Dot and eyes across the T's if you're both sides of both teams, that's what they're doing. We definitely welcome your text. Any questions that you have about what could possibly be going on or what me and Austin think could be in the game plan with the new offensive coordinator and some new pieces in different places. I think a sneaky move, not a sneaky move, but an under-the-radar move. Austin, that happened when they came out with the depth chart is Hartzog going back to corner and what's the view for going back to kind of like the safety. Kind of do it all type of position where he played last year when he was coming off an injury, which is interesting. We'll just go right in as it's a little interesting on both parts, right? Hartzog played corner under, you know, in Mickey's first year. Bill Bush took over and obviously he did, you know, perform pretty well. Bill Bush talks highly of them. Very competitive kid, tough kid as well, loves football, so forth and so on. And then you had Buford that could play every single position back there. I got hurt and then, you know, he came back last year, late in the year, almost like forced himself on the field because, remember, Coach Rules said, "Oh, I like guys to sit out a whole year," so forth and so on, came in and played the same position he's going to play or listen to play at this week. And then they flipped it and Buford started that corner. Hartzog was, you know, somewhat of a safety fit in real. I mean, played really well. I mean, you got beat a couple of times, but that happens when you're safety. When you got four picks and you missed essentially a game and a half, you're definitely settling into a new position. So I think it shows you two things. The selflessness of Hartzog and the willingness of Buford. The willingness of Buford of, I guess, getting moved out of premier position. Maybe he struggled a little bit. He has, you know, he's got beaten deep a couple of times. And I think I just think it's bad technique and bagged eyes, but I don't make those decisions. And then Hartzog would be selfless and not selfish because he could say, "Look, this is the position. Look, why would you want to move me right now?" By his stature and size, he has position flexibility, but to be selfless and go, "I'm going to play a corner," which is way more intense and more risk out there. Because you could play great for four quarters. Played bad for one player. Everybody's like, "Oh, you didn't play good." So that, I think, was under the radar. But then also, I think it's a both a strategic move, probably match up for, you know, moving forward. But then also a move that I think both guys are welcome. So it lets you get you, gives you a quick snapshot into their team and the team concept. I love the move on the surface. I was a little surprised that they switched. Those two back all the way during, I think it was even spring ball, that they talked about it. And they said part of the rationale for that was they didn't want Malcolm Hart talk to have to switch positions, right? Because he had bounced back and forth because of injuries from starting his corner to playing some safety and then every other week it seemed like he was playing the other one. He didn't really know what his role was. He wasn't as comfortable last year as he was as a freshman. And I think a lot of that had to do with him not knowing what position he was going to play on any given week, not being able to settle in. And I know when Travis Fisher was here, he preached that cross training. And it's good to be able to have. But to the untrained football eye as I watch it, Buford played really well at safety when he was there. I thought that was his better position. I thought Hartzog played better at corner, right? It's an up and down position. That's just the nature of it like you were saying. But I think Malcolm Hartzog's future in the NFL is as probably a corner, maybe a nickel type of corner, maybe a return guy. We haven't seen him on returns. And that was a big part of what he was touted as a high school. Yeah, right. So I'm a little surprised Nebraska hasn't gone to him for a spark there, especially if he's one of those single digit guys, right? Want to be on the field, make those plays. That's another conversation for another time. So on the one hand, I think I'm glad from at least how I've watched Nebraska play to see them going back to the alignment that I think makes more sense. But it's kind of disappointing that again, again, from Malcolm Hartzog, it's very selfless to him to do this again. But this is a kid with a lot of talent that's been yanked around back and forth. And I don't like to see Nebraska abandoning this plan. If it's the decision they have to make, you have to make the decision, just go be right. That's what matters at the end of the day. Yeah, I like that thinking, but also I like it. Look, man, whether it's, you know, having analysts, you know, whether it's Phil Snow and obviously Coach Dana was at an analyst at other places, but to have them look at your program and coach real estate, you might have a couple other guys that kind of give them some thoughts to reposition your offensive coordinator to just tight end coach, to hire a new offensive coordinator, to changing things up on defense on the fly based on how circumstances, how guys are playing, and the willingness of guys to do what's best for the team. I think, you know, for Heartsaw in his frame, you know, I'm thinking potentially if he has aspirations, goes to the next level. From my experience, him playing and being successful at more than one position actually helps him. Right. Because if he's only, if he only, if he raises his hand and say, I'm only a field corner, that's it. Well, now you're going to go, now you're just judged as only a field corner. And you got to be one of the 32 bets. Yeah, and you better be a real deal guy versus he can say, he can raise his hand repeatedly. I've played field corner. I've played boundary corner. I've played safety. I've played nickel. And I've made plays that all of them. I've played special teams and I will play special teams. So for him, I think it's just another day at the office for Beaufort. I think it's probably a familiar landing spot. And I think Beaufort will probably help the communication back there. And Hartzog has played others. So I think it could really settle things down and maybe take away and explosive big player too, obviously for the rest of the season. So the other guy that I think is impacted by that is Jeremiah Charles. Who'd been the corner kind of opposite. Marquis, Beaufort there with, but with Sierra, right? I believe he's back, right? Yes, Sierra. Yeah. Now I think Sierra, right? Malcolm Hartzog is the best of what Nebraska has left a corner. I didn't see much from Jeremiah Charles. He's a young guy thrown out there for his first action. But you saw Perdue when he got in the game late. Go right after him. He's not UCLA early in that game. Yeah. Go to Jeremiah Charles. So I think what Nebraska is saying is, hey, we have a guy that's played some corner before him. Set the settle things down. Settling down. They're not going to pick on him. And this is an assumption that Tommy Hill is back and will play and play like he should. Yeah. Now it also gives you a little bit of a soft landing if Tommy Hill doesn't answer the bell. Well, and Sierra, right is healthy because it's going to take, you know, hell on earth and not to give him to play against his former team. So then if that happens, now you've got two guys that you feel that can start. Then Jeremiah Charles, you're going to have to, you know, you're going to buckle up, dude. And, you know, really learning how to play. This is one thing that's really interesting and I learned as a young player, learning how to play like you've practiced because sometimes you can get out there, man. And you could just be what you could just watching versus going out there and just playing and and blocking everything out. So that's where I think Charles is struggling a little bit. It's not an effort thing. It's not a want to thing. It's just more or less that's an inexperienced thing. And so you got to keep like putting them out there, putting them out there, letting them fail. Then you'd be like, all right, I got it. And then you just don't know what happens. There was something from the text line to drew from Wahoo asked about it. He said, is Gifford playing out of this? Yeah, I was just about to get. Yeah, Drew and Wahoo, here's this. Here's this question. Appreciate you guys. Appreciate you. Appreciate you texting in Drew. He says, I think Gifford is playing out of position to this year. Well, he's playing the same position he played last year. Here's the difference. Omar Brown is gone. NFL NFL and awful NFL Omar Brown. And so is my man number six. What's his name? That was here last year. Corner. Quentin Newsome. Quentin Newsome. I used to call him Q-Dog. So those two are gone. Very dependable would be where they need to be and knew the defense in and out and played to not only their talent level, but then also executed it very well. So how does that affect Gifford? That means when Gifford was like, whether he was a Phil, Ali player, or the few times that he was the edge player, everything else was was a okay and on point. This year, it has not. Now, I will also will say, not having Luke Rimer is hurt more than I may be a thought. Now, look, he made some plays, but he was very consistent. He made a lot of plays, but he was very consistent. So like a couple of the big runs, and particularly like UCLA, with the quarterback run, the Indiana one, I don't think he makes those mistakes as far as... Maybe even Illinois at the end of that game. The Illinois, but yeah, the Illinois for sure, Illinois, yes. But I was just talking about ones with the layup ones. Sure. Right, where you're running the same blitz, and you got to back a run there to get blocked. And the other guy is taking up the half the center, in this case, Indiana, and the opposite, Agap. You're the free runner, brother. And he hits in that Agap, so that affects Gifford. Because then a lot of times you have to think about this. When you are in Gifford's position, you're generally coming downhill. And that's his mentality, and he's a very downhill guy. Right, and he wants to be physical, but he's going to perform better in tight spaces. That's any safety. And we've seen it. You let these great athletes get a two-way go on you. It's pretty much luck, if you give them. Now you got to close one side of the field off what we could do a better job at. But then also, they're hitting it up there. They're so quick at the second and third level. It's hard to even coach that. So that's where I think where people are getting it. Misconstrued that he's playing out of position. Now, I would probably say he could play better. You know what I mean? And there's some plays. And I think maybe he was trying too hard. Or you're trying to, it's your senior year. You're a local kid. You came back. You want to make this perfect. And sometimes when you're trying to play perfect versus just playing football, you can try to do too much. That's more of a probably analysis versus he's not good enough. And all that other stuff. He's not a perfect football player. He's a good football player. I've had my issues with him. I've raised him on this show and other shows. But it's something that I know you've talked about quite a bit on this show and on inside the huddle as well. Is that that's the reason why offenses like to attack the middle of the field. Right? Those linebackers that Rover position that Gifford is playing. Because they have options. They're not just stuck with just like in basketball, right? The sideline is an extra defender. Right. You limit your options. If it hits on the sideline, if it's perfectly blocked, you're good. But the middle of the field is for athletes where they can make a play. If you give them two options, they're going to pick the right one for them the majority of the time. Right. That's an impossible situation for a guy like Isaac Gifford athletic. But maybe not to the same level as the running back or a slot wide receiver coming over the middle. That's a tough ask. Over the middle of the field, he can't be left in one-on-ones. Defense as a whole. The offense loves one-on-ones. They'll take their chances with that. It takes like a Derelle Rivas type. You know, walk down corner for defense to feel good about a one-on-one. Right. Maybe one-on-one pass rush is the other example. But for the most part, offense, just like defense, is looking where we plus one, where we even give our guys options. Yeah, there's an old saying, "If I'm even, I'm leaving." Here's an analogy for people out there. Here's an analogy for people out there, what it's like to be essentially on that island. And here comes Sequan Barkley or any runner back in the Big Ten. It's like you being a goalie at the World Cup and Christian Ronaldo is kicking it and you're going penalty kick. Good luck. You don't have a chance in hell. And if you do, they're really good goalies. They're the ones. They get highly compensated. They probably stop one out of five of the penalty kicks. And then they're the heroes. Generally, you're not stopping Christian Ronaldo. That's what it's like. And that's what you want to get away from. So I don't think it's more of, I think it's more of, I guess, surroundings in the continuity thing versus Gifford, like playing out position. Because I think this is the perfect position for him. 22.89 says, "Are we going to come out flat again tomorrow? I do not know." You're better not. I hope not. I would tell you this, 22.89, if I knew, if I knew whether they were or weren't going to come out flat, I would control that they would never come out flat. You'd be a richer man. Right. Yeah, I wish I knew. I mean, I think he's probably saying, you know, you could look back, came out flat against Purdue. Definitely never will get going against Indiana. They so, you know, obviously was very intuitive. Ohio State came out flat last week. You know, I think after a bi-week, I think that I'd be very surprised. They don't show up with the right mindset and the intention of getting the party started early and often. It's a do-over for Nebraska, right? You come out of a bi-week and you go on the road. Exact same situation against Indiana. Except here's the plot twist. Indiana is better than USC. Yeah, they're better than USC. It is a do-over and we've never had a chance to have a do-over during the season. Not like that. Take advantage of the opportunity, both as a schedule and circumstance and the circumstance of your opponents. So this is, again, a maturity game. Have we learned from our sins earlier in the year? Have we learned from, you know, the things that maybe we glossed over, lack of discipline or we let slide or the expectation, whatever it may be that we haven't done for it to be five and four. You know, you can rectify and that's generally doesn't happen. Because generally, like when you talk about the things I just talked about, the season's over. You got three games left. You have a lot of football left. You have a great runway of things you can accomplish by handling your business, not only this week, but in a couple weeks after. So we'll see what happens tomorrow. Well, even tonight is the maturity night, right? L.A. Nightlife's undefeated. Don't let it go. Yeah, I don't think that I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't. Yeah, I mean, discipline. I don't think that I have no, I mean, I'm not going to worry. I have no worries that these kids are going to go out anywhere. The thing that can be distracting out there is just the hour drive to the hotel, looking at this, looking at the Hollywood sign, all that stuff. And if you continue to talk about that all night. You're not talking about football. Right. So that's the only thing. I don't think it'll happen. I think they kind of know, they know what they need to do. And so they, you know, they'll get busy. One more text before we go to break Derek in the car. He asked, is Blighill ever going to see the field or is it a red shirt? Well, I think right now, well, you don't really, I mean, I guess you could say he's red shirter because he hasn't played all year. Yeah. But I will say this is that he could play and not lose it. So to answer your question, I don't know if he's going to reach the field, but it is a red shirt year. And he was projected to start. So I look at it like you get a starter after next year. And so long as he comes back healthy and ready to go, then, you know, it should be good to go. And it's like what he said about Beaufort, right? And that rule likes this guy's coming off injury to sit a whole year. Maybe a little surprise that's taken Blighill this long. But don't forget he's transferring up a level. Right from FCS up to FPS football, getting acclimated to that with any injury that was, you know, relatively serious. It's not a simple thing to come back from. Could Nebraska use help at corner? Yeah. Pretty much every team in the country could use help at corner, especially this late in the year. But if so, if he's healthy, play him. See if he makes a difference. If he's not healthy. Hey, guess what? You still are red shirt in him anyways, whether he gets on the field or not. Just be safe at this point in the year. If you really need him, I think it's a break glass in case of emergency sort of thing, but it's win-win because you can use them and say that year. Yeah, and I'm sure he's practicing or doing some football stuff. So, you know, it's not all for nothing. So, you know, I mean, I think it's good that he's probably healthy enough to practice. I'm sure Nebraska wish he was healthy because he was projected to start. So, pretty long athletic corner. Yeah, 6-4. That could move though. Had good, good quicks in and out of his breaks. So, it's something Nebraska has in their back pocket moving forward. Not only the rest of the season, but, you know, in the years to come. So, we shall see. We're going to take a quick break off, then, and we're going to talk a little bit more about the Dana Horgerson. I think, well, here's what we're going to talk about. Let's talk about the two Nebraska coordinators because I think, number one, we had a text. Actually, somebody ran into me and they asked me about the 335 and show we would go to the 4-3. I'll give my opinion on that. Then, also, I'm going to give, I guess, a more in-depth opinion on Dana Horgerson as the coordinator. I think people, yes, he comes from air raid. They're not going to run the air raid. They don't have time. They didn't have time to put it in. So, you have to have-- Professional spend nearly half the work week on written communication.
