I'm talking to our friend Cindy Adams, marketing and special events manager for the City of Eden, where we're getting into all kinds of holiday things. Cindy, oh, this is an exciting time of the year, isn't it? It's the best. Yes, it is. You're right about that. So bring us up to the minute. What's happening? Well, I'm going to start this Friday. What I call the event of the year is the Eden Kiwanas Club pancake. Oh, yeah. That will be in the Moorhead High School cafeteria for $30 to $7.30 is all you can eat. It's only $8. And if you want to see anybody, that's the place to be. Yeah, that's right. So that is coming up again. So that is that's this week. That's Friday. Wonderful. Yeah. Okay. And then we have three beautiful tree lightings coming up. And I'll just name them. Okay. And have the one in Letesville, which will be in Jean Harrington Park on Tuesday, November 26th at six o'clock. Okay. Then we have the second one on Monday, December 2nd at six o'clock. And it's the spray Christmas tree. This was added last year. It was a beautiful event, very well attended. It's at Fire Station number three located on Morgan Road in that, you know, that's at six o'clock. And then on Tuesday, December 3rd is the long running draper tree lighting ceremony. That community comes together and they have s'mores and cookies and tree lighting and singing. And this is at the corner of Philcrest Road and Stadium Drive. And they call that the Draper Children's Corner. And that's a live tree there. And for that one, they encourage the community to bring an ornament and hang it on the tree. Santa will be at the spray tree lighting and the draper tree lighting. So bring the kids to meet Santa and look at those beautiful trees as they were lit for the holiday season. Oh, that's wonderful. And the one in Draper there on the corner is what time? It's at six as well. All three of them. All right, six. Yeah. Okay. Good. All right. So we've got up town, Eden, November 26th. Got spray on December 2nd. We've got to Draper, December 3rd. So there you go. Lots of Christmas tree time for all of us. That's wonderful. Okay. Yeah. All right. Now, other events coming up? Well, you got two parades. Yes. You have the old little nighttime Christmas parade. And I know they've been working very, very hard on that will be Friday, November 29th at 630. And then you have the 57th annual Draper Children's Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 7th, beginning at 11. And I think that the deadline may be up, but they've done t-shirts together this year for the parades. But oh, wow. So the tree lighting, the parade. I mean, if you're not in the Christmas spirit, this will do it. Yeah. It is on top there. No, no, it doesn't. No, it gets better and better. We are excited about our sixth annual Winter 5th. That will be Friday, December 6th from 538 here on the campus of City Hall in Grogan Park. Yeah. Yeah. And I've got a little something to kind of help us out with this here. Just stand by just a moment here, Cindy. I'm right here at the piano here in the studio. Play a little tune here this morning. I wish I could play the piano. But I wanted to kind of set the spirit here. So the Winter 5th, oh my gosh, this is such a wonderful event. Yeah, we love it. Santa will be there as well. The Grinch will be there as well. That will duel it out a little bit there. But we have lots of characters walking around for photo ops with the kids. There's games, inflatable, hot chocolate bar, Brunswick Stu, Smores bar. We're going to have big barbecue there this year. Outdoor movies this year is a Christmas story. And we have a six and a half foot inflatable Ralphie in his bunny costume. Oh wow. But we'll have popcorn. The United Way is back with their extraordinary basket raffle. That has become very, very popular. Oh yeah. The bigs will be there with funnel cakes and treats. And decorations are just over the top. We've added more this year. And so it's just a fun night. We'll have a treat. We'll already be lit. We didn't want to compete with the other three. So ours will already be lit. But it's a beautiful winter night outside. It is. Yeah. I can't believe it's the sixth year for that either. It's like we just started that. That really flew by. That's kind of scary. But that is certainly on my calendar. I would not miss this. And if you're new to the area, listen, listen folks, you do not want to miss Winterfest. They're the campus at Grogan Park at Eaton City Hall. And that is December 6th, 5.30 till 8. What a wonderful event that is. And there's so many different parts to that too, as you just mentioned. It is. And it's something for everybody. We encourage families and some for kids. You know, it's a great place for teenagers to come for a little night out together. Get some hot chocolate. Would you bring your chairs and your blankets, snuggle up and watch that movie. We'll have outdoor heaters if it's cold. And then signal, what's big node. I apologize. I think I said that wrong. We'll be there as a sponsor with us and they're going to have candy for the kids in Christmas Story Cubs. I can't wait to see that. Oh wow. They were there last year with cookies. Very excited. Great addition. And so we're glad they'll be with us as well. Okay. Well, glad to welcome them aboard. And we welcome everyone to come and join everyone there at Winterfest on December 6th. That's a Friday night and a good way to wrap up the week and get the weekend started and your holiday shopping and things like that perhaps. That's right. Okay. Wow. So much going on and explore Eden NC is a good source there to find out. We're not finished. No, no, no. I can tell you not. I'm with you. I'm hanging in right here with you. On Saturday, December 14th. And this is cute. This is the first time that Uptown Eden has done that. This is with the help of Ken White, our main street director. But he says it's about to get ugly. Oh boy. They're doing an ugly Christmas sweater shopping. And they're calling it the largest ugly Christmas sweater party in Rockingham County. Yeah, you can spend the day shopping in Uptown Eden, wearing your ugly Christmas sweater. They're actually going to do a parade with everybody who has an ugly sweater on. They're going to meet at one o'clock at that little pork shop. And I learned something this morning for the character that I've always called the abominable snowman from Rudolph is actually called a bumble. Did you know that? No, I had no idea. I did not know that. But the bumble will be there. And then they're all going to walk together to the Christmas tree there in Jean Harrington Park on the corner. And the Grinch will be there for photo ops and things. Sounds like a great time. And Uptown Eden shops will be decorated and full of gifts and treats and good spirit. And so that'll be a great time to come along Washington Street, Monroe, and all that area. Yeah, yeah. That's Saturday December 14th. You said first time? Oh, that's not what a neat idea that is. Yeah. Yeah, it is. Okay. Well, thanks. And now we've learned something too about the abominable snowman. So I never knew he was a bumble. I didn't know. Now, is that something Ken White has told you? He did. Can we trust that source? I think we can. I think and Donna have decided that's what he is. Okay, good. We'll go with that for sure. All right. And then we'll end Jared Nykamp, our friend with the ridge. And he has done our meals for our grown and gathered events and just just a great chef. Everything he cooked is delicious. But he is doing his taste of the holidays from around the world again. This is quite the event. It's December 14th and 15th. You need to reserve. But he will be doing that at his facility in Wentworth located at 342 Cherokee Camp Road. Seating will be limited. They're going to be seated at six. Dinner service begins at 630. And his menu is always a secret. Yeah. I've tried to get that out of him. I bet you have to try to get that menu where he won't tell. Cannot get it. So, but it's a great neat way. A lot of people let they'll sell out quick. So if you're interested, please call the ridge and get your or you can go online and get your on the blissful palate page, blissful palate catering and make your reservations. Yeah, we have always enjoyed that. So I'm glad to know that. So back again this year, a taste of holidays from around the world. That's so nice. Yeah, we'll be. Yeah. So again, if anybody said there's nothing to do. These people said I'm safe. Yes. Yes. We've got it covered for Christmas in Eden. That is certainly for sure. Oh my goodness. That's right. Lots of fun. Yeah. Explore Eden and see again. Check out that Facebook page. Explore it in NC.com. And can we get in a plug for what's happening at Draper Landing next week? Absolutely. Very exciting. We are going to do a ribbon cutting at one o'clock on Monday the 25th at the Draper access point, which used to be just a landing bear with steps. But your vessel in but North Carolina wildlife service came in and did us an awesome boat ramp. The whole area looks totally different. Ray Thomas and his crew have worked very hard to landscape to have better parking, more visibility down there for safety. And so it is going to be quite a treat to see that. We're going to celebrate that at one o'clock next Monday. So a week from today. Great. Okay. Another another nice river access point right here in Eden with our wonderful rivers. Yeah, it is. And duck hunters will love that. You know, it's great for safety for for emergency. We hope that doesn't ever happen. But if an emergency rescue had to take place, it's better easier to get in now than one. Sure. Okay. Wow. Thank you for all the wonderful news. Cindy Adams. And also one more thing. Oh, wow. And I don't know if they've sold out. I may be over speaking here, but public works is doing a stew on Wednesday. In my opinion, it's the best around. Yeah, it's great. You could call public works and reserve some courts of that. Again, they may be sold out. And I hope I'm not overstepping there. But that is a great food. Yeah, I agree with you on that one for sure. And you know, the weather, hard to believe it's going to be maybe 70 is today. But by a stew time, next to the week, it will be it will be time for that public works to you. You'll really appreciate that to warm up. That'll be a nice treat will be. Well, you've got so many nice treats for us. And I know you are recognizing your Riverfest people tomorrow night at Eden City Council, too. I am and actually I'm recognizing everybody who helped throughout the year, you know, I take the village to do this. And when I listed how many people and I listed all that we did, it's a lot. And so but I think these people need to be recognized. Some of them help with absolutely everything. And some of them, they have their little niche that they like. But I think it's very important. And I want them to know just how I and the city of Eden appreciate all that they do all during the year to make this all happen. Yeah, well, you're the leader that gets it started and all the planning and hours and hours and days and days and months to make these events for us to enjoy all through the year. Yeah, you've got a great team. So yeah, Eden City Council meeting tomorrow night at six. Okay. All right. Thank you, Cindy. Thank you, Mike. Well, we'll see you at all of the different events and check with you soon. Thanks again. Sounds great. Thank you so much. I have a great day. Yeah, you too. Okay, there's Cindy Adams.
