Mike Moore Media. On our media line, I have Heywood Cloud Junior, Assistant Readsville City Manager of Community Services. Hey Wood, good to talk to you again. How you doing? How are things going? Good morning, Mike. Good to talk to you again. Yeah, it's been a little while, but we want to catch up on some things. I know you've got a lot of good news for us, but let's get into holiday events because my goodness, the decorations are up and all things coming together there for the City of Rachel. So, so bring us up to date on all of that. Okay, so since last month, I know we've had the the last few years we've had the downtown trick-or-treat with the City of Readsville and our downtown merchants that has gone well and is growing year by year. We have thousands of kids that come out this year. It has grown every year. The kids seem to really enjoy their work comes out with the costumes and parents. The adults have been participating with their costumes too and we've gotten a lot of positive feedback from that. After that, we had our Lake Readsville haunted trail on a movie night. We did a trunk or tree and then we got a haunted trail that we set up through the woods at Lake Readsville. People seem to enjoy that as well. In terms of our holiday decorations, I think manager or wooder, some of wooder has done excellent jobs in the last few years. It's become kind of a destination for many people from around the triad to come and take pictures of our take pictures without holiday decorations. We had to follow decorations up with all the pumpkins and and all those things and then you got a couple of surprises for you coming up for our Christmas decorations. We're looking forward to that. That's going to be a big thing and people really, again, enjoy that. Yeah, I'm glad you gave us kind of an update on some of those Halloween activities and, you know, spooky woods. That's become really a hit, hasn't it, too? Oh, yeah. I mean, I think people, you know, people are just enjoying it and so we try to do what we can to continue to give the people to the Readsville things to do and call their life things. That's just one of the few things that we like to do. Yeah, yeah. A lot going on in Parks and Rec, too. So I'm on the Readsville Parks and Recreation Facebook page right now, but I see all kinds of things going on and Quentin and I talked recently. I know I think we've got some things that you wanted to talk about as well. So bring us up today. Parks and Rec, hey, Wood. Okay, so we have, as you know, we've been working on resurfacing one of our tennis courts, the J.C. Parks that is needed and a facelift and an additional two additional pickleball courts. So they have been paid. They both have and now we're just awaiting for the of the time that needs to be allotted for it to cure or do whatever it, you know, needs to do in order for the striping contractor to come through and and and and strip it. But the paving of it's been done. I know we got a lot of requests from our avid pickleball players to build more courts. So we got two new ones going to be all thin stands and striping ready to go. Come mid winter, late spring, mid winter and early spring and the same goes for our chance course. So we've only got those two projects done and so we are excited about being excited for our community to be able to come out and enjoy those amenities here with City. Sure. Yeah, people love people love pickleball, don't think? Oh, yeah, it's just becoming really, really big. So we thought we got plenty of requests from our pickleball players here locally. So we tried to accommodate them. I know it took a while, but I want to thank them for their patience on giving us the opportunity to go out and improve those things for them. Yeah, and tennis going well to right there in regional and county wide. They've been kind of renewed interest in that in the last several years. So that's exciting too. I know. Oh, yeah, absolutely. And so again, as a city, we tried to be good stewards of taxpayers dollars to be able to provide those amenities for the people here who are taxpayers citizens and we want to continue to do things that are pleasing for those that want to participate notes. Sure. Yeah, I saw the other thing we. Yeah. Well, I was gonna say I wanted to mention this too, because I haven't even put this on our community calendar yet, but I will. But I see here on the Readsville Parks and Recreation Facebook page, the coat drive and I know that's an annual event there. So don't need a brand new gently use coat that that's that's really special too. Yeah, I was gonna I was gonna bring it up once we got to. Okay, but that's fine. But the one other thing I want to say is that we have you also know, I think we talked last and probably talked to Quinn, we renovated our Jim our recreation gym floor and it looks beautiful. I take I like that. It's about to come out. Take a look at that and enjoy this really. It's a really big project and it was a it's really nice in our basketball season for we'll start in December. So we're looking forward to here in those sneakers running around in there and make this quick. You know, it's a disservice play on. So we're excited about that. I've seen I've seen those pictures and that is absolutely a beautiful facility. Now what you've done with that? Yeah, the other thing is we are in in conversation with a local corporate sponsor about another dog park. You know, we have one now that just that Lord J.P. Park. And so but we have some issues with blood in there when we get a lot of a lot of rain. So we're working with one of our local corporations to find another site to do that to a new dog park. So we're hoping that everything that works out well. Oh good. I hope so too. Yeah. And the last thing is Lake Ridgeville. So we got several things going on Lake Ridgeville. We have, of course, you know, we have our athletic field out there and so we will be installing a digital scoreboard and gate system out at Lake Ridgeville. So so our campers and everyone who comes in who who are camping or fishing or whatever, they will soon have instead of having to get out and open the gate manually. They'll have a keypad to be at a point. So we're upgrading that. Oh, yeah, that's great. That was got a lot of older older people and people who just don't like to be in convenience of getting out of the car. So that's a good thing that we are upgrading that will be available for those who visit Lake Ridgeville. And we also just installed a jump pad, it's like a little jump pillow for the children. And so we're also working with another corporate sponsor to build a fence around it. And so that's going to be something that's going to be really, really nice come spring for our youth and those who want to play on that. Yeah. Oh, good. And so the last thing is which I can now come up for grades to our camp ground this winter. We're finalizing the exact start date, but several things we want to do that we're going to do out there. Thanks to our city council appropriating funds to improve, you know, a lot of people will talk about how Lake Ridgeville is a hidden gem. So we want to continue to do everything that we can to make that attractive for people to come and visit and enjoy all the activities there. We'll be doing everything from, you know, paving some of the travel ways, some removal, adding more campsite, some paid, and just doing overall campsite upgrades. So I think people who who who visits our campground regularly and hopefully people who will come into our campground for the first time will really enjoy the things that we're planning on doing there again. A exact start date hadn't been chosen yet, but it's going to be this winter. We hope to have everything done by early spring. And so we're looking forward to that as well. Yeah, I have a good friend in the western part of the county who does a lot of camping of all places, all different kind of places, but he he always seems to go back to Lake Ridgeville. It's close by and he loves it there. So he'll be excited to know about the upgrades and the improvements. Yeah, that's wonderful. And that brings a lot of people into to Rockingham County to that can shop and dine here. And so yeah, so so welcome to the county. They'll appreciate those upgrades. Absolutely. Yeah. And then to your your other point about on December 14th, we'll have our annual co-drive, which is we call it Operation Warm. And we're planning on giving out a hundred brand new coats. That's something we've done the last few years. And want to continue to do that for those who are less fortunate. So we just want to do our part to give back. Mm hmm. Yeah. That's that's a great, great cause. Great thing you do there too. So the coat drive December 14th on that. Okay. Yes, sir. All right. Oh, wow. Lots of important information here. Thank you. Hey, Wood. I appreciate all of that. We all do. Yeah. We appreciate you keeping everyone in the know about these things. We I mean, I know you you have a thankless job, but we appreciate all that you do on getting the word out and informing our citizens of the thing that have happened. We'll free. Well, thank you. Do whatever we can. Yeah, good things happening with team Readsville all the time all through the year. Yeah. Yeah. All right. Hey, Wood. Well, let me we won't talk again. So let me wish you a happy Thanksgiving and all the best for the Christmas season. And I guess we'll probably talk again, maybe be the new year. But thanks for this podcast today. I appreciate it. We all do. Yes, sir. And thanks to you. Hope you and your you and your family have a great holiday. Thanks a lot. Okay. Bye bye. All right. Okay.
