Recruiting Intel LIVE (11/19): Texas targets taking visits, New Predictions, Flips?
Good morning and welcome to another edition of Recruiting Intel here on the inside Texas football YouTube channel powered by inside Texas Dot-com basically going back to back Paul and Homer just got done But we'll take over and keep it recruiting focused here on Tuesday because gentlemen the last opportunity for Texas to You know host a regular season game Let's say because we don't know what's happening with the playoffs But the last chance for the Longhorns to host a regular seat host prospects for regular season game is this Saturday? Of course, we've got some new predictions. We've got some new info as far as you know Texas commits taking visits. So a lot to cover make sure you like this video subscribe to the channel And of course head to inside Texas comm so Justin let's start all the way in in Georgia place You got to go check out not too long ago You were able to go see the grace and Rams play a little bit of football One of the top targets was Joseph and Bacho And yesterday we had our own Eric melene put in a prediction for and Bacho to end up at Texas Steve Wilfong and Chad Simmons join them and it seems like Texas for the former floor to commit Race from second place to out in front for past the Auburn Tigers and as this recruitment could be coming to a close Yeah, when he when he came out of the floor to visit We had we caught up with him a little bit and caught up with some sources Turns out he really enjoyed the Florida trip and he still has a couple visits left He still has to go see he's gonna go see USC And I believe that's this weekend and then he's also gonna try to hit Tennessee and the Tennessee LSU game after that Um, and so it's one of those things where when you put all the teams together There was one consistency, you know one of the coaches at Grayson that said man That kid changes his leader every week and then he'd say that Texas is the one he talks about the most And then I'd say mention it to another source and he'd go well, Texas is the one that's can the most consistent That's the one he talks about the most of people and so we feel really good about Joseph and Bacho you wind it up at Texas right now They need they need two more defense alignment in this cycle He fits that mold six five about 280 a little light in the britches right now, but has the frame To to go the Hall of Fame. I mean the guy has got He plays hard. He's smart. He has no bad habits You know this guy put on pads for the first time in his life in the spring And so this is all so new to him, but you know what if you want to Play to mold Joseph and Bacho is the guy that you want to mold You know, I think when when people Think about defensive line. It's like oh just be bigger than the other guy and move him out of the way But there there's more thinking to it now than ever You have to know you have to be able to look up engage the 300 pounder in front of you See behind him and choose the right direction and for a first-time player. That's not easy But coach when you think about someone who is six six two eighty And you know, there's a potential down the line. He could be great at this It's it's the type of I don't want to say chance, but it's it's a it's a type of ticket you buy not knowing What the ride's gonna be just because it could be a real fun one. Yeah, look, it's the new way Do you see a ton of guys looking for size and athleticism and he has that like they always say it sucks his size It's something you can't teach right. It's just DNA and luckily You know this guy can move for his size And so it's like it's like Justin said just some clay you want to mold and turn it into this magnificent vase man And I think this kid has ability to do it because he works hard. He's actually out there really trying to better himself I think being so new to football or just putting pads on and he's on he already looks like this and he's dominating guys So imagine how good he's gonna get and so You cannot just you can't we can't say no to someone of that size and that statue who can move like that You just open your mouth and say, you know, thank you guys. Let's go. You know, that's pretty much it Yeah, think thinking about the class. You've got Josiah Sharma And coach correct me if I'm wrong on either of these guys Sharma and Charles kind of look like noses Though they're gonna be guys who play the one maybe a zero and a pinch or in a certain situation Definitely Sharma. Yeah Bacho seems like someone who can play three and when you get into those situations even four if necessary Yeah, definitely I think he's versatile so he can play maybe even five if you ask him to just because I have much Hey, how much way he puts on when he gets to Texas and so yeah, he got Sharma and Myra and Charles who probably played in tear here Who also still can move like they're playing a they can play a three-taker for eye But about you I can definitely see him as a four eye three or maybe even a five and a pinch Depending on the phones that the Texas runs and I think I One of the things with football I can never remember is like under and over But like I think with you know playing if you're playing a one-tech you are over the okay I got to get this right. You're over the shoulder of the center if you're playing three tech you're over the Outside shoulder of the guard And then four I you're on the the eye of the tackle five you're on the outside shoulder So like that's kind of explaining where there are you think of the zero and one is like the big guys But PK changes things around but that's all to say that Joseph and Bacho is is extremely versatile. It has to potentially be versatile There's a lot to work with a lot of progress to go They always say the closer to the ball you play the longer it takes for you to get on the field And this may be a definite case of that not just in the physical development Which she's pretty advanced for a day, but the game the hands all that stuff It's something for Kenny Baker to work on Before we keep on going kind of good question here from from Dave H As Texas done at corner with Grace and Littleton in the boat now Also, but what happens at linebacker if the Longhorns get wily thanks for all the hard work Justin They have Caleb Chester. They have now Grace and Littleton But they're still recruiting a lot of star players in the in the defensive backfield Yeah, they want another corner that they want one more There's a handful in the mix right now and mostly these are guys that they're gonna try to flip You know Dory and brew is the one that popped in for Texas, Georgia. They're still in the mix there Kate Phillips is another one former Texas commit. They're still pushing there They're still in coach Williams knows that one better than I do. They're still pushing there To try to get him on campus before he before signing day LSU's kind of creating a little bit over in Baton Rouge Cortland Guillory there. They're just handful. I went and saw a couple from Houston last week And so they want one more they're gonna try to get one more. I don't think it's gonna be difficult I think they're gonna be able to flip one of them as for Kellen Wiley that one's gonna be interesting because I think Texas is in a great spot today But really you're gonna have to ask me about that after Miami like I think people are overestimating How how big Miami could be in state in that recruitment and so at the end of the day right now? They're definitely gonna add another corner They've got their eyes on three or four guys that they're still talking to that are committed to other schools They never let up talking to some of these kids and as for Wiley let's wait until he gets out of Coral Gables because the in-state Florida pool is Stronger when you get closer to signing day because that's proximity. That's staying closer to home That's mom and dad getting a little bit more involved as well And so look let's see what Wiley says after the Miami trip Yeah, a lot of different things going on at linebacker you have Elijah Barnes who I think one of the things that we've Really noted on inside Texas and Charlie you have really well. He is skyrocketed in the rankings Like he was in the you know 100 ish range to he is on he's in the conversation for earning a fifth star maybe a little bit tough now that Skyline season is over, but that's someone who you know He is in the rankings in the in the 30s and has played really well They have Jonathan Cunningham who's on a we're just talking about this off-air powerhouse A powerhouse North Crowley team Wiley would be a tough pull, but it seems you know when you think of Petajon and his commitment to Ohio State and Madden Fair Emo and you know him his Recruitment may be coming down to what's going on between the Irish and the Trojans this weekend Wiley could be the most attainable remaining target left for the Longhorns at linebacker Yeah, definitely and watching his film like he's super athletic like you can see this guy move around The field he can cover in space. He can rush off the edge like everything you ask for that third linebacker to be He can be there and he has the size to you know kind of come in especially in roles early in graduate like can comes in the offseason He'll be ready about fall size wise, right? I feel like toward a vector we're getting ready, but mentally he's already ready to play like this is a tough kid who just gets it A lot of those Florida kids are there just they grew up that they grow up that way just a different mentality And so they come in ready to play ready to work and come on. I love his film man You see him body slamming people. It's like yeah, I need more of that. You know, I need more guys like that on defense But I love his film I get a Robert kill a brew vibe from Wiley Wiley ghost armwood high school in Tampa and it just kind of dawned on me I remember asking Sarc a couple weeks ago about Desmond Watson the 450 pounder at Florida He went to armwood and start talked about how he and jeff banks have been through that school Talk, you know what when they recruited Watson. I guess at Alabama They've been through there. So there's still some connections there For the the Longhorns as I try to get was he committed anywhere Justin Wiley I Don't think so Just been a long at little Tim was with Clemson I don't think so if you're a lot off the top of my head, yeah, I was looking through it I hadn't seen I can't I can't remember. Let's go to some of the there's there's flip efforts Amit going on for the Longhorns not just trying to flip others But others trying to flip them and you talked Justin a little bit about Florida There's let's let's kind of a big picture since we're very used to At least over the past ten years a little bit different now But in the past ten years we would always ask kids and kids would be sold on the idea of bringing Texas back Which means they were down and like I'm gonna be the class that gets them back up Florida's using that now Florida has that combined with proximity in an NIL pitch and they're using it on a number of people They they just flipped a not French not French But they just flipped the Florida state commit in the middle of us recording the show. They're trying to flip Jamie French You got to catch up with French. So, how do you feel about that recruitment now? And what are some of the things we've told people over on inside Texas about the Jamie French situation really quick with with with Pierre Louis flipping to Florida. I think that tremendously helps Texas with Myron Charles I think Texas felt really good about Myron Charles once once he left that Florida trip that he made last weekend I think Charles is solid with Texas. So that flip I think actually is a domino effect on Florida looking for someone else Which means they probably don't feel as good about Charles. I can say the same thing about Florida wide receiver Now they're all over Dallas Wilson the Oregon commit and they're starting to get momentum there Yeah, Jamie, I talked to Jamie actually twice after that trip to Florida And the biggest thing I took the takeaway from there was you know, I'd asked him You know, what's really what what is really, you know, kind of what are you thinking? He goes well, it's closer to home and my teammate Trim will Jones flip there and and I've got some seven on seven guys there And then he'd say but something doesn't feel right Something feels off and I noticed the last 48 hours the further away He's gotten from that trip to Gainesville the less momentum and smoke has become around him flipping That's not to say that's done Florida made a very very convincing pitch to Jamie French And it's certainly something that him and his family are talking about at this moment But honestly the further away we get from that trip and he doesn't flip the better I feel and we talked about this even before he did it the out-of-state commits when it comes to November You better hold on loosely because these guys that's when the in-state power start to try to pull tug on mom and dad Stay close to home a bring Florida back like you said bring bring the swamp action back down And out of that you know and he even noticed that Jamie that the DJ legway needed some needed some some some weapons out there And so I'm feeling a little bit better about French than I did 48 hours ago I think everyone was a little knotted on Sunday evening when all that stuff was kind of fluttering out But hey, Florida's not letting up and don't forget. He's he's being rep represented by By Drew Rosenhouse and his company and so that is another big factor But at the end of the day, I You know it gives me a Ryan Wingo vibe in the sense that Home might actually be Austin You know they talk about being close to home staying close to home home might actually be Austin And so at the end of the day, I'm feeling better and better about Jamie the further we get from that Gainesville trip One of the things about this is I think Florida has their last home game of the season this Saturday. They're hosting Ole Miss Didn't they have to go to Tallahassee which I think we were going through that the Florida schedule where we're counting the losses and they've They've put it themselves decently well. They have it'd be funny if they dethroned Ole Miss and made everything Kind of throw thrown into a lurch saw a comment from a cedaric and You know Justin you had mentioned Kevin when there was I there was one prediction for him to South Carolina. That's not a name. I'm totally Remembering him being involved with although proximity there, but are the game talks in on this one? Or is this kind of one prediction that you know of? No, actually when I went if you'll go back and read when I went and saw him a couple weeks ago South Carolina was the team that I thought you know what they they actually they have a good sales pitch and they actually have his attention Remember he was he sounded like Florida State could be the spot You know, he didn't he didn't feel like he had to be commit But you just knew the situation's going around Tallahassee that that could be the case and so with win I think it's buying in on they have probably the best defensive line in the SCC this year And I think when is very intrigued by that plus it's not as far away from home as some of these other places some of these other schools And so Kevin when if Shane Beamer brought out You know chef Ramsey and if they went to town talking about cooking and and bacon and grilling and all these things He's going to South Carolina. Whoever sells this kid the most on culinary experience in college is going to get this kid's signature I would not be surprised if it's South Carolina just because they have some good momentum. They've played well They might be what ten points away from an eight and two season not in one type season Give them credit right now And so I wouldn't be surprised if they're trending and remember before I went to Georgia USC was the one that was trending, but what's Right when I left I said this kid does not seem like he will ever go back to LA I mean, it sounded good. I know Texas liked him, but it didn't sound like he was gonna make that return trip It was South Carolina to me was gonna be the one that threatened FSU I still feel like they're the ones that are gonna threaten FSU Let's go into one more man We're hitting Florida pretty hard. I got a good question here from from Rich Money Cash one Seems like things have gone quiet on Hillson seemed like a lock a month ago I think he's taken a couple visits and you know You can feel as confident as you'd like in in this current era But coach you got to just keep recruiting these guys because they're gonna experience everything you have to make sure they experience everything from your program Yeah, look we go Sunday A little over two weeks away from now December 4th and then it's coming So like everybody's trying pulling out all the stuff trying to get these kids and they're they're trying to build on trying to lean on those relationships You're built mom that uncle coach whoever has contact with that kid has the most influence They're working that angle as much as they can and so you just got to kind of keep recruiting right and keep winning on the field to continue to show Hey, everything you're telling this kid. This is how we gonna use you. You know, this is how we perform. This is how we Build you up and develop you continue to do that on the field, but off the field man. Just continue to recruit That's all I think you can do at this point My kids gonna pick a school come December 4th. You just hope you're the team that he picks and just try to do your best That's one thing you really can't do at the end of the day Everybody's trying some of the same angles and you just got to make sure you got the best pitch honestly One of the good questions here Justin from David Rawls Do you think there'll be some surprise or quiet visitors this weekend and I'm thinking back to Will Gallagher our photographer. You see a lot of great pictures. He posts on inside Texas He he did some recruiting reporting For the what game was that Texas, Georgia the Georgia game saw Dorian brew there on the the sidelines Hey, that's evidence. He's there. We were able to report that thanks to Will Justin wait, we may not be able to name all names But this is a staff that works diligently, and they're trying to get anybody they can to come in at this last home Opportunity that they know they have David Excellent question. We appreciate it Excellent question both They will be quiet and they will be surprised there will be surprises There are a number of people that are expected on campus this weekend and I can't emphasize this enough when kids are committed to other schools and It leaks out that they could be potentially visiting a in-state school or in rival or an in-conference school or whatever Their laughs become hell Because the other school beats them completely down and they wind up hating the process There were a number of these guys that were coming in for the Texas, Georgia game And when it got out that they that they were doing that their committed schools beat them down And you might think well if they did that why would they stay commit because they committed to them early for a reason They stayed committed to him for a reason. They're locked into him for a reason These kids are trying to make the best decisions they can at 17 and 18 year olds So I'm gonna tell you again like I told the people at inside Texas the last few days the more quiet Some of these guys listen the news is gonna get out once they get on campus, buddy Everyone's gonna see them. We're gonna put we're gonna report it. We're gonna let everyone know The scope of this class and who's gonna be there? I'm gonna be there this weekend. So I'm telling you It's cool people are gonna know it But the sooner these names get out and I'll give you an example Michael for Susie Oklahoma has four days to talk him out of this now If this were at least a Thursday evening Thursday night I would have thought man that dude there is no change that dude is definitely coming We knew this was happening last weekend, but since stuff comes out you're essentially giving the the rival the playbook Hey, guess what? This guy's coming in so you got 72 hours to completely shut it down And they've done that before they did that to prospects against Texas and Georgia They will do that even more so with Texas and Kentucky at the end of the day guys Yes, there will be surprise visitors. Yes, there will be some that inside Texas does their very best to keep quiet Until we can't keep it quiet We want to make sure the viewers always in the fans always up to date But I'm telling you into the year two weeks from national signing day The more quiet some of this stuff happens the better. I can't emphasize that enough Should be interesting that's gonna be a one to track because you know When's Brent Villeville's gonna hire his offensive coordinator? When does that happen? How does he you know handle Bill Beatenball? You know, is that opportunity for playing time still there if they go and get some guys on the portal like they may need? Would they risk a freshman left or right tackle a lot of different stuff like that? So We have a note over on inside Texas about this Justin or a story even Justin you published at earlier this morning Gonna be taking he's gonna be seeing some in-state at least tentatively planning to see some in-state Rivals, so go to inside Texas. We got a link in the district in the description for y'all to come check out Come join us as we get closer and closer to signing day I got one question I want to go over before we can get get into maybe some of the other flip targets and guys from Texas who taking some visits And I think one of them Investigating are there rules around having recruits come to home playoff games. I looked it up The dead period in fact, I should just look it up right now There is something in the in the NCAA calendar. It's the dead period. It means you can't go Coaches can't go Off-campus and kids can't not visit schools. That's why Jim Harbaugh and even going back Arizona State Antonio Pierce and Herm Edwards got in trouble because they were hosting hosting kids during the dead period you can't have them up there, but looking at the calendar There is a quiet period from December 9th to December 22nd And the playoff games on campus are on the 21st A lot of these kids will have signed their letter of intent by then or if they're not even going to do that they will have signed their binding-ish financial aid agreement Yeah, that's all to say like you're probably unless some of these prospects are going to be like nope taking it to February You're probably not hosting battles Or recruiting you know recruits who are still torn On campus you're hosting guys who maybe are 2026s or 2027s You're hosting your commits If there are any guys who want to take it to the February signing day. Yeah, you can You can bring those guys in If they can come in on visits, but yeah, it is a what's called a quiet period Coach, I know you're beaten down with all these different terms during some NCAA certification and stuff like that But long story short They're able to go It's probably just an opportunity to bring the 2025s in that you're already signed Uh, but it could be a big opportunity for 26s and 27s to get those players on campus Rest, I mean, I'll look the dead period from then on is What the 20th December 23rd through January 5th So basically like there's a little opportunity for them to to visit throughout the month of of January Uh, but then, you know, February is locked down and then march we're talking 26s and junior days and stuff like that Um Coach, I'm going to throw this one your way. Is there any effect from Persucy on on turn time like what bringing one in Proclude texas from bringing, you know, the guy in the next class in Take this where you want to go with it I don't think whoever you recruit the class before 10 times is going to matter He's so self-confused sure of himself. It doesn't matter who you recruit Yeah, kid can go on any campus and be ready to play. Uh, I think he's probably the best Office along that like of 2026 physically and mentally, right? So nothing faces him I don't think they would affect him who whatsoever texas already has guys committed All right, he still likes texas. So we'll bring it in and one more guy was not going to affect him Um, it's all about competition for him He wants to compete compete against the best. So whoever you bring in wouldn't wouldn't affect him whatsoever Then justin you may have a little bit more insight on this one What are kids signing now that the nli is going away? They've always signed scholarship papers Now we've got flip one of those two letters nil to sign. What what are they going to be? Putting pen to paper too and scanning and pdf thing and send yeah That's what they're going. They're going to keep doing that. They're not actually never signing anything They're actually just sending a screenshot of their of their their visual signature or whatever in that Sign, you know, there is there's no there's no more facts machines. There's it's nothing like that Um, but now that there isn't a um, you know, there's not a corrective action I guess you would say on signing literally pen to paper You you have to sign stuff to get enrolled in college like that. That's you can't you can't you can't uh do that through the internet That's what they'll sign but I think even in the ceremony It's going to they're going to appear to sign something because yeah when you see recruits doing that They're not actually signing papers to go to college They're signing blank sheets of paper to make it look Like they're signing to join this the school or this class or whatnot They're not actually signing those pieces of paper of anything. Those things should have already been turned in before They're at that table doing all that. So I think you're still going to see the The standard signing kind of stuff, but it's going to be the same as scribbling on my son's second grade math test like it's It doesn't make anything valid. What makes it valid is when that kid arrives on campus He qualifies to get into the university. He signs his paperwork. He signs his lease to get into the dorm That's the stuff kids are kind of he's signing. Yeah, I want to I remember During when when it wasn't like I'm trying to think of the right way to to term this But like when it wasn't super cut and dry like he signed like for a lot That's what it is. There was no early signing period So these early enrollees you knew when they showed up And the the point of no return for lack of a better term Was when their butt was in a seat during the first class day So every all the people on the board were like, is he an you know, is he an economics 301? And it's like did he show up to his english class now with early signing? That's that's a little bit different But I remember that being the thing. Uh, it was hey, you know what? I'm in class. I'm learning I'm in a professor and at that point you're in you're enrolled But a lot has changed since unless your name was brew McCoy And you took four you were in four separate classes And then it opened pandora's box That will never be closed. It's so it's so funny that A lot of recruiting reporters No, the academic calendar dates for each like the 12th the 12th class day You know when the semester starts to get off. Yeah, it's it's funny Um, maybe one last question from a guy living rent free in ut Is kelyn while and this is a guy he brings up a guy we forgot to mention honestly Is kelyn wily currently higher on the board than nathaniel wosubotang heard it's between michigan and texas with him and noter dame Is out Justin Um, I believe wily is higher. I actually do. I believe that's one reason they brought him in sooner And also with ouusubotang. I think the relationship has been building but I don't think there's urgency in there because Correct me if i'm wrong charlie hasn't there been a couple other times When a wosubotang was supposed to be on campus and then something happened Exactly, wound up either taking a visit somewhere else or something got canceled Um, look just watch michigan with him because michigan feels really really confident with a wosubotang I think texas is just being thorough really if they miss on wily for whatever reason If they can't flip peta john if they can't get med mad and fairy emo back on campus soon. I think They're just doing their due diligence because they like that kid. He's a good prospect He really is and i'll tell you here's a sleeper here. Don't be surprised if calorado Gets a visit or gets something late or gets something in between now and early national signing day because They're making a real push with a handful of these img kids and I know that that he's in that mix But the latest i'd heard noter dame is out They've moved on which kind of tells me maybe they feel more confident with getting fair email They felt like kind of the soft leader since last summer to be honest with you And so to try to to to to summarize that I think boating is still on the board But I do think they view wily a little bit better and almost a little more gettable Thanks.
