[Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] Hello everyone and welcome into another edition of the GSMC College Football Podcast brought to you by the GSMC Sports Network. I'm your host as always Tommy Berzi. It is Wednesday, November 13th around here, and we have a great show for you today. We're going to start talking about those CFP rankings that came out yesterday. We'll break down the rankings, we'll break down the bracket in. I'll give a couple of takeaways from the first couple of weeks of the way the committee seems to be thinking at least as of right now. Then we'll get into a little bit of a big game breakdown pit in Clemson, a huge game in the ACC, a downright elimination game in that conference. We'll break it down on today's show. Then we'll get into the Upset Alert previews in the SEC. I wanted to get into Texas at Arkansas as well as LSU heading over to Florida. Both teams really trying to get that win and if they don't, I think both of them are out of the CFP race. Then we'll get into the Upset Alerts all around the country. We have Notre Dame, SMU, Oregon, and a couple others that are definitely in a little bit of a precarious spot going into this week, and then we'll finish it off. We'll get into some questions as we head into this week, including are there a number of teams that can get knocked out of the CFP race this year and what are those teams to be watching for this week? But before we jump in, I do want to remind you all we get tons of questions and comments throughout the show. And the best way for you all to get your question on the screen, we now have fun back and forth here, is to use that super chat at the bottom of the chat on the sports network page. There is a dollar sign, click that at any question, comment you'd like. It'll pop up on the screen and we can have fun back and forth here. Definitely want this to be as interactive as possible, especially as we have to deal with all the tiebreakers and all the craziness that is about to come over the next couple of weeks. But let's go ahead and jump into these rankings because the rankings came out yesterday and there are some things that I don't necessarily love. There are some things that I do love. So we'll break it down real quickly here. And we'll start with this first 13 team, 25 to 13, right before you get into the playoff field and Tulane makes their appearance into the field. And I think that gives you an idea of exactly the pecking order in the G5. It is going to be Boise State likely. I think Army being this low is pretty tough for them. I think it does leave the door open for a 12 and one Boise State to get in over a 13 though army. Now, maybe the 13 though army would just take Notre Dame spot. So maybe both of them would get in. But it is a tough spot for Army to be in. If they climbed up to maybe 21 20, I think I'd feel a little bit better. But definitely in a precarious position for Army to be in, but Tulane's right there. So I think it's telling you that Boise State goes 12 and one therein. If Army goes maybe even 12 and one and Boise State loses another, maybe therein from the American. If Tulane wins out and wins the American, they're probably in the 11 and 2. So a little bit of craziness around the G5. But I think this gives us a good idea of what the pecking order is. It's going to be one of those three teams if I had to imagine at the end of the day. Missouri wins and stays in. They do have a ranked matchup now this upcoming weekend against South Carolina going to be a huge one and definitely one that they badly need to win. I've said time and again that I think even if they win out, they're probably not in a good position. But at the end of the day, they do play South Carolina who probably should be flipped with LSU. But that's neither here nor there. It's a very interesting system they got going on in that room. But Washington State keeps that dream alive at 18. They're still alive, but I wouldn't expect much here. I think about a million things have to happen, frankly. I think they'd probably go with a three-law South Carolina before they go with a one-loss Washington State. I'll be totally honest and we'll see what happens with that. But I still think even at eight, even, you know, six spots out of the field, I wouldn't feel great about Washington making that run. Kansas State stays above Colorado. I think that makes sense. Doesn't necessarily matter. As we've talked about, probably going to be whoever wins that big 12 title. That makes it into it. So not necessarily super concerned about where all these teams stack up. The big one question is, Kansas State Colorado, let's say they go on and win the conference and Boise State continues on winning. Do they get that four spot? Instead of a big 12 champion, does Boise State get it? I'd be a little bit surprised. I think they're probably going to tip the scales just enough to give it to the champion of that conference if it is a Colorado or if it is a Kansas State. But definitely something to watch as they're still below Boise State who is in the field. They're just ranked number 13 as of right now. SMU being this low is a little crazy to me. I'll be totally honest. I thought this was a little bit low for my taste. I think they're a team that is still firmly in a pretty good position. As you head into the back end of the ACC, I think Miami being above them, being in the top 10 is a little wild because when you look at the two resumes, very similar. But the one loss for SMU is much better than the one loss for Miami. So it's a battle back and forth. I'm not necessarily freaking out over it by any means. I think I would still like Miami to win the conference. So not necessarily angry that they're the top team, but definitely something that I probably would have flipped that just a little bit, if I'm being totally honest. So those are kind of the big takeaways from the bottom of the party. Clemson's still very much in the hunt if they win this weekend. You also have Louisville right there right on top of them. So definitely a team to watch. They have an interesting one this weekend. So we'll keep you up to date with all of those. But definitely a lot of these teams right here are probably going to fall out this weekend, whether it's the loser of the Missouri South Carolina game or maybe LSU falls, maybe Louisville falls, Clemson falls, whatever that looks like. There will be a number of teams from this group that end up getting just knocked out of the conversation, this upcoming week, whether it's them losing or just too many teams in front of them, winning, it's going to happen. So we'll keep you up to date with all those teams as that unfolds. And then you got the top 12 and Georgia, although they are number 12, they are not in the field because of the Boise State Auto bid. They are not in the field even though they're ranked number 12. So that's something to keep in mind there. But Ole Miss jumping only to 11 is kind of interesting to me. I thought they would bump up just a little bit more. I think them and Bama possibly could have jumped a little bit above Miami. I think if you put Miami down to 11 and then pop those two teams up, I would have very little problem with that. Now, I understand why they did it the way they did. Alabama Ole Miss has the two losses, so not necessarily going against it too aggressively there, but definitely something that I don't necessarily love. Notre Dame, Tennessee and BYU, they benefited from the losses in front of them, definitely a huge boost for them. I think Indiana, staying below Penn State, is a little bit telling. In the Big Ten shows you that there is a very clear pecking order and when there's a team that they feel is not infinitely, but is comfortably better on the field than the other, the record doesn't go out the window, but is ranked a little bit less important. And that's just kind of spattering around this entire thing. And it seems that Texas at number three has been a sticking point for some people, and I totally get it. No doubt about it. It's not the best resume by any means. Probably the best one on the schedule was Vanderbilt on the road or Michigan on the road. So totally understand why people are so upset about that. I do think the talent, I think the upside, and I think not having a terrible loss, although that Georgia won got a little bit ugly. It's obviously not a terrible, terrible loss like some of the other teams have behind them. And also something to keep in mind is it seems like the committee is taking into account how you did in those games. Texas only played one game that was within about 19 points other than that Georgia loss and that Vanderbilt game. That was the only other game that was within 19 points of their win. So they are taking care of business and they're doing it in a way that is fairly impressive. So they stay at number three and the top two is unchanged and that makes total sense. And then we'll see what happens with Indiana if they can get a win next week, then obviously they'll shoot up into that group. But overall, I think the rankings were a little all over the place. The criteria is a little bit unknown to me at this very moment. At the end of the day, I do think it makes for some great matchups in a really fun bracket and we'll get into that right now. So Oregon, Texas, Miami, and BYU, those would be your auto bids. Those would be the teams that you're looking at. I'm sorry, BYU is the three, Miami is the four, apologies for that. But definitely something to watch as we get into this. It's going to be really interesting to see how all of this plays out. But the first round matchups, you get Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Newland. That's going to be absolutely incredible to watch. Cannot wait to see what that unfolds like. And obviously, we'll see what happens with these two teams. If Tennessee lose this weekend, this will change in a hurry. But at the end of the day, the hypothetical of this one is downright special. Then you have Alabama going up to Bloomington to play a playoff game. I can't imagine that's something that anyone had on the Bringo card as we got into this year. But Indiana's played some great football and they absolutely deserve to be a host team right now. And we'll see what happens after that Ohio State game. We'll see if they fall below that eight line and obviously move into the going on the road to play one of those games. That's probably what I would expect, but we'll see what happens there. Then you have Penn State Ole Miss, a really interesting one. You have the Rebels going up to Happy Valley, going to be a fascinating one to watch. No doubt about that. Ole Miss would technically have probably the athleticism, the playmakers on the outside, that would be really special to watch. The question is, it would be December in Happy Valley. So what would the weather be like? And that also applies to Bloomington. What would the weather be like? And would Ole Miss or Alabama be able to handle that? Would be really interesting. And then you do have Ohio State, Boise State. That's one that has stayed the same over these last two weeks and would be a really interesting one to watch. Ashton Genti, again, some of the hard hitting guys on that Ohio State defense would be a sight to behold. No doubt about that. And then in the second round, you could get, you know, Organ Notre Dame. You could get Organ Tennessee or Ohio State BYU, Boise State BYU would be a fascinating matchup in the quarterfinals of the playoff. You would have Ole Miss Miami, which would be high flying offense or Penn State Miami, kind of a battle of styles. Alabama, Texas, we've seen that last couple of years, been amazing. Or Indiana, Texas could be up and down the field really fun, explosive plays all over the place. So I really like this bracket. I mean, every time it pops up, it's always really fun to look at. The rankings are a little bit harder to get an idea of. And let's get into that here for a second, because the committee, we've been able to see two rankings as of now. And we've got to get to some takeaways of what they're looking at every single week. The biggest thing to me that has kind of stood out is the way these rankings seem to work. And I don't necessarily love that this is the way it's working, but at least from face value. What it seems to be is they're going to value, are you undefeated? Do you have one loss? Do you have two losses above all else? That is going to be the way that they ranked teams just in general. Now, there is some exceptions, like Penn State being over Indiana or Texas being at number three instead of someone like Tennessee. There are some exceptions there. It seems to be the exception is just eye tests. You know, which team do you feel like is just outright better, would win on a neutral field? And they obviously feel that way with Texas. They obviously feel that way with Penn State over Indiana and even South Carolina over LSU. They seem to feel that way with how they've been playing lately. So definitely really, really interesting to kind of watch that unfold. But I don't necessarily love that is just, you know, if you're undefeated, congratulations. You're going to be up in the top six. If you have one loss, you'll probably be somewhere in that eight to 10 range or eight to 12 range. And then everyone else will kind of fill in the rest of the way. I don't necessarily love it. I'll be totally honest. I tend to believe that it will kind of work itself out throughout the next couple of weeks. But definitely something to watch. And then I think the chances of a two G5 teams is all but dead. Now, I do think if Army were to win out the rest of the way, Boise State were to go 12 and no. Maybe Army takes Notre Dame spot. But then I think Army or Boise State in that scenario would be then competing with a 10 to Tennessee or a 10 into Ole Miss or a 10 into Alabama, maybe even 10 to Texas at the end of the day. So it's going to be really interesting to watch that unfold. And I think it could come out on the wrong side form. So I'd be surprised if we get more than one G5 team in. I think the rankings have shown us that with the two other teams in the G5 being at 24 and 25 in these rankings. So definitely something to watch here. The other thing I'm noticing is if you're a two loss SEC team, as long as you are a two loss team that does not make the conference championship, you're probably not going to host a playoff game. Now, there might be some wiggle room up to that eight spot. Who knows? But at the end of the day, it looks as of right now. Tennessee's cutting it off at that eight spot. I'd be surprised if a BAM at 10 and 2 or an Ole Miss at 10 and 2 or a Georgia at 10 and 2 could find their way into a host position. Now, things will get interesting. If BAM were to make it to the SEC championship, I think then they could. So there's a little bit of wiggle room there, but it does seem like the SEC teams that already have two losses probably going to have a pretty tough time getting up to that host position. So as you can see, the SEC bias is going crazy. And the CFP rankings this time around, but I'll actually get into that tomorrow because a lot of people are going crazy for really no reason. But finally here, I think I'm still nervous about 11 and 1 Indiana. If they go 11 and 1, I feel a little bit better about where they are now, comparative to last week, but they're in a tough spot. And also them jumping BYU and Tennessee in this one just or BYU and Indiana, excuse me, jumping Tennessee in this ranking doesn't make much sense to me. I think they were just writing a wrong from last week. So more power to them, I suppose, that they're above them. But definitely something to watch. It feels like as of right now, the way it goes is what is your win loss record? And then if it's really, really close, you have, you know, what do you look like on the field? And then you go down the list and you try to figure out all the other metrics and things. So it's been interesting to watch all this unfold. And I'm not sure if we're going to have a good beat on it next week. We know all of this stuff unfold. But at the end of the day, we get a little bit closer to that final product. We get a little bit closer to this 12 team playoff. And every time you see the bracket, it gets a little bit more real, a little bit more exciting. So really fun rankings, definitely ones that I have some issues with here and there. But overall, I think it'll be worked out over the next little bit and we will break it down as it does. But let's take our first break here. And when we come back, we got to talk about Pit Clemson, a huge game in the ACC and one that will downright eliminate someone from the CFP and the ACC race. So we'll break it down right after this. The first ever Buick Encore GX Avenir is now in stock and short-line Buick. It's been said luxury is in the details. It's everybody in the world dying. Please, Lord, give me a sigh. A sigh. I feel like I'm losing my mind. It's everybody in the world dying. Alrighty. Welcome back everyone. We just broke down those CFP rankings that came out yesterday. Miami still the top ACC team. I don't necessarily agree with that, but I understand where they're coming from there. Georgia has dropping out all the way from the CFP conversation or from the picture at least going to be interesting to watch what they can do this weekend if they can jump right back into it. But let's get into the pit Clemson game because this is a huge one. There's a massive one in the ACC and one that could just decide who goes to the ACC championship against SMU at the end of the day. But obviously Miami is going to try to get in their way. But this is a huge one in Pittsburgh and definitely one that regardless of what happens, one of these teams is still in the ACC race. One of these teams is outright out and that's the end all be all. They would need Syracuse or possibly Wake Forest to trip up Miami the rest of the way. But other than that, if they can win this game, they're at least still in the race and then all of the energy gets put on Miami the rest of the way. So pit is in the same exact boat as Clemson in a lot of different ways where you obviously have had a tough couple of weeks. You've had not necessarily played your best football, especially offensively. You have a chance to get it all back right here. You have a chance to kind of reset the clocks even if pit doesn't make it to the ACC title. You have a win over Clemson. You're probably going 10 and 2 on the season and you're right on the outside looking in. That's a really big win and it puts this program in a really good place going forward. Obviously, you want to get to the ACC title, want to get another shot at the SMU Mustangs. But as of right now, I think it's a huge season for pit and definitely one that they can build off of. Clemson's offense has come crashing back down to earth kind of like pits has. They have struggled on third down. K club Nick has not been nearly as accurate. The O line has really struggled the last couple of weeks. So there's a lot of things here for Clemson that they might just have to gut out this win and then hope that Miami slips up somewhere along the way. But definitely a lot that's going into this one. I think the main thing for pit here is who's going to the starting quarterback going to be. It feels like Eli Holiestine or Holstein is going to be ready to roll. But Nate Yarnell is right there and he played some good football at different times this year. And regardless of who plays, I do think it'll be Holstein that trots out there with the first team. I feel like he is healthy enough to do that. The leash is not going to be very long. If Holstein makes one mistake or two mistakes early on in this game, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a Nate Yarnell pretty early on. And then on the other side for pit, for that pit defense, you got film offer running at you. This is a very, very talented running back guys top to 150 yards in the last, I think, three games. And they are 20th in the country and rush yards are allowed per game. So it's kind of a good on good matchup that Clemson offensive line. Not great at Pass Pro all the time. Pretty good at run blocking and getting downhill when they really commit to it. Going to be interesting to watch and if they can't get the run game going. If film office held under 50 yards, 60 yards in this game and a lot is put on Kate Club Nick's shoulders, there's probably mistakes on the way. That is something that has happened to Kate pretty much throughout his career. And it's definitely something that could really affect him in this game because this is one of those games where it feels like only a couple of mistakes or a couple of 50/50 plays could totally decide this thing. And then for Clemson, I think this is a huge game regardless of the ACC implications. Let's say you win this game, but Miami wins the rest of the way and they're in the ACC title. You still have 10 wins on the table. Now, if you lose, you're still looking at South Carolina at the end of the day and you could have eight and four on the table very quickly. Now, I'll be totally honest. Even if they win this game, I'm not sure I would love them against South Carolina. But at the very least, if we keep them in the ACC race and get them to nine wins, which is a moniker. It's not necessarily the one that Clemson wants to be a part of, it definitely is a benchmark for this season and puts them in a bowl game. They can get to 10 wins and then just take stock, figure out where you are at the end of the season. But obviously, they're still playing for plenty here, and we'll see what happens on this one. But the big time thing here is Kade Klubnik hasn't necessarily made a ton of mistakes. He hasn't necessarily turned the ball over a ton or given the ball away and, you know, just totally ruined drives. What he has done is missed a lot of receivers. His completion percentage has gone way down the last couple of weeks and it needs to get back up. It's one of those back ends. It's one of those groups on the defensive side for a pit that you can take advantage of. If you're on target, if you are hitting your receivers and stride, you will be able to find big plays down field. He just hasn't been able to do that lately. So it's going to be interesting to watch if you can kind of get over that, move forward and hit a couple of big plays in this game because that could really just be the entire thing. And then on the other side for the quarterback, we'll just see what happens with Eli Holstein. It's really just about his health. We'll see how healthy he is and if he's not fully healthy, then will that quarterback run game be what it needs to be for them to get this win? So Pitt is reeling right now, lost two straight and three would turn it into from an undefeated season into just a nightmare season in a hurry. It would be absolutely crazy collapse for them and it's going to be a really fun game. The pit fan base knows what this is about. Clemson knows what's on the line and it's going to be one that I think these teams get after each other a little bit offensively, but some players to watch. I think Desmond Reed is someone you're just going to want to watch in this game for about a million reasons. He's the best player offensively for Pitt. He also is someone that they just got to get the run game going one way or another. They have to find a way to get the run game at least rolling downhill and it's going to be tough to do, but this is the guy that can kind of open that offense not only in the run game, but in the receiving game is a huge player and definitely one that can totally change this one. And then we got Braylon Lovelace, the other number zero on this team. He had nine tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss against Virginia, and he's playing a team and a running back in particular in Philadelphia where he's going to have to play with a lot of aggression. He's going to have to be flying downhill and meet that guy at the line of scrimmage and drive him backwards. It's going to be really, really interesting to see the battle between these linebackers and this run game for Clemson and Brandon Lovelace. Braylon Lovelace is going to be as big of a part of that as really anyone. Jake Burningstool is someone I want to talk about for Clemson because I think you look at this Clemson pass game. It has lost that explosivity downfield and you're going to want to find that at some point in this game. The best way to do that is to run the ball and then get your tight end on those short outs. On those short drags is what I'm looking for. On those curl routes, whatever you can do to get him the ball close to the line of scrimmage, let him make some plays after the catch. I think it's going to set you up really well for that one or two really big plays downfield and also we'll get K club link into a rhythm which you very badly need. And then on the defensive side of the ball, TJ Parker is an absolute monster. Coming off the edge for that Clemson defensive line and you look at this pit team. Those quarterbacks do not look comfortable. Whenever they're back there in the pocket, especially with the whole scene injury, it looks like he's just not fully comfortable. Not fully there and definitely something that if they can get home a couple of times with TJ Parker and a couple of the other guys on this defensive line, it's going to be a nightmare for them to figure out for pit. And then ways Clemson can win. You got to get K club Nick comfortable early. There's no way you're going to be able to win this game if he just has to outright make plays over and over and over again down the middle of the field. He's going to have to get a couple of dump off passes to Antonio Williams, a couple of screens to Bryant West cover TJ Moore. He's going to have to get those plays because if he doesn't, then he's going to be under 50% completion again. This pit back ends going to be able to pick off a couple of the wayward passes and you're not going to be able to get that run game going the way you want because they don't have to fear the past game. So definitely something that they're going to want to get K club Nick comfortable early and if they can't then this one could spiral in a hurry. But the other thing, the pass rush just has to be in attack mode. I don't think this pit offense is going to be able to operate. If they can't get this pass game going really, if they can't get that quarterback out of the pocket and get him running. If they have people on him pretty much every which way from Tuesday, it's going to be really hard to do that. So TJ Parker, Barrett Carter, you have Peter Woods in the interior of that defensive line. Anything you can do to just collapse that pocket, make things more uncomfortable, push them out of that pocket and then make them create with their legs. It's probably going to be a big benefit for you. Eli Holstein is capable of creating with his legs. But if that's the best offense that Pitt is putting together on Saturday, then they're in a really bad position. And then find the explosive plays. We talked about it with Jake burning stool. You got to be able to find TJ Moore, Bryant Westcore, Antonio Williams down the field at least once or twice in this game. It doesn't need to be hit you over the head, Tennessee type offense where you hit those big plays over and over and over again, although Tennessee's been a little bit different this year. But in general, you don't need to hit a million of them. You do need to hit a couple. You do need to hit a couple to keep everything honest and make sure you open those runlings for film offa because that's the way you're going to win this game on the back of film offa. But you got to find the explosives to get the openings for him the way that you want them to. So going to be interesting to watch Clemson execute those. And then for Pitt, I think the past production is huge. You're going to have to make sure that you hold up against this unit that this pit front has not necessarily been great. They've been solid enough. They've kept Holstein clean for the majority of this season. But as of late, it's been getting a little bit porous and that's kind of led to a couple of the injuries that Holstein has dealt with. So definitely something to watch here and especially with the aggression and the physicality just in general of this Clemson defensive line. It's going to be a lot to deal with. But they're going to have to if they're going to want to get out here with a win. And then you got to get enough from the run game. Whether that's the quarterbacks, whether that Desmond Reed or a million other guys on that team playing around with different end-to-rounds with the wide receivers, I don't know. But at the end of the day, Clemson gave up only 40 yards on the ground of Virginia Tech last week. It's a really good running football team. So if Pitt cannot get that going, if they can't get Desmond Reed going, if they can't get Holstein on a couple of Reed options or whatever, it's going to be a really long day. And they can't just outright step back and pass the ball the entire time. Because as we talked about, that pass person is going to get after him in a hurry. And then finally, confused Kate Clubnick. He is one of those quarterbacks that felt like he was really hitting his stride, felt like he was doing a lot of great things. He was also hitting a lot of open receivers. He was hitting a lot of guys that didn't necessarily have anyone within five yards of them. So now you're going to have to make sure you confuse them a little bit on the back end. Whether that means rushing only four guys and dropping seven into coverage and just trusting the guys up front. Whether that looks like dropping six guys and just playing around with different coverages, different formations, I don't know. But at the end of the day, I do think you can get a couple of mistakes from him. Maybe they won't be turnovers, but absolutely is it someone that you can get a couple of mistakes from. And then you can really take hold of this game. If you can confuse him on that back end, get a couple of picks, then this entire thing changes and your offense can really get going. The thing is, I haven't seen that offense get going in a couple of weeks. And I'm not going to bet for him to get going against this Clemson defense. Now, I don't think Clemson's going to pull away in this game. I don't think it's going to be all that pretty. But I do think Clemson gets the win. I think they get the win 27-20. I think Pitt probably covers that spread of 10. But at the end of the day, it's going to be a very interesting game. And might just come down to who is a little bit more mentally ready for this one. Both these teams have kind of been beaten down over the last couple of weeks. And they're looking for a big bounce back. This would be the place to get it. So we'll see what happens there. And definitely one that one of those teams is going home proverbially, going home in the CFP race. And one of those teams is going on and putting all of the pressure on Miami the rest of the way. So it's going to be really interesting to watch. I think Clemson probably needs that win a little bit more than Pitt. But definitely will be interesting to watch how all that unfolds. But we'll break it down obviously on next week's show when it all wraps up. But let's take our second break here. And when we come back, we got to talk about a couple of upset alerts in the SEC. Texas heads over to Arkansas for a little bit of a rivalry there. And then LSU to Florida for a team that in Florida that just begging for a win. So we'll break it down right after this. We just talked about that huge game in the ACC pit and Clemson. One of those games that we're getting close to the end of the season. We're going to see quite a few elimination games around here. And also, I do want to apologize for the title. I've been trying to update it the entire show, and I do not know why it's not going up. I promise you, we're talking college football in here, and we will continue to do that. But let's get into these SEC upset alerts because we got Texas heading over to Arkansas. We have LSU going on the road to Florida. Two very interesting spots, and I wanted to break down these games. And the first one I think is special for reasons beyond even this year, because this is a rivalry. Whether, you know, if you're 13, if you're 14, even if you're 18, honestly, you might not even know that this is a rivalry. This one's special. These teams hate each other, and you will feel it in Arkansas Stadium or in Razorback Stadium on Saturday. Even if it's at noon, it is going to be absolutely rocking. These teams played every single year from 1932 to 1991 in the Southwest Conference, and they hate each other. It's going to be really, really special. The only time these two teams have played each other under the current head coaches was back in Steve Sarkeesian's first year at Texas in Sam Pittman's second year at Arkansas. It was one of the most thorough beatings that Texas has taken since Steve Sarkeesian took over as head coach. It was an absolute beating. I believe they had 59 total yards of offense. It was domination, and it gave you an idea of just how far Texas has come over the last couple of years, because they beat Alabama last year in Tuscaloosa. So it gives you an idea of just how far Sarkees brought that team from a physicality perspective, because they got downright bullied in that game. No doubt about that, but Texas is looking for a ton of momentum right now, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. They're trying to continue to roll into Fayetteville and take advantage of that pass defense that led Jackson Darko for over 500 passing yards on them. Obviously, I expect them to be a little bit more well equipped in this one, but definitely something where Texas is trying to keep that thing rolling, keep that downfield passing game rolling in. This seems to be a team that you can definitely do it again. Arkansas has been a team that's reeling just a little bit lately. The status of Sam Pittman becomes a little bit more up in the air than it felt after that Tennessee game earlier in the year, but they do get a buy to get healthy and hopefully Taelin Green will be in this. We'll actually talk about that here in a second, but they're looking for another huge win. And frankly, I think if they get this win, I think Sam Pittman's safe. I think he would get that huge win that would totally get all the boosters on his side, because again, the booster is a lot of the boosters for Arkansas. Grew up in the era, when they were playing this team every single year, they grew up in the era where all of these was one of the biggest games of the entire year across college football. So it's going to be important to them. If he wins this one, then I bet you'll see Sam Pittman and Fayetteville in 2025. I can't bet on that, but definitely something that I feel pretty good about. And then Texas getting a win would just be and you being in great position. You would get past one of these big time landmine spots on the road. You'd have Kentucky at home and then you'd have the big one against A&M that has been 13 years of buildup in the making. It could be for an SEC spot. It could be for a CFP berth and million things on the table in that game, but Texas got to take care of business in this one before we get it to get there. So very much want that to happen, but Arkansas very much does not want it to happen. So we'll break it down as it goes on. But Andrew Armstrong is someone that I want you guys to watch in this game because I just outright think this is the most underrated player in the sport. He is so good. Every time that I watch Arkansas, number two pops up time and again. He is so incredible in that pass offense. He's one of the most dynamic players. His catch radius is just out of this world. And in a world where we see so many incredible wide receivers all over the field or all over the country, this might be the best wide receiver on the field on Saturday as crazy as that sounds with Isaiah Bond on the field as well. And I think it's as close as you possibly want to make it and I wouldn't be mad at you if you leaned Isaiah Bond, but the physicality, the energy and the versatility of this kid is just out of this world. And I think he's someone that Texas has been good at stopping the pass thus far. This might be the best wide receiver they face this entire season. And then you got TJ Metcalf on the back end of that defense and we talked about it. Texas wants to get that pass game going. They want to push the ball down field. This guy's a turnover machine. He's very, very good at hunting the ball. He has three picks on the season, has a forced fumble. He's one of those guys that absolutely contains this game on a diamond. If we watch this game, I think objectively everyone says, they're probably going to need a couple of turnovers to get this one done. Quinn Eurus has been prone to giving away the ball a couple of times during that stretch where it seemed like he was a little bit less healthy, but still the opening is there to be had TJ Metcalf probably the guy to watch for that. Then DeAndre Moore is the guy I want to talk about and he's someone that really struggled last week. He had two drops. One wasn't quite as bad of a drop as the other one. There was one drop over the middle of the field that he just outright should have caught. There was another one in the end zone that a little bit tougher. Not nearly as mad about him at him for that one, but I think it just, I'm betting on him. I'm betting on the person behind the pads because I think he is just itching to get back on the field. He's a very, very talented, very fast, and kind of the leader of that wide receiver room and a lot of ways because he's been at Texas for quite some time and he's such an important player on that team. He does everything. He does that Jordan Whittington role from the past year where he's going to do all the blocking. He's going to do all the tough work in. I think he really wants to get back out on that field and make a couple of big plays and I expect him to, if I'm being totally honest. And then you got Michael Taft on the back end of that at Texas defense. If you have not watched this kid, go ahead and do yourself a favor and watch him because he is so much fun. He flies around the field. He plays with reckless abandonment. He is as cool of a player as there is across the country. And I think when you come into a game where you have a mobile quarterback, you're going to need someone from the safety level to come down and be able to help and run support. It's exactly what this kid is and he comes with a vengeance, but some keys to the game, a reignite rivalry. Obviously, that's going to play a role in this one. This is a coach in San Pitman that absolutely loves everything Arkansas for Steve Sarkisian, a little bit newer to the Texas world, but absolutely loves that university understands the history of this game and not on top of all of that. The fans in the crowd, a lot of them understand what this one's about and it's going to be really, really special and that place is going to be rocking. I don't care if it was noon or 2 a.m. or in the middle of a pasture field at 5 a.m. They're going to be loud. They're going to be there and it's going to be incredible to watch this one get reignited. And then the Texas line of scrimmage play is going to be interesting to watch for me. The O line has struggled over as recent and when you look at that Arkansas, Tennessee game, that was kind of what they did well. They got after Niko Iamali Ava. They forced him to make some mistakes and definitely had that downfield passing game really struggling in that one. And Travari Jackson deserves a ton of respect for that as well, but it's definitely going to be huge for Texas to get that run game going. They did a good job late in that game against Florida. I bet you see a little bit more Jared Gibson and that aggressive run game in this one as well. But finally, Tailing Green status is huge. They got bi-week to get him a little bit more healthy. How healthy is he is really the thing I'm coming down to. I think he will go. I don't think it'll be Malachi Singleton. If it is, then give me Texas and give me them by a lot. But at the end of the day, if Tailing Green does go, if he's at 80%, is that enough for him to push them with his legs? If he's at 90%, is that enough? If he's at 100, you feel great going into this. But what is his percentage level in? How much do you need to get that run game going the way that you want it to? I'm going to go Texas in this one. I really can't think of a reason why Arkansas is going to be able to get this one done unless they're able to totally stifle this Texas offense, the way that it had been in a couple of other games. There is a world where that happens. I think Arkansas is a little bit tapped out on the season. I'll be totally honest with you. And I think Texas is kind of surging. I expect to see a pretty comfortable performance. Maybe Arkansas scores a late touchdown to make it a little bit closer, but I think Texas gets a pretty comfortable win and continues on their way. And then we got a huge one in the swamp that is going to be very fascinating to watch because you have an LSU team that is still in the conference mix. As crazy as that sounds, what they need is they need to win out the rest of the way, obviously, then they need Georgia to win this weekend, then they need South Carolina and Arkansas to knock off Missouri to finish off the year. If they get all of those things, which sounds a little bit far fetched, but South Carolina's favored over Missouri this week, Georgia's favored over Tennessee, so it could just be going to the very end of the year for this one. But LSU's got to take care of business and games will first, obviously, but I know that it's going to be really, really interesting to watch all of this kind of unfold. And I think one of the biggest things here as we get into this game is DJ Lagway. Is he a go? How close to 100% is he kind of like the tail and green thing? They're going to need his legs to win this game. We've shown that LSU cannot necessarily handle that part of an offense. If you can get him out on the edge, you're going to have a lot of success. I tend to believe he's going to go. I tend to believe he's going to be 85%, 80%, maybe, but it's going to be really interesting to see what he can do. And is it just the downfield passing game or is it a little bit more of that run game that they've been really good at getting going when he is healthy? So that's definitely something to watch. If he's not 100%, then we have a lot of questions around LSU going forward. And then the big question for LSU, particularly on the defense, is are you still fully locked in? You just got absolutely railroaded the last couple of weeks and you've been doing it in the exact same fashion in the last two games. So can you bounce back? Do you have the mental energy? Do you have the mental toughness to fully bounce back from that and get back on track and play really good defense in this game? Maybe not. Maybe they're a team that's just going to sputter at the end of the year and nine and three, eight and four. Wow. And eight and four and be very disappointed about the end of the season. And then for Florida, they need this win about as badly as anyone in the country because if they want to get to below the ability, you at least need to win before that Florida State game. Because I tend to believe they're going to be Florida State. I think everyone probably believes they're going to be Florida State right about now. But you need to get there because if you don't, then the next nine months, really, for Billy Napier is going to be just a nightmare. And he's going to have to deal with a million different things while the fans come after him every which way from Tuesday. But a couple of players to watch in this one, Chimery DK has become a huge player for this Florida offense, especially with Elijah Badger and Trey Wilson out. I don't think Trey Wilson's coming back. I'll just leave it at that for the time being. But he had five catches 95 yards last week against Texas. He's a huge player and definitely someone regardless of who the quarterback is, they're going to need a little bit of a downfield passing game. And this is a guy that absolutely can do that along with Aidan Mizel, another wide receiver there. But Triquoise Bridges is someone on the back end of this defense that I think will be funny fun to watch in this one because Florida does like to play a little bit more of that zone coverage, a little bit more of that sit back and let your athletic long defensive line go to work. It's going to be interesting to see what Triquoise Bridges can do in this one. He is a little bit of a ball hawk, loves to get those picks and Garrett Nussmeyer can leave the ball up in the air just a little bit too long at times. Maybe that's the moment that Triquoise Bridges picks one off and totally changes this game for Florida and really the season for Florida in a lot of ways. Aaron Anderson is the guy I want to watch. I want you guys to watch or I will be watching for LSU this upcoming weekend because when you look back at that Florida game or Florida Texas game, they really struggle with that speed. And Texas has probably more than more of it than just about anyone in the country. But at the end of the day, Aaron Anderson can do a lot of the things that Isaiah Bond can do. He can do a lot of the things that Silas Bolden, that Matthew Golden can do and he's a very, very dangerous player. So maybe it's just a screen pass that goes 70 yards because Florida can't wrap him up on one. Definitely something to watch in this one and I think he can just be a spark plug for this offense. And then Braden Swinson, he has become one of the best edge-rushers in the entire conference. And I think when you look at this Florida offense, regardless of if DJ's on the field or if DJ's not on the field, you're going to want to get after the quarterback. DJ can obviously make you hurt a little bit more with his legs. So maybe you'll have to be a little bit more disciplined on the edge if he's in the game just to make sure he doesn't get around. But then if it is Aiden Warner, I was blanking on his name there for a second. If it is Aiden Warner, go after him. Just absolutely be on attack mode. Make this guy worried. Make this guy think more than he has to. And definitely you will be able to win this game. So I think they're going to come after him and I think Braden Swinson is going to be at the very top of that. And then the LSU toughness is something that I'm very interested in here. And it's not to say that I think LSU is going to quit or anything like that. But they didn't just lose too straight by combined 44 points. The defense is right back to where it looked like it was last year. There's a lot of fans that are very worried about the future of this program with Brian Kelly at the helm. Are they able to go into a very hostile environment and just get that win? Are they able to just handle their business, continue moving on their way? Or are they a little bit checked out? Are they a little bit slow to get up for this game? And if Florida goes up 7-0, are they a little bit quick to kind of be like, "Oh, well it's happening again, type of energy." So definitely something to watch. I tend to believe that they'll still be engaged, but definitely something that could come back to bite them. And then DJ Lagway's health. It's kind of like what we talked about with Taelyn Green. If he's on the field, they are a better team, just point blank period. If he's 100%, they're a team that can just outright beat LSU on Saturday. So that's kind of the difference to me. If he's on the field in 80% and 70%, I wouldn't necessarily love Florida. If he's 100% when he gets out there, I might start liking Florida a lot more. And then finally, that Florida fan base, what's the buy-in at this point? How much energy is being put into the 2020-14? 2025, I think they'll be right back up on that horse. But just the question becomes, if LSU goes up early in this one, they score a quick touchdown, maybe get a stop and then go up 14-0. Is there any juice left in that stadium? We saw it in week one when they played Miami. It got out of there in a hurry because they were worried about what this team had. They were worried about the future of this team in that season. And now you're worried about the future beyond this season. So I wonder if LSU gets up 10-0, 14-0 early on in this game. Does that place go quiet and just never get loud again? It's going to be something to watch. But I do think this one's going to be close. I just can't pick against LSU. I think LSU gets it done. I think they get it done by about seven points. Frankly, I really, really flirted with putting Florida at 24, putting Florida at 28, even putting him at 28. I really flirted with possibly Florida winning this game because I think it's a really sketchy one. I think Florida is just as desperate as ever. And if that team's going to fight the way that they have in the last couple of weeks, I would not count them out of anything. So going to be an awesome couple of games and definitely some games that if Texas were to lose, if LSU were to lose, we got a lot of questions to answer. I'll just put it that way. But let's take our third break here when we come back. We got some upset alerts all around the country that I want to break down for you. We just dealt with a couple of games in the SEC that I think are really fascinating for this upcoming weekend. Texas, Arkansas, we had LSU, Florida, two games that both those teams. Texas and LSU could fall out of the CFP race, could fall out of the SEC race in this one. So definitely a couple that you want to keep your eye out on. But we got some upset alerts beyond just the SEC. We got some upset alerts that I want to get you guys updated on. And I think we got to start with Notre Dame. And I know they've become a very frequent member of this grouping. But I think you know why. That early loss to NIU is still in the back of my head. So I can't necessarily get it out. Notre Dame is up to the number eight team in the country, looking very, very solid right about now. Virginia is coming off a big time win over pit. It was a little bit of an ugly one, one that had a questionable call towards the end of that game. But at the end of the day, Virginia gets a huge win. It goes into this game with a ton of confidence. And I think it's one of those teams that is just looking to recap it over the next couple of weeks. I think they have a couple of big time games that they can just mess up everything. And the ACC and even beyond that. If they win this game, then Notre Dame walks into a game against Army that could have felt like a, you know, CFP play in game. It might just feel like Notre Dame is there for no reason. And now they obviously want to win that game. But just to say, Virginia could kind of ruin the mystique of that matchup that we've been building up over the last couple of weekends. And I think the biggest thing here is there's a number of quarterbacks kind of across the country that have just this thing about them. It's Diego Pavia. It's Ashton Daniels over at Stanford. It's a couple of these guys that not necessarily the most physically gifted, not necessarily the most special athletes are, you know, going to throw the ball 60 yards down field or hit everyone's stride every time. But they're really gutty. They're a team, they're a player, they're a team in general that can just fight, that can find a way to get through all of the punches, find a way to get through all of the craziness and come out with a win. And Virginia Anthony Quillanger is one of those teams. Anthony Quillanger is one of those guys that just leads this team absolutely fearlessly. He is the guy that wants to make every single play. He wants to get out there and run the ball and get hit a couple of times. He wants to set the tone from a physicality perspective for his team. And that's not common for a quarterback. You'll look around the country, you'll see a couple other guys. But at the end of the day, that's the type of guy that can lead you into this stadium, lead you in against a top 10 team and not flinch. And that's kind of the biggest thing here. You need your leaders to not flinch. That's exactly what Diego Pavia did against Alabama. That's exactly what a number of people at Joey Aguilar even last year did it when he walked into Texas A&M. That's another gritty guy. That's a guy that is not going to be denied, that is going to just drag his team to a better performance than they would have usually had. So there's going to be a lot of things that go into this game. And frankly, Virginia is probably going to need a couple of takeaways to get into this game and to really get this win. But all that being said, they feel like that team. They feel like a team that can go into a place that they have no business winning and that they probably shouldn't even be in the conversation and they find a way to get it done. So I think it's going to be a really sketchy game. I wouldn't necessarily be too concerned about Notre Dame losing it outright. I'd be pretty concerned about this one being close in the fourth quarter. So I'll put a one out of five on the upset meter, but it being close would be definitely a little bit higher on that upset meter. Definitely something to watch and if Virginia wins it, all that mystique around the army Notre Dame matchup kind of phase just a little bit. But moving forward, we got SMU, the team that fell a little bit in the rankings this past weekend, even though I don't think they should have, but that's beside the point. They do get Boston College at home this upcoming weekend and it's going to be really interesting to watch this unfold mainly because of the dynamics around SMU right now. You're at the top of the ACC. You are alone at the top of the ACC and your very first year there. That is an energy they have not faced in quite some time. Obviously, they were very good in the American. This is a totally different ball game and it's going to be really interesting to watch what they can do just from a mental perspective as they head into this game. And Thomas Castellanos did leave the game last weekend. Sounds like he might have left the program. We'll get into that over the next couple of days because it might just be the last time you see Thomas Castellanos in Boston College, Jersey because he seemed very frustrated by getting bench for Grace and James last week. But at the end of the day, Grace and James did a good job when he came into the game, but the run game was really what got them that win. It was absolutely dominating against Syracuse and if they can get it going in this one, it's exactly what you want to do against SMU. Keep that defense or keep that offense on the sideline. Make sure you can run the ball, wear them down and then make sure you're in the fourth quarter with a one score game. That's all you can really do if you're Boston College and they've been really good at doing that pretty much all year regardless of the team they're playing even when they probably should blow out that team. They're very good at keeping games close and it's going to be really interesting to watch that unfold. I think it's going to be a little bit low scoring, but SMU is in a spot that they just haven't faced before and they're facing a dangerous team that can absolutely keep this one close, absolutely make it a little bit sketchy for them. I think SMU is pretty safe in this one. I think barring some big time mistakes that happened for SMU, they're probably in pretty good shape as they go into this one. I would like them to win probably a two out of five on the upset meter, but one to watch. If you can get that Boston College offense rolling downfield and especially that run game, this thing becomes a little bit more interesting in a hurry. The number one team in the country finds themselves right back on the upset alert meter for me and this one is a little bit more sketchy than anyone they faced all year in my opinion. They head on the road to another big time big 10 atmosphere this weekend. Wisconsin's been reeling a little bit and looking for that big time win that has eluded them and really would help out this entire season. I think there's so much confusion around that program, so much confusion about what Luke Fickles era is going to be. This win would subside a lot of those worries. I can promise you that, but for this to happen, it's got to be a dominating performance from the Wisconsin running game. It's got to be Tawy Walker running downfield, playing getting a couple of big plays, but also just getting those three yards, getting four yards, getting three yards again, and then just continuing to move the chains. We talk about this organ offense every single time you play them. The way to beat them is keep the offense on the sideline. That is maybe the only way to beat them if I'm being totally honest. You're in a position where if you're Wisconsin, slow this game down, get the run game going. It's not going to be all that easy against the organ defensive line, but you're not going to beat them just going punch for punch between brain lock and Dylan Gabriel. I can almost promise you that, so you're going to have to find the run game one way or the other. The good news forum is Wisconsin has one of the best past defenses in the entire country. They're really good at stopping explosives. They're really good at keeping everything pinned in. Maybe that's what you need to do. If you can stop the explosive and then the run game is solid for organ, but not necessarily overwhelming, you could be in a really good position to at least make this one a little bit gross, make it a little bit mucky, and then that's the game that you want. Organ wants a very clean up pace, you know, up and down the field type game. Wisconsin wants the exact opposite. So we'll see what happens here. I think the big thing here is whoever gets out to a quick lead first is probably going to win this game. I think if Wisconsin goes up by 14, Oregon could be a little bit shell shock to be in a position they hadn't been in, especially with that number one next to their name yet. And then if Wisconsin, if you go down 14-0, I don't think you'll get back into this one. I think Oregon's just going to be too much on the offensive side of the ball. I'll put a three out of five on this one. It's definitely one that I'm watching pretty closely, particularly because Oregon's on the road, but not one that I'm overly worried about for the ducks. I'll just put it that way. Then we'll get to Colorado, Utah. This is a huge game in so many different ways and not just, you know, the fact that it is a huge one in the big 12, but it's a dangerous one for Colorado. And I think the biggest thing here is Colorado has done a great job all year of meeting the physicality of the team that they're playing. Nebraska got them just a little bit early on in the season, but as the season has gotten on, as the O line has gotten better, as the defensive players have gotten better, particularly interior defensive line, they've been really good about keeping up physically with all of the teams they've played. This will be the most physical team they've played since Nebraska. No doubt about that. They might be even more physical than Nebraska. That is what they do. That is the way they made a living for the last 20 years, really, since Kyle Whittingham took over there. So you're in a position now where you're just going to have to bow up. You're going to have to do the thing that you've been able to do the last couple of weeks. You're probably going to have to do it a little bit higher of a level this time around. And Colorado run game is not going to be good in this game. Let's just be totally honest. It hasn't been good against much worse pass or much worse run defenses than Utah. So they're not going to be able to run the ball in this game. Colorado has to be successful. Passing the ball has to be successful and pass pro most aggressively because you have some dudes on that Utah defense. You have Logan Fano. You have a couple of edge rushers that we'll get after your quarterback and we'll totally change this game. And it's really the best pass rush they face since that KSU game. So you're in a position where that last game you lost was at home to a team that's kind of physical had the nature that Utah has. The other side of that obviously is not nearly as explosive of an offense for Utah than it is for Kansas State. So that gives you a little bit of an upper hand here puts you in a really good position. They should be able to just out athlete Utah. They should be able to get the ball out on the edge. Let Lojante Western let Travis Hunter make those big time plays. I'm going to put a four out of five on this one. I think it's really, really dangerous. It's probably one of the toughest games that they're going to face really all year just from a physicality perspective. But definitely one that is sketchy at the very least. I think we'll do a full breakdown on this one tomorrow just to give you guys a good idea of the full idea of what I think because it's going to be a fun one. I will say it's a very sketchy one. But as of right now, I'll keep my pick to myself at least for the time being. Then you got Cincinnati Iowa State Iowa State did fall out of the top 25 after their second consecutive loss. They are favored in this game though by nine points in. It's one of those spots where you're sinking like a rock. You're still alive for the big 12 race. If that game we just talked about, if Utah is able to be Colorado, you win this game. You're right back in the driver's seat. You're right back in the position where it just comes down to that Kansas state game that you have at your play. So it's going to be really interesting to watch this unfold. Cincinnati is a very good team when it comes to execution. They find a way to get the ball down the field, kind of play a little bit of a, I don't want to say monotonous, but just kind of an execution based offense. They don't necessarily do anything aggressive down field. They don't necessarily stretch you too much, but they make the play that's in front of them. Now, last week they didn't do much of that. They gave the ball away way too often. Brendan Sores, we probably had the worst game he's had at Cincinnati. So a lot of things do need to be fixed up, but for the majority of the year, they've been really good about that. So I'd expect them to go back to that on Saturday. And I think the other part of this is Iowa state just can't play complimentary football. They rolled defensively against Texas Tech, but could not score. And last week they were able to score pretty much at will. They couldn't stop anything. So this Iowa state team is very, very hard to pin down. They can get back on track offensively. They can put up some points on this team. So it's definitely something that they're going to have to be a little bit careful about and definitely something we will be watching into this one. I think it's a huge worry spot for Iowa state. They've been really sinking like a rock in. I think there's one where Cincinnati could get them. I'll put four out of five on this one, but definitely one to watch down the stretch of the season. And then we got BYU. They're in a weird spot against Kansas because you look at that line very similar to that Kansas line that they had last week against Iowa state. So I'd be a little bit nervous if I was BYU in this one, but BYU escaped a really bad situation in Salt Lake City last weekend. Now they face another team, but in their home stadium, which is very, very nice. Now the difference between Utah and Kansas is Kansas can put it on you. The Kansas offense is really, really going to work. Jalen Daniels said a remarkable performance the last couple of weeks, and it's been really, really hard to keep this Jay Hawks offense down and they're still fighting for their bold lives. I believe they're three and six right now. If I'm not mistaken, could be four and six, but I think they're three and six and they're trying to stay alive in this race. This would be a huge win to get us there. And then for BYU, the question I have is the question I've had really all year. Are you going to get that kick return from Keel and Marion? Are you going to get the turnovers you got last week to put you in a position to win that game? I don't know. It's going to be really, really interesting to watch. They've been great at doing it all year at forcing turnovers at making those big plays when they need them. Sometimes it's just a little bit of luck that goes your opposite direction and then all of that falls apart. So it's going to be interesting to watch that all unfold. And the good news for BYU is here. You can afford a loss and still be right at the top of the big 12, still be right in the conversation. For that big 12 championship, but as of right now, I'm a little bit worried about this game. This is definitely a five out of five on the upset meter for me. Definitely one that I'm a little bit worried about and we'll probably break it down in a little bit more detail tomorrow. So be on the lookout for that and I'll probably give my official pick on that one tomorrow. But let's take our last break here. When we come back, we got to talk about some questions as we head into this weekend. First, we'll start off just breaking down all the teams that could be knocked out of the CFP race this upcoming week. So we'll break it down right after this. I don't see either of those happening so I wouldn't worry too much if you're a Buckeyes or a Nini Lion fan. And then the big 12 Iowa State is in a little bit of a tough spot obviously like we talked about the KSU and Arizona State loser they are officially out of the race for the big 12 which is essentially the race for the CFP at this point and then West Virginia can fall out of the conference race. I think they could fall out even if they win a couple other teams lose so I would probably expect them to fall out of the race and then BYU totally safe even with one loss so they can't fall out regardless of what happens this weekend against Kansas. And then finally in the ACC it's obviously the loser against in this game. The loser is obviously out of the conversation if Louisville were to lose to Stanford or Virginia were to beat Notre Dame which is not the ACC but obviously it has to do with the ACC those teams would be knocked out and then you'd be in a really interesting position SMU is safe with one loss so they would be more than fine if they took one this weekend but everyone else definitely a little bit on edge for sure. Then we'll get into who needs to make a statement and I think there's a lot of teams out there especially with it being kind of a quiet week. There's a number of places where some teams can really get back onto the radar maybe get back into the conversation and Tennessee's one of them this is a huge game for Tennessee. This is maybe the biggest game that Josh Hyple has had at his program the entire time he's been there and it's not to say that that Alabama game back in 2022 was an incredible it's just to say you're on the road against a team that you have not beaten in quite some time or I don't want to say quite some time but you haven't beaten in a little bit. Let's just put it at that and you're in a position where you win you're almost definitely in the SEC title you're almost definitely in the playoff. This is a program changing moment for Josh Hyple and the voles and if they can put on a statement performance that they go in there and win by 14 points we're talking about this team as one of the best teams and maybe the best team in the country going forward. I know that sounds crazy but Tennessee's got it got it rolling right now and it could be a big moment on Saturday and then South Carolina I think another team that absolutely could put on a big time performance this week I talked about it I'd be surprised if they found their way in as an at-large bid but the team is playing really good football right now if they go out there and absolutely dominate Missouri and roll the rest of the way they dominate Clemson then we're having a conversation around this team maybe they're the team that would edge out a three lost Georgia in favor of them or at the end of the day but it'll be interesting to watch all of that unfold I'd be surprised regardless of what happens this weekend if South Carolina were able to fit in but if they need a statement this would be a great weekend to get it and then that team that they're going to play at the end of the year Clemson just needs one regardless of the ACC championship regardless of the CFP I leave all of that out of it they need a big time win they need a win where they really impose their will they need a win where they show that they're still a team that although they might miss out on the ACC championship they're still one of the teams that is at the top of that conference you have to have to have to do this if you lose this game the questions around Dabo Sweeney get really really loud really aggressive and very valid in a hurry so a lot of things to figure out over there and if you win on top of that you put all the pressure back on the hurricanes to win out the rest of the way and then you got Tulane Navy this is a very very interesting game and one or excuse me under the radar game of the week is what I'm doing here apologies but Tulane Navy is one that I think is going to be really really fun and frankly it'll likely decide who meets army in that American championship bar none I'd be very surprised if it was anyone else and then you get Blake Horvass some elite play callers and elite playmakers on the offense for Tulane it's going to be a really fun one and we'll break it down in a little bit more detail later on in the week but this is a game that you're definitely going to want to tune in to then you got Nebraska USC this is really interesting to me just because the dynamics around the two offenses both offenses have been really struggling and they made changes to try to fix that USC has flipped to Jaden my Ava as they're starting quarterback over Miller Moss Nebraska has gone to Dana Holierson that was just on campus for 10 days before he was named offensive coordinator for that program obviously a guy that has done a lot of really good things on offense we'll see what him and Dylan Meyer will look like on Saturday it'll be really really interesting to watch and then you got watched in state New Mexico cannot wait for this game this is so much fun and if you want to have a game where you just get to watch the two quarterbacks go to work this is going to be the game for you John material has been one of the most electric players all year and then Devon Dampir I know I've talked about him on here a lot maybe I've talked about New Mexico just a little bit too much watch this kid and you'll understand why he is one of the most electric players in the sport and every time you get a chance to watch him go ahead and sit down and watch him he is totally worth your time and he is so much fun to watch and then we'll move to the group of five we obviously took Tulane Navy off the board here but Boise State San Jose State I think he's a fascinating one obviously a ranked matchup so gives it a little bit more juice but you have a San Jose State defense that is really good one of the better ones they face since that UNLV defense that was able to make that game close it is about a two touchdown spread in this one so they expect Boise State to get the win but definitely something to watch and then we'll talk about that uh the big storyline as you head into this one right here in a second but the other game I'm watching South Alabama Louisiana is a really interesting one this is a South Alabama team that really came out of the gates flying geo Lopez and that offense felt like they could not be stopped even going into that LSU game you were sitting there thinking maybe we got a little bit of a shootout on our hands obviously didn't go down that way but this is a very talented South Alabama team in Louisiana still technically alive in the CFP race I'd be surprised if they were able to get there considering all the teams above them but if chaos does strike and everything goes wrong for a number of these teams maybe it is Louisiana that finds their way towards the top of this thing and gets a big time win here and really inserts themselves into that conversation but the winner to me North Texas UTSA and is for one reason and one reason very one reason only points you were gonna get points in this game and you were gonna get a lot of them the over under in this game is 72 and a half I am not joking there are uh over unders in the NFL that are half that number I love it you're gonna get points you're gonna get lots of points you're gonna get some big time plays you're gonna get a north Texas offense that is gonna fly up and down the field especially after a week where they kind of got embarrassed they're gonna want to get that back out out there on that field to make a statement it's going to be really fun to watch no doubt about that but moving on to the Heisman race who has the most to gain this week and it's kind of a good week for a couple of players because Cam Ward Dylan Gabriel they're sitting on their couches this weekend they're just hanging out watching all these games unfold so the two ones that I tend to believe are the top two candidates have a really big opening and Travis Hunter might be the main among them he has a huge game against a huge really talented team if he walks out there plays 130 snaps goes for 125 receiving and gets a pass breakup or two the dude is going to cement himself at the very top of that race I feel very confident in that I think they're they've been waiting for that one moment where a couple of players are off a couple of players aren't playing and this is the guy on center stage he's going to be this weekend and it's going to be really interesting to watch if he can live up to the hype and kind of start to create a little bit of a gap between him and everyone else in that race and then we got to talk about Ash and Gente I've talked about him a lot and frankly I think a lot of people have written him off in this race and saying he can't win it anymore and I think it's going to be a tall order for him to do but excuse me I apologize but at the end of the day if you were to put on a show this weekend if you were to go for 200 yards and three touchdowns like he did last week because somehow that's routine at this point but he would totally punch his ticket to NYC if he was able to do it this weekend I think he would definitely be one of the four and then you just have to figure out the rest of the way or one of the three who knows how the season finishes but at the end of the day it's a huge week for him and maybe Travis Hunter stumbles a little bit maybe they lose that game and he's held under wraps and you go for 203 touchdowns things change in a hurry in that race I'll just leave it at that we'll see what happens this upcoming weekend and then finally the individual matchup of the week is going to be really interesting to watch and there are a couple of mismatches that I could have picked that are going to be fascinating to watch like the Georgia O line against the Tennessee D line but I'm trying to go for a little bit more even matchups here and one that I'm kind of watching a little bit more closely Carson Beck against Tim Banks the defensive coordinator for Tennessee is going to be fascinating and it comes down to that offensive line against that defensive line in a lot of ways because Carson Beck has really struggled the offensive line has not helped is running backs have not helped his wide receivers have not helped I don't think Mike Bobos helped very much so you're in a position where Carson Beck has been making a lot of bad decisions not always on him but Tim Banks is going to attack him in a lot of different ways especially with James Pierce Jr can he step up to the challenge can he meet this defense where they are and really put together what has to be his best performance of the year plain and simple so going to be a huge one and one that could define the Georgia season going forward and then the Kansas state run game against the Arizona State defense and really just the run games against each other I'll leave it at that I'm going to leave out the defensive part of it just the run games against each other is going to be special to watch you have Avery Johnson you have Dylan Edwards you have DJ Giddens on one side and then on the other you got a you got cam scataboo you Sam Levitt can absolutely make some plays with his legs you have some really talented players and these run offenses are going to get after each other and ASU has an elite run defense so does Kansas state so it's going to be really really fun to watch this one unfold and I think it could be one of those low scoring affairs that just comes out of that one or two plays and we'll break down in that one in a little bit more detail tomorrow I can promise you that but finally the Clemson run game against that pit front seven is going to be fascinating and I think that pit front seven is very athletic very lengthy very one of those groups that can pretty much stop any run game that's in front of them thing is film awful likes to run through people he is not necessarily someone that is going to try to make you miss and be able to get a couple of tackles for loss he's going to run through he's going to fall forward and pits just going to have to be able to slow him down and not get worn down throughout this game so it's going to be really fun to watch and I think pit one of the better run defenses in the country they're gonna have their hands full in this one I can almost promise you that so it's going to be an awesome week I just cannot wait every time we get a little bit closer to this week I cannot wait even more but tomorrow we got some big ones for you we're going to break down Tennessee Georgia a huge game for both those teams I want to get into
