Welcome to the Professional Podcast Network, where brilliance meets business, elevate your brand, and supercharge your revenue with inspiring insights and innovation. Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the show. I'm your host, Matt, and right now I'm talking to Dr. Theodore Delate, who is the owner of West Center Psychology in Omaha, Nebraska. How are you doing today? Fine. Thank you. Good. So tell me a little bit more about you and your business. Well, I got into the line of psychology by way of education and school counseling. I found that a primary motivation has always been to try and understand and help people, and that continues to be my mission. So what inspired you to go into this line of work? Something I sort of grew into, I would not have known in high school that I would evolve into being a doctoral level psychologist. But as your values clarify, and I found that I wanted to help people understand the issues that they were having and seeing if there was some way I could help them to help themselves, and I sort of ended up where I did. I see. So what are some of the common problems that people tend to come to you with, and how do you help them out? What our current social science research indicates is, in any given year, about a one of every four people in the United States is going to have some sort of mental health symptoms, where they're feeling stress or discomfort, emotional pain, if you will, and unfortunately, there's only about half of that number that ever reach out for help of the people who do, they're usually very satisfied and glad later that they reached out for help, and often they wonder, "Why did I wait so long?" But our treatments are very effective, so every provider has to decide what they're going to be good at, what we call competencies, and then you have to have specialized training in many cases, and oftentimes supervised training, to be able to practice your craft with whatever population of people that you've trained to help. So over the years, trained to work with a variety of different people on a variety of different problems, but the goal is, in their treatment, is to use what we know works. Is there anything about you or your practice that you want our listeners to know about today? Mostly, just that I am committed to do the best job we can on each of the clients that I work with. I do a fair amount of court-related work, and so judges will decide who they rely on to do important work, and so I value that, and so I try to train the best so that I can do the best assessments and provide the best treatments to them. And for anyone who wants to learn more, what are the best ways to get in contact with you? Our office telephone number is area code 402-333-8210. Okay, well, I want to thank you again for talking with us today and sharing your story. You're very welcome. You're welcome. Take care. Thank you. Bye. For the rest of our listeners, stay tuned, because we'll be back with more guests after these messages.
