Obituaries for Monday, November 18, three announcements from Boone and Cook Funeral Home. Philip Anthony Purdy, Sr., 78 of Eden, died November 15, arrangements are incomplete. He was born in Leaksville and was a retired mechanic with the City of Eden. He was predeceased by wife Patricia Wallace Purdy. And it survived by children Philip Purdy, Jr., of Ridgeway, Kim Purdy, and Elmer Bayes of Eden, Tammy Orville of Georgia, Christie Treadway of Ridgeway, and Joy Michelle Rakes of Readsville, and four grandchildren. Devon Michelle Dalton Spencer, 59, died November 16. Funeral services are Thursday at two, visitation at one, family will receive friends other times at the residence, internment in Woodland Cemetery. She was born in Eden and formerly worked for Walmart, surviving our daughter Kayla Spencer and Jeremy Beard, mother Trudy Dalton of Eden, siblings Renee Lee and Dale of Bassett, Monique Woods and John and Andy Dalton of Eden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to encore compassionate care. Alexander Chester, 68 of Stonewall, died November 15. A celebration of life service is Saturday at three. The family will receive friends at two and other times at the residence. He was born in Newark, New Jersey and retired from Miller Cores. Surviving our wife is wife of 36 years, Tammy Clark Chester, children Ryan Hall and Nicole of Stokesdale, Ridge Chester and Lindsay, and Alexis Chester and Zach Colford all of Stonewall, sister Aileen Hollifield of Eden, brothers Skeeter Williams and Pam of Ruffin, Ed Chester and Tina, Joseph Chester and Sharon, and three grandchildren. The family thanks Dr. Terry Daniel and Dr. Laura Patois for their care, family, special friends and co-workers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SECU Family House in Winston-Salem, a non-profit organization for families battling cancer. Reverend Joe Lewis Perkins, 89 of Axton died November 13. Public viewing is today 1-5 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home in Eden. The family will receive friends tomorrow at 1230 at Gospel Light Holiness Church with a celebration of life at one and determined in the church cemetery. He was born in Axton, worked several manufacturing positions throughout his career and served as a minister of Gospel Light Holiness Church. Survivors include sisters Emma Scales of Eden, Sandra and Kirkwood Cabinis of Greensboro. [BLANK_AUDIO]
