Wednesday nITe LIVE (11/20): Talking Texas vs. Kentucky, Keys to a Win, Team News
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to your Wednesday night live. I am with coach and J Wells. Welcome. We really appreciate you being here. This is our inside Texas YouTube channel sponsored and powered by inside Texas.com. Please join us over there. We are we are coming up on two very, very impactful weeks. And then we've got almost less than a month now. How many more days do we have until signing day, Justin? Not not enough. December 4th. I'm bad at bath. I'm gonna say 14. Yeah, maybe 15 counting today. It is it is heating up and it's Justin and I were just talking about off camera. It does not get any quieter anytime soon. So please check us out over there. There is loads of information. In fact, we we just had an article dropped by Justin not too long ago. You want to just you don't have to go into the article just but maybe give us a little insight as to what the folks might expect when they come to the site. Yeah, you got to come inside Texas. You know, we say that all the time, but we really mean it now because recruiting is in Charlie can vouch for this is upside down when it's two weeks, whether you're on a recruiting staff at a college or whether you're covering recruiting for a living. It's crazy. And so myron Charles was the latest update that we had a just a little while ago. Deacon's Vlamen out of Port Charlotte, Florida. On threes Keaton neighbor went down there to get a quick interview with him. He had visited Florida last weekend for an official visit. Started getting some Deontre Robinson vibes. A Texas commit last year that flipped the Florida late because he wanted to stay close to home. Myron's kind of there's some smoke around that as well. Texas, you know, very aware that they got a fight on their hands with the Gators. Then there was a report earlier today about myron taking another visit to Florida this weekend, which would only make Texas fans cringe even more. But after catching up with myron, it seems like that's not necessarily the case. Even rubble disagrees. Yeah, rubble's upset. Rubble. So, hold on. Long story short. Hey, come here. Shut up. He could be in Austin this weekend. My bulldog is adamant that this is a big deal. Come here. Come here. This is some high quality youtubin right now. We're getting somebody came to the front. And so that's going to happen. But he could be myron Charles could be in Austin this weekend. I don't want to hear it from me. I don't hear it. He could be in Austin this weekend or he could be in Florida. See, he doesn't like the Gators. Bulldogs and Gators don't get long. They really don't. Here's a prime example. And so, that's the latest at myron Charles. And I can promise you, you get an uninterrupted story on myron Charles when you come see us at inside texas.com. So, let's, I want to, I want to move a little bit because I'm getting on this dog. You can do your thing, man. So, this is a, I'm going to throw this question to you, coach. But I want to, I want to generalize it a little bit because obviously, there are several high impact players that are on everybody's list. Are they going to flip? How's it going to go? And as Justin just outlined, there is a lot of noise. And some noise is great. Some noise is bad. The question here is, how serious is Michael Fusuci noise? And we can talk about Michael a little bit. But I think the thing I want to illustrate here with this type of stuff is that a lot of it, that noise is noise, right? We've got it. We are, we are involved as much as we can, knowing what we know as much as we can. But some of that noise is, is noise. But I want to talk a little bit more about specifically, and coach, I understand this is hard. I want you to get into the mind of a high school athlete for a second. And they're sitting there, they've, they've committed to their school. They go, they play their senior season. And then they're starting to hear a lot of things from some different schools. What is your experience with that? How do the kids handle that? What is going on in their minds with that? Because I imagine that can be a pretty stressful experience. It can be stressful. I mean, it's something you can kind of want and beg for. Like you want offers, you want all your attention. Then when you get a ton of them and you got to choose a school, you can get frustrated and get, you know, trust me, kids, they don't know what to do. They're talking to parents and talking to friends, what should I do? But honestly, I wouldn't call it barge remorse. You just want to be sure, right? When it gets close to sign a day, now you're thinking, okay, I'm really about to sign this paper. Like, I'm really going to be here. I'll do, I see myself living here. Do I like the people on team? Am I going to be hanging out with those guys? Like, did I vibe with it when I went on a visit, right? And that's what this last minute visit is like, right? You got signed a day with a little over two weeks away. These visits are real. It's not, it's not for fun. Because you're really trying to say, do I vibe, go once they committed to this school, I've been committed to for a while, or do I really want to go see what else is out there, right? Your eyes always standing at the grass and the greener on the other side. And if you get a vibe and get a feeling that, hey, I do like this school, right? All the things that have been telling me this long, I see it. Don't want to go play for a winner. Somebody's actually going to be in a playoffs. Like, do they have longevity over here? You know, is this coach competing longer? Is this coach really going to get fired? Like, it's a lot. Yeah. With a kid's mind, it has been a teenager, right? And so, so much goes into it. And really, they're just unsure. But once you put pen to paper, well, I guess that's it. We got the transfer portable still, like, once you put pen to paper, that's it. And so they're just kind of, it's a lot of things are going on right now. And they're looking at age. Yeah, no, that's, that's the important part, right? It's a hard time making decisions at our age. Yeah, 17, 18 year old with a gigantic decision on his shoulder. And for Nicholas in the coverage, just let him know the Michael for Susie noise. There's some seriousness to it. He's supposed to be at he's expected at Texas this weekend. He's expected in college station next weekend. But also understand this kid loves Oklahoma win or lose. He really loves Bill Beatenball. That's why he chose him. And I think that it's going to be harder to flip this kid than people understand. And to coach his point, these are 17, 18 year old kids trying to make gigantic life decisions. Arches, archtorns is asking does for Susie expect to start as a freshman, a la kelvin banks. He expects to play immediately. Right. He doesn't have to start, but he wants to play immediately. In Oklahoma, that's a lot more inviting than it is in Austin, which was one of the reasons he picked Oklahoma. Yeah, absolutely. And I think let's talk a little bit too. You were talking about the process a little bit there, Coach. If we were looking at our schedule, this is our final regular season home game, right? This will be the last home game before signing day. How important is this weekend for getting players in and getting that final pitch in? It's important because you get the kind of last word, right? Especially the opposing team that you're he's committed to or anybody's committed to does have another home game, right? And they don't have a playoff game. You can't host them at all. So this is the last time you get to see a game day atmosphere, right? Unless you want to travel on the road and go see that team play like some Georgia players who's there. But this is the last chance you'll get to see that a game environment, the crowd, like the smell of it all in the air, the atmosphere, all of it. See how the coach is actually a coach, right? And see the players performing. It does a lot when you can go to a home game, because you see, you get the energy, you get to feel all of that, the players are building the coaches and the fans. And so it's very important to go to that last home game, because I've seen some kids go there, even when Texas played Kansas back in 2016, I mean, we're going to the game to Kwan Graham, he was like, Texas is lit, right? And it was Kansas. It was the last home game in the cold, but he enjoyed the environment. So they can do a lot for a kid going on a visit. What are the, what are the, do we know the rules about having visits during the playoffs? Obviously, it may not necessarily be for this cycle, but what are, what are the rules on that, do we know? I think for the 26 and 27 kids, because 25 kids, even the playoffs, they already be signed. So yeah, right? Yeah, the younger ones could go on campus and it makes an impact for those coming up in the next class and next cycles. Texas could, you know, theoretically host a playoff game, a home playoff game. That would be more littered with 2026 and 2027 recruits compared to 2025s, because that class, which you're probably going to have all, if I'm committed and signed to Texas, I'm going to a home playoff game. Oh, sure. You're probably going to host all of your signees, but any other recruits are going to be your top of the line 2026 is top of the line 2027s. And you know what, if Texas can host a playoff game, it's good coaching. I've never seen this, like a team hosting a playoff game that recruiting implications are unknown. That to me, I think it could be huge. Sure. Sure. I mean, on the surface alone, you're obviously you're hosting a very important game. These kids are getting a highly coveted seat. Let's be frank here. They're getting to go see a cool game, obviously. But I think it's what I know Eric was talking about, and this is something that Justin and both you as well, coach have been talking about just the impact of demonstrating value, right? You're in the playoffs. You're demonstrating the value of the program. It's not coach speak. It's not a soft pitch. It's show and not tell. And I think that's a really massive difference when you're presenting your case to some of these kids. I want to, before we move on a little bit, I want to hear some from someone we haven't heard from in a little while. And I want to give everybody at home 90 seconds of cooking. What's up, y'all, here to tell y'all about prize picks. And I got to say, when your sports junkies like us, you got to make the games interesting every now and then. And there's no better way to make games interesting with prize picks. Daily fantasy made easy. It is so much fun to get involved in this. You got the maxion. You got the Thursday night game. You got the Friday night big 10 game. And you got all the action on Saturday. You can go into any different sport or e sport and find a square to make. It's Wednesday. You know, there's some weeknight football on. So make sure you head to prize picks quick withdrawals, easy gameplay, and an enormous selection of players and stat types are what make prize picks the number one daily fantasy sports app. It's really easy. You can use apple pay or quick and easy deposits into your account all during football, basketball, hockey, or if there is an e sport season, e sport season as well. So y'all know, I have some season long ones going looking good on the Quinn viewers one. We'll see what happens with the Connor Weidman one, but to try to get in on the similar type of action, make sure you go to prize picks, get a guaranteed $50 once you play $5 in lineups, use promo code inside Texas. That's how you get $50 once you play $5 in lineups, use prize picks, use that code inside Texas. It is daily fantasy sports made easy. One of the one of the topics that I'm really hesitant to discuss right now, but it's it is it is at the forefront of media. And it's the interesting thing is that it is a media designed topic. And that is the rankings. If you you have so many shows that are evaluating the rankings should Indiana be ranked as high as they are? Should Texas be as ranked as high as they are because of strength of schedule or or who they played all of these things and they're they're massively important after the season. But up until this point there, I don't find them all that important at all, frankly, because you do have a conference championship game. Once you're in that conference championship game, everything gets sorted out. Of course, especially if you win. However, I'm curious your thoughts on this coach because because you have a team like Indiana, because you have a team like Texas, and these are, I think, good junks to positions because obviously Indiana is not playing with the brand on their helmet that Texas is. And we talk about brand bias a lot. And if you listen to the media, they will they will laud Indiana's win over Michigan, and they will downplay Texas's win over Michigan. And again, this is the brand bias on this. But if you are in a situation, how do you justify ranking a team as high as they have without the strength of schedule that other teams have had? Are we putting too much emphasis on the strength of schedule, or should we really be evaluating this purely from the eyeball test? I think it matters which logo you are, because the schedule, all people I want to talk about with certain teams, and then other things, they kind of discount it, right? It's like, my take is it shouldn't matter. Like, who's going to schedule? Who's going to schedule? Who's going to schedule? So you play Indiana should be, in my opinion, be ranked hard. They're undefeated. They go out and beat Ohio State, maybe they get a little more respect than they've gotten, right, throughout the season, but they're undefeated. For a reason, it doesn't matter who's on their schedule. Those guys got scholarship players just like your real team. They got holiday-paid coaches that they face. So to me, I hear some brand bias, but we're on a good side of it, to be honest with you, right? But it's really tough. It's really tough, because how do you, how do you go back and take your teammate? We're good, but, and I'm sorry, we got the IU logo on side of our helmet. Nobody really takes us as serious as others, right? You can use it as motivation, and I know their coach will. He'll tell everybody to kind of Google him, but as he said before, but, yeah, the strength of schedule to me, it matters when it comes to talking about match-ups. When you get ready to face a team on Saturday, right, when you're trying to gauge who's better, but the ranking, they should throw that out the window, right? Because you want to play who you can play. And if you take care of business on Saturday, you should be ranked hard, and other things who have taken losses. I feel like when we're seeing the rankings, whether it's the college football rankings, the AP rankings, whatever it is, I feel like we're seeing an internal document. We're seeing something meant for a small group of people that are using this as an internal document that they can evaluate the progress of the season. They're thinking about where a team should be ranked at the end of the year, but we put so much emphasis on it in week seven and week eight when, in fact, it's really valuable after week 12, right, or after week 14, as hence we are right now. So I'm curious, Justin, what is your take on this? How do you feel about this? Obviously, the rankings are what drive a lot of discussion in sports media. It gives us something to talk about right here, but I'm just curious, is this something that is overplayed? It might seem overplayed to the layperson, but to the true fan, this is what you asked for. The AP was naming the two top teams for the national championship every year, and that was fine for what 100 years, and then the business got bigger, and the money got bigger, and people started getting left out, and so they thought, "Well, man, we got to put together a BCS. We got to make this computerized. We're going to do it data-driven with analysts on straight this schedule and road margin and how much you beat a team by and stuff like that, but you had teams running up the scores on other guys." Then that wasn't enough, because the third place team was getting screwed, and everyone was complaining about that, so they decided to have a four-team playoff, which is great. That's just going to make the argument bigger, because now it's the arguments who's the fifth team, who's the one that was left out. So when they added it to 12, now we're having this debate. To me, this is all about money, and it's a gigantic money grab, because you've got so many more teams now that are available to potentially make a big season, to have a big season which drives season tickets, which drives merchandise, which drives people to the stadium. It's a big, big, it's fun for me, because I don't think anybody has the answers. I like all the back and forth. I think it's funny that Indiana, one of their strengths, they had two key wins, Washington and Michigan. But on Texas side, they don't get credit for the Michigan win. Eric is in Tucky Vanderbilt. I think that's funny, but that's where the human element will always be involved. These are human eyes watching what we watch, getting gathering their own opinions, and they figure, well, if we get enough smart people that know enough about the sport, theoretically, they can come up with the best system. Well, guess what? You did. You came up with a bigger argument is what they've essentially done. It's gone from a small one to a larger one, and that sells, that sells on ESPN, that sells on Inside Texas, that sells everywhere. And so, ultimately, no one knows the best way to do this yet. I think they're still figuring it out. She thinks that way too. And so at the end of the day, it's just silly, because strength and schedule should matter, but what strength, like at the beginning of the year, at the end of the year, well, this team was hurt. Well, this team wasn't hurt. There's so many factors there. Charlie's right. The brand is going to matter, because what essentially sells this thing are going to be the big brands. America loves the underdog. So if Indiana beats Ohio State and they get a chance to get in this thing and make a run, that's going to be a great story, but it's not going to sell out. Ohio State in Texas is going to sell out. Oregon in Miami, that would sell out. And so, the have-nots kind of have, they're kind of against the eight ball in a sense where they have to make it convincing on the field. Indiana's going to have that shot now. Same thing for Texas. They still have to be convincing in beating Kentucky and then going to college station. But at the end of the day, nobody really knows. We do an eye test based on human response. What we think is the best group of players, best group of teams. I personally think SMU is a little better than a lot of these teams that are in the 12 right now. I've seen UNLV picked up a 24th ranking in this thing this week. There are teams that are climbing in there that may be better than others. They have BYU behind SMU and they want it head to head. Explain that to me. They don't know as much as they don't know anything like we don't know anything. The only thing they do know is we can prove it on the field. They're just trying to line it up the best way they possibly can. I love the talk of it because it's fun. It keeps things going. It keeps teams and rivals kind of going at each other because honestly, Texas A&M could be a de facto spot in the SEC Championship game. That to me is better talked than actual rankings. Coach, this is a question. Is 12 teams too much? I knew that was going to come up. Yes. Coach, take yourself off mute. You're giving us knowledge. I don't know about being too much because it really opens up the chance for the group of five teams to get in. I think if it was eight, it would be hard for those of you guys to get in because you just want to take the top 18 strong power for us. For that reason, I like to build teams, but yeah, I don't know. They just got to figure this out and do it. I can't say the right way because I don't know what right. I don't think nobody does, but eight teams, somebody would get left out and you'll still have a gripe in the argument. So yeah, what do you do? I'll give you two guys this question. This is good from V Brown. Do you guys think 78 teams is too much for basketball in March Madness and NCAA tournament? Yes or no? What's the total? What's the total Division One out? How many Division One basketball teams are there? The answer is no. Okay, the answer is no. Sorry. That's too many. If you look at the bro leagues, you're averaging with the exception of baseball at about 50 percent. And basketball's fallen off a cliff since the one in donors have kind of taken over and a lot of the development is going to either the G League or it's what's happening in the NBA for the first two or three seasons of those players. The whole point was we all thought March Madness was perfect for what it was. Certainly a lot of teams, everybody knew what they had to do to get in there, but you had a couple people gripe. You had a couple teams feel like they were getting left out, not inclusive. And then what happens? Coach Dubb goes dark and we could potentially have 77, 78 teams in a tournament. That to me makes it too much is too much. Like, you know, they say the term less is more. That's, I believe that in life less is more. There doesn't necessarily need to be 70, 18s in a final season basketball tournament. And I don't think they need 12 in a college football. I think this year is unique because I don't think there's one dominant team in college football. I think there's about five or six really good teams. And this playoff is going to be a good example of how they're going to have to play it out on the field. But 12, I feel like 12, and I feel like they're going to stay with 12 at least for the the immediate future. That still feels a little too much because we're still having the griping. What about the 13? What about the first four that are out? Which that adds to the conversation about rankings, which adds to the whole pot of cash. So let's let's move on a little bit to Mr. Mr. five one twos question. Do you think he says Campbell and Banks will go in the first round? Are you booking that? Are you talking about Cam Williams? Maybe he's not going in the first round of anything. No. You might be talking about Cam Williams. I think it tackles the book. Yeah. If he's talking about Cam, all the monies he's going for look, he has all the measurables. He's had all these had those measures of leaving Duncanville High School. I everybody knew he had the NFL prototype body from DNA, right? Size and everything. So this playoff run, this playoff stretch will be very important for him going first round. But a lot of teams, you know, they draft projects, people who have work to go, because they feel like they can develop and take him over and say, hey, he has everything we want and covet. We can teach him how to play whatever we want him to play, right? Guard, tackle, whatever at the next level. So size wise, he could go late first round, but this is going to be an important stress to you last year games because when you get in the playoffs, you're facing good teams. If you don't perform as well, then maybe people maybe knock you down on the on the draft board, but he can go first round, like off size and vegetables along. So. What let's transition over a little bit now to this week's opponent, we've got Kentucky, Mark Stoops led team. They are an interesting statistic I saw today is this is the furthest west that Kentucky will have played a football game. Isn't that nuts? Yeah, it's crazy. And the last time in 1951 in Austin, yeah, exactly. The last time they went to this far west was in Austin. So with that in mind, I'm sure that's really going to have a lot of relevance on this breakdown coach. What are some elements of Kentucky's defense that give you concern? How can they give us trouble? Well, before the season, I don't know how they had two NFL or maybe three NFL DBs who are really good. They have a front four or front three they really can get out to have you accompanied by a great coach who runs a lot of Tampa too, which most people love is called three high three high safety defense, which is Tampa too. They run a ton of that and they give pressure. So I guess I'm going to say sucks nemesis, but everybody loves to run that defense against him and Mark Stoops is really, really good at doing it. So if you can put pressure on a quarterback and those guys who can live up there secondary and the secondary can live up to their NFL potential, then they can be a scary defense. We saw how they played Georgia. We saw how they played Ole Miss. Yeah, when they play up to their level of their ranked game and names, like they can really get after you on defense. Offensively not so much, but on defense, they have a chance to kind of keep them in the game if they don't turn the ball over on offense. You'd be shocked at how many players in the NFL played defense at Kentucky. Yeah, like every year they got two or three guys getting drafted the last six or seven years, man. They've got some athletes on that side of the ball. It's a basketball school, but they've got real athletes playing football. Yeah. And let's not forget Dion Walker as well. I mean, really good defensive lineman kind of making his way back into this. And again, this is a contract here for him. This is a contract game for a lot of those players you were just describing, Justin. This is a great opportunity for them to put on some tape against a very good offensive line. I'm curious, I'm curious what you think about this coach, because of our next two games, obviously Kentucky and A&M. How would you, the question here is are Kentucky and A&M's defenses? That's a good question. What are the comps there, coach? I would say Kentucky lines up and they don't do a lot of movement. They don't try to confuse their lineup. They are who they are because they got big guys in front and they can do their job. They made the scouts up in the secondary, but A&M does a they play a total different defense. I almost call like a NFL star defense, but they won't give you the same look over and over. They consistently bring pressure. You just don't know where it's coming from. They put a lot of pressure on their safes where Kentucky, they don't want to get beat deep. They do let their corners play on an island some, but and it was more of a cover zero cover one team. Why they put their guys on the island all day long, right? You just got to find out your best matchup against them and they bring consistent pressure. So I wouldn't say they're the same, because Kentucky is almost safe and they're kind of playing the base defense. They don't move around a lot and it shows you so much. Like you don't know who they show five sticks at the line. You got to figure out who's coming, right? They're dropping or they rushing a quarterback who has demanded the zone. There's so much to figure out. So Kentucky is a little easier to read. Great answer. What are your, what are your thoughts on this? Because UT parking is coming in who's with his take here. Our quick passing game actually matches up well against Kentucky. Also, I don't think Kentucky can score touchdowns on our D. He's taking 27 Kentucky 9, which is very close to my pick. It's very close to mine. Yeah, that's pretty solid. Really, really good work there. So just to let you know, they have Kentucky, I do not believe has scored more than 20 points pretty much this year. They've stayed in that range pretty tight. This is obviously going to be one of the best defenses they face. If not, they are very. Kentucky is incredibly generous when it comes to giving the other team the ball. They have done that. It seems like 13 times in the last five games there have been turnovers 22 in total. So a lot like some of the challenges that we had last week with Arkansas who could not protect the ball all that well. Kentucky has a similar issue going into this. So especially with that nine points UT parking, I'm definitely on board with that. I have a hard time seeing them have sustained drives. But with all of that, let's talk about our offense a little bit. Our defense is clearly the thing holding this team down. It's the identity of this program right now. We have had the opportunity over the last three years to see Quinn, yours play some all world football. And he's done it in spurts that I mean, I think about his his first game against Alabama prior to getting hurt. I mean, you looked at that kid and you were like, my God, this is this is going to be an amazing an amazing period of time. He's been up and down. There's been some injuries. There's the certainly the internet has their opinions on young Quinn. What do we what do we want to see? What are we expecting to see? I think those those may not be the same thing. So I'll put this to you first, Justin. The first is the want. What do you want to see this week? I actually want to see more of the same. I know some fans are going to think I'm crazy, but you know, with Quinn, he is really, really knocked off the turnovers. And I think, you know, Sarke even talked about that after the game against Arkansas, you know, the two Oh turnover margin was was huge, especially when those interceptions when those turnovers happened. Quinn's protecting the football. Does he get self sacked a few times? Yeah, he really does. But at the same time, he's not turning it over. He's not throwing it into triple coverage. He's not. And those were mistakes we kind of saw in his first year and a little bit of a second year. You're right. We've seen him growing over the last three years. I just want to see him continue to protect the ball. And I've said this forever, especially after Georgia, if Texas can continue to run the football, Quinn years will be just fine. That's the best friend you could possibly have, because these defenses are not being honest. They really aren't. I asked Matthew Golden. What do you think about this three, this three safety by over type defense and everybody's playing? He's like, I hate it. Because we can't go vertical. We can't go deep. You know, they know what they're doing with when they're playing Texas within all these weapons and toys that Quinn has. And so I wanted to continue to play a clean game. Actually, I think he's better when he pops somebody. You know, he ran on fourth and two to kind of clench to kind of assure the victory and betful. And when he does that, I've noticed that a friend bring that up to me when he does that, he is a different quarterback. So once he gets that first lick in the game, it's almost like it starts going like he's like he's riding a bike. It's just natural. And so I just want to see him maintain a clean game. I want to make sure he keeps those turnovers to a bare minimum, because I think they realize now this is a defensive identity for this program. And I think they realize if you just hang on to the ball, and this goes into that game manager category, which some people for whatever reason think that's a negative, I think every quarterback is a game manager, whether he's Peyton Manning or or Jeff George, he's a game manager at some stage. I think the more Quinn does that, that's the more chances Texas is going to win because that defense is not going to give up many points. They may give up a few drives. They may give up a little bit of cushion when they when they will on the field for 12 minutes of the third quarter against Arkansas. But ultimately that defense is going to keep you in the game. And if Quinn doesn't turn the ball over, Texas chances of winning just skyrocket. So coach that Justin very clearly outlined. And I think I agree with all of it. What we want to see. Why do you expect to see? Oh, let her in. Look, she's got to try to join to get on camera right now. What do we what do we know what we want to see? What do we expect to see, coach? I think you see much of the same. We saw versus Florida. Okay, versus Vandy versus Arkansas Arkansas, short passes, quick screens, bubble screens, and the occasional deep shot. If you want to call the intermediate or deep shot, and then try to establish the run game. I think that's what we'll see. I don't think I don't think it's not going to be old. When we go to the third ball, 40 times a game, we're trying to make every play, right? You're not going. I don't think you ever see that again. This is a ball game. Yeah, there's nothing wrong being a game manager, either being a bus driver, like, Hey, bus drivers get everybody to the school safe. And it's a man, right? And so I think you'll see that Saturday. Let your athletes work in space, get through the ball and let them do the rest. I think that's what you're going to see. YouTube parking. I want to bring this up because this is this is something that's that has been a topic of conversation. Certainly amongst Paul and Ian, and Ian, put an article out this Monday about this very topic. But Quinn seems to throw better on the run. You think starts, SARC starts moving the pocket some. Personally, I'd like to see some some PA waggles out of the pistol and lots of mesh. I want to talk a little bit of scheme with you here, coach, in terms of what that looks like. But there it is well documented that you put Quinn yours in the pocket and give him time. He's very good. You give him put him on the run off platform. He's all world. That is where he excels is throwing off platform, throwing off schedule in some cases. He's he's excellent at it. Borderline elite. Do you think that that SARC starts to at this phase three years in y'all starts to adjust the play calling a little bit to make that more of an option for Quinn? I'll say this and sorry to mention this on college game day. Like the offense is the offense, right? If he's not creating any new plays, not doing anything, it's really just maybe given a different look. He's not a mesh concept type of coach to install it. Like he doesn't run that. That's not an offense. Yeah, it's pro style. You don't see a bunch of QB waggles and bootlecs because why? They have an inventor bill, right? Yeah. But it's the miracle. As soon as he turned around, the guy was in his face. All right, so it hasn't been successful. I don't think that's why it's why you don't see it as much. The percentages are low when they run those type of plays. So stick to what you do. Don't go try to create anything new, especially if you haven't performed during practice of time and then you get on the field on Saturday, it does not look well, right? And so I don't think you'll see much more that it may be some small concepts, but not a lot. It's going to change what the offense is. One thing that should remain consistent in your life is is who you choose for a realtor. So let's hear about Laura Baker. Hi, I want to tell you about Laura Baker. As we are heading toward the end of this, I'm just curious and I want to give back to recruiting really quickly here, Justin, because we were, I think it provides some insight to the fan that certainly is viewing this video, certainly that is a subscriber at InsideTexas.com. People that are committed to this and this is something they're really engaged in. You and I were talking at the top of the show or even before we started here about just the network. As much as you feel comfortable, I mean, you guys are talking to everybody when it comes through this. And I'm just curious if you can give us a little bit of insight. I mean, you had nine phone calls today. I mean, who are you talking to? Is that coaches? Is that players? And I don't want obviously specific names, but just letting people know the depth of the work. Well, first of all, it takes a village. It really does. And that's why I love InsideTexas, because I've got Eric, and I've got Charlie, and I've got Joe, and I've got Ian Boyd helping me with emails. And it takes everyone. It really does take a village because you want to cover every recruited, every angle. If you only have, I call it the triangle. If you get the player, parent, and coach, you're going to own that recruitment. If you only get one or two, you might be behind. And so you just want to put out as many feelers as possible. I can remember with the archmanding recruitment, Eric and I, we may have had double digit sources that were separate from each other, just on that one kid, because of the importance of it, just because you want to be thorough, just because you never know what you could hear, what you could learn, what you could find out. Because honestly, that's what the fans want, and they deserve. If they're a paying customer, we need to bust our book to try to get them the best information possible. And I feel like we do that every day. And that's why you wake up to nine phone calls. That's a good thing. If my phone wasn't ringing, that would be bad. And you're talking to a myriad of people from players. I've had players call me on the way to school. I've had parents call me in the mornings. College coaches from different colleges are calling recruiting staffers are calling coaches from high schools. I talked to two of those yesterday on targets that Texas is looking at getting. And so it takes a village and then on three, on three, it really is a tremendous network. There are a lot of good guys working in this beat. I mean, unbelievable guys that help us on a regular basis. And I'm so grateful for the team at on three, because they really do. There really is the best talent collected in the country, in my opinion, that covers this on a regular basis. So what you do is you just make sure. And if you don't know for sure, you make damn sure you contact everybody. You build these, and this doesn't start this week. They didn't start this morning. This process starts three years before. When you start noticing the best freshmen, when they start making trips to sophomores, when they get official offers as juniors, and then when they get ready to make decisions as seniors, you got to be with them that whole way, because the two weeks before signing day is when that information is going to be the most valuable. So it's a lot like farming. You got to put out a lot of stuff. You got to water these plants. You got to get everything taken care of, because when it comes to harvest, our biggest time of the year is this two-week window right before early national signing day. We got to be able to eat this food. We got to be able to pick these plants. We got to be able to put these flowers in a boss and get them nice and pretty. The only way you do that is making sure. And the only way you do that is contacting fans. I mean, friends, parents, there's so many people involved. And so at the end of the day, I think it's just, it takes a team effort. Not one dude can do it. If anyone tries to act like they're a one-man band, they will run into a wall. It's not going to work that way. You really do need different sources. I can tell you, I would know something about recruitment. And Coach Williams would know a contact there that would have a better insight than I would have. Like, that's immeasurable. That's why he brings value to inside Texas. That's why it's so great that we, what we do and how we do it. Eric and I have been doing it for a long time together. And so at the end of the day, it just means being thorough. It means don't put your head on the pillow at night until you get the info. You don't go to bed until you get the information, until you get what you need. And these are all two weeks is the best way to do that. How much has changed? And this is, I'll throw this out there because Ryan's question, this is a question from Ryan Nelson. Grayson High School has been the best program in Georgia over the last 15 years. Freak Show after Freak Show comes out of the high school every year. What, what are we thinking in terms of, and I want to talk specifically about players obviously, but what, how has your world changed? How has Texas's world changed? Knowing that we were going into the SEC. How much, how much has our recruiting landscape changed? It's a question I'm going to put over to you, Coach. Are you on mute again? Probably. I mean, we need to help our YouTube in game here. Yeah, definitely. Texas players have always loved Texas. It didn't matter the conference area. When they were in a big 12, they still love Texas. The plan at SEC, you hear all the chatter about plan and SEC is the closest thing to the NFL and NFL values that conference more than every other conference. I think it puts more value on Texas, right? You love Texas, but now they're planning the SEC. It matters because they get to play the school that you grew up loving and then they're in the conference that gets the most value or looked at the most by the NFL. So it does a lot when it comes to recruiting because most kids say, "Hey, I want to play an SEC. I want to play against the Alabama's. I want to play against the Georgia's, the Florida's, and everybody else. I want to be on Primetime TV." You know, you're playing in the big 12, just in times you might be on Fox Sports 1 or, you know, another channel, right? Plan against, I don't know, just say Kansas State of West Virginia. It wasn't as exciting up a game for SEC every week. There's a challenge. And so kids want to be a part of that. They want to be a part of that traditional history of playing an SEC for the schools that they love. I want to just really quickly before we go into this. And again, we've got a lot of content, obviously Justin and Ian and I will be greeting you tomorrow morning over our daily amphetamines. And we've also going to have our round table and inside the program later on this week. But how I know that coach has said that this is probably the most important game of the season. It's a really good coach talk. How much are they prepping for A&M coached up? They've been prepping for A&M for a few weeks. I'll tell you this, in the spring, and you know who you're playing the next year, every offensive and defensive room has a projected depth chart up on the board or going around the room, right? So you're scouting your preparing. The more info and data you get week to week, you're scouting them. Okay, what are they doing this week? What are they doing this week? What are they doing this week and this week? Can you add on? Because that's how you make a game plan, right? And then you use everything you've gained from even a year ago to the current season of film, data, everything you can find on a team. So they've been preparing. They may have been working on it as a team in practice and things of that nature. But the coaches, the support staff, has been preparing for A&M for a long time. You just do, you have to be a head. And so, you know, that's the only way you can, you know, be the team and create a script like Sartre does. The first 20 plays, we call them magical. You can't just view that in just one week. You've got to have some stuff prepared for that you've been gaining in gathering all year, if you ask me. And that's how we did that. Okay, so every program is the same, but that's how we did at UNLV. You can control them with a stigma for that being prepared. We'd rather be over prepared to under prepare. We've got over close to 700 people watching us on Twitter right now. We really appreciate you being there. If you're watching it on an individual feed, please go ahead and subscribe to that feed. But come over here to YouTube and like and subscribe. We've got one of our colleagues, Ian Boyd. He, I don't know if I should say this, he has 24 children. And we really need to get him a minivan. And as you guys know, it is the holiday season. It's Honda holiday season. And Ian is a Toyota Thon guy. So there's a lot of challenges that he's facing.
