First in our warmups is we get people to gather around the campfire here. First one about Turkey Surprise. Turkey Surprise! What in the world? I was doing some work and some thinking and planning with the fam. And it looks as though things may play themselves out such that you can do a post-game show on Thanksgiving. There'll be a gap in when things are going on. So as soon as the game comes on, there are finishes. I can jump on. I can do a post-game show. Hang with everybody and do the good stuff. The Twitter, the DET, Lions Podcast, was the best place to get all the latest breaking on that. But we're doing everything to make that happen. So there you go, Turkey Surprise. Next thing. Let's see. Oh, Ryan Smucky. I got to say, he's in the chat here. He said, "I regularly listen to all the old episodes. Every frustrating loss and coaching mistake, it really puts into perspective how amazing this team is. There's still some nervousness, but what a time. Yeah, that's actually a really good comment for this next piece of the world, but a little bit of a throwback. And I want to talk about this because there's a guy named Awkward Vegetable on Reddit. Reddit's evolved. I mean, when we started this 10 years ago, it was 6,000 users in the subreddit. Now it's over 100,000 like something. And it's evolved a lot, right? But the creativity that people showed and the ability to kind of hook you with stuff, Sandman, you know, with what he was doing kind of in there. And that's where people found him mostly back in the day. And that kind of stuff. I mean, that's how we met him, right? That kind of stuff that people did was just fantastic. And Awkward Vegetable put something together. I've always said, I'm a sucker for a hype video. And it starts with this quote from Dan Campbell that I want to play. Just a little throwback quote because I think it's really on point ahead of this game this week and after the game against the Colts last week and how that felt. So I just thought this would be a good quote. I will say after this, he has the free train quote and then goes into Metallica with highlights and lines. It's a fantastic job. Awkward Vegetable. Great job putting that together. You're one of the, you know, there's shining moments in Reddit that exist still. And that was one of them. So I just wanted to highlight the quote. You brought it up, but I want to make sure that we got a chance to listen. Because again, after the Colts game and ahead of the Bears, this is a little bit more meaningful, I think. All right. Now there's a number of teams as it equates to just bear with me the ocean, right? There's a number of teams. They just barely get to the water. You got to get in the water to compete. The number of teams, that's all they get to. And there's a number of teams they are in the shallows. They come in a hurry, man, and they are all over your ass. They're all over your ass and they strike and move. They strike and move and they're dangerous, man. They just got to get a hold of them though. If you can just get a hold of them and you start dragging their ass out to the deep, dark abyss, you can drown them. And that's what we got to be. That's who we have to be because that's our domain. Because we'll tread water as long as it takes to fucking bury you. We'll go as long as it takes 'cause we can and we choose to. That's who we are. There you go. That is, I mean, he talks about that dragging them out to the deep, and the deep, dark abyss, and then drowning them. And it's a case of what this team was in this Colts game. They just outlasted them. They just pulled them out and they drowned them out there. The Colts lost because of the Lions defense in that game. I mean, it truly was. They didn't help themselves 'cause Anthony Richardson isn't like the best. Isn't the best arm in the league. But the defense, they had a plan. It was for him to run and to pick on Vildor. And that could have worked. That could have worked with that defense. They sacked up and they stopped. They held them without a touchdown. And that's what good teams do. They win games that otherwise are difficult games. They find ways to overcome where they otherwise wouldn't have in the past. And this team continues to do it. Every win isn't a sexy win. They're not all the Jacksonville win, right? But they're wins on the less than those wins matter. And this is exactly what this team did. And man, I think that really sets it up. And this bears game. I think this week is a really important game. And the bears, I think, are underrated, to be honest with you. I think the bears are underrated. The Lions come in short handed with these injuries into this game is an absolute setup. I think it's going to be an unexpected test for the Lions. I think they come on top. We'll talk about that. But I think this has all the makings, especially as a divisional game, where the surprise has always set. Phew, this is something. I mean, that quote really kind of hit just right right there. Yeah. This was one of this Colts game. And I talked about it. I just posted, I did my film review this morning and early afternoon. I posted my thoughts at Lionswire. Please check it out. I'll takeaways from the game. But one of the things that I think this Lions team is really good at is that they force opponents to come up to them. The Lions don't play down. And you saw it with like Tennessee and Jacksonville, they're just not capable of doing it. You saw Houston able to match the Lions for a half. Like, yeah, okay, like they brought themselves up. They couldn't sustain it. The Lions prevailed because they have better talent and clutch situations and better coaching. And I thought this game was somewhere in the middle of that. Like the Colts, they're five and 17. For the most part, they're probably better than that, but their quarterback doesn't always play to it. And weirdly in this game, I felt like Richardson got that down by his players. They dropped. I want to say it was four passes. They had several stupid penalties. They had several penalties where their offensive lineman tackled Elle McNeil. Or just a basketball. Yeah. Like the Colts just, they weren't capable of playing up to the Lions. They tried, but they weren't able to do it. And I think that that's sort of where the Lions sit. Like if you can match them, like match the intensity, match the fervor, match the, you know, not get dragged out into the abyss, you got a shot. But even then, it's going to be tough. Yeah. Yeah. It is, it is absolutely going to be difficult. And I'm not. We'll talk about it. We'll talk about that and everything associated with that Colts game. But anyway, that was a good, I think a good kind of little just set out the head of the, head of the game here this week. So future you faces some big expectations. Work out more. Go to bed earlier. Let's talk about this game. Riz, the thing that I noticed the most about the Colts gamer that hit me the most was it, there was such an awkward start stop sequence that it never seemed to be a good game. There never seemed to be a good flow with the forced commercial breaks. And then there happened to be the quarter end at the wrong time, which supports another commercial break in the middle of a drive. It was just like this herky jerky kind of, yeah, it just, it was, it had to be difficult to play in and where you can't get your flow right and you can't get going. But that was the thing that jumped out at me the most and just seemed everything seemed to be off because of it. Yeah. There wasn't, it was a rough watch, honestly, like if you were not a fan of the Colts or the Lions or you were watching that game, you probably would have switched it off. Yeah. Not that the teams weren't good, but yeah, there wasn't a real flow to the game. It was very, yeah, the Herky jerky is a good word for that. I mean, you had a couple of injuries where guys are like, okay, we got to take a commercial break now. And, you know, Jonathan Vilma was still trying to figure out what happened three drives ago and, you know, Kenny Alber is trying to spoon feed him as much as he can and just just didn't happen. Yeah. Yeah, that was. And I will say this, thank God for the, there were political ads because they had so many freaking ad breaks. Oh, God. Oh, yeah. Although I don't need to see any more cure auto ads or Alex Anseloni ads. Alex, I love you, dude. And that's the Bernstein ads with a minute or a little rough, but I'm glad he's getting endorsement dollars more of that, please. Yeah. Yeah. It just, it, yeah, it was a tough game to get any rhythm or establishment in it. And you know, some of that is that there were a lot of penalties too. It's just, it was, yeah, Alex Anseloni, my second favorite gator, but number one, yeah. He's trying to be right now, but whatever, that's part of the game. So, yeah, no, so there was that now. The weird part about this game is with that Herki Jerky ahead of the turkey. The score does not show the type of game that it felt like, like if you, if, if you walk away from that without knowing the score with just the feelings from that game, it felt like a lot closer game than that, that, that final score showed. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and so that is the fact that the Colts dropped a touchdown pass. They had another big play wiped out by a, it was legit penalty, but it wasn't penalty. You know, and the Lions, it felt like they could have done more, but they did more than enough in the same breath. And I think that's something that, you know, you were, we, we got used to the, you know, the blowout wins over Dallas and, and Jacksonville and Tennessee where the, you know, we're putting up Boffo points at will, and that didn't happen in this game. And it felt like it felt to me like a lot of Lions fans going into it expected the Colts to be terrible and they're not terrible. And I think some, some people learned that the hard way, like the Colts were probably better than what I think most of our fan base gave them credit for being because they looked at their record. They looked at Anthony Richardson's completion percentage. You're like, Oh, they're bullshit. They're not. They're just always in the wildcat, you know what I mean? They, they are, they, they, I feel for Anthony Richardson, man, because most of, and I absolutely still believe this. Most of his problems are the fact that he hasn't played enough rather than he's bad. He's not great yet, but I'm starting to throw the baby in the bath water out. I feel like that was, that was what his 20th football game he started in his life. I feel like the, I feel like when I say it's, they're running the wildcat all the time. I feel like Montgomery is as good a quarterback as Anthony Richardson. I've very little to base that on, right? I said, I feel like that, but I'm not saying he is. Do you want to get a fun game? His, the, the, the rope he threw to La Porta for that touchdown, right? I mean, it was, it was a great throw. It was a great throw and the spiral on that was better than a golf ball, at least on average. Hello, man. Golfs look pretty good this best. You know what's something, what I think I noticed about Anthony Richardson is when he tries to act like a quarterback, when he steps, the steps into the ball, throws the ball, like, like, like all the proper technique, he does terribly. And he slicks that ball out there out of his wrist. He can land a long ball in a, in a, in an Apple basket from 50 yards. It's weird. When his mechanics are off, it's, it's just, it's just that weird. When you see him flick that ball, you're like, it's on target. I know it before it even lands, but when he's like, forget it, forget it, man, he cannot throw like a normal quarterback. It's kind of the anti golf in that record. Yeah. It's, it's funny. Yeah. And they're, they're, they're, the Colts are probably, you know, we're done with them thankfully. We swept the AFC South. That's very cool. Yeah. AFC South champs. Detroit Lions. We have another who we have an opportunity coming up to sweep the NFC North, at least the first four years. This is interesting. The NFC North is, I think it's the first time in history that three teams in a division all have eight wins at this point in the season. Wow. And it's, it's absolutely the toughest division in, in the, in the league. We've beaten the second and third team. Now we've got to play the low. The only team that didn't hit the eight win mark, which hopefully it bodes well. But they're tough out. We'll talk about it. We'll talk about that. But Colts game. Any other take? They are, they're not to be slept on with the current roster we've got. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Well, currently no pants shitters on the roster, but we'll talk about that in a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. No, that was, we got through that game. The injuries, it felt a little bit like that was part of the town. And again, those broke up the floor of the game, but then it was always just like you see these guys going out and getting hurt and Montgomery going, no, not money, right? Oh, yeah, speaking of that, huh, that's beautiful, gives money, a little sonic and knuckle shirt there. Straight lines podcast.com. The merch store. Check it out. That's a good one. There's a coach reference. I understand. Uh, anyway, the Colts, 26, the six, it's a win. You take every win you can get the good teams to, you know, win bad games, good teams win bad games. They didn't score a touchdown with Kiggle, Vildor and Khalil Hodges as our cornerbacks on the final two drives. What? They still couldn't score. What's Glenn got those glasses dried off? Nobody's putting touchdowns up. 10 quarters in a row. They've gone without allowing a touchdown. Yeah. Yeah. That's, I don't care who you're playing. That's impressive. Yes. Damn impressive. Playing it without Aidan Hutchinson, Alex Anseloni, Marcus Davenport, Carlton Davis has a broken thumb and is playing out there. They are so banged up and they are still getting it done. That's, that is a testament to AG, but also the depth and also the, the, the, the ability of the guys who are there to just, only McNeil was phenomenal against Indianapolis. He's phenomenal, dude, man. And it like, you see him on the field and he looks like he's out there to, to absolutely murder somebody. Right. But you, you see him around the facility or a training camp or just around. He's the sweetest. He's chill. Yeah. Wonderful person, like just a heart of gold. What a dude. What a dude. Um, but you know, between those lines, it's a, it's a whole different guy in the, inside that helmet, but a good stuff. So anyway, lions walk all over the Colts, call that one another win, chocolate in the books, four days arrest until we have another game for, we talk about that game. Let's talk about some of the injuries. Let's do a little bit. We got a little bit. There's a couple of things we're going to talk about here, getting over the injuries flexing our depth and a little bit of attribute to Brad Holmes. And then we'll talk about some of the, the, the action that's going on in the background with, uh, with the players. So raise, I'm going to let you kind of take, you take the mantle on this one and kind of suck this topic up on, on the conquering and flexing. The holidays are back at Starbucks. So the depth, I just talked about a little bit, they're getting Rodrigo got a game ball in this past game, and I think that's very emblematic of how good the depth has been stepping up and he deserved it, by the way, and I put that in my notebook. He was phenomenal in this game. There was a play, so they are very big on having Jonathan Taylor as one of the better running backs in the NFL. And the Lions held Jonathan Taylor and I'll credit Nate Atkins for my beat writer for the Lions, who has covered the Lions for the Colts for the Indianapolis Star for a while now. And he wrote it, that Jonathan Taylor had never had this few yards with ten or more carries in a game, 11 carries 35 yards. Rodrigo ended a lot of those and there was one in specific that really stood out to me and it was the play after Richardson hit the deep ball to Alec Pierce that set them up. It was first in 10 from the 11 and Rodrigo damn you took the hand off on the next play because he knew exactly what was going to happen on it. And that held them to a field goal on that drive. That's the type of step up play that not a lot of teams can get and Rodrigo was fantastic in it. Zadari Smith has come in and played very well. You saw Josh Paskel last two weeks has played really good football, I'm not sure PFF agrees with my assessment on that but I think he's played very well. You get guys Ezekiel Turner, who the hell knew who he was? If you watch the game you're like 47, 47, who is that? The guy who's making tackles, the guy who's running step-for-step with their tight end in coverage, that's Ezekiel Turner folks, he stepped his ass up. They're doing so good with that. Kendall Vildor, God bless him, he did not have a good game. He's not supposed to be playing like they're playing without Taryon and his race draw goes away, doubtful he's back this year. So you lose, you're starting outside corner and his backup within 24 hours, like okay, yeah, you kind of expect him to struggle a little bit, you know, this guy wasn't expecting to play, he, he, he, he wasn't good but those circumstances were such that it was very tough for him, you know, they, they're finding guys, man, you saw Brandon Joseph step in in that one game where Brian Branch got ejected, like they're just finding guys and they, they're so ready to step in to the roles that they need but I, what I really credit AG and I'll credit the position coaches on this for Tarell Williams up front, Calvin Shepard, Jim O'Neill who's an assistant on the side who does a lot of the quality control and work like that. They have, they know when these guys come in, okay, I can't ask, you know, I can't ask Rodrigo to, to run in coverage with Anselone, like the way Anselone because Anselone was their best coverage linebacker. So we're not going to ask him to, we're going to play more split safety, we're going to scheme out of it and we're going to play to the strengths of the guys who are on the field. You saw a lot more cover too in this game than you would see from the Lions all year. Yeah, exactly. One of the reasons why Brian Branch didn't play well because he's not a cover to safety. He's a cover, one cover for Robert. They didn't play him in that role because they played three linebackers a lot. Ben Neiman, Ezekiel Turner, David Long coming in, they, they, they didn't just plug and play like they, they adapted and I think that's such a under appreciated coaching strength of what they've done, especially with the defensive side of the ball. Yeah. I tell you, you know, the thing, there's two, I want to, I want to number one credit homes for finding these guys that look, Holmes found Vildor, but I'm going to tell you, there's not a whole lot at that level of depth out there that's better than Vildor. It is what it is, right? I mean, these are your number six quarterback. Yeah. Yeah. And, you know, you wind up with the players you have, no team has perfect, perfect starters or perfect depth. Again, the Colts, if you were to put, I don't know, Patrick, my homes. I'm just pulling him out. That's a team that's, that could do a whole hell of a lot of damage in the NFL. You give them a quarterback that's, that's really competent or maybe just an offensive line. Maybe that's what Richardson needs to be able to be really, but there's, that's where they're kind of their gaps are, right? And their line is probably two people, maybe three people away. I mean, you don't need five guys across there to change the, change the future. Keep in mind too, they were without their starting left tackle and they're starting center in this game too. Yeah. Yeah. No team is perfect because you have a salary camp and you can't pay enough players to get the best players that are positioned. That's, that's part of why it's such a competitive league, right? And so for a team to be able to find players now, I'm going to call them discount players, but I don't want to discount the quality of these guys. I mean, they're in the fricking NFL after all, right? But Kendall Vildor is a great example of a guy who's a quality player. No, he's not a starter, but he's really quality depth guy who they knew, they knew we got, we're going to pick on him with Terriana out. That's where their weakness is going to be. Why? Because we have a really, really strong defense that we're, we're known for our defense. If I go really quick to, to PFF, I got it right here. Our defense is ranked number two in the league, number two. So what would you do? Like, how do you beat the number two defense? You find the weakest part and you try to exploit it, right? I mean, that's just, and that's, so what do you do as a defense? You do exactly what, you know, what, what Riz was talking about. So I want to first just to reiterate, Brad Holmes getting these guys in here, right? And being able to manage the capital way he does and getting these, this quality of player in there. And then the coaching staff, whether it's A.G., the positional coaches, being able to help these guys grow. And this is where, like, we can talk about Tommy Cutlets and the, and the lions look at him, that kind of thing shortly, right? I think he's another one of those guys who, and we'll look at the Giants. They quite had terrible years with the Giants. I mean, he was, he, look how great he is with the Eagles. He's, he's a fantastic back, right? I mean, any other back that wasn't as good as him would have been even worse in New York. I have with their, not Tommy Cutlets, or Danny Dimes, sorry, but yeah, Danny Dimes replaced by Tommy Cutlets, so he's not good. Yeah, but, but you're right, but Danny Dimes just might be, Danny Dimes just might be in the right regime, the right coaching staff, and we've seen that. This is one of the things I think that happens to a lot of players and might happen to Anthony Richardson, might happen to Caleb as we see the Bears right now falling apart. If they continue to get their asses handed to them, they could wreck another quarterback in Chicago. Ebert Flus could, could, could, could tank another quarterback. The Bears could tank another quarterback if, if that continues the way it is over there. These, these poor kids get into these situations, and there's so many kids that are now playing for a team rather than staying at a school, developing, becoming better at their craft. And so they get into the NFL and they're not ready and you're seeing all of these young quarterbacks that came in that were all the rage and then benched and they're not playing or they're under fire and they're everywhere. Whereas at Jordan Love sat for a couple of years and sat behind Aaron Rodgers and learned and also stepped out as, as almost a veteran starter like veteran rookie, if you will, right? They learned, Anthony Richardson, you talk about he needs to play more football a little time behind somebody would help him immensely. You look at Hendon Hooker, he has a luxury right now of having time behind. This is a case where you this he's a guy that could really sneaky jump out and play guy like Danny Dimes, Danny Jones. Maybe that's what he needs. Maybe he needs a little bit of time to see what it's like, what being a professional quarterback in the NFL is and some development opportunities. It could be a big win. That's why I think the Lions are looking at them just to see like, what could we get out of this and what can we have? Will they land him? Who knows? Who knows? We'll see. I would be extraordinarily surprised if they landed him. It's more of checking the necessary, like, okay, he's out there. Can we use him? That type of thing. My sense from talking to a couple of people around Allen Park is that they're not really interested, but they're not going to say no, like if he wants to come to Detroit. He offers more if Jared Goff goes down right now than Hendon Hooker does, assuming he can pick up the offense. First off, the Lions, it's very strange to me that all summer there was a very strong contingency of Lions fans. Like, Hendon Hooker's great, he should be challenging Goff, and now many of those same people are like, oh my God, we got to get somebody better than him to be a backup. Like, I -- We're on Chan, Jared. Go get that. Don't get that. But okay. But I will say, I know the Lions coaching staff has a lot of faith in ending hooker if Jared Goff goes down. Yeah. Would they have that in Daniel Jones? I think they would. Whoa. I think they would. I think they probably would. And that's why they would bring him in. That plays out, and it's always a mutual thing. The Lions, if you can get Daniel Jones for your number three, for the right price, sign him up. The Lions, any team -- It's way better than Nate Sunfeld. Any team would do that all day long. And I think, like you said, you could put Danny Dimes out there in two weeks once he learns the book. You can put him out there before you can put Hendon out there. He's much more game ready than Hendon Hooker is. The other part is, like I said, if you get him for light money, you upgraded the point, hey, good to go. I think there's a lot of teams out there that would love it. But, like I said, it's a two-way street. Danny Dimes could be on a team. Maybe he signs a smaller contract to Detroit, but he has a really good shot of winning a ring. And you took about the Nick Foles effect of what happened. That could happen to you. That could happen to you. And you could capitalize big on something like that if you showed up. And if you want to develop and you want to kind of fit your role and find how it can work, you look good with a Ben Johnson. You look good with a Detroit lion. So I think that's it right there. That's it right there. And so it could happen. He's playing for his next contract. Yeah. And his next contract won't be in Detroit. Right. Every day, supporters like you help the American Cancer Society improve the lives of people with cancer. Help end cancer as we know it. For everyone, visit cancer.org to make a life-saving gift. But you could be a bridge. And one of the things that will happen is he's going to learn from Ben Johnson. He's going to get coached by Mark Brunel and JT Barrett, who is a freaking rising star. You're going to see JT Barrett get a lot of run as an offensive coordinator this offseason. I'm just going to say that right now. Whether it's in Detroit, replacing Ben, if Ben moves on, which we don't know at all if that's going to happen, but this is a name to know if you're looking for young people on the rise in the coaching circles, JT Barrett is absolutely one of them. But for Jones, he's going to be like, okay, he's going to be absorbing all that. He's going to get coached by that. He's going to prove by being on the roster, not even having to play. These guys see something in me and I'm going to learn from them. And that's going to make him that much more appealing this offseason when a team like Las Vegas or Cleveland is looking for a new starting quarterback or a guy to compete to start next season. Jones, it won't, it will not get that opportunity in Detroit, but Detroit can be a springboard for him to do that. And that that's where it wouldn't make sense from his part. Now the other, I'll just say this, I said this yesterday when I was on the huge show. San Francisco desperately needs a quarterback who can come in right now because Brandon Allen ate it and Brock Purdy might not be ready for a couple of weeks. And Jones, look, he can't play this week, but there's a chance for him to go into a very quarterback-friendly system and play right away on a team that, well, they're in last place and sinking fast, so they might not be a playoff team anymore. But let's just say if you're Daniel Jones and you've got a chance to go in and say, man, he's playing the Shanahan system with some pretty good receivers, George Kittle, their line isn't bad, they got Christian McCaffery, like, I can revive myself here and get something out of that. And I think that's much more appealing for him. The other one that gets brought up all the time is Minnesota backing up Sam Darnold in a very, remember, their coach is a quarterback, Kevin O'Connell, very friendly system, very good, wide receivers. You can do a lot worse than throwing to Justin Jefferson and Addison and Hopkinson and Aaron Jones on the backfield like this, so they make sense, too, but I would be very surprised if the Lions wind up getting him or a variety. Yeah, for sure. I just think I don't think that that door's shut, and like you said, he's playing for his next contract, he's going to think about this, if he gets a starring role, put it this way, his next contract could be as a backup. He hasn't proven himself yet to be worthy of being that starter. He may get a chance somewhere, right? He may, but what does he want to do this year and how does he want to get there and how does he does it, you know, it's, I think it's more about what he wants than anything else because I don't think, look, he's got all kinds of guaranteed cash out of the giants. I think he can, he can pause and I'll be honest with you. He may want to, he may embrace the role of being a backup. He very well, may well say, you know what, I was in New York, the most heated market in the world taking shit. I just want to carry a clipboard for a while, make NFL money, be around the NFL and I want to be a coach. Not just my next contract, I'm thinking about my next job, right? I want to, I want to go into coaching because I think that's where I can really make a difference. We don't know what's in his head, but there's a lot that could happen with the, with the Danny Dime situation. Is there a chance he lands in Detroit? Sure. Would it be a good play? If, if, if every, if Brad Holmes makes a deal, yeah, it's a great play because I know Brad Holmes will make a great deal, right? That's just where things are. So we'll see what happens. It's an interesting kind of change of events and for crazy plays. I wouldn't, I wouldn't put money on him, landed in Detroit. I'll put it though. No. Interesting thought exercise though. And by the way, and I'll preemptively nip this in the bud. Any signing of Daniel Jones does not indicate any dissatisfaction on the lions part about Hendon Hooker because you know that's going to come. Yeah. Yes. You know what's going to come. Yeah. Yep. Yep. Oh, they're giving up on Hooker. What are they doing? Yeah. I can hear, I can hear that from 97 one, even though I'm out of your shot. I can hear it still, luckily across the airwaves, Don Burr out there, Detroit, 33 bears 16. We're tired of hearing about them playing us tough ass tapping time. I hope so, Don. I hope so. We need to, we have a one of Thanksgiving and forever. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's the one thing kind of going for us. All right. So let's also talk about where we got the injuries going on. Right? The coaching staff. The second year. What the hell? The coaching staff has been fantastic. What developing the players, the homes has been really fantastic about getting the right people in here. James Houston today, the news came out, was released and he is no longer a Detroit lion. Um, it's that's, that's some crazy shit. It's tough. It's tough shit. I mean, gosh, it's the lions put this one on a T 40. Yeah. Yeah. What a load. James Gunn. Look, I feel bad for the guy at number one. That's, I feel, I don't want to say, I feel more bad for him about the, the, the brown trousers thing, but the guy got injured and he just wasn't right afterward. I feel terrible form. I hope genuinely, I hope that he has this time where he's now released. He goes and he rehabs harder and wherever he lands next year where the lines are somewhere else, he comes back to what he was. That would make me really, really happy because it's just, it's just horrible to see somebody kind of go through what he did with an injury, just stopping that growth and progress, man. He's, he's the classic supernova, you know, um, and that incredible, I think folks forget he didn't make the team as a rookie like, and it was like not one of us who were that training can't put him on the final 53, like our final 53 projections were like, he's, he's an easy cut. So what he did, that, that, that makes what he did that at the end of that rookie season, that much more remarkable. And I, I hope that he can parlay that into another opportunity elsewhere. It was really, really, really clear this summer that he was not cut from the same cloth as the, as what his compatriots are along the line. I mean, it was shocking to me that he made the team this year, honestly. Yeah. And, um, for a team that is as desperate for edge depth as what the Detroit Lions are for them to give up on him, I think it says a lot about his football characters that he just couldn't fit in well enough. Yeah. Yeah. Like this is, this is not even moving that the Lions wanted to make, but it just wasn't ever going to happen. And they came to that realization. Um, that's it. I mean, when you're getting cut in favor of Akadeen Muhammad, uh, who's a weekly inactive and might be inactive again this week, yeah, that it's time to move on. Uh, I hope you find somewhere else. Like you said, he needs to aggressively rehabilitate his, his ankle as best as he can. And I know he did, I know he did work with it with the Lions, but he, he's physically not capable of being the same player that he was and he has not adapted, and we talked earlier about, you know, adapting your game and your scheme to what you can and can't do. He never adapted his game to not having that bend. And I don't know if he can, but some other team will have to find that out. Yeah. It sucks because he, he was a genuinely like likable guy, but man, it was pretty clear that early on that he was not going to be somebody that he trusted a lot. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Be diplomatic. Uh, yeah. It's unfortunate. So James, James, uh, he's, he's not there. So now is the question you've, you've, you've got a spot open on the roster and Daddy Dimes is out there, but there's also somebody else who's actually familiar with the, the Lions and plays in a very similar role actually in Charles Harris, who's now has an opportunity to see employment elsewhere, we'll say, um, he's familiar with the system. He's free. What do you think? And this, this is a question that came from, um, yeah, from the Twitter machine. Um, do you think Charles Harris gets a look, Charles Harris gets a look in Detroit or do you think they're going to kind of say that the Harris experiment is over? And Mr. Holmes has something else up his sleeve. So I, I will first say I don't, I haven't talked to anybody about this. My, my general inclination on this is that Charles Harris, like if they wanted him, they would have kept him around because he certainly wanted to stay here. He looked and I, and we talked about it before we went on the air here, um, I haven't watched every Panthers game, but the last one that I watched like in depth was against Washington and he looked really done, like no legs left. And I don't know if he's like, he's playing in Carolina. Well, it could be, I don't know, uh, I don't feel like anyone's going to try really hard there. They're getting better. That by the way, them benching Bryce Young worked and I'll say for the Colts, them benching Anthony Richardson sort of worked a little bit like he played better than a stand line showed against Detroit. Yeah. That's, that's for a different show, but, uh, Harris was the consummate, like try hard, good guy, greats he made, but not what you needed him to be on the field anymore in Detroit last time, um, now, now there are certain slowly extenuating circumstances. He's competing against Al-Kadim Muhammad and tobacco Zideria Smith and Josh Paskel. And, you know, uh, you're seeing less of Levi outside, but maybe he can get back outside more. I don't know, man, I, I, I would welcome him back. I like Charles Harris and what he offered, but on the field, man, he's, I'm not sure he offers enough to, to bring him back rather than somebody else, but, but the, the pluses are he knows the system. He knows the teammates. He knows how he's going to be coached. He's a veteran. He was a team captain. Like I think that, I think that says a lot of feathers in his cap coming back. Yeah. If you were to come back. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. I mean, um, he's on, he's, he's on the, the, the, the rolladex on the phone. We can call him, but I don't want to, I don't want to, you know, I don't want to just out of the blue. Come on. I'm not sure. I'm looking, I'm looking now at the Lions practice squad because I, it wasn't fresh in my mind. I'm not sure that he's better than, I mean, yeah, oh, wow. That's, I mean, I say, Thomas is there, Michelle Lagude, who was great this summer is there. I would rather give those guys shots, honestly, than bringing back Charles Harris, who's you know, much older. I don't know, man, Isaac, he was on the roster for a while. Like, I'd rather give the young guys a shot, honestly. I don't know what the Lions are going to do on that. I guess they are straight up. Yeah. I would be me, I would give a young guy a shot. I would say right now, and I say this not trying to insult anybody, but they're scraping the bottom of the barrel right now, and they cannot afford any more injuries. That's where like a pickup, you, you have a roster position open now, right? It's the who's, who's out there is who's out there that they could pick up better than Charles Harris to help fill that role of, I mean, there's nothing, there's nothing out there. I mean, he just won't release James Houston, who's who I'm looking at it right now. He is instantly at the top of the available free agents list on, on Pro Football Network. He is number one on the available free agents list. Yeah. That tells you what's out there. Yeah, yeah, it's going to be, okay, say this though, I don't think that the Lions cut James Houston without a plan that they're not doing what they did with Eric E. Brown when they're like, we don't like this guy. We're going to cut him. Well, who's your tenant? Oh, I don't know. Somebody is so like they're not doing that. Right. Full faith in that. Oh my God. That was such a cluster. Oh my God, that still bothers me. You brought it up at the beginning of the show, we talked about how much they've changed. When a regime cuts your starting tight end out of spite and doesn't have a plan B, C, D or E, like at all, that's what that team did. Fuck, we've come so far. It's great. Yeah. So happy we are where we are. The journey, you know, you know, it's one of the things to watch and coach Campbell recognize the journey they're on and recognize the guys, the Ragnaros and the Ducks and the guys that have been there through this and made the taking the journey with them and kind of led the team. I mean, it's good to recognize your past and those from that who carried you to your future when the future is so bright. And it's I think it's really good to recognize that and how meaningful it is to coach Campbell because I think it means something to those guys too, not just the guys he's recognizing, right? So it's a team to see that we will from the depths of the bottom of the Quinn ocean. There were still guys that we can use and that we can carry and who have the made of the right stuff that are ready to plan a team like this. You could be that guy too. You could be that guy. If you just keep playing hard, working hard and being the kind of player that you dream you can be, then then you can be here for a long time and for the successful times as well. Okay, we're going through the quarterback list right now. Let me see. We have a third quarterback, it's Jake from State Farm and then it was like, no, Saint Brown's our third Jack Fox is our quarterback for almost here. Jack Fox is number four, Monty is number five and now we've got Dan Skipper. Thanks to Brandon, Brandon care, Dan Skipper is quarterback number six and look, there's nobody he can't see over. You're going to test personally, he can throw too, like I've seen him do it. I just, I just have this wild sense of the wild cat with Skipper. Who's broken throat? Who is not going to make a business decision with Dan Skipper coming at him? I'd like to know who that player is because that's the next person I'm signing up for CTE in the NFL because you don't jump in front of a guy like that at speed. That's nuts, man. God, Samuel Porter has played some quarterback. So he's probably on that list, we'll put him number seven guys trying to think I'm trying to think of who else has played some quarterback Kirby Joseph played quarterback a little bit in high school. Yeah. He was also a center in volleyball. So he kind of understands how to distribute things. Yeah. I'm always in with the volleyball girls, but that's a different story. All right, let's get to the next topic. Aaron Glenn, get in a serious run on the coaching jobs. Riz. He's getting higher somewhere, period and don't know where could be New Orleans, could be Dallas, could be the Jets, could be the Giants, when they fire Brian Dable, perhaps as early as this week. It could be the bears when they decide to leave Matt Eber Flus in Detroit after they lose 40 to six. Who knows? Aaron, let's get in that coaching job. Yeah. There's like just, it's not even worth discussing if it's where. Yeah. And absolutely fair enough. Yeah. He's, he's proved it. He's earned it. The fact that he takes so much leadership positions, you can see it in his press conference is he didn't used to prepare for those. Now he comes in and every Thursday morning, he's like, he's got a little bit of a prepared opening statement. He's more ready for questions. He's less belligerent with bad questions, which I kind of, I kind of like when they badger people with bad questions, but wait, you like, when they bad, wait, who badgers who with bad questions? I like it when, when they're, when, when a coach is asked a bad question that they push back on it. I like that. Okay. I like the boss who asked the questions and you'll notice, I don't ask questions because I know I'm not good at it. I like it when bad questions get called out. I like that. Yeah. Me too. This is why I love it. Love Cleveland media. Because they have the stupidest questions. It's like they've got five carloses in that room. Well, in the dumbest, how good does it feel to be 10 and one? Doesn't it feel good to be 10? Like, what the fuck? What a stupid question. Like those kind of like setups. How's it? No. Your job. Your job. There's, you know, like, when people do the, yeah, yeah, people do the, I'm going to do a mailbag. Ask me questions and I'll answer them. Cool. You should look at that because that's the things that people want to know and you're the conduit of information, conduit of information to the fucking public. Don't sit there and ask, how does it feel to be 10 and one when you've got a whole sack of mail that you use just to grind out content that you could use for real questions that really people really care about. Please, like, that's your role. It's not self-serving. It's not all this other crap you've made out to be. Ask good questions that people care about. They're going to inform them about the thing that they want to know about. Not how does it feel? Everybody knows how it feels to be 10 and one. Are you looking for, are you trying to win on Thanksgiving? Is it important you to win? Come on. Come on. It's bananas. So anyway, AG, like, so here's the thing and look, no dust here, pure speculation. AG, I think, has the motivation to take another job. I think he truly wants it. I think he deserves it. I think both of our coordinators deserve a head coaching position if they really want it. I think AG really is hungry for that because I think it means something to him and I think it's part of his growth plan that he's had all along and I think that Campbell's done a lot to help prep him for that. I think Ben, Johnson, and look, his kids are grown. He's in a different season of life right now, right? Then Ben Johnson is. He is. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Ben, Ben, is it a place where, like, we were talking about this a little bit, but Mike Martz was an offensive coordinator for a long time before he took over from Vermeel, right? Did you think about that, Mike Martz was a happy, happy camper as offensive coordinator for a long time, smartest man in football, still known as one of the most intelligent men in football, right? Any coach for what? Four years for the cards and twos for, for, out of the world. You see all this Rams and then two for the truck. Every play is designed to score a touchdown. Yeah. Yeah. A hundred percent. A certain one. I don't care. Yeah, it's, it's, it's pretty nuts. So it's, you know, I just think where Ben's at. He's going to make the money. He will continue to make good money. I think his family is happy. He's happy. And look, if they have one bad year, it's not going to wreck his chances of getting a coaching job. He's still going to be the hot commodity for a coach. Right now he's checked. He can already go and have a bad year next year and still be a hot commodity to take a get a coaching job out in the league. If that's what he wants. I think I really think that he's going to play this out and, and maybe kind of set himself as the heir apparent for Campbell, but I don't think Campbell's going anywhere for a long time. But I just think that they, yeah, I think that they have a kind of vibe that at least, I think Ben can ride this for five years and it wouldn't bother him. I don't think it would bother him compensation being right. All those other things. I don't think it would bother him because he loves it so much. And he loves how he works, who he works for, how he works. And the amount of time that he already puts in as an OC to almost double it to be head coach, right, is, is a lot to ask for, for somebody with kids and a family that he really cares about spending time with. I, I just, I think he's very, very happy. I don't think he's as likely to be pulled away or lured away as an AG, just season a life alone. You know? Yeah. And AG, like the fact that he played in the league does mean something. I think that you're seeing a recent hires, Domenico Ryan's, Jarrod Mayo, although it's not working out very well for Mayo, like guys who played, who players that are coming in, were like, Oh, I remember that dude, like I saw him play, I'm going to respect that. AG has that, if you, we all remember AG from, from his playing days, so all of us in different stages and others. But like, yeah, like as soon as he was like, Oh, I remember him, he played for the chest with the Cowboys, but for Texans, like there's a good player. Yep. Yep. And that, that seems to be what players and what, what teams are looking for is people like Dan Campbell, like Domenico Ryan's, who resonate with current players who can understand what they're doing. There, it's not a prerequisite for it. I actually think Matt Lefler in Green Bay, I'll say something very nice about him. I think he's, I think the players love him and love playing for him because they know he respects them and vice versa. Not every new coach gets that. It just doesn't work that way, but, but I think that's a, that's another feather in his cap, is that A.G. played recognizably. And there was the thing last year, I forget who did it, but he was voted the number one coordinator in the league, even coming off of not a very good defense to be kind. Just go, just remind for a second, let's go back to like after the draft, and we were talking like, God, if this defense is even like top 20, we're going to be so good. Would you say they were two? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like our expectations were maybe they can be the league average. They're numbered two. That's A.G. That's why he's getting the job, part of why he's getting a job. Yeah. Yeah. And where was it? I think they're awful because the team expects it or they lose access. They're talking about the press. Carlos would have been long gone if that was the case, right? So that's that's that's that's, that's, no, that's something I'll put the kibosh on that teams don't revoke access. They need it or they should say they think they need it and I'll go back to my Cleveland base for a second. Tony Grossi on the on the Cleveland Browns flagship station on a show promoted by the Browns and so called Baker Mayfield a bleep and bleep on air live. They thought he didn't know it was live, but like if ever there was a time to revoke somebody's access, what they do, nothing, no, so, so I think to be, to be fair, the NFL as a product in particular right now, it doesn't need the press itself. The press is dying begging to be in there. It's for so many people. That's their badge of honor. That's what makes them valuable. See, see, I'm here, I'm here, it makes this is my credibility rather than asking good questions. That's their currency. Years ago, the NFL needed the press, right? And now with the live streaming of the press conferences, all you need, it doesn't even matter who's in there. If you get people asking good questions, it doesn't matter what coverage you're getting there because you can cover it in the press conference. Now the locker room interviews and that kind of stuff, but I go I defer to what we've been saying this for 10 years, right? And a lot of people seems the last couple of years and have jumped on and now he's gone on his own and it's great. Justin Rogers epitomizes the ability to be able to do that and do that well. Ask thoughtful, wonderful questions to, you know, get into the locker room, develop stories, right? That's, that's it. When you're writing a story about a story that someone else wrote, you're probably not doing journalists. You don't need to be there for that. Wait, somebody, if you're doing it, let me write a story on my blog. That's, that's a whole lot, like different than it's, yeah, that is, that is very different. There's a lot of, I'll say, I think Burkett, when he gets a chance to do long form stuff, does very good with that. He think he's in a stressful situation. I don't know for a fact. I think, I think when he gets to do things like that, he does very well at it. I think Ben Raven does a very good job of getting to know players and ask questions in the locker room. Yeah. And I'm not saying that because Ben could rip my arms off and beat me over the head with them. He's a great guy. You know, I'll, I'll say no one Bianchi has, has taken over Justin's spot at the Detroit News and has done a very good job of creating stories with players and, and I know, because I've watched him do it, he's very good at interviewing players in the locker room and getting to know them and creating bonds with them that you get things out of that, like I unfortunately can't, I don't get that access during the year. I'm credentialed, but I don't, I physically can't beat her the three hours away. I get over there as much as I can, but it's not nearly often enough to do things like that. And it's frustrating. I, I, now I will say I have enough relationships with enough people that I can text them and get responses, but it's not the same. I think the thing they need to do is something similar to the University of Michigan. When they walk out, they tap those who stay OB champions, right? They need to put the sign over the entrance, the killer Kowalski media room and tap it on the way in and realize, recognize fucking killer Kowalski worked here, try to live up to that standard, try, try, try, just try, right? Don't sit there and do the silly stuff. So anyway, that's that crazy, crazy. Okay. Aaron, AG getting serious run for age head coaching jobs. I, I think that's, that's the case. It's going to be, it's going to be a little bit of a distraction potentially for him as we're making our Super Bowl run here at the end of the season as they're trying to jump on interviews and all those conversations. But, um, it's, I, I wish him the best. I think the funniest part about that though is, is the, the, the kind of just F you to the people that were calling for his job last year, who are going to be boo-hoo and when he goes and finds a job after this year, it's, it's like, you were obviously not qualified to judge the quality of talent of a coaching staff, just kind of shut up when you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. That's probably a good idea. So there's been a lot of that going on lately, um, by the way, uh, and Brandon, thank you for, for, uh, sending me the message, uh, Charles Harris was claimed off waivers. Who liked the Philadelphia Eagles? Great. No conversation. You can delete that section on your audio part. I don't keep it because it was thoughtful. It was thoughtful. It was, it was thoughtfully provocative, but, um, it's a moot point, but just to reset, the Lions are dead last actually in the waiver claim process right now. It goes by inverse record. Um, so if you have the draft order, if you flip it, that's what the, the waiver claim is. So the Lions right now are number 32. Uh, so every other team gets a shot to claim it. Um, good, good for Charles. Right. That's interesting in and of itself that he's an equal now because the Eagles are our biggest competition. Um, pretty clearly, but, yeah, not afraid of them. I want to play in my Detroit and I won't play in Philly, but I'm not afraid of. All right. Let's see. We got, we got another topic to hit real quick and we want to talk about this one. Aaron, glad best of luck, man. I mean, worst of luck, but best of luck, right? My heart's with you. But my brain says stay. All right. Thanks. Given proof preview. Cooking. Diaries. Always. Yeah. Yeah. Have you ever eaten? Have you ever eaten? No. Isn't that illegal? No. No. I've heard black bears. Okay. But the other ones are a little bit less. So, but I, I've never had, but I think I'd kind of, I'd try eating predators is usually not the, the thing you do. I'm like cows, I like how like eating cows and pigs and sheep, like that's, that's about the range chickens, poultry, old birds, old birds are good to eat. It's up seagulls. I'll never had it. Moose is kind of interesting. Is, is, is good. You can eat a moose. Yeah. Good board. Yeah. It's a lot there. I saw my first moose in the wild, the last time I was up in the UP visiting my son at Michigan Tech, I drove by one. I'm like, oh my God, it's a moose. I almost, I almost, I almost ran off the road and then I almost pulled over but I said, you know what? It will be more moose. More knuckles throughout. Okay. Let's talk about the Chicago players. I want to, I want to talk about this a little bit, started a little bit talking about the, the lion's defense second overall, the offense second overall in the league, special teams, wide breaker tradition, second tide, but second overall in the league and the team grade from PFF overall is numero uno. Now here's where it gets interesting. Okay. This is where I think people should really start thinking about this game and the, the matchup. Okay. Um, when you look at their offense, the Chicago Bears offense, you've got a team that's ranked 26th in the league. As the Troy Lions fan, you know what that feels like. You know what being 26th in the league on offense is, right? Now this is a perpetual Bears reality. They're fifth in the league on defense, incredible, right? Like Caleb was the guy. We're going to get number one pick. We got this. We got the guy this year. We did all the trades and all the work to get him and we're 26th, right? There's all kinds of reasons. I don't want to put it on him all, right, whatever, but with a fifth place defense, they've been in a heck, it's they've been in a heck of a lot of games. And that's the thing that's kept them in games. That's what really, even though we scored 26 points, that defense and the, of the lions is what kept us in this, this stop and go game against the Colts. They've, they've kept us in games all year long this defense for the Troy Lions. So that's saying that you can paint a little bit of that on these Bears too, right? Now special teams 25th, right 25th. So Dave fifth can scheme some silliness across in that space as well. But that, that fifth ranked defense is what gives me a little bit of pause. Yeah. It gives me a little bit of pause for this game is that that also you, I'll tell you what, it scares me even more about their defense is that their defense is very similar to Tampa Bay is the team we lost to and that they get consistent pressure with four. They don't blitz and they're good like Montes Sweat that has a freaking beast. He's an animal that they're, they're, they're good at rushing the passer without bringing extra people and their safeties and linebackers in the middle of the field are really good in coverage. That's where Jared Goff likes to go. That's, that's what hurt us against Tampa Bay. I will add parenthetically Ben Johnson asking Jared Goff to throw 55 freaking times didn't help either, but what the Bears do defensively nicely counters what the Lions like to do offensively. And that's concerning. We saw it last year. They were better than just about any other team at, at stymying what Jared Goff likes to do. And that hasn't changed. That's not going away. So that from that standpoint alone, you have to be respectful of the Bears defense. They don't have some of the personnel that they had at the time. So I, I, I, the Lions offense is going to have to be really, really sharp in this game to get a lot of points on the Bears. The good thing is, is I don't think the Bears are going to score a lot, but with all the injuries, and this is the hard part with this game for me, Chris, to roll into a full preview here. If we had Alex Anseloni, a healthy Carl and Davis, a healthy, uh, Terry and Arnold, it looks like he is going to play, um, if we had, you know, our, our, uh, proper alignment of lineman, but we don't, and I think wide receiving core is respectable. DJ Moore, Roma Dunsey's really good. Keaton Allen is at the end of his usefulness, but he's still Marisor's whole competitive dynamic. Hasn't produced this year. That's the thing. Right. And that's because their line is crap. Yup. So in this is why it's so bad in their face and this is where I think the lot really things line up the lion's favorite. You're right. Our defenses is beat up, but their offense really sucks. Our offense is strong and it's playing against a very strong, um, defense. It's strength against strength lined up in this game and, and, and where I would love to have Anseloni and Hutch and the, the, the real defense for this team fully, yeah, fully healthy and playing because I'd have the utmost confidence. I think this matches up really well. I, I still think the lions are the stronger, better team. I think the offense will overpower the, the, the bears defense. And I don't know. I think our defense very much will overpower their offense as well. Oh, Junze is good, but he hasn't really performed Caleb is, he's flashed, but he hasn't performed and he's the more I see him and watch his face. The more it looks like he's starting to get into his head, like he's starting. And this is, sorry, guy, sorry, guy, he played for the bears. Oh my God. Throw the freaking ball, dude. Sorry guy. He played for the bears. I want the very, very worst for you. And, and I, I hope that they mentally break you and you, you get a reset somewhere else. Right. Um, but this is the kind of thing where I just see him start to get that, that, that in the head, the kind of like that kind of, when the thousand yards there, that's what I'm looking for. Uh, is he's back there? I just want you to have a word for that. It was all being lionized. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I never liked that. Oh, man. And this is, I'm not super worried about Caleb Williams behind that line. If he, if he had our line, I feel better about, if I were embarrassed about Caleb Williams, but here's, he's, he's a rookie. Here's what I'm going to talk about this cause it's, it's, who was it? It's a chat. I don't know if I put it up or not, but some of the chat made, made a great point. It was where the bears take away the middle of the field. Their defense takes away the middle. It's right there. And it just means. Yeah. Which, which kind of eats up a little bit of Saint Brown, but what we have is a defense that, okay, well, we've also got Jmo out there and Jmo can stretch the hell out of it. We also got a reporter who can come, come kind of shallow, but here's a guy and I would say, watch him this week, Tim Patrick. I think Tim Patrick has an opportunity this week to find a spot to really shine. This could be a week where he, he, he shines pretty, pretty strong cause he's going to be stacked up against, um, Tyreeks Stevenson, right? And that's where he's going to have a real chance to come out. You saw it last week. He had, what was it? Four for 55, somewhere around there or five for 50 something like that. Very well. Yeah. Yeah. Tim Gough have, have found that little little spot and he's very quietly been accelerating his role on the team. I, I, I think Tim Patrick is a player to watch this week against the bears and a guy that can really have a heck of a day. Um, I agree thoughts and also Patrick has been blocking extraordinarily well. I'm interested in Sam LaPorter in this game because Sam LaPorter did not play well last two weeks and that he hasn't been on the same page as golf. And, uh, I will, I will tease this Russ, Russell Brown from Bishop Brown, Brown's Bishop, whatever they call himself. Bishop Brown is working on, he is working on a film review of Sam LaPorter and he sent me a couple of clips from it and it's fairly damning of LaPorter. Just be warned ahead of time, but that's, it would be nice if he had a bounce back game. It was, it'd be useful, uh, yeah, that, uh, the, the drop that LaPorter had in the last game, that, those are the little things that haven't been happening for the Lions, that they can't happen against the Bears defense because I, I'm not sure we're going to score a lot in this game. And I will, I will say I'm very happy to have Jake Bates as our kicker, which like two months ago, I would have laughed my ass off it saying that statement, but damn it, he's perfect. He's literally perfect. It's incredible. Yeah. Yeah. Right on. He's the game winner this week and there's a genuine lack of trust in him at the beginning of the year and I love how he's, he's, and the focus he's put into it, the focus he puts in the game is actually beyond, I think, what a lot of our, our skill players put in it. And I don't want to say they're slacking at all, but I want to say as a kicker, the focus he puts into prepping for games is extreme, like his, he's, he's, he was like onto Chicago and working on Monday and getting in that frame of mind for what the game plan is and what he maybe asked of him in Chicago and getting into that mental space to play that game on starting on Monday. He, it's just who he is and how he works and I look, he's a guy you can tell he, he started late. He had a work, he could work a little harder than everybody else to get up to speed, to get where he is. And he's got that ethic and he's not dropping it. He's not changed and relaxing because he kind of got to the NFL. He's staying with it and he's got that focus. Yep. Yep. And what we see from Jake Baked today, I think is less than what we're going to see from him in next year and the year after, I think the growth that we're going to see out of the sky is something. He has the potential to be a, another long-term lions crate kicker with a, with his mindset right. And it's an embarrassment of riches at the kicking position. You sure wish you had the Hall of Fame quarterback after Hall of Fame quarterback, but when we had Nate freeze, I, I, I realized there. I realized how important that kicking position is. So we got it. We'll go with that. That's, that's. Hey, if Jared, if Jared Goff wins a Super Bowl in Detroit, he's in the Hall of Fame. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. You can deny that. By the way, he just matched your boy, Dan Marino, for the most, uh, my boy, your boy, boy. He's my, he's only my boy because he makes you so irrationally angry. I love it. He does. It's enough to pick on a guy like Chris Spooner, like to lean over the table and yell down at this poor man who's just like, I'm, I'm a Miami fan. Like Dan Marino. Yeah. Like, he, he was like a man. It was like a blow dryer, right? Push button for a risen speech. Love you, spoon. I do, we've talked, we've talked about it and I apologize to him off the, yeah, he's like, I thought it was fun. So he's a good dude, real good dude, looking forward to seeing him and many more people done in mobile for the seeer ball. Yeah. Such a good time. All right. A good time. There's going to be a lot of, a lot of good players there this year to watch, making 30, 32. By the way, thank you everybody who watched the draft video that I did about the potential first picks for the lions, appreciate it, duly noted, by the way, that we need pictures of the prospects. That was a, that was a rush job on my end. I did not get ashen of pictures for that. So next time we do that, so the lions are minus 500 in this game on the line, hard rock bet. That's actually going 75. Yeah. They were minus 650. They could be on drafting still. I'm just talking. Hard rock. No. Because they, you don't just, For perspective, though, folks, yeah, for perspective. Most money lines are like 130, 180, occasionally 200, but that means you have to bet the number that you, the number, the 600, you have to bet that much to win $100. So if you bet 130, you win 100. So you're not risking as much, the casinos have as much at risk as the better way to win. So when you see a number like that, like that's like, Oh crap, they're really, really a lot better. Let me see what my buyout is. Oh yeah, the cashout is almost three times the bet and the lion's Super Bowl win right now. They are trying so hard to get out of those bets. They're terrified. Yeah. Vegas is in a lot of trouble with, with the lions and the Super Bowl. They, the odds ahead through the year and what's happened. They're also in a whole lot of trouble if Jared Goff legitimately is an MVP candidate. I kind of think that he's fallen off a little bit from that. Yeah. Not that he's not worthy, but I think other people have shown that they're more responsible for why their team is winning than Jared Goff has is probably the best way to say that, like, say, one part of the other night, the Lord, but not to say that he can, he can still earn that this year. Yeah. You see some slower games and not been all of himself, but Ash pops in the chat with just blame me. Man. How you doing? I hope you're feeling better, brother. Brent says, I expect to score similar to the Colts game. Riz, what's your score prediction for the lions and the bears, Turkey fan? Fantastic. I got like, like 20 to 17 with Jake Bates making a 54 yarder with two seconds to go. Hmm. Very specific about it. Yeah. So 17 to six, I don't know how they get 17. Right? Yeah. I think we hold, we hold the touchdown free quarters through four more. Yeah. It's certainly possible. Yeah. No, I genuinely believe that that's what we have in Ford Field this Thursday. I worry that they're going to get like a, like, and it sounds more and more like Taylor Knicker's not going to play. That worries me that you're going to get like a strip sack or a forced, you know, golf gets panned. 60 knots. It does. But yeah, I wouldn't go that, but yeah, like the bears can score a defensive touchdown on this, on this and it wouldn't shock me. Yeah. They're opportunistic. They go for it. Very aggressive defense and going after the ball. So that might be how they score. Yeah. Yeah. Dead. So I just got the Dan Campbell coach that's actually what I was looking at. I'll read it because I didn't see the press cameras today, but he was asked on if there is increased optimism and Kelly Freeman, Taylor Decker, and Carl Nee was playing on Thursday and he said, "Nope, next question." Yeah. So that's not good. No. So -- And then none of those guys practice today. Yeah. I'm not certain about Decker. He's the one that I think could potentially play. Number one, he's a friggin dog. Number two, keep him guessing, right? Keep him guessing as long as he can. Yeah. And the fact that deck came out and played again last week kind of tells me that there may be something to this because they get seven days off. They get enough. They get seven days off because the next game is a Thursday game. So -- He played so well. Yeah. And he earned that PFF grade this week. He was the best Lions lineman this week. No doubt about it. He was fighting something earlier this year and he was having problems. It showed up in his play. And folks, listen to the podcast, no, I told you this thing should be back this week. And he was back to the Decker, the steamroller that we know and love. It would be great if he was out there because Dan -- the drop off from Taylor Decker to Dan Skipper, no offense to Skip is massive. Yeah. Skip needs to be taken wildcat snaps. We don't need him playing left tackle. He needs to be reporting as eligible. That's what we need to skip out there doing. Interesting to see. I do think that if Decker can't go this week, this is a week where Panay would shift to the left side and they would put skip or Jamarko Jones at right tackle. There you go. I don't think -- I don't think there's any chance it's called we source or geo-mono get action unless they're desperate. Yeah. It's just where they are. And we hope they're not desperate. Right? That's all fun. Jordan, you mentioned our practice squad could beat the Bears. I love it. I love it. I would love to be wrong and watch them bang the over on this and just ball drag the Bears. There's nothing I would love better because the crap talk out of Chicago ahead of this season and even last season, right, as we steam rolled them, it was just -- it was kind of a little bit delusional. It really was kind of a delusional kind of situation in Chicago and to really be able to see them 10th state to the ground in a concrete shoes in a river, right? That kind of thing. I would absolutely love to see that and have that opportunity to be that asshole to Chicago Bears fans worldwide. That when I tell people to be, you celebrate when your team is good, especially when people are giving you all the love, take it, take it and turn it into hate. Because they're going to hate you no matter what you do, they're going to hate you next year if you win the Super Bowl. So just -- >> That's right. >> It's going to range from, oh, you bumble fucked your way into it. You didn't deserve it. There's something. There's going to be something that people try to diminish it and then there's going to be all kinds of -- >> Those Lions fans, they suck. They're so loud. Either way, you're going to take a bunch of crap for nothing. So just go out and be the a-hole, earn it. Enjoy it. Enjoy every second. That's what I tell people. >> Don't be violent. >> Yeah. >> Please, don't be violent. Don't do that. But you suffered long enough. You suffered. >> Yes. >> Don't -- >> You've earned it. >> Don't continue suffering. >> We break the cycle. Learn how to enjoy and celebrate and have a good time. Don't suffer. Football's a lot more fun when you're having fun. So there it is. >> Yes, it is. >> All right. >> One last thing about the Bears, and this is one of the reasons why my fears about them winning our S-weaged a little bit is that Chicago media this week has been very like intent on getting that Eberfloos fired. >> Yeah. >> They are sick of his clock management, his drive management, his play calling on third downs has come up a lot. >> His challenge flags. >> Yes. My God. >> At least he could have said like we needed a time out. Anything. >> I mean, anything. >> There's something other than what he said. So there's something to that risk. There's something to that point because the players may be working just as hard to get him out. We've seen that happen for him. >> They know a dead man walking when they see one. >> Yeah. >> They do. >> Yeah. >> And that could very well -- that could -- that certainly helps my confidence in the Lions this week in a game where with the dilapidated state of our roster, the Bears do have a game, a viable chance to win this game. But because of -- because of a lot of the things we've talked about, I still feel pretty confident that the Lions are going to win this game. >> Yep. >> Yep. We need the Bears players to tell Eberfloos. >> You've had enough of that shit. >> And off you go. >> Some of them might be ready for that based on what I've heard out of Chicago. That's one of the nice things about where I live. I live across the water from Chicago. When I get -- I can get the score, I can get 1100 or 100, ESPN radio, I don't listen to it very often. But when I drive to the south, I tend to tune in a little bit just to hear what's going on there. There's some Chicago media people I really like. They are ready for change. >> Yeah. >> A lot of change. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Another thing that comes up with them a lot is that Eberfloos doesn't develop talent. Like the guys that they drafted a couple of years ago were kind of the same guys they are now. >> Well, he hasn't developed either, right? I mean, that's one of the things that's really nuts is he hasn't developed or grown as a coach. And I feel like that's something we saw from Patricia. He didn't develop. >> I agree. >> He doubled down on that. I got to be the tough guy, right? Like that whole like character he was trying to play, then he walked out and he went to Philadelphia. And he didn't seem to learn anything there either, like that place fell apart when he was there. >> Did you see, he's now like Bill Belichick's male boy. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Great. >> It was that girlfriend, it wouldn't be a bad one. >> Oh my God. >> Belichick living his best life. God bless him. >> Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I still say, I would pay good money to go to a speaking engagement where Nick Saban and Bill Belichick were sitting there watching a football game and breaking it down. I would pay good money to watch that. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> And like an auditorium. Oh my God. >> [LAUGH] >> Incredible. >> [LAUGH] >> [LAUGH] >> Oh man, that's sweet. Well, hey, get your Gibson money, Sonic and Knuckles shirt. This is a great one. So she can get into the smaller for the kids. This is really fun. My wife said I got to wear it to the Buffalo game. She said it looks great on me. But it's a fun shirt. It's a fun shirt. Check it out at trightlinespodcast.com at the merch spot. It's a good one. It's a sweet shirt. It's got a good stuff on it. Fun, fun stuff. Got some other stuff going in there as well. A couple new ones come in as the season goes on. A lot of fun stuff from Russ. Thank you Russ for all the work you do in that spot there. Also we've got to talk about the post-game show. I'm doing everything I can. As of right now, we're 95%, for all you folks that have to work. All you folks that have active duty and those folks that are hanging with a family and think that Dallas game is going to be trash, which I think it is, I'm doing everything I can to put something together to get the show on there, react to the game. Dallas is the giant, Popeye's conference and everything else. Yeah. That's a sting. But night game, however, is going to be a good one. That'll be a good one. Night game is definitely worth paying attention to with the Packers playing. The Packers can lose that game. It would be nice if the Packers lost that game. Yes, yes it would. FTP. Can I get that in? If you're watching this after the fact, the comments, give us an FTP and in the live comments, get over there, give us some FTPs going with this, that has to be the mantra forever. You can throw an FTP in there as well. That's good. Good to go. All right. With that, let's kick into this. Don't forget to notice some Patreon patrons are a great way to support us. Besides liking, besides subscribing, please do that right now if you would. We appreciate those who do that. But the patreon.com/attroitlionspodcast, if you get $5 or more a month, you'll get access to the most intelligent lion's chat on the internet, which is our Slack chat. It's a fantastic time. Good people. The live stream or while the game is going on, the conversation is really, really good. And it's fun. Even when things get a little tough, watching people ebb and flow, it's because it's never too serious, right? But it's serious enough. It's got the right kind of edge. It's such a good group now. Really enjoy it. You can get in there. Like I said, patreon.com/attroitlionspodcast, 5 bucks a month, you can say to the Slack chat. Twitter @detlionspodcast, that's how you'll know we're going to do the post-game show for sure. We'll do announcements there of when the show, what's going on, everything is @detroitlions. @detlionspodcast on Twitter. I think it's the same on blue sky and threads. It might be @detroitlionspodcast on Instagram. But yeah, that's where we're at. We're in all those plots doing all those things so you can join us and have fun as well. Take real quick. I'm doing a lot more on blue sky than I have been because I don't get Belarusian sex bots and ads all the time that advertise products that I have no interest in. So if you want to go to blue sky, I'm Jeff Riz, R-I-Z-Z over there. And I am toying with the idea of doing the Thanksgiving game only there instead of doing both blue sky and Twitter. So welcome, place is fun. And again, no ads, no sex bots, no spam bots yet. I disagree about this kind of fun. They actually clamped down or get rid of a lot of valid stuff now because it was so bad. So careful. It's something. They're their own place, each is its own place and there's room for more. There's always room for competition. That's what I love. That's what makes it great. Washing off the FTB's, FTP's coming, thank you all in the chat. Also, go to Detroitlionspodcast.com, stick that little subscribe button that way. What happens when they do that, Riz? I get to come in your ear holes automatically. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, like seriously, like you should be drawn in just from that alone, right? Like who wouldn't want to- I mean, it's better than gravy. I am, my filter is running so hard right now, Riz. Okay. Thank you for tuning in. We're going to see you next time on the Detroitlions podcast. Remember no pan-so-toe. So hot tubs, no problems and happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate and for those who do but can't or those who don't, we, we should be live with the post-game show and you can join us because we're here at Detroitlions and Reddit connection.
Indianapolis Colts Game Review: Lions Grind Out a Tough Win
The Detroit Lions proved once again why they are one of the NFL’s most resilient teams with a hard-fought victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Facing a stout Colts defense, Jared Goff and the Lions offense struggled to find rhythm but made key plays when it mattered most. Despite the Colts’ offense sputtering, the Lions’ defense rose to the occasion, forcing turnovers and keeping the pressure on Indianapolis throughout the game.
This win wasn’t flashy, but it showcased the grit and determination that have defined the Lions during the 2024 NFL season. Playing without several key starters due to injuries, the Lions relied on depth and excellent coaching to secure their 10th win of the season, improving to an impressive 10-1 record.
Special recognition goes to defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, whose game plan neutralized the Colts’ offensive threats. Glenn’s leadership continues to be a driving force behind the Lions’ success, making him a prime candidate for head coaching opportunities in 2025.
Detroit Lions Continue to Fly: Injuries Can’t Slow Them Down
At 10-1, the Detroit Lions have proven they are a force to be reckoned with, even as injuries have tested the team’s depth. Jared Goff continues to lead the offense, finding ways to manage games effectively and keep the Lions on track. While Goff’s numbers weren’t explosive against the Colts, his poise under pressure remains a key factor in the Lions’ ability to close out tight games.
Aaron Glenn’s defensive unit has been a revelation this season, overcoming injuries and consistently stepping up in big moments. With Glenn reportedly receiving interest from other NFL teams for potential head coaching roles, his impact on the Lions’ success this season cannot be overstated.
Chicago Bears Game Preview: A Thanksgiving Showdown
Next up for the Lions is a Thanksgiving classic against the Chicago Bears at Ford Field. The Bears, led by quarterback Caleb Williams, bring an explosive offense that will test Detroit’s defense. With a raucous home crowd expected for the holiday game, the Lions have the chance to showcase their dominance on a national stage.
The key to victory will be pressuring Williams and forcing mistakes while Goff and the offense aim to establish early momentum. The Lions’ ability to adjust to adversity and lean on their depth will once again be tested as they look to maintain their stellar 2024 NFL season.
