AP News, I'm Ed Donohue, stocks finish the day mixed, the Dow was higher. Fed Chair Jerome Powell said in Washington today, persistently elevated inflation will likely delay any Fed interest rate cuts until later in the year. They were hoping for June. That opens the door to a period of higher for longer rates. House Speaker Mike Johnson is pushing for more U.S. aid for Ukraine and Israel. Despite Republican anger, here's the AP's Sagar McGahnie. Johnson's thin Republican majority is again sending the aid, which would force him to rely on Democrats to help pass it. Kentucky's Thomas Massey says he's had enough. "You need a speaker who is not doing everything Chuck Schumer wants." Republicans in the room during a private meeting this morning say Massey suggested Johnson should resign, or risk a vote to oust him. "I am not resigning and it is in my view an absurd notion." Johnson says he knew it would be a tough job. "I regard myself as a wartime speaker." And says he will move forward with votes to send aid to Ukraine, Israel and other allies, though his multi-part plan leaves out a key GOP priority, southern border security, Sagar McGahnie, Washington. The Supreme Court heard arguments over the charge of obstruction of an official proceeding, whether it can be used against more than 300 people who are charged in connection with the Capitol riot. It comes from a law passed in the aftermath of the Enron Financial scandal. Defendant Attorney Jeffrey Green told the justices it shouldn't be used. "Attempting to stop a vote count or something like that is a very different act than actually changing a document or altering a document." Former President Donald Trump is facing two charges from Special Counsel Jack Smith in Washington that could be knocked out with a favorable ruling from the Supreme Court. This is AP News. One of Copenhagen's oldest buildings has been destroyed by fire. "A fire has raged through one of Copenhagen's oldest buildings, causing the collapse of the iconic spire from the 17th century old stock exchange, as passersby rushed to help emergency services save priceless paintings and other valuables." The Danish culture minister says it's touching to see how many people lent their hand to save art treasures, one man jumping off his bicycle on his way to work to help in the effort. The fire began on Tuesday morning in the copper roof of the old stock exchange, or worse, spreading to much of the building and the roof, parts of which also collapsed and destroyed the building's interior.
