book of Hebrews. And it's kind of funny because Hebrews is the faith chapter, but also in Hebrews 12, it talks about how God disciplines us. And I'm going to read a couple of scriptures because I have to read these scriptures. So, the listeners can understand what it really is because most people hear it, but they don't read it. You have to read the word of God because that's how He speaks to His children. Now, Hebrews 12 talks about the discipline of God. And this scripture hit home with me. It says, "My son do not despise the chastening of the Lord, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him, for whom the Lord loves He chastens and scores every son whom He receives." If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons. For what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us, and we pay them respect. Shall we not much more readily be in subjection to the father of spirit and live? For they indeed for a day chastises us as seeing best to them, but He for our profit that we may be partakers of His holiness. Now, no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful. Nevertheless, afterwards, it yields the peaceful fruits of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. The chastening of God. When I read this scripture, me having faith, and then me seeing that God chastised those He loved. Now, I can't get into who God loved and who God don't love because God is love, but this talks about two types of chastening from two types of fathers. God's chastening, it ends with peaceful fruits of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. A human father chastised us to their making, and we still pay them respect, but most people that get chastised by their father go astray when they get older. God's chastising does something different, but you have to be trained by it. So, these scriptures I talk about, faith, chastising, and all this is a part of how God works through faith. And many times, there's many people that don't want to believe what God says, but you have to want to receive and believe the words of God. I can go over many Bible scriptures, but I can just share testimony of what God did for me and how He saved me and brought me from out of the darkness to the light. God is real, and for those who don't understand God or don't want to get to know God, what can I say? We all have a free will. We all can do what it is we need to do, but God is love, and He wants the best for all His children. So, I'm just here to speak about God's love, God's faith, God's mercy, God's grace. There's a lot of attributes of God. So, today we're talking about faith and what it means to have faith. So, I'm going to share this song one more time that I shared earlier, and I just want to play it because it's a beautiful song about faith, and I just want to share this before I go into another break. I am your host, W.C. Tyler. And you are listening to Revelations. Before we left, we was talking about a lot of things. Basically faith and what faith is and why we need faith. Because without faith, it's impossible to please God. Faith is something that everybody needs. And most people believe, even the demons believe, but they're not going nowhere with belief. Because faith is what moves God. Believing in God is good. But some people believe in God, but that's it. They just believe. They do nothing with their belief. To believe in God and to have faith in God means you have to move by your faith. It's almost like someone telling me, "Go over there. There's something over there for you." Now, I don't know if there's something over there for me, but someone said it was. So if I don't believe there's nothing over there for me, I'm not going to go over there to receive what it is that they say is there for me. If I don't believe it, why would I get up and go? So with God, you have to believe you have to have faith. And the faith is going to move you to do something. Because there's a blind faith that people have, but God works by faith, true faith. There's many people in the Bible that had faith in God. Because they knew God, they got to know God, and God had an intervention with them. And they got to get to know that God is who He is and who He say is. So I know I've been going over a lot of Bible Scriptures, but I can share testimonies. After testimonies, I can share things that God did to me, did for me, showed me, grew my incarceration, grew me being in the world, grew me living out here in society. But there's a lot of good stuff in these books. That's why I love the Bible from Genesis to Revelations. So we're going to talk real quick before our next break about a guy named Jonah. Jonah was a prophet, and we're going to talk about what actually happened with Jonah and see the faith that Jonah had in God. Because even though Jonah ran from God, he knew God. He ran from God because he didn't want God to do something that he knew God was going to do. Because God is a faithful God. And if you repent, God will relent. God will stop doing what He wants to do according to your disobedience. So God is a long suffering God. He has grace. He has mercy. He has love. He has vengeance, and He has wrath. But many people don't speak about God's wrath. So we're not going to go over the wrath of God, but we're going to go over something that God did based on Jonah running from the Lord. And the only way to really get to know these stories or know what God is saying is you have to read this book. This holy Bible is active and alive, and it's real, and it's true. Regardless of what people say or who people say wrote it, they have to get to know God. That's another story, another chapter. But we're going to go into the book of Jonah, and we're going to read this couple of chapters and hear what happened with Jonah. Jonah was swallowed by a fish, a big fish. The Bible don't say a whale. Most people say Jonah was swallowed by a whale. I mean, it could have been a whale, but God don't say a whale. He says a big fish. So you interpret it how you want to interpret it. Let God interpret it how he wants to interpret it. Jonah, chapter one. Now the words of the Lord came to Jonah, the son of a media, saying, "Arise, go to Nivea, that great city, and cry out against it." For their wickedness has come up before me, but Jonah arose to flee to tosses from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Java and found a ship going to tosses. So he paid the fare and went down into it to go with them to tosses from the presence of the Lord. But the Lord sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up. Then the marine is where afraid, and every man cried out to his God, and threw the coggles that was in the ship into the sea to lighten the load. But Jonah had gone down into the lowest parts of the ship, had laying down, and was fast asleep. So the captains came to him and said to him, "What do you being, sleeper? Arise, call on your God. Perhaps your God will consider us, and that we may not perish." And they said to one another, "Come let us cast lots, that we may know for who caused this trouble has come upon us." So they cast lots, and the lost fell on Jonah. Then they said to him, "Please tell us, for whom cause is this trouble upon us, what is your occupation, and where do you come from? What is your country, and what of people are you?" So he said to them, "I am a Hebrew, and I fear the Lord, the God of Hebrew, who made the sea, and the dry land." Then the men were exceedingly afraid and said to him, "Why have you done this?" For the men knew that he fell from the presence of the Lord, because he had told them, he fled from the presence of the Lord. Then they said to him, "What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us? For the sea was growing more temperate. And he said to them, "Pick me up and throw me into the sea, that the sea will become calm for you. For I know that the great temperate is because of me." Nevertheless, the men rode hard to return to land, but they could not. For the sea continues to grow more temperate against them. Therefore they cried out to the Lord and said, "We pray, O Lord, please do not let us perish for this man's life, and do not charge us with innocent blood. For you, O Lord, have done as it pleased you." So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea seized from its region. The men feared the Lord exceedingly and offered a sacrifice to the Lord and took vows. Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. Then Jonah prayed to the Lord, his guard from the fish's belly, and said, "I cry out to the Lord because of my afflictions, and he answered me. Out of the belly of shields I cried, and you heard my voice, for you cast me into the steep, into the hearts of the sea, and the floods around at me. All your bells in your waves passed over me. Then I said, "I have been cast out of your sight, yet I will look again towards your holy temple. The waters surrounded me, even the souls. The deep closed me around. We were wrapped around my head. I went down to the mornings of the mountains. The earth with its balls closed me behind forever. Yet you have brought me up my life from the pit, O Lord my God. When my soul fainted within me I removed the Lord, and my prayers went up to you until your holy temple. Those who regard with the idols forsake their mercies, but I will sacrifice you still. With the voice of thanksgiving I will pay what I have o'er mild, salvation is of the Lord." So the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out onto dry land. Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah a second time saying, "Arise, go to Nivena, the great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you." So Jonah rose and went to Nivena according to the words of the Lord. Now Nivena was a exceedingly great city, three day journey in the tent, and Jonah began to enter the city on the first day's walk. Then he cried out and said, "Yet forty days in Nivena shall be over dawn." Amen. So here we see that Jonah had faith in God, but he also disobeyed God. He had faith and he knew God was seeking him, but he still refused to obey God. The thing with having faith is you have faith, but do you use your faith? Do you obey God through the faith or do you just ignore God? Faith is what pleases the God, but that don't mean everyone's going to please God with their faith. Jonah knew God. Jonah ran from God. When they said, "What happened? Why is this ship about to sink?" Jonah knew the reason why, because he was the only one that had the faith in God. He's the one that knew why these troubles came upon that ship. The people on the ship didn't cause these things. It was Jonah. But the people on the ship didn't want to throw Jonah over because they didn't want the blood on their heads. But God spoke through Jonah. God spoke through the sea. God spoke through the storm. God spoke through everything that was going on, but Jonah knew that it was God because he has faith in God. Now, when you read the book of Jonah, you're going to see a lot of things in there. And the reason Jonah ran, I believe, is because he didn't want God to spare Nivena. He didn't want God to relent or repent for these evil people. Jonah didn't care about these people, but when you read the Bible, when you read the book of Jonah, you're going to see. In the last chapter, the conclusion of what really was going on, and Jonah was selfish in his own ways. He didn't care about what God wanted to do. He cared about what he wanted to do, but he still had faith in God. So, we're going to take another quick break and come back and continue this chapter or continue what we're talking about. If you want to call in, you can call in at 617-708-3211. We're discussing faith here and we just talked about Jonah and why Jonah ran from God. But he had faith in God, but Jonah still ran from the Lord. So I want to share a little something right now because we have a little time left. I want to talk to you about not just my faith, but something God did when I was seeking him, when I believed in him, when I gave my life to him. I want to talk about why I have faith and why it's so real in my life. So when I was incarcerated, and I understood that God is real in his will and in his life and his promises, I read the Bible like four times with an understanding, not just my intellect, but through the spirit because we have to receive things through the spirit. Anything from heaven has to be revealed. You can't receive anything from God unless it's revealed. It has to be revealed to you. Most people say, "Well, I know about God. I know about God." If you know about God, how did you know about God? Where did this knowledge or this intellect or this wisdom or whatever it is you say you know? Where did it come from? Did you read it out of a book or did it just pop in your mind? Because God don't work like that. So I was incarcerated and I was so into just, I was like not just so anxious or whatever the things is where I just was head over heels, I was in awe of what I know about God and how God showed me some things, not just through prayer. So I was in a cell one day when I was incarcerated and I was asleep. I was singing a song in my mind. I was singing a song in my mind and I wake up and I'm like, "What's going on?" So I go back to sleep and I'm still singing and I wake up again and I'm like, "What's going on?" So long story short, I see some paper on my desk in a pen. The songs, the lyrics that I was singing, I start writing them down. So I'm writing these songs down as I'm asleep, I'm fighting sleep, God's waking me up, fighting sleep and I'm writing the songs down. So I write one song down, then I go back to sleep and I end up writing another song down. And I didn't know what was going on, but I had faith in God. I believed in God, but I didn't understand at that time what was going on, but I didn't think this is God, but I had faith in God because faith is what pleases God. So me believing in God, he can do the wonders in my life because I have faith and I believe. I don't have to understand what it is he's doing, I have faith in God. So now I wake up in the morning, my friend says, "I heard you singing last night." I said, "Yeah, I think God gave me some songs." He said, "Sing it." I sung the song. He said, "Wow." So I written some songs that God gave me through faith. Now if I didn't believe this was from God, I probably wouldn't be like, "Yeah, whatever." But I had faith in God. The faith is what caused God to use me. It was the faith. Now had I not had faith, who knows if I would have received this stuff, but I had faith. So God can use me because faith is what pleases God. So now that I write these songs, I wake up and I'm like, "Wow. Do you know I was in prison in Walpole for seven months before I went to congregate?" And I received 11 more songs by God. And they all didn't come by me sleeping, waking up. They came from different sources, different ways. But the faith is the beginning of why I can receive things from God. Because without faith isn't possible to please God. So I had faith. So God can start doing things in my life that's going to be miraculous, that I might not believe. I just receive it because I have faith. I don't have to question how it came. So I've been writing these songs, 11 songs, within seven months. I go to clunk it. And I end up with 56 songs before I leave prison. I've been out for five months now and God still giving me songs. It's only because I have faith in God. I get things from God because of my faith, because I believe. When you believe, you receive. When people say, "I don't believe," they're not going to go no further with God because he works through faith. And I don't know. It gets me excited because I understand the truth shall make you free. I understand what it is because I experienced it. And this is why I'm on this show. This is why I'm talking because the faith I have in God is what moves him. It's what pleases him and he moves no other way but through faith. And that's why I'm talking about faith today.
