AP News, I'm Ed Donoghue, O.J. Simpson has died. A message posted on Simpson's official X account, formerly Twitter, said he died after battling cancer at the age of 76. Simpson was a star football player in college and in the NFL. He moved on to sports casting and acting. He also was known for his acquittal on charges he killed his ex-wife and her friend. One piece of evidence was the bloody gloves. If it doesn't fit, you must acquit. O.J. Simpson was later found liable in a separate civil trial. A decade later, a jury convicted him of armed robbery in Las Vegas for stealing from two sports memorabilia dealers and spent nine years in prison. As far as the death of his ex-wife, Simpson said this in his book. Trust me, I would have never taken a call from our two little children. I would have taken myself out of their lives, not Nicole out of their lives. David Zucker, who directed Simpson in the Naked Gun Movie, said he is acting was a lot like his murdering. He got away with it, but no one believed him. L.A. Dodger star Shohei Otani's interpreter is being charged with bank fraud. Ipe Mizuhara was Otani's longtime interpreter and ended up stealing more than $16 million for crimes involving gambling debts and theft. U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada announced the charges. He said the betting started in 2021. Over time, Mr. Mizuhara's bets became more and more frequent. And over time, Mr. Mizuhara's bets became larger and larger in amounts. He added that Otani has been cooperative in this case, providing access to his bank and phone records. I want to emphasize this point. Mr. Otani is considered a victim in this case. There's been no information about the status of the MLB's separate investigation. I'm Haya Panjwani. On Capitol Hill, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Coshida urged Congress to consider the importance of global commitments at a time of tension in the Asia Pacific and deep skepticism in Congress about U.S. involvement abroad. This is AP News. O.J. Simpson's time as a football player transitioned to the entertainment world. Here's the AP's Margis Araletta. One of the enduring images of O.J. Simpson's career as an entertainer was his running through an airport and leaping over counters for Hertz rental cars in the 1970s. In 1978, he was the second pro athlete to host Saturday Night Live after Fran Tarkington. "Please throw down your guns!" Simpson was known for playing Nordberg in the Naked Gun movies, and he had a role in the towering Inferno. He was considered for the title role in The Terminator, but producers thought Simpson had too nice of an image to be considered a cold-blooded killer. Simpson was working on a movie called Frog Man shortly before the 1994 deaths of his ex-wife and her friend. I'm Archie Zaraletta. "Thought he'd say an eight-year-old Kentucky boy died of a fentanyl overdose last month, not an allergic reaction from eating a batch of strawberries. A man living in the boy's house is charged with manslaughter." I'm Ed Donahue, AP News.
