When you find yourself in a situation where you have no one to lean on but God, don’t be discouraged. Encourage yourself. Remind yourself of God’s faithfulness. The same God who delivered you before will do it again!

Encourage Yourself
(dramatic music) - Good morning to you. I want to read something to you from 1st Samuel's out to 30 verse six. And David was greatly distressed for the people's sake of stoning him because the soul of all the people was grieved. Every man for his sons and for his daughters. But David encouraged himself in the Lord, his God. This is what I want to talk about this morning. Encourage yourself. ♪ I love you Lord ♪ ♪ For your mercy never fails me ♪ ♪ And all my days ♪ ♪ I've been held in your hands ♪ ♪ Tell him from the moment ♪ ♪ From the moment that I wake up ♪ ♪ And tell I lay my hand ♪ ♪ I will listen of the goodness of God ♪ ♪ Come on and tell him all my life ♪ ♪ You have been faithful ♪ ♪ And all my life you have been faithful ♪ ♪ Thank you Lord Jesus ♪ ♪ And all my life you have been so, so good ♪ ♪ With every breath that I am able ♪ ♪ And I will sing of the goodness of God ♪ ♪ Tell him I love your voice ♪ ♪ I love your voice ♪ ♪ Thank you Lord Jesus ♪ ♪ You have led me through the fire ♪ ♪ In my darkest night ♪ ♪ You are close like no other ♪ ♪ I've known you as a father ♪ ♪ I've known you as a friend ♪ ♪ And I will live in the goodness of God ♪ ♪ Tell him all my life you have been faithful ♪ ♪ And all my life you have been faithful ♪ Come on and sing it to him on this one. ♪ And all my life you have been so, so good ♪ ♪ Tell him with every breath ♪ ♪ With every breath that I am able ♪ ♪ I will sing of the goodness of God ♪ ♪ Tell him your goodness is running after me ♪ ♪ Your goodness is running after ♪ ♪ It's running after me ♪ ♪ Your goodness is running after ♪ ♪ It's running after me ♪ ♪ With my life laid down I'm surrendered now ♪ ♪ I give you everything ♪ ♪ Your goodness is running after ♪ Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, being past Amy, we lift your wonderful people up before you on this morning. Dear God, we lift that one up before you who needs strength. We lift that one up before you who is overwhelmed, who is at the end of their rope, who needs encouragement on this morning. Father, we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that the strength of the Holy Spirit would come upon them right now, give them that push that they need to get through what they're going through. Jesus, your word says I'll never leave you no forsake you, but I'll be with you even unto the end of this world. Minister to them this morning, strengthen them, I pray. Lord, your word says they that wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength. They shall man up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not get weary, they shall walk and not faint. Dear God, renew their strength this morning. David said, wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart. Lord, I thank you for strength (speaks in foreign language) I thank you for strength coming into your people right now in their spirit, in their soul, in their mind, in their bodies. Right now, strength received the strength of God in the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Someone say, amen. Glory be to God, good morning to your saints of the Most High. So good to be back with you as we continue this series, Overcoming Adversity, and on this morning, we are talking about encourage yourself. Encourage yourself. Sometimes you got to do it, you can't always wait for somebody to come and do it for you, amen? You got it, there are times in your life, you just got to encourage yourself, as we will see in the scriptures here, in the life of David in 1st Samuel chapter 30, verse one through seven, the Bible says, and it came to pass when David and his men will come to Zechlage on the third day that the Amalekites had invaded the South, and Zechlage and smitten Zechlage and burned it with fire. And this is one of the cities that the Philistines, one of the Philistine kings, Aikish, who loved David, and had great, David had great favor with him, he gave the city of Zechlage to David and his men. And David was offering service to Zechlage to Aikish, to go and help him when Aikish was about to go and fight against Israel and King Saul. But the lords of the Philistines said, we can't trust David, the men that he get out there and see Saul, he is gonna turn against us, and I tell you what, they were absolutely right. So they told David, we don't trust you, you need to go back to Zechlage, and we got this. But what happened is while David and his men were not home, they're anime game, and the devil's always looking for an opportunity. And he always shows up when Adam is in present, come on somebody. So David had taken a trip, him and all of his mighty men of war, and when they came back, the Amalekites had literally ravaged the entire city, burned their houses to the ground and carried off their wives' captors, that's called the verse too. And they had taken the women captives that were therein, they slew not any either great or small, but carried them away and went on their way. Lord help us Jesus. So David and his men came to the city and behold, it was burned with fire, and their wives and their sons and their daughters were taken captives. Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept until they had no more power to weep. I believe I'm talking to somebody this morning who was going through a serious situation. You've suffered great losses. And just like David and his men, they wept and wept until they had no more power to weep. Have you ever been in a place like that, where you were dealt with such a devastating blow that you, we call it, you cried your eyes out. That means you cried until you had no more tears to cry. You just poured everything out. Well, David and his men, they were distressed and they were absolutely overwhelmed because they lost their homes, they lost everything. And then their wives was carried off as slaves, taken captives. Man, that would get me riled up. Now watch this, verse five says, and David's wives were taken captives, a hen on the gesser line is an Abigail, the wife was able to come alike. And David was greatly distressed, and won't you hear this? And David is verse six, and David was greatly distressed. Why? For the people spake of stoning him, this is his own man. They spake of stoning him because the soul of all the people was grieved every man for his sons and for his daughters, watch this. But David encouraged himself in the Lord has gone. There are times in your life like David, you have to encourage yourself because sometimes the people you love, the people you trust the most, like David's men, they weren't thinking straight. They were so grieved over their children and wives being taken as captives by the enemy that they started to turn their anger on the wrong person. David was their leader. David was their mentor. David was their everything. He was the one who raised him up from out of obscurity. He taught these men to fight. These were some of the men who came to him in the caves of Adelom. But when people ain't thinking straight, they can quickly forget when people come under stress and pressure. It's easy for them to forget all the good you have done for them. And David realized, I can't wait for no one else. I'm going courage myself. And the Bible says at the end of verse six, David encouraged himself in the Lord is God. I'm talking to somebody. You've been dealing with situations. You've been dealing with circumstances that have frustrated you. That's got your back against the wall. And you wait on someone to come and encourage you. But I'm telling you on this morning, the word of the Lord over your life, you need to encourage yourself. I've learned, me and Pastor Amy, both, we have learned, we can't wait for no one to encourage us. Get some worship music, put that worship music on. Get in that closet, get alone with God. David said, when my heart went in me is overwhelmed. Take me to the rock that's higher than I. Dare God, mando loboko, shikara mando lobo saia. I pray for you this morning. May and Pastor Amy join our faith. With you, we pray for you. We lift you up before the Lord right now. You are weak, your back is against the wall. You don't know which way to turn. And like David said, when my heart went in me is overwhelmed. That's where you are at this morning. You are overwhelmed. But God's gonna make a way for you where there seems to be no way. David said, when my heart went in me is overwhelmed. Take me to the rock that's higher than I. That rock is Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. May and Pastor Amy lift you up right now. We pray strength into your spirit, strength into your soul, strength into your body. We say, be encouraged. Be encouraged. God is on your side. This battle is not yours. It belongs to the Lord. Greater is he that's in you than he that's in the world. Father God touched him. Touch him and strengthen him right now. God, take him from weakness to strength, from sickness to healing. From one to give up, to pain and courage, do it right now, God. Oh my, I feel the strength of God. I feel the strength of God. I feel the strength of God. I feel the strength of God be strong. I feel the strength of God coming into your spirit. I feel the strength of God. Glory to God. Be strong. Thank you, Holy Ghost. In the power of his might be strong. Tell him be strong. Listen to me. Be strong, saints. Be strong. God's bringing strength into your body, into your spirit, into your soul, into your mind. I see some of you, your mind have been in turmoil. Those who's bringing peace to your mind right now. And he's bringing strength to your spirit. He's doing it right now. Be strong. Receive strength. Receive strength right now. Receive the strength of God. Receive the strength of God right now in the name of Jesus Christ, the son of the living God. Receive strength in Jesus' name.
