Wednesday nITe LIVE (11/13): Talking Texas vs. Arkansas, Razorback Players to Watch, Keys to a Win
We did it guys special treats. You get to deal with with Lando and I today young Joe is busy living his life. We may have coach Dubbe join us here a little bit later if he can sort out how our computer works. So we've got a got a big game. Obviously this week. Arkansas. And I think Lando. One of the things that I've noticed is, I think the educated fan here, and certainly the fan of a certain vintage is proceeding into this weekend with some. Cautious optimism and I would love to know where you land on that. So. The first the first place that my mind goes and y'all hear me say this all the time and you'll continue to do that. Richard McCleary in the chat says what's up from in beat Texas. How's it going Richard. Lots, you know, we just talked about our youthfulness behind the scenes a little bit there. Right. But like you said, we know about the history of these two teams and it is, it is 100% true. But Arkansas loves to hate Texas as much or more so as they love to love themselves. Right. That's a, that's a real thing, for at least from the people that I speak to and communicate with regularly who have affiliation with the big A over there and you know, I think that's a really good thing to do in Fayetteville. So my thing is though, and especially as when you really start to look at the similarities between this game and the one that everyone's been talking about all year as well on our side of things in particular as fans right is the A&M game. Sure. There are some similarities with some of the strengths of their offense offenses with, you know, Taylor Greene, being the more mobile dual threat quarterback. I'm not going to have to prepare for that in a similar light but more so just the atmosphere that seems to be what's kind of stealing a lot of the thunder in the headlines right now and yes, Fayette and I'm as Texas fans grew to come to New it as back in 2021 right they found out how difficult of an environment that is and that is and how much Arkansas hates Texas. But the thing is that that I want to focus on and sort of highlight a little bit tonight and I'm still trying to figure out exactly which way I'm going to take my preview, the direction I'm going to go with that hone in on sports psychology or not is norprenefrin. It's this chemical that the brain naturally produces right it's got a way of not carrying what color Jersey you're wearing when that in that environment and that atmosphere so when there's 100,000 fans give or take a few screaming at you and there's a football game being played you're going to war out there. It can work in Texas is favor equally as much as it can work in Arkansas's favor right and that's that's what I want people to understand yes it does make communication more difficult on the offensive side of the ball when you know you're trying to accomplish certain things right you're it's it's more choreography so communication is more important there and that's that's obviously why the term home field advantage exists right but at some point the end of the day atmosphere environment energy hatred fans can only go so far you still got to line up and play football right right and so this is just for Texas another day at the office right that's the mentality that they've got that they've got to come into this game with and on top of that it's not it's not as if this Texas team as we know it right now is any stranger to traveling to hostile environments right in Michigan week to yes I understand the circumstances that they've dealt with this year especially at the quarterback position it's still the defending national champion right it's still 100 the big house right it's still won the road against against Michigan so last year same thing too we can talk about Alabama so on so that's it I mean it's just this team this team is as talented as they come this team is as experienced as they come in the right places right quarterback position and up front and so yeah take care of business as usual man it's really it's really nothing nothing needs to change from a psychological standpoint I think and this is what we spoke with a little bit with with Drew with DK last night it was it last night maybe it was Monday the you know he viewed we talked about the different environments that we were going that he was gone into and he certainly commented on exactly what you were talking about the idea that that Arkansas is palpable when you're in the room like they're when you're on the field that you can definitely feel the hate is here and I think I think that does certainly play into it and I think we know what's been really interesting to me about this particular season is the expectations on this team what would they want to call them expectations, the active standards that they hold themselves to but it's been so very very high which is which is great but that weighs on people right that that it's not you that's not always sustainable unless you start to build into that process a way of looking beyond that pressure and I think they've done an excellent job of that one of the things that is a little bit tricky about this game is the idea that it is a rivalry there's only a few players I say a few this I think there's like 11 or 12 players in 2021. So, you know, there's a really good and you know this being an athlete certainly is, you know, one of the greatest assets an athlete can have is a short term memory right just to be able to just let things go and move on to the next play and I think that's that's going to have to be the element for these guys because this next stretch and I'm going to bring out Richard here because this is exactly what he was talking about you know we play three red teams that hate us for one season. We've got Oklahoma, we've got Arkansas and we've got the Aggies and two of those three are coming in the next three weeks. So I think this is a this is a really great time for a fan to be in this environment. I think guys I'm really excited for them about it because this is this is their chance to kind of prove their medal. This is a very, very good offense that they're going against and I want to talk you know we're going to talk to Coach Dove about this and a little bit their their personnel is good. If you go to InsideTexas.com and I invite you to do that. If you use the promo code IT1 we're going to give you two months for $1 and the reason I highlight that is our very own Ian Boyd had an article earlier this week about how Florida may have exposed our run defense a little bit and I want to I want to go to coach welcome coach I'm glad technology is working for you. What are one of the things I really wanted to talk to you about is is if you can highlight for us as we're going into this Arkansas game and I know the majority of the fans out there and I don't this is in no way a negative thing but you know they probably watch Texas right it's a vast schedule and only a very few of us are privileged enough to have the time to watch as much football as we want right so if they haven't seen Arkansas all year long. Can you just give us I don't know three or four players maybe a couple on each side of the ball that we really need to pay attention to and and as you're speaking I'm going to bring on young chain. So I'm going to talk about telling green. I've been doing young Taylor since he was a ninth grade so a kid I actually know really really know played against him or coached against him last year and he's at void state now the UNLV. He had his, I guess, been shown well when it versus us and he ran for like 200 yards passed by another 200 when he's healthy and he's on his a game he's really really good. He's just he's inconsistent. Well yeah it's his consistency right and now is one of the things that VY was able to do so masterfully is get himself out of trouble with his feet, especially early in his career when that pocket was collapsing couldn't make it through his progressions and the dude just made magic with his feet. What you know we've got a similar build I guess it's safe to say maybe with with great but how does he handle that level of pressure Very well I don't know if anybody's seen him any of his runs, but he has my lateral quickness to like for a big guy he can make you miss in space and he can run around you and he might try to run through you depending on how big you are on defense right So he has some of the similar of similar abilities and he has a cannon for an arm so he can really throw it so he can throw in the run very well if you go back and look at his and him game he kind of dodged some traffic stuff in the pocket on the run and like Bill Baum is like man how do you even get out of that and how you live with such a path and so you're telling us some special abilities when he is consistent and when he's on he's very very good but he moves he moves like a Hooper to me coach wouldn't you wouldn't you say he's got like some Hooper athleticism so that's kind of cool that I see it anywhere is more he's not necessarily slight right he's six six two thirty five that's a big that's a big That's a large hand yeah right but just the frame sort of makes him appear to me it's like he's got I don't know name your classic NBA guard right now or you know just wing perimeter player like a slasher that's that's kind of how he moves and how he looks to me route impressive looking dude man so that's so obviously that's a QB who else do you have for us coach you could you couldn't you couldn't in Jackson when he's a crack former lonesome right former lonesome QB in his rifle position they're running back right he's going to be motivated to run hard right he already runs all right runs when he plays on a chip on the shoulder but man when he's healthy and I you know I want to mix these two together him and the other guy called baby Jerome Bettis he has a bigger range baby Bettis yeah yeah baby Bettis like got it like six one two hundred fifty three pounds like he's nifty on his feet he's quick he can run too and so he can actually just laying a little crease he can hit it and step right and go to the house at the end of that gig so just both are running back man just like man I thought we were getting away from that and here they go with more running backs and those guys can move for bigger guys like I said you're quitting to me because he's a full of more of course he's going to stand out everybody knows who he is going to play with a little extra motivation you know to go against the Longhorn so that's those are two A and two B and then just real quick context to what coach is talking about they're brailing brailing Russell that's technically Arkansas's number two running back but it is like a it's a like an AB's one a one B situation something like that along those lines but two fifty three is the official wait for context Derek Henry weighs about two hundred and forty five pounds like that and Derek Henry is also six three so the two fifty three is is packed into a smaller frame at six one so it feels different I mean it's he's low he wins the leverage battle every time let's be honest it's it's body by Minecraft I mean the dude is the dude is an absolute square I mean it's amazing how much density that guy is carrying around yeah absolutely man I'm gonna be picturing a square just marching up and down the field every time the key thing there is like against Mississippi State is where he got the bulk of his yards but he had an average of 11 yards of carry in that game at two fifty so this I mean Arkansas he thought maybe because they're down recently they still have great backs and went from Rocket Sanders to you know to Queen and Jackson all the way all the way back to the days of Darren McFadden Hill is Felix Jones they always seem to be able to have guys that can run and then with Taelyn Green it's it's an offense that if it hits is dangerous however we have been good against the quarterback run up to this line that's a good point too that maybe we can touch on a little bit later it's just like Diego Pavia sort of priming us for Arkansas now Taelyn Green sort of priming us for Marcel Reed it's a it's a the the sequencing that's happening here is that in some ways I think favors Texas but we can maybe talk about that a little bit but one of the things I think that's been really reassuring for me especially when you consider the youth on one side obviously with Colin Simmons but you know having more on the other side there's been just so much discipline on the ends and setting the edge and I think that's that to me is a sign of maturity in spite of the fact obviously Colin is a is a young man coming into the game but I think I think they've done a really good job of establishing that level of discipline to play contain on those guys which is which has been really fantastic. Yeah we are we are getting a couple questions here and I want to go ahead and go to the chat and thanks so let's go ahead Lando you had a point. So I'm just doubling down on your on your point to segue over to that question I see from Richard there the good one and I mean I can take that real quick. Yeah let's do that let's pop this one up here. So for those of you listening in your car on the way to that I don't know get your oil changed what are our best positional matchups on offense against the Arkansas defense. So, well sure, okay. What are your thoughts on that Lando. Actually so if James wants to elaborate I was that's my fault I was mentioning the question I wanted to take was the Richard McCleary's second one where he says he's asking about severe Mitchell. Oh sure sure we'll absolutely hit that. Yep. Yeah I can take this one real quick. We've got an offense top 10 in passing they have a defense in the hundreds in the secondary and pass defense so this could be comparable to the Ole Miss game if we fire on all cylinders. I wouldn't go that far I think it would look more more semblance of the LSU game is what I would kind of see coming from this game. The Arkansas's throwing new guys in the secondary I don't know if you guys saw that they kind of opened it up the back of their game and said they're going to put new guys in who wants to play basically, which is typically not a good sign in November, which leads towards Texas I would say being able to quit in keeping that moment and like we saw against Florida secondary that was poor on communication Arkansas's that worse stuff. Coach, is there anything outside obviously the sorry James I wasn't giving you a little bit of hard time over the low hanging fruit but it is it is one of the strongest rooms in the nation so what we're looking at when we're looking at the secondary. I mean how do you feel about the defensive front and I this will lead into Richard's second question here but what are your thoughts on Texas's defensive front against that online. I think Texas defensive front will be able to really penetrate to make telling great telling great make a lot of quick decisions with the football. They're kind of now I will say this though so we're there like number five in the country and totally yardage right so when they're good they're good they can run the ball, they can pass protect. It's just you never know. Yeah so this game the game with them, but like you look at points you look at yards like they're right near the top and it's like I was looking at this early because Eric posted something inside Texas within the numbers like the number 11 and pass offense. It's like how they five and four you would think that be more more explosive and they're you know getting a lot of points but the Russia started to in the country so they can run the ball to almost 200 yards a game. So that front when they're good they're good and it depends on who they're playing week to week they don't bring it consistently. So Lando let's pass this over one of the one of the questions that Richard had here is what we see more said deer in this game and he's bringing that up in relationship to the running backs that Arkansas is bringing to this now. I'm, I'm curious your thoughts on this because cedar is obviously a absolute massive human being wildly talented human being, but we haven't really seen much of him so far at his, at his time here on the 40 acres and I'm just curious how do you want to address this seeing cedar in relation to their running back game. So first of all just wanted to, I guess, re-address what I spoke on on Monday on Twitter just acknowledging the character that it takes the perseverance that it takes to be just the willingness to fight and overcome adversity that that said you're Mitchell has showed right because obviously he dealt with some of that and there were questions about whether or not he would remain with the program at a time they're like absolutely there were some there were some of those rumblings happening and just thinking about a kid that's come so far away from home Jersey kid. Yeah. So man, just there's there I've dealt with this myself right I almost didn't make it through my first semester of junior college ball just two states away in Kansas right it's tough it's a it's a massive adjustment these are immature and it's just it's it's the youthful exuberance that that's happening right so it's like completely new environment, having to meet new people you having to try to get yourself into college football shape which is different from high school football and so there's just a lot of things going on right and so I just wanted to commend him for overcoming the struggles that he that he dealt with the adversity right and I know that he's a better person as a result of that and just seeing him not only be mentioned by coach Sark but in a step on the field I want to say he had maybe 10 snaps or so in the second half. As Ian pointed out he had to run stuffs where he just kind of blew it up they try to go north and south down Adam that's a dude that you're not going to move now. So that to answer the question more specifically from from Richard here who where you get a guy likes a deer just by physics right is some of the more perimeter stuff the outside zone running scheme he's, he's still having to learn and fight through some of those things just as far as gap integrity and the responsibilities associated with they call it I guess they call it lagging right Ian touched on that as well but if you're not going to if you're not going to fight to contain the outside shoulder of the center you at least just got to make sure that the right guard doesn't reach you and turn you and so just like little technical things that he's going to have to continue to get better at but the Texas offense to put guys like Cedir Mitchell in a situation where they can get these valuable learning reps and you know they get in the film room and they work on it and everybody's better as a result of it you fail forward right but there's Cedir Mitchell as of right now he's he's he's fifth or sixth on the rotation of interior defensive lineman on this team so going to can be a steady progression yes you're going to need him about that's something maybe at some points in this game sure but it's not a situation where we just see him okay he got 10 snaps last week now all of a sudden he's front line spot right Bill Vernon draw and that's Alfred Collins that's Bill Norton that's in that's a germanolay that's your that's your primary rotation okay go go what barking saw in the first half and then yeah we'll get some more prop you know we'll get some more work for him again in the second half and let's see him do it but he's going to be a rotational guy that's going to continue to recognize more snaps as he continues to earn them I'll throw this one over to you here coach and the same question by by Richard is seeing Bill Norton now again for those of you playing at home Bill Norton wildly experienced player he's coming in here probably I think he's a 12 year senior has played a lot of football a lot of different places so he is one of the people that you bring into that defensive line exactly that he's going to have experience there is not a lot of offense that this guy has not seen so that being said as Landon pointed out it is a it is a very deep room I mean frankly it's a it's a great room so even a guy with that many skins on the wall is having a hard time finding snaps and I think that's a really good sign of the health of your program but I'd love for you to talk on Bill a little bit coach and tell us what your thoughts are this season yeah so well Bill to me he's more of a goal on guy a short yardage guy I really wouldn't play in the open field because he doesn't move very well laterally and he was a two gap guy where we just go and play like play with Tavondre Suede and Byron Murphy last year where I just need you to hold this gap and I move he's perfect for that but the teams we have played we haven't played that kind of style of defense or had too much we did it against Michigan you saw him in there right because we knew Michigan and I saw right at you right so we need everybody to hold a gap and he plays a lot of goal on me just on playing open field that much because to me he just doesn't move well laterally where he gets off blocks and run down a line so he's more needed short yardage and goal on playing against Arkansas no but the option I mean it's we got so many other guys that maybe fit the scheme better right opponent that we're about to play and I just don't see it's not lack of scale just about me and the types of teams that we're playing I don't think he fits that you want more athletic gas more guys who can move up and down line you know when you need to right because a lot of that midline option stuff you got to be able to run and go and people would kind of chop your legs and you got to be able to hurt all over and keep moving is like he just a big guy who doesn't move that will play the style of defense yeah well I want to by the way I want to thank you everybody for your questions coming in be if you want to throw in a super chat in there will guarantee will make that ad read thank you so much cookie we really appreciate it so one of the things we're going to do here in a little bit is James has gone to the twitter sphere has gone to instagram and he's got some takes from our fans here and we really want to we're going to get the opportunity to address those but before we get to any of those takes I want to let's just address what Sandman is talking here I'm going to send this over to you Lando because you're obviously an actual sociopath and root for the Dallas Cowboys so how is nihilism going are you enjoying this just complete sense of doom that's happening in your world and does Jerry make an overture at SARC I'm so tempted to reach over to my soundboard and just press it's a drop it's a sound drop from our god Bishop Bullwinkle if anybody's unfamiliar with that just do yourself a favor and just type it in your search bar when we're done with the stream here I'm not going to press that button and say the famous words hell no we ain't going to do that no right far away SARC wants no he doesn't want Jerry's problems I promise you that right now okay let's just let's just leave it you know what okay just let it out son I can see that I got some pain in your eyes so the the the hesitance there was because just literally out of respect to the chat so I don't go on a 30 minute Cowboys ran about everything that's wrong with them right now but I'll just say this and leave it at that I did a little bit of work yesterday where I opened the video with this right here essentially because it's too bright in here okay when you have an owner that thinks that an east west orientation and the ensuing sun that is inevitably going to shine through and hinder the play of not just the opposed the away team but the home team as well their vision is impeded right but when that's that's a he feels that he still swears that that's a home field advantage okay but when that is something that is impossible to overcome just due to the sheer power of mother nature sure did they have a retractable roof there just had a curiosity they do okay all right well I think this is a and they also have curtain as well that they use for all kinds of other events not just football they're already built into the stadium so it's a problem that he not only can solve but he refuses to solve okay and then he just he swears that it's some sort of advantage when it's not it just becomes more a disadvantage that you have to deal with more often than any other team because it's your home stadium so anyway so I don't want Jerry's problems I can promise you that leave start alone don't touch him let he we ain't going there no sir so yeah I'm really glad I asked it's very it's very impassioned yeah all right James tell us tell the fine folks at home how this started and what you did today yeah so I had an idea yesterday texted Joe but he's on newly dad duty about doing some bold predictions so then I texted LC here we put out a post and said give us your boldest predictions for a chance to be mentioned on the show so we picked five of the best ones and we're all going to react to them and we're going to rate them and tell you how crazy it is or how logical it is and how plausible it might be whatever your take is we'll hear you out and then we'll give you a reason why you're wrong or right I think it's only appropriate that we rate these out of 10 yes just to maintain some semblance of I don't know scientific process so let's start with the first one here this is from Gerald Hopkins and Texas isn't a top three team in the SEC right now now obviously he's connecting this to another thought that we were not privy to but let's just take the last and that's what this is not a top three team in the SEC right now start with you Lando where do you rate this take how do you feel about this. Well I would say that. The committee. Or are they a top three team in the country they think they're in SEC they think that they're a top three team in the country so this out of scale of one to 10 10 being accurate let's just go one. Okay one all right coach for do you land on this. I'll kind of get a gate on profile picture what kind of fan he may be that might help me out a little bit but. All right. No no I'm going to give him right a minute three. Oh it's three. Yeah yeah he may have something some knowledge that I don't have I don't know. Well he certainly knows the spandex. He's got a high and tight especially in those endurance sports like cycling so you know he's he's not completely off there. James where do you land on this one. Oh for starters he spelled Gerald wrong there. There's an A instead of an O. Well that said you have to do that with his mother that site came out. Secondly I'd say you know this isn't exactly the scorching hot take he might have thought it was. I'd say it's probably somewhere in the middle like a four just based on the fact that you know I was thinking about this all right so Georgia did beat us. And then if you're going to I give him the benefit of Alabama I guess and then Ole Miss with how good they look but I would put us somewhere. You know in that top top two there of those four are just listed because it's like you know Ole Miss lost to Kentucky. You know that but and then the Alabama lost to Vanderbilt so I think it's just one of those years where there is really not an elite team because you know we had our worst game of the season in Georgia and then look what happened to Georgia. They totally have collapsed in the last couple weeks. I don't think that's really the scorching hot take he thought it was just on how deep the SEC is. Now if this was the big 12 last year that would be insane but now like we're talking probably four to five teams in the SEC making it. The thing that I love about this bit is it shows to us that the chat has feelings and I want to address those feelings so UT parking is saying that Ole Miss and Georgia are better than Texas. It's all about matchups if we play Bama or LSU for the SEC Championship. I think Texas hoisted trophy so yes it's all about matchups of course it is that's why we make schedules but I want to talk about one aspect in particular of the ranking system it's slightly controversial. Do you think and I'll throw this to you to start Lando do you think that we put too much of a priority on losses and here's what I mean by that. If you take a three lost Georgia team this year versus a one lost Florida state team now Georgia is probably going to be ranked lower than that Florida state team. But do we put too much pressure on that or is it like UT parking is saying here is it really just more about the quality of that schedule because it seems right now that we are putting a lot of emphasis on how many losses a team has. Yeah I mean I think it definitely I don't know I'd have to think about that one for a second to really give it the necessary or I guess the ado credit but just kind of judging based off of what we've seen so far this year. I would say that losses are less of an indictment now just as a result of the expansion then they were in years past and so sure I'm going to leave it right there if anybody else has a has a different or a better take on that. Please feel free to take it but I mean I probably have to sit back and just look at the totality of everybody's schedule at least that within the playoff projection right now just kind of evaluate that as it is but. I do think people have kind of been pointing out that they're kind of benefiting the committee has been like oh well this is a good loss that I think Macaroni went off about that on the playoff first selection last week like saying we're rating pin state because well they lost good right. Well then you look at who pin state has beaten. Sure. Yeah I mean it's it seems kind of I do like it's point about matchups because especially when you're talking about you know 19 to 23 year old kids. All about matchups and any given Saturday Kentucky again to shout them out has not won a game since Ole Miss but on the any given Saturday they don't miss but then on any given Saturday Ole Miss looks like a top three team in the country. So I think it is more so about matchups than people want to give credit to and also this year there has not been an elite team this year is totally chaotic I even still think Oregon is more vulnerable than they have looked. They just kind of crew since Ohio State they haven't really played anybody. You can make this argument with anybody or they haven't played anybody Michigan last year because I saw for fun. We were comparing Indiana's resume to Michigan's last year. Michigan was 10 and 0 with 100 you know schedule 100 strength of schedule and they were ranked third right they would go on to win the championship. So I really think it's about who has the guys Texas does have the guys their schedule hasn't been great but they're going to walk into Cal Field in a couple weeks and even this weekend you'll see what happens. As they call it we saw what happened in Tennessee and you know the ranking committee loves Tennessee right now so we'll just we'll learn that's the thing is they have to they still have to play the games we can talk all we want they still play the games and Texas will prove whether they deserve that number two or number three ranking. Let's go on to our second take that's coming in from James and I'll let you read this one young James. Okay so our next guy said talk all your crap Texas is toughest game left is at Arkansas tell that to Ole Miss and remember the team that beat Tennessee. I would say the toughest game is at Kyle Field obviously for the first time in 13 years so I'm going to say this is a nine on the boldness scale that is a bold take to say Arkansas is higher a morning game in Fayetteville. Give them all their credit for their night games but to say Arkansas is a tougher place to play then Kyle Field I disagree with I'm going to say that's a nine that's very bold statement by Charles. Well first of all Charles has what is ostensibly a VIN number for a handle on on Twitter there which is which is good there are a lot of digits so Charles going to give you some credit here and the other thing too is you used an emoji so straight out the gates 10 out of 10. Now in terms of content I think the thing that I'm lacking here a little bit is is when you say tough do you mean like difficult or just unpleasant because I think this could possibly be the most unpleasant experience that Texas has over the next three weeks and I think that's a fair way of approaching that but Linda what are your thoughts on young Charles opinion here. I think it's it's obviously a name for me as well just because of so like the way that I kind of process this question or just this in general whenever you're just evaluating tough road environments because both of them do. They're they deserve their respect right but where Texas like when it so the environment making communication difficult for your offense it's different when you've gotten more of a formidable opponent defensively, especially with their past defense their past rush that AAM can present it's a it's a bigger problem for Texas on the road right whereas James alluded to it earlier you got a top 10 really pass passing efficient offense in Texas and then you've got really a like a hundred and 18th ranked pass or pass defense from Arkansas side of things and so that's just kind of the way I look at it for me it's just where the environment makes offense more difficult. Arkansas is much less suited to stop what Texas is already really good at so holding on this coach hold of a take is that Lando you got to give your number. I'd say it's probably probably a seven or eight something someone knows. Yeah it's pretty bold I mean great. All right what do you got there coach. That's tough look I don't know this guy maybe Arkansas fan maybe that's why he didn't have a pro could be. I'm probably gonna go to eight Arkansas stuff but it's not tough to have any atmosphere and and Cal fill is just different. Plus 11 am so, you know, it won't be as bad, honestly. That also needs to be mentioned as well. And it was a night game where it's, you know, they're gonna have plenty of fluids all day leading to the game Arkansas and just be waking up, you know, so the question is important. I totally understand I do think that it's also should be noted that in our response to this take in no way are we insinuating that this is going to be a cakewalk for Texas. We're not, we're not downplaying Arkansas's ability. We're just talking about Charles Hough's approach to logic and I think Arkansas's offense is better for for what that's worth. Absolutely. All right kids, let's go to number three here and this is a sure row SS H E R R O W. I'm going to try Texas wins the SEC, the naddy and has three first round picks in the 2025 NFL draft. All right, we're going to start with you coach. Where do you land on this? Yeah, you can give me just a rating quality of take quality. If I'm a, you know, super long nothing at it going to say 10 but I go, I go, I go to five. Look, look, that's that's bold. That's very bold. The win SEC. We got to be consistent too, right? You can't just, you know, we've seen some games or we struggle, we got to play well down stretch. You win three first round picks. I'm not going to count one with kelvin banks. Not that I'm struggling to find two or three is just that we got a lot of football left. Maybe somebody can boost their status. The rest of the way, especially in the playoffs. But I know I got one for sure for us around there and kelvin banks. Three, I don't know. Draft is tricky every year. Isaiah Isaiah bond as of right now is somewhere anywhere between the top 15 to top 20 prospects. Like period. And then jade baron, depending on his 40 time I was having this discussion with one of my one of a good buddy of mine who's our resident draft expert. Ben Laramore, who studied he did full reviews on I want to say somewhere in the 450 player range last year breakdowns and he was saying similar things that coaches are going to. For jade baron may lack in terms of 40 speed which to me is largely irrelevant, especially when I know that even if he's not in the four fours he's going to be in the low four fives that's fine it's perfectly fine. But they'll they'll they'll boost him for his versatility his ability to show that he's a willing tackle he played in the nickel all year last year for the most part and then now he's locking people up on the outside so having that versatility when base defenses in the NFL are there's five DBs on the field most of the time right so if he if he has the ability to travel potentially right that's going to be a big boost for him. But just the speed alone with Isaiah bond I mean there's a lot of people that will tell you in the NFL draft world right who are impartial to Texas that say that he's more of a polished receiver than Xavier worthy was, especially just at the high point. It's the nuance and the craft as a route runner I don't know if I would agree with that. But the speed is very similar right and so people are are they're talking but you look at the draft board right now while it is still early. It seems it seems likely very likely that there's going to be two first round picks from Texas this year and potentially even three. Where do you land on this one here James before we move on to the next topic. Yeah I mean I give this one an eight that's pretty cold just because it's one of those things like when the odds makers do something like a team going undefeated. You're you're almost always you know going to win on the money line on betting something like that because the odds of they might be favored in every single game right but the odds of them checking that box 12 in a row is so it's just slimmed to none right like BYU there's been projects about them finishing on the feed it. And the odds are low just because to check all those boxes and like so many things would have to fall in the place right like he was saying you know Jada maybe gets pumped up. I mean you were talking about Alfred Collins one of your videos recently Lando made you know he's probably day two guy but maybe his stock rises but I do think the odds of three first round picks with KB bond and then you are assuming yours gets back on track. He should probably be a first round pick so that could happen but I think with the SEC thing is just so many tie burgers if let's say we lose in Calfield then we get like you know we get a seven eight seed. They could win one of those things but not the other and then it's just to me that's why prop bets pay out so heavily because that's three right there. The odds of that all hitting. I say that's pretty bold but I like she rose confidence here. Also too I should have also clarified the the bold or the low number on the boldness spectrum for me it's like. I think I think it's very likely it's the least bold of these three here is the first round pick. I just I talked for two minutes about the likelihood of there being two or three and I didn't even mention coin yours. Reach at the quarterback position every single year we see this every single time right there it's just it's the most important position in all sports they're gonna. If they think there's a chance somebody's gonna take it in the first round. That's just the way that it is but. We've got a couple more hot takes we want to get to but before we do that I want to talk about the hottest real estate take of all I want to tell you about Laura Baker. For a new home in the 512 or even at this point let's face it 737 area code there's only one number to call that's Laura Baker at 512-784-0505. As a member of the elite Andy Allen team with Keller Williams Laura has helped Longhorns find the home of their dreams in central Texas just ask our resident sex symbol Ian Boyd who moved all the way from Michigan to Texas with Laura's help. Laura can help you find what you're looking for in the 512 the 737 or even parts of the 254 and the 210 just you know what give her a call at 512-784-0505. Her email is in the description as well as the rest of her contact details she's a friend give her a call. A lot of people don't know this but Justin Wells wrote that ad and put every single number in there that I had to say so again he does everything what doesn't he do. I mean he's just a it's just a savant of all traits let's move into Silvio Dante. Silvio's hot take is Texas will blow out the Aggies in college station they're so fraudulent. Man do I love your enthusiasm. Okay let's start with you James where do you land on this one. Well LC you got to give a shout out to a fellow New Jersey boy in Silvio Dante. So are you paint with a broad brush here James you have no idea I mean Silvio was an import you know maybe he came over from Connecticut. I mean there could be a lot of different places. That was Tony Soprano's top guy. No I know who you're talking about of course. How do you take this one. This one actually so far probably the hardest one to answer. I want to say a 7 on the coldness scale. I feel like that is pretty bold just based on you know the kind of games A&M has been in they've all been close. I feel like this could mirror something like when they played Notre Dame. I think this game will get pretty physical. It's going to be a night game as we talked about it will be well litigated they will be loud. I've been to Kyle Field for a Kentucky game actually and that will say the loudest day and I've been to I'll give them credit for that. I just don't see it blowing them out. You know I mean this game has been 13 years in the making last time we were there Justin Tucker on a game winning field goal. I expect something similar the lines four and a half so the odds that they blow them out. I think I'd say that the 7 on the boldness but you guys think they're fraudulent. Some people think they are after the South Carolina game. I mean it's look everybody says that we're fraudulent so we've got two teams that are that are going against each other that are completely liars. So frauds going on each other. I will say that if Texas was 0 and 10 going into that game and the Aggies were 0 and 10 going into that game. This would still be a very close hard fought game. I these these types of games these rivalry games very rarely go one way or the other and just in terms of massive margin of victory. So I am I really I do think that I do think that we give credit where credit is due here that this is going to be a very close game. I think it's going to be very very day game just like the game with Arkansas just like the game with Kentucky. I am not taking any of these for granted. This is the SEC you have to play every single week. So I do not see this as being a massive blowout. So in terms of the boldness scale and absolute just batshit craziness of a big fan 10 out of 10 you win coach. What do you got here. I'm going to agree with you. It's going to be very hard to blow in and out. They don't play anybody next week. They're game planning for Texas right now. Right, South Carolina beat them because they were able to run the ball. We got to prove that we can. Right. And then give me, you know, I'm well, I ain't ready to make a prediction on that game. I don't want to talk about that. That was a bold take. Yeah, that's a bold thing. I don't think we blow them out. Not not. Not against the SEC refs, not against, you know, everything that's going to happen at night. Doesn't know why we blow them out. Super bold pick. But hey, I like when your heart's it. I like when your heart's it. Lando, where do you think of this? I mean, this is going to be a close game or is it just I see a war coming to prawns on night game. I mean, I'm right there with them. It doesn't you don't have to think outside the box to see that. That's just, that's where I land man there. This is. They they if anybody loves to hate Texas more than they love to love themselves. It's not Arkansas. It's a no. Yeah, and I love Sam man's take here. He's got a couple of pretty good ones as far as the team captains goes. That's pretty. That's like this field field right there from Sam man. Doing a lot of scrolling here. Yeah, pretty sure the team captains for the Aggie game should be Dustin Tucker and coach. It's really nice work and they might have a problem on the field before the game starts. All the strategies right. I appreciate that. All right, we've got. Let's see here. That was number four. We've got one more of these James. You want to take this one for us? Yeah, I mean, this one by Miguel Ortiz that Texas has not hit their stride yet. I. I got a floor on the boldness. I think that is very much possible. We've seen with Ole Miss, right? Ole Miss's first SEC conference games. They didn't score 30 points. Then they go and drop 63 on Arkansas. Sorry Arkansas. And then they go and beat Georgia at home, handedly, like, you know, the biggest loss Kirby Smarts had since 2020. So I think this is like, this is probably a four. I don't think this is really that bold to say that like you were as we've seen in the past couple years. It comes back off injury. It gives them two, three games by that fourth, fifth game. We saw Oregon's Florida. He was getting right. And I think against Arkansas secondary, he could get right. Kentucky, unfortunately, is having a down year. So I think viewers could definitely start to get hotter. And, you know, we can see similar performances to Saturday against Florida. And then he could roll into the playoffs. And now with the playoffs, you're going to see who's the hot team going in, right? I think Texas very well could get back to that, you know, right into their stride, how they were at the beginning of the year where you saw viewers commanding the pocket against teams like Michigan. Yeah, I don't think that's that bold at all. I think that's very likely. Lando, have we hit or stride yet? Absolutely not. And so Coach Stark will be the first one to tell you that too, by the way, every good team knows that they don't peek until the end of the season. You listen to Kirby Smart Talk. You listen to Nick Saban talk. You listen to Steve Sarkeesian talk every single week. Bill Belichick is actually no notorious for this to with his new YouTube show that he's got going on on a week to week basis, though. You're learning something. You're every single week is a new, it's a new quiz that's preparing you for the final test, right? And you're, you're constantly refining and sharpening your tools down the stretch. Because talented as Texas, do not peek until the very end. It's just, that's just the reality of the world that we live in and especially though, even if that weren't the case like if that wasn't just like the coach speak, you know, cliche thing to say. It's anybody who's ever competed at a high level, I think it will candidly admit that too but even if we if we just look past that for a second, and we can take it a step further, and we can just say that Texas is just now starting to get things figured out with a different element of their running game as well, which really does make defending them. You have to defend every single blade of grass when you play this Texas, this Texas offense. And so, for those two reasons, I give that a two on the boldness scale. I think it's, I think it's very real, very accurate. Coach, where do you land on this? I'll give them a four on the boldness scale. Yeah, I give them a four look. For me, I'm a little different, right? I think the offense is what it is, but I think the good teams execute better down the stretch, right? So it just really depends mentally. Mentally, I think that last by we really helped, right? Because it gives you a chance to kind of self scout. Hey, this is working. This is not working, right? And so now you kind of focus on things that work. And that your players are comfortable with running, like certain players, if I'm good at this, this is what we're running. It doesn't matter what, it doesn't matter if you know what it's from it. We execute a high level. This is what we're going to run, right? You see it, even in NFL, when it gets towards the end of the season playoffs, the best team you saw to play better and execute. So maybe Texas is right there. Hey, we had our last by week. We got a reset. Now we're playing better. Oh, like you said, Ole Miss did it, right? They had that by week and they came out firing again, like they start the season. So the good teams do get better. They go, maybe Texas has to hit their stride yet. And we hope that's the case, right? Because we got a lot of football ahead of us, but in the defense, they hit their stride at week one, but that's a little different. So the chat has been on fire and I want, I want you, coaches, I know you're trying to defend your room from. But Charlie, I want you to, I want you to defend this position by somebody in the chat. They say offense is who we are. Does that really, does that really play out when you look at how the games have gone this year? I mean, the argument here is that this is the defensive team. Right. We are defensive team. Texas is the defensive team. I know most people like, wait, what are you telling me? Cause sorry, you know, offensive genius. We are defensive team. So defensive layer team. Offensively, we may be here who we are, right? Because our successful plays are on perimeter screens, to the outside of mine and, you know, we've made a living off that all season. There's been no successful thing we have. And then running outside zone, right? We haven't been able to do a lot of things that we were normally, or start maybe once to do on offense because, maybe not able to execute. I know we struggle with picking up stunts all season. It hasn't really progressed and gotten better. Right. And so more, the more family on you, the more teams can scout you, the more teams can game plan against you. It's all about execution in the day. So it doesn't matter. Even so I said on game day. Hey, I don't have a brand new offense. We've been running the same stuff since day one, right? We just have to execute better and play better. So yeah, the offense is what it is. You just have to execute at a higher level. With this going into. So again, I think what I would encourage everybody to do, we are halfway through the week. We've got several more lives coming up. We've got a live tomorrow morning starting at nine thirty central time. And then we're going to get you our game picks on Friday with the round table. And then again, you'll have inside the program with Justin and Eric. Justin and Eric are actually on the road right now. They are, they are on the road watching some high school ball. Oh, she made it in. She absolutely well done.
