We got number two steward hosting number three Omaha scutt in the class of the state semifinals for the right to play a state championship game at Memorial Stadium. Class B semis tonight. Other half would be at Bennington hosting Elkhorn North. Then a couple of fun matchups in the class A bracket as well. You've got Omaha Westside hosting Omaha North and the the one versus I believe that's the one five game and then on the bottom half of the bracket it's two versus three Millard South versus Carney so a couple intriguing matchups few intriguing matchups across the state. Just in the top two classes right I don't mean to give short shrift to see one see two eight man six man and all those other wonderful classes out there. But those are the ones that have been on my mind. I know Nick and Jay are definitely getting excited to to call these games here coming forward. And it's already been a fun first couple weeks in the college hoop scene. So Jacob and I will go through some of our favorite games of the year so far. TMZ question do you think the West Coast teams will begin to see their home games as they deterrent rather than an advantage because of the way the weather could rejuvenate the Midwestern teams. I don't know. I really don't know. I would say and I think this would be backed up by you know the people of the station who have traveled West consistently that did it professionally you know for a living for their job. Is is not teams coming to them it's them going to other teams them going to other places. UCLA this year has both traveled out to Rutgers and to Hawaii. Okay that's pretty crazy I believe Iowa. Yeah Iowa went out to UCLA I don't think Iowa has or will have Rutgers but these West Coast teams especially number one they should have never broken up the pack 12. I mean we we shouldn't have done that for student athlete sake for student athlete reasons. And if we were going to do it we needed a better plan than hey here's an 18 team conference. It's too large it's too unwieldy doesn't do anyone a lot of good but like J and I were just talking about last segment you get some helmet games right you get Oregon and Ohio State you get USC in Nebraska you get Penn State USC they're all sorts of great games to be had when you fold these teams in Washington Penn State as well coming up I believe next week. I understand the appeal I understand the allure I understand the temptation do not get me wrong but it didn't need to happen that being said I would say the current or the previously current big 10 teams the 14 of them had a bigger advantage in terms of home field or home court than the Western teams did it's much easier on the body on a repeated basis to stay up later than it is to get up earlier right it's one thing for Iowa to to go out to UCLA and have what would that abandon is eight o'clock nine o'clock central time kickoff for a six or seven o'clock kickoff out west but think about UCLA going out to Rutgers let's say that UCLA Rutgers gets the the 11 o'clock central game the new eastern game that's a nine in the morning kick for UCLA oh and by the way it's in freaking Piscataway New Jersey I think they want to be there no no absolutely not I wouldn't either being completely honest that's nothing against what great Shiano is building in Piscataway it's nothing against what Steve Pykle has done Steve Vivian Stringer on the women's side and the baseball program has been kind of up and down right but you come from LA you don't really wind up in Piscataway that's that's just a fact of the matter body chemistry body composition just the way our society works around time if you're if you're used to waking up at nine in the morning why why would you ever want to wake up at six in the morning that's hard to do right it's a shock to the system on the flip side you can find ways to entertain yourself throughout the day take a nap find a way to prepare yourself for a later kick but it's kind of that concept of an object in motion stays in motion you know laws of I don't know if that's thermodynamic thermodynamic yeah thermodynamical I don't know I know it's a lot right objects in motion tend to stay in motion I think that's Newtonian somewhere along the line point being if you wake up at nine in the morning it's or relatively speaking to you at 11 in the morning and you play a nine o'clock local kick that's the same as waking up at you know seven and playing a seven or something like that so no I don't think it is a deterrent for these west coast teams to to bring teams from the east all the way out to the west I don't think that's nearly as big and advantage for them as it is a disadvantage for them to have to travel that far but again it's a problem of their own making they chose Larry Scott as their commissioner George Cleovkoff didn't do much good for the pack 12 either granted he was dealt a crappy hand but that's how I think you could tell that schools like USC were at the forefront of this charge in terms of who needed the big 10 worst I don't think we've had this conversation in a while USC obviously at you know four and five probably not feeling incredible about the move and USC is a big enough brand that it's kind of the floor to state thing right USC could have dominated that that pack 12 conference you can understand them wanting to jump but kind of like Oklahoma to the SEC too didn't really know what they were in for and then you have a bad year and it takes away a fair amount of the credibility I think that Washington is most at home in a pack 12 style of setting I think Washington academically fits the big 10 just fine I would say UCLA is a brand that could stand on its own but I would say the team that needed the big 10 the least especially right now was Oregon now again with the credibility argument on the field you could say yeah Oregon needed a tougher challenge but let's not pretend like Oregon was dominating the pack 12 right they were winning 10 or 11 games every year but they were lose to Utah they would lose to Washington they would they would maybe get by USC you'd be a shootout I think the big 10 is going to be good for Oregon because they know they won't be able to overlook teams that's why I'm so fascinated by their matchup against Wisconsin with Wisconsin coming off of by of a bi-week and Oregon having to travel two time zones to get up for a game like that against a desperate team in Wisconsin right that's desperate to prove itself Wisconsin's not in terrible shape when it comes to bull eligibility but no one necessarily wants to be welcoming the number one team to their house with you know bull eligibility not exactly locked up and clinched yet so I think that I can see the rationale for for all of these teams wanting to jump to the big 10 but I would also say that I think all of these teams all four of them would have been best served by just sitting their butts in the pack 12 and making the best of whatever it was that came Roberto no I have never traveled to Los Angeles I absolutely want to yes Jim inertia that is that is the word thank you thank you for that let's go to the text line here Nebraska ball fan Austin my son and I are looking forward to going to both the women's and men's basketball game in Sioux Falls this weekend Nebraska ball fan you are living up to your name good on you it's a fun trip it's an easy trip I actually was able to make the trip not the most recent time Nebraska went up there which was last year I was watching that Nebraska Oregon state game from the front desk here at the ticket actually but the Nebraska Oklahoma state game back when Nebraska traveled up there Nebraska beat Oklahoma state in the game I was that I believe I called that one for care and you is what I was doing there great experience super simple drive mean from Lincoln it's three and a half maybe four hours up the road depending on which way you go it's a pentagon it's pentagonal it's a fun arena it really is I walked around I can confirm that it is pentagonal kind of feels like a circle when you're on the inside but you get the overhead view and you can tell yep this is this is indeed a Sanford pentagon they are not lying about it being a Sanford pentagon great environment it's the home of the Sioux Falls Sky Force of course the G League affiliate of the Miami Heat so there's there's that aspect of it as well it's in a neat little area super easy to get to uh women will play South Dakota and the men will play Saint Mary's and how about this since we'll be cut a little bit short with high school football coming up I see the stretch big himself Jacob Bigelow is in the building let's maybe preview this Nebraska Saint Mary's matchup talk about Nebraska's history the pentagon what he's seen from Nebraska here in the first three games and then when we get to actual corner three time we'll dive into
