So you know when the Huskers are kicking, but you're watching college football. So here's what you do, Austin, on a Saturday, like tomorrow. First of all, you get on whatever social media platform you like to look on. Mine is TikTok. And I like getting on there and all I do is watch cooking shows. If anybody knows me, I don't do politics, I don't do religion, I don't do any of that. But I love to cook and I love to fish. And I like to do other stuff. So you get on there and find something you want to cook or grill. Take your butt to the Mercado and they got everything you want. Every type of meat and every type of cut, every type of meat, every type of cut, they got pasta in there. They got pre-made meals. So if you really don't want to really do the whole gamut, just go in there and just get your meat, man. It might be the last day that you could really, really throw down on some ribs. Now you won't be if you smoke your ribs correctly, you won't be able to eat them by three unless you get up really early, but you know, you don't want to be open by that, right? Won't be open, but you can get because you like a Tomahawk steak, you can get your rib by marinating them enough and so you'll be in there. Or if nothing else, you slow cook it throughout the day, you got a victory steak, got a victory. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Well, then you go to Myers Corkenball and get you some wine and buy. Yep. And it hooked you up. Jerky wasn't feeling it yesterday. Did you see? It was a white. It was a recently. Jerky. And about that. He's the, he's the Chardonnay. He's the P.E. He's the P.E. He's the P.E. and I have the time of our lives over here. They're streaky. Debbie Downer. Not, not for me. He didn't do that. You know what the streak is? He takes the wine, splashes around and looks and look at the, the, the, the stems coming down. He wafts. Yeah. Two fingers proper technique. Was you, was you there last night when, when Strix said pause was on WTF? No. And immediately. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Did you. Strix on one side of the room, we're on the other side of the room. This man says, like he's, like he's on a show. Pops. Yeah. But the, it was the best part was Ellie, Ellie, I think, was there. She jumped. Because he yelled. He's like, pause. Ellie was like, jump. I was like, oh, that's okay. Straight. You got some authority. What you bro. Rotate it. Yeah. Stop in the name of love. I hear you straight. Oh man. Austin. Also, let's not forget though, there's a big game tonight though. But more importantly though, Austin, these three weeks, always like to try to set the table before the game. Obviously, we got the A1 on a pregame show along with the, all the other sponsors start kicking off tomorrow at noon. And then we got the Husker game and then the J form of post game show is going to be out there. P Dell pub out there in Pleasantdale. So if you want to get live, all game long, we're going to be out there. Come out to P Dell pub is going to be prime rip. So you better get in there, get early because it's going to be until they tell they run out plenty of drink specials. I got some stuff we're going to raffle or they're going to raffle and then we're going to do the J form of post game show afterwards. Looking for a place where you can grow a rewarding career. It's a nice little get up about like heck of a time and it's going to be a great day. You know, I like to set the stage though, like an ask you you're younger than me. You're in have more heavily involved or as involved as I am in the recent history. What is this? I'm gonna ask you because you asked me what does this team need to do tomorrow to make everything moving in the direction of a okay with you? I mean, a win would feel great on a number of levels. This is one of those games that I think the big 10 really had on, you know, near the top of its docket when it expanded into the pack 12. We've seen this Nebraska USC match up before. Right? It was the last game of the Bo Polini era, just Barney Cotton right in the holiday bowl that he coached. We saw it back when I was eight or nine years old right in Nebraska out of the Colosseum USC comes here for game day does not match up. We see a lot. It's two proud programs that have fallen on some tougher times right now. USC's maybe been a little bit up the last few years, but Jay, I think I would feel better about the state of things in Nebraska if they go out there and they they there's that fine line between knowing it's a big game and and beating into the the emotions of it without going overboard. So Nebraska walks the line of understanding, Hey, the conference views us as a big game. They want this helmet match up. They want the Trojan on one side. They want the end on the other side. They love it. Show up. It's a moment under the lights, even in an actual game. You don't get to play out there much. You don't. Yeah. Show up. Yeah. But don't make too much of it at the same time. Right? Whatever happened off the field, whatever happened in North Stadium, you left that behind as soon as you set foot on the tarmac. Right? Soon as you're there, you're on to USC. You're not playing USC. You're playing the guy across from your play in your matchup. You're not playing the name. Your drama doesn't matter. Their drama doesn't matter. And for once, I want to see Nebraska. Not worry about the drama. I want to see them worry about the football in front of them and leave the drama back home. Yeah. Yeah, it'd be interesting to see, you know, how they handle it, man, it's, you know, for me, I think probably, like you said, you know, just, I guess show up is one thing, but just, you know, go play football, man, I mean, you know, like I said, don't, don't make it a big deal, but it is a big deal, but it's a big game. Like this is, this is supposedly what you come here for, like you, you, you get to go play USC at their crib. Mm hmm. The great, the great to play some great all-time players, hall of fame players have been on that field. You get to go out there and beat them and become boy eligible. Um, you know, the biggest, you know, you want to know what the biggest question is for me Austin? What's the biggest question for you, Jay? If they go, if they were the black shoes, oh, that's, that's, oh, okay. I'm telling you, man, if I do that, they asked if I be coach, that's one of the, yeah, we were. Conditional black shoes. Oh, yeah. What the black take? Mm hmm. Yeah. That's the only way to go. Yeah. Is that black shirts only or is that everyone? Oh, it's everyone. Mm hmm. Yeah. We make it. We're making a statement. That's the biggest question. My favorite, uh, one of my favorite quotes of all time is, uh, the RJ Barrett. He was asked about after they went on the road to Virginia. Mm hmm. Uh, they were, they wore the black uniforms and we wear black as we're, we were going to their funeral. Yeah. That's what I like. Cold blood. Yeah. Did you see RJ Barrett the other day? When he played the Lakers? Game of Thrones? Game of Thrones? Yeah. I mean, did you see it like he looked at the dude and he's like, game of thrones and he's like, yeah. And then he went over and told somebody. Yeah. That's game of thrones. But if I would have seen him, I would have went over there today. That's Jamie Lannister. Yeah. We got to take a picture dog. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely see if I can get one of Valerian stories that he had, but Valerian steel swords. But, uh, yeah. I mean, it's, it's an all jokes aside. It's, uh, it's a big opportunity. Every season there's some sort of drama as far as comings and goings and stuff like that. You know, who wants to play? Who doesn't? I mean, look at a, look at a team like Boston college, right? Five and four, um, for bill O'Brien a pretty good first season, they're starting quarterback against Florida state look like Kyler Murray, 2.0 or 3.0 or whatever, um, he ends up getting replaced by Grayson James, um, in the second half of their previous game. He decides to essentially quit and go into portal. That's the drama they're, they're dealing with and they're trying to do something that nobody thought this team could do is become boy eligible, um, with a new quarterback. So it's not just Nebraska. Even though I would say there's times that we create our own. It's not just, you know, solely, uh, Nebraska, every team has, heck, Georgia's had it, multi, I mean, every single, and they were able to survive. Um, Texas had it a little, it has it a little bit. Ohio State will have it or has had it. We just don't know about it. Every team has it. Strick and I talked about that that Nebraska is not alone. Did you hear the, uh, the thing from Golik and Golik today about the bears? About, uh, it was brown and everything. Oh, I got a clip for you. I want you to listen to this clip, Jay, and tell me if it sounds familiar. Let's go to L. Uh, now we got to hear for the first time from Thomas Brown, the new offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears as we're going to try and see if any of these changes can take hold. Let's take a listen to what he had to say about what to expect from that offense this week with Caleb Williams. I think at this point, when it comes to what we are in the season, you can't reinvent the wheel. I'm not going to try to do that at all. That'd be, um, kind of innocent and as far going backwards in my opinion, but it's about being able to try to find the best ways of to be effective without playmakers, right? To be able to marry what we do from a formation and motion standpoint, uh, everything to me starts up front starts with the ring game, how we attack, knock it forward, and tell you we build off of that. Listen, he is a thousand percent right. You're not, you're not redefining anything. No one's, no one's walking through those doors. No, there's no other talent that's walking in to help this offense. It's about play calling. It's exactly what he said about putting his best players in position to make plays. How does he call plays? The plays aren't going to be different. The order they're, they're called and the situation they're called are what's going to be different. And he needs to put the good players in position to make plays and the weaker players, which is the offensive line in position to be successful. Whether that's throwing short to open up the run instead of just trying to run the ball right out of the gate, that's the job of Thomas Brown. Make the job easier for the, the part of the offensive struggling and try and, and emphasize the better players on offense. Yeah. Yeah. Is replaced Thomas Brown with Dana Holgerson, Chicago Bears with Nebraska and killed Williams with Dylan Riola. Yeah. I mean, it's not just Nebraska. Yeah. They're both rookies. Yeah. Um, I mean, obviously Matt rules and better, you know, footing than, you know, Hebrew foods, but, but I mean, yeah, it's the same thing. I mean, it's the, it's, it's a common sense answer, but sometimes people in the media want you to say, Oh, I'm coming in with a new playbook and this that we're going to, you're not running anything that anybody hasn't seen before. What you have to do is be able to marry your philosophy with your talent and then re I guess reinvent your, your, or make adjustments to your philosophy and your, and your concepts of playbook based on your talent and who's available. You can do that with any playbook because you got to learn how to attack defenses and there's a, there should be a play in everybody's playbook, your ideology or whatever you want to call it, whether you're, you know, running shoot, whether you're, you know, the red, red, you know, air raid, whether you're more, you know, conventional, you know, play action pass or whatever you want. Or if you're RPO offense, there's going to be ways to attack people in every single offense. You just got to learn to playbook and be able to call it. And that's what both of them are trying to do. And they're trying to, like he said, he's trying to marry certain looks and formation so they all look the same. I go back to the San Francisco 49ers. They run six run plays. They just run them five million different ways. They run them with different personnel. They run them out of different formations, but the same play is being ran. What does that do? Austin, it builds a tremendous amount of continuity, efficiency. And then also you can execute those plays and they already play with effort. You wonder why Alabama has always had a will when Nick Saban was, was the head coach. They always were getting offense alignment, drafted high. Now they hadn't, they didn't play well in the pros, but what they did really well in college, they were doing the same thing over and over and over, same steps with those five guys. Then you put the tight end in and then they were able to do all the window dressing and they still were just just body blowing people to death. That's how you become a really, really efficient offense both in the run in the past, the play action game, the RPO game, or anything else you want to do. But also they said that, you know what, go look and go look, there's a different way that you can either have an extended run game or extend your physicalness. That's out on the edges. Now you got to go block guys, you got to stay on guys and you got to have the willing and want to to do it. That's what you do. And again, it's something that we've been saying the whole time is that Dana Holgerson might be able to add a concept or two, a play two or three, maybe in a couple of weeks. Sure. Dan Lin said this much. Right. You're always going to be adding. It's just what you have to do. Because if you're staying still, you're not, you're not getting better, right? You're getting even more predictable, but it's not going to be the full, you know, full overhaul. At least now this year, probably not even next year, right? I did some digging into the numbers, Jay, and in Dana Holgerson's career, he's had four seasons where he's been heavier run than past out of 19. That's not a great ratio. For Husker fans, right? We're on the ball fans, all that sort of thing. But in eight of his 19 seasons, it's been within a 55, 45 pass to run where you can't really. He's not abandoning the run. He's going to find ways to get the running backs going. He's going to find easy completions for Dylan, Ryola. They've been in the playbook all year, but we just assume he's going to get to them more often and at the right time. And I bet you he'd argue some of his bubble screens, tunnel screens is a version of the run game. Yeah. Here's another thing before I go to break or before we go to break and I take off. I went and listened to him at a coaches clinic. He mentioned the tight end and he said, if you guys got a tight end, I'll recruit him. Do not be surprised if he starts that. I wouldn't say feature the tight ends, but highlights the tight ends a little bit more. Now, obviously, if it don't, he's been playing well, like here in the last, what, four or five weeks or whatever games, yeah, but don't be surprised if it's Fadoni and company Carter Nelson, Borkerture, maybe Lyndon Meyer, Bonner in there as well. Sure. He, he, he said it himself and he has several plays that were the, you know, the tight ends, you know, get open and he schemes them open pretty effectively. So anyway, it was good for segment. I'm about to be off out the sewer, sewer people, I know you're welcoming with open arms. I cannot wait to see you guys. I'm headed up the sewer with Nick Sainer tune in seven o'clock, Seward against Omaha scutt battle two and three to go to the state championship should be a good game. He turned my air raid, you got two offices going to put it up there. So it looked for exciting game tune in, but I'm going to turn it over to my partner crime Austin Orman. I'm going to get off of here and then I will see, I will talk to you guys tomorrow on the a one automotive pre game show, but then also don't forget if you get a chance right out to PDale, PDale pub, plenty of drink specials will be out there during our post game show, but then we'll also be out there during the game watching and mixing in mingling as well.
