I'd make some more and do more, do more. So then move, moving on a group, baby. I said then move, moving on a group, baby. Move, baby. Move, moving on a group. Yes, we are moving on a group, people. They're right there. They're right there on my dance floor. And it's quite heavy, it's heavy. That makes them want to do more. So they're moving, moving on a group, baby. Move on, baby. Right on, baby. Move, moving on a group, baby. Move on, baby. Keep on moving. Move, baby. Keep on moving. I said move on. Keep on moving. Ripple FM. [MUSIC PLAYING] Welcome, everyone, to Phil and Ellen's Jazz Pleasures Radio Show, supported by Ripple Valley Jazz and Blues Club, and obviously, Ripple FM. Say hello, Ellen. Hello, Phil, how you doing? I'm good. I'm good and good, you. Yeah, good, thank you. That's great. We both hope you're all very well. This is a lovely melange of jazz and blues style music. We've got for your pleasure, and something else. For today, we've got a bit of a semi-theme, haven't we, Ellen? Well, kind of, yeah, because I've been on my travels again. Yeah, I have, lad. And I went over to New York City and-- New Jersey. Wow, yes, and New York. And enjoyed that, saw family, and it was lovely. Yeah. And one of the things I went on, I just happened to see us a prano, as a TV show. It's a prano tour, went on that. So you may hear a bit of influence of some of the tracks I've chosen because of that. But we've got a great lineup. We have, and we're starting off with something that is massively from that show. This is a lovely piece of blues music. This RL Burnside with, and it's bad, you know. [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] I like that. That's great, Phil. Terrific track. It's a bit of a nice Davis, didn't you know? Snake Davis. He plays on that. He plays on that, yeah. I didn't know. It's a wonderful blues sound. It's great. It's just lovely. And it's absolutely evocative of the sopranos. Yeah. It really is. And our old bone side was born in 1926 in Lafayette. And in the 1950s, it was convicted of murder. Bloody hell. Over a craps game and incarcerated in parchment farm. Whoa. And what was released after six months as he could drive a tractor. And someone in the jail who could drive a tractor was highly sought after. So he got out of a parchment farm. Well, what a good piece of information. That's great. Now something much more restful and peaceful. A Danish percussion and keyboard duo. They're called Franborg Kardive. And I think that's right. Kardive. And it's a beautiful piece called Terastador, which is Terrace. And it's from Overtage album, 2023, which means Above Garden. So this is a lovely piano. But what makes it for me is the percussion. So just listen to this. It's lovely. The drums is just lovely. [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] It was Jonas Cardi on the drum. I think he's a bit of a percussionist of genius, and here's something else. On the 5th of December, they play Manchester. You think I'm going to go and listen to him? Yeah. That sounds great. The Hallo is putting them on at St Michael's in Manchester. Oh, wow. Is that a church? Yeah. Yeah, so the great acoustics. Yeah, it will. Brilliant. Next one, we'll stay with you, really. Oh, yes. Frank Sinatra. Yes, well, this is the huge respect for, of course, for the death of the wonderful Amazing Quincy Jones. Yeah. And we're going to play two tracks to your range, one that he wrote on a range. But this is one of your range, relatively early in his career for Frank Sinatra. And it's a world-famous song, isn't it? Fly me to the moon. So we'll play that first. [MUSIC] Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away. If you can use some exotic booze, there's a bar in Far Bombay. Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away. Come fly with me, let's float down to Peru. In Llamaland, there's a one-man band and he'll toot his flute for you. Come fly with me, let's take off in the blue. Once I get you up there, where the air is rarifying. We'll just fly and start. Once I get you up there, I'll be holding you so near. You may hear angels cheer 'cause we're together. Whether wise, it's such a lovely day. Just say the words and we'll beat the birds down to Abu Ghové. It's perfect for a flying honeymoon, they say. Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away. [Music] Once I get you up there, where the air is rarifying. We'll just fly and start. Once I get you up there, I'll be holding you so near. You may hear angels cheer 'cause we're together. Whether wise, it's such a lovely day. You just say the words and we'll beat the birds down to Abu Ghové. It's perfect for a flying honeymoon, they say. Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly. Pack up, let's fly away. Lovely. Yeah, it's so good. It's just so rich and ripe for Sinatra's voice. It is, it's a cracking little something. I remember my mum singing it in the kitchen. And he worked regularly with Sinatra, didn't he? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sinatra said jump and he was there. He would be, wouldn't you? Yeah. In the mid 1950s. Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. And a complaint with me was the tune they played as the astronauts left for the moon. Oh, I didn't realize that. It makes sense though, it makes absolute sense. And now we're going to, well, but, sorry, welcome. We're now going to respect the passing of a second great jazz influence musician. And that's the trumpet of the Buena Vista Social Club, Manuel Guzara Mirabel. And here he is with Duader. Duader means debt in Spanish. And you can tell because at the end of the record it all gets very confused, like as if the debt's mounting up and overwhelming you. Great track. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] I think great. You can never listen to this track enough. It's his dear John C album, his dedicated album to John Coltrane after John Coltrane died. And this is a track called Feeling Good. And we're going to follow that with a wonderful piece by the Danish Radio Big Band. And this is called Alvin Sweet Part 2. And it's dedicated to Alvin Jones. And it's arranged by Charlie Watts, of course, died a couple of years ago. And it's the Rolling Stones drummer. So a lot of tributes going on there. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] Okay, yeah, I really like that. It takes a lot. Again, it needs to be listened to, but it's, yeah, you can see it's very, very talented young man. From a young Danish player now to Germany's coolest drummer, Wolfgang Haffner, and this is an album which has huge shades of Miles Davis is kind of blue in it. This particular track is called Kind of Cool, and it's basically Freddy Freelover reimagined, and it's very, very nice. I think there's a guy called Jukka or Jukka Perco on the outer sax, and he does a very, very good job on this track, but the drumming is lovely too. And it's a track called Hippie. It's called Hippie, yeah. So let's jump into that. [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] [MUSIC] They were part of the winning band in 2019, the Mercury Prize, and I really like this track, it's orchestral, again, it's quite contemporary. It's a lovely, very enjoyable, thank you for choosing it.
