AP News, I'm Ben Thomas. Jurors coming and going, Norman Hall has the latest on Donald Trump's hush money trial in New York. A jury of 12 people has been seated and the court has quickly turned to selecting alternate jurors. Rapid progress propelled the case closer to opening statements in weeks of testimony in the case charging the ex-president with falsifying business records to suppress stories about his sex life in the final days of the 2016 election. The jury includes a sales professional, a software engineer, an English teacher, and multiple lawyers. The case centers on $130,000 Trump's lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen paid to porn actor Stormy Daniels. Trump faces 34 felony counts. He denies any wrongdoing. I, Norman Hall. In Washington, Trump's lost a bid to pause the string of lawsuits accusing him of inciting the U.S. Capitol attack. While Speaker Mike Johnson is trying to move a security package for Ukraine, Israel, and other allies, Sakamagani has details. Johnson has a plan for advancing the package that's been held up since October and is shrugging off threats from some Republicans to yank the speaker's gavel if he does. IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva says the outlook for the global economy is up, but there's still plenty to worry about noting inflation is down, but not gone. And in the U.S., strong economic performance has a flip side. This inflation is taking longer than expected. Damian Chorisi has AP market support. U.S. stock index is drifted to a mixed close. The S&P 500 fell 0.2 percent to market's fifth straight loss and its longest losing streaks since October. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 0.1 percent. The Nasdaq fell 0.5 percent following a mixed set of profit reports from big companies. Treasury yields rose following stronger than expected economic data. Not only is the number of labs across the country remaining relatively low, an index of manufacturing in the mid-Atlantic region showed growth unexpectedly accelerated.
