stuff i'm going to start doing some stuff with the NFL and stuff like that big into linebacker play and those are going to be i mean the the point behind the podcast studio and the studio off hours is that there will be actual shows based on the whiteboard so that you can go into you it'll be playing viewing so you know okay i need to be on the stream so i could see what jay's talking about see what strict is talking about right go through that character would love it it's a thing that to have you know j foreman's five plays each week that he just breaks that look it's professor foreman and he gets to take you into the classroom yeah i mean it's uh i mean it's uh you know it's always about quality and you know you know in doing good work and understanding what you're trying to get a point there's always got to be a point into it because it's always like uh the approach to the game this the thing that's missing in football at every level is the mental approach to the game that's why losing is is not as big as deal because you approach it if you put enough into it and you understand you have to think about this game differently we just talked about what bama did stopping a run play but pass wise conceptually is the same thing that we faced just last week against usc a same like linebacker hybrid type right and there's different reasons why like austin said you play top down or underneath and make them run the loop all that type of stuff um so it's great so uh but uh earlier today i think what matt rule had is weekly in the week press conference i heard your voice be didn't stop in and say hi jay me yeah i was in the room oh i know he was over whoops you didn't say nothing you're too busy for me yeah that's okay that's okay i went too busy for you i just didn't know he was in uh he had a weekly press conference um you know he's in carnito man he's you know yeah i'm super surprised i don't mean but you're on front street that's all right it's cool i'm always on backstreet anyway it's true yeah uh what do you want we got some some tommy hill news another week of augerson we'll do the tommy hill just because that was the one of the bigger thing uh two quotes from matt rule on tommy hill here's him making the announcement that uh he's out for the final two games yeah tommy's uh tommy tommy will be out uh the next two games he's he's tried to play uh it's it's obviously it's tough for him he's dealing with a lot and uh so i just i just shut them down you know he's been invited to see your bull um maybe he'll be ready for bowl practice but um he's out there but he's playing half speed three quarter speed and so uh that's led to you know obviously led to the first touchdown in this game led to the first touchdown in diana game led to uh first touchdown in the allenoy game so i feel for him came with you with high expectations you know had the had the foot injury and it's just never quite been the same and then here's matt rule on who made the decision about tommy hill uh sitting out the final two games yeah i'm having this collaboration but but i you know i can't put him out there anymore um he's you know he's good he cares about his teammates and wants to be out there but he um you know he's only hurting himself and you've given up touchdowns you know and so it's just uh it's unfortunate for him but um he has better days ahead um he's gonna graduate he's um you know he's gonna come in every have every day and get himself ready and hopefully go have a really strong senior ball showing you know when you're when you're a guy who relies on your speed to play and you lose that and stuff and so it's just uh unfortunate unfortunate break for us this year yeah i mean it's a you know look you got you know you got a coach that kind of you know this with any player to get you out of your own way you know as far as like hey look what you got to see past today you're not doing yourself any favors as much as you want to you know give it the old college try or whatever you want to call it and and then uh you know look out for his you know his uh he's uh present and then obviously um you know his future so um you know look he you know goes out saying he's struggled um when you play a position like defensive back uh when you when you got a blown tire one of your dogs or or or or is hurting trust me i know um it it doesn't bode well for a skill set that you need to be able to run you got to be able to jump you got to be able to cut and then more importantly um foot injuries ankles or foot are just very tricky because you want everyone you're gonna get a lot of blood circulation down there and we always have uh both razdan and fin and here uh from am I and they talk about that so just that alone it's very tricky and then the thing that doesn't get talked about a lot a lot is just the mental part of being hurt not knowing that you're not yourself trying to figure out a way to perform and everything that you've probably tried to do whether it was resting a week or so extra going to a buy a week and coming out and it doesn't feel like it's any better and so at some point in time you got to just pull the plug and then hope for you know you get you know rested and healthy and then you could potentially you know if we make a bowl game he could play or better yet you know he just got it invited and accepted down there in the senior bowl where he's got to be on it you know he's got a not not only he's got to be ready for a good showing he's got to be even maybe even like that much better because he had you know was hurt and then struggled at times this year yeah it falls into that space where you don't want a leader who lets the injury shut him down but you also have to think big picture and this is where sometimes the cliches get in the way of the real conversation listen you know can he can he play at a level that benefits him and the team is there somebody else that can step in and work at that level yeah allow them to do the things that they want to do because quite frankly if this is you know fairly Dickinson it's a different deal oh yeah then if it's a power game with Wisconsin and a top light receiver that they would put in a matchup with um whether it certainly comes into play and you're dipped if this game is in September um and the weather's you know 75-80 degrees there's some some flexibility there it's all in play it's not a win for for for Tommy um no I'm sure yeah you sure I'm sure you're rather been able to play um you know and you feel you feel bad for him you feel bad for the coaching staff to have deal with it but you you've got a hundred plus players yeah somebody's got to step up um that's a different tone we've heard from Matt Rule 2 I think Matt Rule is more disappointed for Tommy Hill than disappointed in Tommy Hill but Matt Rule doesn't just lift off list off games where guys gave up touchdowns that's not something he does and he did that for Tommy Hill that that was a little strange that was a little strange that was a little strange which makes me wonder what the conversations been I mean ultimately but buck stops with Matt Rule right if he doesn't want Tommy Hill out there it's got to be on him I wonder if Matt Rule feels like he wasn't maybe getting the full story and that's why Tommy Hill was out there or just disappointed that Tommy Hill you know kept pushing and hurt himself even more and it hurt the team and Matt Rule almost wishes he would have made this decision a couple weeks sooner so Nebraska might not be in this position right now it was a different tone it was weird well the their frustration showed and I don't want to speak for coach Rule but there are times when the coach has to walk up there again depending on the coach depends on the program you know where the the finger point goes and where the accountability lies um but also yeah I think you're closer to right in that maybe there were more details because Jay's never going to tell you know Marvel Eevee yeah go ahead and replace me no I fight you for it I fight you for it I mean it's well as a coach or at least if I was a coach I'm gonna trust my and I do this with my basketball kids like I I'm not gonna penalize you for being hurt I'm not like that I will stand on that but you have to be honest with me if you're healthy enough to play so that's the trust if you're healthy enough to play there's a standard you have to play up right and it and there's an there's an art to being able to be able to there's an art to having the ability to play hurt there or you just haven't came back from it and it could be mentally and physically or a combination of it and you're not playing well so for the betterment of you we got to just say let's just settle you down and let you just kind of get 100 percent healthy both mentally and physically so um look man i mean i know nobody in there last year at any school wants to come in and have a injury that's kind of you know if it's something like an ankle sprain and you're after back after a couple weeks there's no big deal you don't want something that lingers the whole season and essentially um you know it's kind of lingered all season so you know ultimately that you know there's some big news because you know you have a player that definitely fits well and can compete against Wisconsin but just hasn't been able to get it going and so you wish him the best you wish him to get healthy and then hopefully you know things work out for him in the future who's the guy for Nebraska on polling or see a guy that you'd prefer to sit in zone against uh i think you got to mix it up against Wisconsin or anything like that i mean that's the biggest thing i think you know against the Wisconsin's passing attack we have to do a really good job at the second third cut second third level of disguising coverages but then also getting them off when you have a young quarterback or a quarterback doesn't that doesn't have a lot of experience he's a backup quarterback is you want you don't want to have him to have any clear reads you want to get guys off their routes you want to mess up their timing to hopefully allow our pass for us to get there and get him off his spot so um you know Sierra Wright is done played well heart fog and and uh Buford i think you got um i'm gonna look or can i ask you a question about a heart attack remember the beginning season all season all the talk of him playing safety yeah he played safety right yeah so you saw a thing and you understood it then seeing him in nickel coverage with corner response built the last game yeah he was playing corner all right he wasn't a nickel i mean a nickel coverage is i mean he's he's playing a corner wouldn't you protect him from being in that sort of space i mean well yeah i think the guy that he was going to get last week was essentially six foot six it was pretty much like Harold Carmichael against Pat Fisher that's how i saw him Wisconsin doesn't have a six foot six receive now they got Pauling's pretty big and they got another one or whatever so um i mean the one in the end zone he just need to close his hands i mean that really wasn't a height thing i mean obviously if he was six two or six three like me you definitely make that probably a chest high then he i think he tried to jump and jump jump jump around then then yeah then the other one where he jumped the route i think you would like to see him no matter what his size is on that type of route deep out you want to see him go through the ball or through the player make the play on the ball he went for an interception made the tackle yeah you got to protect him i'm sure that Wisconsin's thinking like they're gonna try to take advantage the same way but you like to think that you have enough competitor that he'll compete that's one thing about that dude no matter what the size since he's been here he'll compete so i'm sure they'll adjust and then you got what Jeremiah Charles and some other guys that get a chance to play in half play to think Jeremiah Charles started maybe UCLA game where we're right at one of the home games and so those guys got to step up this is your opportunity a lot of times when you're a backup or rotation of player you're sitting over there waiting for your chance talking to yourself when i'm gonna do this when i'm gonna get it when i get to start when i was starting to put up a shut up and so ultimately you know the injury or Tommy Hill being hurt is gonna allow and in multiple ways for more guys to play and so when you get a chance to play number one you got to know your stuff number one number two you got to execute and number three you got to play like your hair is on fire this is a great opportunity um not only this game but the next game to really cement yourself and and kind of steal a spot by playing well and cement yourself you got to think this thing is a it's bigger than it obviously Wisconsin is the most important thing going on but if you're a young player a corner a nickel um a safety because sometimes you have to move guys around so that might you might get a promotion uh by like a demotion with Tommy Hill is you got to think about this big picture not only do i want to play well in Wisconsin and Iowa i want that when my name is brought up in the decision-making process moving forward which which it looks like we're going from 150 145 to 105 now you are and i i would feel if i play well which i would like to think i would have played well that i i'm not cemented but i'm definitely on more sturdy footing by playing well in a unique situation getting thrown in at the end of the season and a lot of guys hadn't played that much but i step up that means i'm going to gain the confidence of my teammates that are still here on the roster next year um new guys will know who i am and the coaching staff would will um i will have hopefully i would have a little bit more you know earned some of their confidence as well so it sets you up for future things by you taking care of your short-term opportunity right now and it's not just you're not just going to show up at 230 or 1230 when you show up to the stadium and take care of it it's something that you have to do during the week it's the end of the week now and you should have which has set you up for a good play on Saturday well i mean you know you know that i mean that's just everybody's been there i mean i always talk about the time look i went from being inactive playing special teams starting end up starting seven years in a row there's a thin line from being on the outside looking in and being right up in the mix and when you're in the mix when you're playing against a competitive team that it's not you're not going to most likely blow these guys out you're going to you're going to play an extended amount of plays you're going to have opportunities you're going to have a really really good opportunity no matter if you're rotating like say two to three guys are playing there or you're the starter coming up this Saturday to prove so well it it's interesting to think about that Husker fans are probably as hard on on on this team when things don't go well as Wisconsin fans are yeah Huskers are a point and a half favorite and because of that again the odds makers have pointed and projected the Huskers in a bowl game i i just need to keep reiterating there's nothing wrong that a win won't cure let's get the medicine let's just get it done yeah so we can have some of these different conversations and we can we can point yeah i mean different directions i mean i think people are going to complain either way after a loss or after a win but i'd rather hear your complaints after a win and that's not even what else they'll complain like why do you hire uh that coach dana earlier or you had to hire them so that's the only way you could get the bogey where the end of the day you're at a bowl game or or bowl eligible so more importantly the thing that i'm at the emphasize is this this is going to be a tough game if you're a competitor you should want it no other way because the elation and the and the the feeling after you go out and beat somebody not only that you hadn't beaten ten years but you go out there and earn it on senior day will be the type of drug that you need besides the uh short-term drug when you get on your little twitter fingers well or egg fingers to prepare and play as though it is your bogey it is your bogey again that to me is the message all along listen this this one focus go one and oh all the cliches use them all use them all because this one changes everybody's situation and circumstance yeah yeah i think uh takes a little bit anxiety out of there so as long as they uh you know fill up and do their thing they'll be just fine anyways we'll take quick break come back put a bow on this bad
