- Tyler, can we please have a one word prompt? - Stuffing. - Ooh, okay. All right, you recognize? Three, two, one. (upbeat music) - Still have yet to make, I don't know if you're aware that White Castle has a Thanksgiving stuffing recipe. I was not aware. - Which I think, if I had to guess, I think you basically are just taking sliders and just kind of mashing them up and then stuffy-peded to the turkey. Like, I don't know that there's a whole lot of extra work. - The laziest addition to their menu. Hold on one second. Hey, welcome to the over-talking podcast with your hosts, Ken and CJ, say hi, CJ. - Hi, CJ. - This is a show where we took over TV shows and movies as chosen by our guests. And this week, we watched 2023's Thanksgiving for the Thanksgiving episode. - Tomorrow. - It's tomorrow, if you're listening on day of release. Now, CJ, White Castle is a, or was a tradition for you for Thanksgiving growing up, right? - Yes. - Getting some white eyes from the guests. Our family tradition was go play football, then before going home, stop at White Castle, eat a bunch of sliders, bring some home, maybe have even some more sliders later in the day, and then have Thanksgiving meal, stuff, actual turkey. - That's too many sliders. - No, there's no such thing. But in my advanced age, I have ceased to play football and maybe we get White Castle. - Blew up from you that one year and had the retire. - My dad did terrace ACL one year. - Oh, Jesus. - Yeah. - Was it tackle? - No, God, no. - Okay. - Just pivoted too hard. - Yeah, he was convinced he got kicked in the back of the leg when he like immediately turned around and thought somebody had done something. We were like, no one was within 10 feet of you. We don't know what you're talking about. - He's like, yeah, he limped off the field. - Bummer. - Then became a reoccurring bit that every year after that, he would walk in the door with like some sort of ailment or limp to scare my mom and then reveal. Oh, just kidding. - Did you get free from anything with the football games? Was there like a trophy or anything? - No, just this high school prize, still getting together. - Cool. - Did anyone treat at White Castle? - I mean, I got treated, I never had to pay. - Okay. - That's nice. - And speaking of treats, yes. We got two of them joining us this week. - And we got. - Returning guests Olivia, Cody, and Tyler Devanag. Woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo, - Look at our self applause. Thank you. - I gotta add that to the science room. - Thanks for coming. - No, thank you for having us. I'm super excited. Talk about Eli Roth, talk some Thanksgiving. - Yeah. DJ actually suggested we do this movie after having seen your guys' letterbox reviews of this recently. And I was very surprised that he approached me with a horror movie. It's usually the other way around, so that's awesome. - I think are the kind I can get behind the just like very campy high school teens killer is out to get them kind of slashers. - I kind of feel like you probably were just hungry. - Yeah, I know. I know, I was watching this thing and I kept going, let him cook. I want to see the rest of the video. - Yeah. - There's a, I subjected my friends to this. I think last year we only made it, I don't even know, 15 minutes with the way through. But there's another kind of very campy Thanksgiving movie among a bunch of college students, CJ. If you liked this, I think you'll really love a little ditty called Thanksgiving. Kind of you've seen this. - I've seen Thanksgiving. - That was like my go to a high school movie with like my friends, like every we'd watch it. And it was truly just like the funniest thing to me. And watch it through college as well. Like, carry the tradition through. And last fall, went to sit down with some of my near dear friends who didn't take to it in the way of 17 year old would take to it, you know? And it was so painful and I had to turn it off early. But it's really cream the crap, CJ, if you're interested. - Okay. - I tried to watch that with my family. One Thanksgiving. - That's horrible. - Because I was like, oh, there's this movie. It's like the only horror Thanksgiving movie. We gotta watch it. And I put it on and my parents were not amused at the very rude talking rubber turkey. - I mean, the very first lines of the movie are a nice tits bitch. - Right, yeah. I love to knock the kick off the watch very well. That sounds like Freddy. - I will say too, as one of the friends that live tried showing this movie to, I was down for the ride, but I will say there was a part of me that was just like very fearful, but even 15 minutes in that I was like some sort of slur or some sort of like big idiot who was gonna come through the circle's mouth and I was like, can I handle this? But yeah, so we couldn't persist. But part of me wants to turn it on right after we close this zoom meeting. - I mean, the name alone, you've won me over there. I'm kind of on board from that. - I know, it already like supersedes, you know, Iraq's Thanksgiving, which is just, you know, the name of the holiday. - Well, I don't know about that. We're gonna take a quick break and we'll talk about Thanksgiving and more the over talking podcast. - I used to love this town until it happened that night. Tomorrow's Thanksgiving, and I'm tired of pretending like everything is normal and it's not. - I think it's go back to normal too. Someone's out for revenge and they're turning it into a sick holiday gig. - This is weird. - We need to stop him. - When we're back on the over talking podcast and we are talking about Thanksgiving, Tyler or Olivia, who wants to take the recap? - I'll let T do it. - All right. - Oh my God, thank you so much later. - We're gonna put 30 seconds on the clock, to subscribe for someone who's not yet seen Thanksgiving without spoiling it. Yeah, what it's all about. Spoilers, people die. Okay, ready to go. - Yeah. Okay, so you have the town, Plymouth, Massachusetts. Famous for, I guess, the founding area, the founding moment of Thanksgiving, blah, blah, blah, blah, historical, et cetera, et cetera. You have people living in this town, teens specifically, who are all just kind of not great people. They're mostly just not great people. They all descend upon this place called Wright Mart, Black Friday, oh my God. And then there's a stampede, people die. Someone seeks out retribution throughout these deaths. And then they start killing dressed as John Carver. - Time. - Oh my God. I thought that was okay. - That was a good job. - Yeah, okay, okay. - Is it a killer pilgrim on the loose? - Yeah. - Yeah. - That would have been better. That would have been better. - I really wanted to get into the description of the Black Friday event. You should definitely, you know, but 30 seconds, 30 seconds. - Absolutely. I need to take down capitalism in 30 seconds is really difficult. - Yeah, very hard. - It's difficult sitting. - Usually I try to do it as many times as I can. - We all appreciate it. Yeah, so Olivia, you're the one who sought out this, is that right? - Yeah, so I actually got scammed into doing one of those infrared saunas for a long time. So I had a membership deal. - What is that? - And in the saunas. - Okay, hold on. - So it's both fit. But basically you go into a saunas infrared. So it keeps you from with inside is primarily that. So you're in there for an hour. And while you're in there, they have TVs where you can like watch programming and they have Netflix in there. And so this is mind you, 7 a.m. in the morning and thanks killings or thanksgivings on there. And I was like, whatever, I'll put this on. So I'm sitting there getting cooked, watching a human being get cooked in an oven. And it was a very trippy experience. I watched it over three mornings, I think. But, you know, obviously I'd seen it. I really liked it. I like when things, I'm not the biggest Eli Roth fan, which we can get into later. But I love campy shit that catches me off guard. I was pleasantly surprised by Addison Rae. I was pleasantly surprised by the character Scuba and so forth. And so it was really fun. And every year we kind of do a fall trip with our friends and we'll watch scary movies. And this year we took it a little bit later. So we needed a Thanksgiving scary movie and this literally fit the bill. - Perfect, perfect. Yeah, I had that watch it yet. And I was saving it for this year 'cause I didn't see it in theaters last year. And I had to watch it around Thanksgiving. So yeah, this worked out perfectly. I was very excited to sit out and watch it. And yes, I am also not a big fan of Eli Roth in general. Did you know he made borderlands that came out this year? - I did it and I was so shocked. 'Cause I heard so much shit about it. And then like ahead of this, like on Letterbox, I saw he was the director and I was like, wait, what? And that made it all the more funny to me. 'Cause really he makes bad movies. I like cabin fever. I think it's kind of like fun and stupid. I would never be like, that's a classic movie in which some ways people do. But yeah, I don't know. This one also caught me off guard 'cause I was like, oh, he made a somewhat okay movie. - Yeah, he, most of his movies to me, at least the horror ones, he goes too far and I think that's what usually turns me off. Like have you ever seen "Green Inferno"? - No, but familiar. - Cannibal movie, where do you watch it all happen? And it's too much. But yeah, I, without getting too far into what I thought of the movie, but like I felt like this movie was a lot more restrained with its kills and its subject matter and a lot more straightforward. And I think it was a lot easier to digest that way. - As somebody who has watched borderlands, I think I enjoyed this more than borderlands. - I never knew someone existed who had seen that movie. - I'm the one. Yeah, it was a big disappointment. - I'm assuming opening my minute showing. - I was the one person there and I've given the one rotten tomato's rating online, keeping it down there at like a 30% or something like that. - Brutal. So I have to ask 'cause I sent this to the group chat, but were you all aware of the backstory about this movie before having watched it, that it was originally a trailer in Grindhouse? - So I was, after I'd watched it the first time and I was like reading about the movie, I like doing that. I had like seen that, but I had never actually gone and watched the trailer 'cause I'd never seen Grindhouse and like those two movies. So yeah, no, you sending it was kind of like perfect timing. 'Cause I've always meant to do it. - Yeah, kind of the same for me. Yeah, I only, I knew that it was a trailer, but I never watched the trailer. And similar to Liv, like after we watched it the first time and I went and read about the movie, I didn't even realize that all, like it was not all three, but three of the trailers from Grindhouse were made into feature films, which is pretty wild, but also very cool. But yeah, so recently watched the trailer and then previously everyone's thoughts on it. I almost loved the trailer more than I, you know, like the movie. - Yeah. - There were parts of the trailer. I'm glad didn't make the movie for sure. - The parts. - Was it the very last thing in the trailer? - Yeah. - Okay, so then maybe don't watch "Thanks Killing" that movie. - Okay, yeah. - Maybe just don't watch "Thanks Killing" at all. - Oh, okay. - Yeah, well, I mean, that brings it back to my feeling about Eli Roth, like that trailer is Eli Roth. Like it's too far, like it's fun, but then it goes too far. - Yeah. - Right? And, but there's a lot of fun things in that trailer that I freaking love, it's hilarious. Oh man, I wrote down a couple things from it. There's a cop who's like, I guess tasting red stuff on the pavement from where someone got to decapitated earlier and he's like, yep, it's blood. Like yeah, obviously, what are you talking about? - Yeah, that was good. - It's so good. And then there's another moment where Eli Roth's in a scene and he's getting head and then he gets his head cut off. And then the girl who was giving him head runs to another guy and is crying and then starts making out with that guy. And she pulls away and, oh, his head's cut off too, apparently at some point, it's, ah, love it, so good. Definitely check out the trailer if you haven't seen it before. It's on YouTube. - I do like that they keep saying the name of the movie. Like it's just like 10 second vignettes and then just to remind you, so good. - Yeah, there's something about the trailer where it is just very much a joke. And obviously I think it's a really interesting case study and the sort of like inability to take a joke and make it a feature like, you know, or not. And I should say like the ability to because I do think isn't somewhat successful. But yeah, I just loved the kind of like two minutes rapid fire in your face. Like this is what a Thanksgiving horror movie would be like. And also kind of a crucial, I don't know. I know it's all kind of like kitschy and cliche, but even just like the, you know, 1970s kind of like retro film work. I'm like, yeah, this is, yeah, it's fun, it's great. - And like that is the movie, right? Like you don't really need much of a plot. It's just the vehicle in which you can watch people die. - Exactly, yeah. I do love the trailer. Yeah, for that, well, I mean, it's part of Grindhouse, but that Grindhouse you feel, right? It's very 35 millimeter grainy. And when Eli Roth was finally gonna make this movie, Thanksgiving for 2023, he basically, the way he approached it was that he's like, okay, that trailer exists for a different movie from like, I think he said 1980 is what he considered it. And he's like, let's assume that that movie, all of the prints were destroyed. The director and everyone involved in it disappeared and just this trailer remains. And that this movie, the 2023 movie is a reboot of it. So that he could use certain scenes from that, but then not be tied to having to have someone fuck a turkey at some point. So, a good choice. Yeah, I know. - I take it then, Tyler, Olivia, have you seen any of the Grindhouse movies, like Macchete? Oh, that one's a fun one. - Had they now? Yeah. - Has anyone seen Hobo with a shotgun? - No. - Also a good one. - I was shocked and infested. I was like, oh yeah, I've never, you know, I'm gonna go back. - Yeah, Macchete, not just one movie, but three movies. - Wild. - They're successful. The other two, 'cause there were five trailers total, the other two that haven't been made yet, and I don't know if they ever will, are don't and werewolf women of the SS. - Okay. - Interesting. - That one might be tough to make, but I don't know. So, has anyone seen the actual Grindhouse movies? - The Death Proof and the other one, no? - Yes. - No, badly. - They're pretty good. They're fun for a double feature watch, if you're ever in the mood, but I haven't seen them in probably 10 or 15 years. - They're heavily problematic when we go to watch them. - Probably true. - We get to cancel kind finally. - Finally. - Yeah. - We're waiting. - We already pushed Thanksgiving, so I think we can just already be canceled here. - Cool. - Yeah. - You see, were you okay watching this? It was a horror movie. - Yes, it is a horror movie. I was fine. You're kind of more laughing at the movie that I would say getting scared, at least that's how I approached it. Once they sort of set the tone by the first couple kills, you're like, oh, I get it. I see what's happening here. Yeah, this is gonna be fun. - Yeah. - Yeah, I love all of the homages to other horror movies. Like, obviously like it's very inspired by Halloween, like another holiday horror movie. And just the mask itself, I thought was really fun. Even at one point, the mask gets like kind of singed 'cause he leaves it on top of a hot oven, eventually replaces it. But I thought that was really cool 'cause that's something that happens to Michael. Michael Myers's masks in some of the sequels. And oh, and then at one point, one of the main characters is looking out a window and sees someone wearing the John Carver mask and then she looks back and he's gone. That's another nod. - Yeah. - Yeah. - I'm sure there's more than I'm missing. - I was just thinking, even when I re-washed a few things this morning, the opening scene is the same kind of like from the perspective of the killer tracking shot toward a house. Yeah, so even the mask, like this would direct homage. And actually to go back to this whole like mask thing, the John Carver mask, I didn't realize it, but the waitress was the person who was giving those out, just from behind her diner counter. I was like, this is such a strange character to be like delving out this significant thing, but here we are. - Yeah. The mask, I think in particular, did fool me like once into where like, I thought I knew who the killer was because of something happening with that, but I was wrong. And then I caught on, I was like, oh, okay, got it. - One thing I kind of remember is, 'cause you know how like U.A. Roth will do like those like, my top like 10 countdowns of like horror movies or whatever. And so he had done a bunch of hosts, like this release last year for Shutter or whatever. And I remember in like one of them, because of that, CJ, he like had a bunch of different actors playing the killer at different parts of the movie. So it's like we, the viewer never could discern like anything from like their physical body type, which is kind of like, I respected that. I was like, yeah. - Cool. - That's smart. - Yeah. - That is smart. - Who did you think it was for a little bit? Who were your big suspects? - Skip ahead, skip ahead a couple minutes if you don't want to know about it. - Oh, sorry? - Sorry. - It's okay. - I thought it was the new sheriff that like comes to town, especially 'cause it's like, we've only, he's introduced very early on and we only see a minute of him or so. I'm like, oh, that's usually what happens is some auxiliary character that was like, oh yeah, remember this guy, it was him the whole time. So I did think it was him at one point, especially when he asks for his gun. - Yeah, his gun. I was like, oh, he's taking his weapon so he can kill that guy too. - Yeah, I thought that was a weird moment because he had just fired it and like they had found the guy yet. So I feel like it'd be okay to leave him with his weapon even though he had discharged it, I don't know. But without spoiling who the actual killer is, it didn't really matter. I also fell for some of the other red herrings like either of the boyfriends of the main girl. Not totally convinced that one of them wasn't helping. - Right, like they never really wrapped up that whole, like his weird suspicious actions. And he has such a shifty face. - 50 face and he's missing for the climax of the movie and then he just shows up afterwards. - I think it's been hinted at that they might make a sequel to this. - It's confirmed. - It's confirmed, okay, great. So there's possibilities of where they could go from here. They definitely left it like a normal slasher movie ending. Like you could definitely continue it and be fine. - The body was never found. - And this might be another little spoiler but who I think should have been the killer was Addison Ray. I was like, come on, that'd be so fun. So fun, which by the way, she did sign up for our sign on for the second movie. So we will be seeing her grace her screens again. I know everybody is as you should be, Ken, as you should be. So maybe that'll be her chance to really shine. - That was, I will say like you saying how he was having different actors play the villain. I think that's where it might be given away if all of a sudden the killer goes from like the six foot football guy down to like Addison Ray or somebody you're like, oh wait, I think I have no way that is. - Like we'll also get an opportunity to watch her not do a Boston accent for another hour and a half. - That was wild. It truly was just Patrick Dempsey and then maybe like two other characters like randomly. No one else, what's up? - But the people that weren't doing it were really going for it. - Oh my god. - And you gotta love him for it. You gotta love him for it. - Yeah. - Apparently that's Patrick Dempsey's like original accent before he lost it for acting, yeah. - Grays beat it out of him. - I don't know. - Doctors can't talk like that. - He reached out to Eli Roth to be in this movie. - Oh really? - He really, really wanted to be in this movie. And Eli Roth's like, I don't think we can afford him. And his agents like, no, you don't understand. Like, whatever it takes, like he just really wants to be in this movie after having read the script. Huh? - That's so goofy. - Apparently several people reached out to Eli Roth specifically to be in this movie. Gina, Grr, Grr, Grr, Grr, Grr, Grr, Grr, Grr, Grr, Grr. - She had texted Eli Roth while he was casting, she's like, hey, when can I be in a horror movie of yours? And he's like, well, actually-- - I'm gonna tell it thanks. - Right now. - Yeah. - So if you got two days of filming and was able to be in the opening, that's pretty cool. - Two days of filming lost her scalp, all for art. - Yep, yes. I guess that is the way to do it, to be in a horror movie and only have to shoot for two days, feel like, all right, I did it. - You know. - Yeah, yeah, if you can kill it off early and you're big enough to name, why not? - Yeah, I did feel like the Boston accent was the sixth character of the movie. I was really enjoying it. - Yeah. (laughing) - That was so good. - And TJ, I feel like you famously are really known for your accent, so I would love to hear your Boston accent. - Oh, my gosh. (laughing) - Ah, wicked cop-back. - You dig. - Ooh, not bad. - Okay. - Maybe you should have texted Eli. - I got a lover, yeah. Okay. - She's like a dead body? - I can do it. - I would love to play a dead body. Shoot for one day. - Perfect. - Yeah. - It is true. I feel like some of the people who did commit to the Boston accent were actually the rampaging teams in the very beginning who are all trying to get under right now. Like, those people really committed. And I don't know if it's just because it's easier to shout in a Boston accent or what it is, but they were like, they were going hard. - Yeah. - That is true. Yeah, it probably is harder to have serious scenes, but very easy to yell at people in a Boston accent. (laughing) - Have you ever seen a Black Friday like that, anybody? - Not like that. I mean, that's- - Well, I hope that, well, okay. Okay, everyone. Gina Gershon doesn't die. (laughing) But I mean, I don't know, like that, I feel like it's obviously was a big thing back in the day, but I never heard of stampede or anything like that. Well, there was that one, I guess, for the Elmo doll that kind of went famous in the early 2000s, but I just never physically saw pandemonium like that. - I don't think I've seen any, yeah, like stampede's, but definitely have seen very crowded Walmart parking lots on Black Friday, back when we would do that in high school or whatever. - Right. - That was around the prime time when I would go super early on Black Friday to random stores. Just for the hunt, just for the thrill of the hunt, yeah. Digging through that DVD bargain bin. (laughing) - Yeah. - I'm curious, Liv, you alluded to this Elmo stampede that I know very little about? Do you know how, like, have more details about that? - Think it was Elmo. I wanna say it was just like in the 2000s, and I think everybody was trying to get like this one, like, talking Elmo doll. And I think like a dad or a mom truly got like crushed in the CMP to get it. - Oh my God. - Okay, now I'm like afraid I'm spreading rumors. Let me make sure it was at least fatal. - You sure this wasn't an action figure, and this was the movie jingle all the way? - Oh my God. If that's the case, terrible. - Was a sinbat about that? - Okay, wait, no, yeah, 2018. When they took on the Elmo toy craze, led to a trampling. I'm not gonna read it, but there's a headline. - All right, well, I'm jealous. (laughing) - Yeah, 25 years ago, in Indianapolis, it was gripped in a toy craze that swept the nation. Okay, it was sickle me Elmo and Nintendo 64, so sorry for leading. - A perfect stand. - Yeah. (laughing) - They go hand in hand. - Only 90 kids remember. - It was true, but I will say, I feel like the sort of like dawning of the internet and just the availability of online shopping probably helped sort of, you know, while the mass swelling of, you know, of an insane public, you know. - Yeah. - But who know, I don't know. Maybe people will go really crazy over a free grid all, free wall fire, which is what they did in this movie. (laughing) - Yeah, didn't know those were such a hot commodity. (laughing) - Once you plug 'em in, yeah, I get pretty hot. - Yeah, that's true. (laughing) - All right, well, I got some more fun facts about Thanksgiving, so I think it's time for trivia. (laughing) - Or page no that. All right, Tyler, Olivia, CJ, are you all three ready for some trivia? - Absolutely. - Can not. - Really quick, it was recently on vacation, and I had a thought, and I came to realization, why do I, a contestant, keep score of the game? - Because you have just offered to do it and have never spoken up before. - That ends now. - I didn't keep score. - Okay, I'll keep score. - Like done. - We get to CCJ stand up for himself, documented too. (laughing) - I'm sick of it. (laughing) - Okay, all right. Here we go. True or false? Oh no, we've talked about some of these already. I need to clean this up a little bit. Hang tight. - True, it was true, good, yeah. Oh. (laughing) Got him. - Got him. - On the board. - Fast food. - Okay, here we go. True or false, this is the second best critically received film from Eli Roth. Given that I can only name the ones we've talked about and hostel, I think was him. I'm gonna say this probably, it was probably hostel and then this one. True, so true, okay. - I'm saying false. I think it's this one is the best one. - Okay. - I'm gonna say true. I'm gonna go see Jay. - All right, Olivia's on the board with one point. It is false. This is the best received Eli Roth film to date. - Oh yeah. - Wow. - Jay, you let me astray with your argument. I was so convinced that. - Sorry. - Oh. - Now see, if you're keeping score, you could excuse me. (laughing) - Yeah, just so everyone knows, I have been cheating for the past, however many years we've been doing this. - Yeah, trust me, as a frequent winner, I was always so confused when I lost at this trivia. - Yeah, yeah. Usually by just like a point or two, too. It's weird. (laughing) Okay, how long did principal photography take for Thanksgiving? - Definitely very familiar with that. So I'm gonna go. (laughing) And we're talking weeks or, let's say weeks. - Okay. - Okay, yep, I knew that. - I'm just gonna throw a week number out there. - Okay. - And I'm gonna say seven. - Okay, I'll go with five. - Okay. - I'm gonna say 11 weeks. I don't know why. - Okay, yeah, 11 weeks is wrong. - Hell yeah. (laughing) - CJ, you were right on the money with five weeks. - Damn, I'm actually done. - But can you gain swish them out that you're saying 11 weeks was right? - No, he said wrong. - Gotcha. I gotcha. - I'm sorry. (laughing) - All right, along with another thing that no one has any context for, what was the budget for this movie? - Rice's right rules. - Just closest. So whoever answers first is at a disadvantage. Good luck. - 18.4 million, is that crazy? - That seems low. - I don't know if you know. - Why don't we consider Patrick Dempsey. - That's his salary. - Yeah, he did it for free. So we got excluded. - Oh, that is true. (laughing) - 50 million? Okay. - I'm gonna cut through the middle. I'm gonna say a cool 31. - Okay, Olivia's closest, 15 million. - 15? I was above? - You were very close. - Yeah. - Not bad. - I'm really overestimating this film. - Yeah. (laughing) - So on a budget of 15 million, how much did this gross worldwide? - Oh my god. - Was this in theaters? - Yes, it was. - Oh, okay. - I'm gonna say 50 million. - Okay. - 86.4. - 86? - Yeah, I don't know. It was again a really bad blow. - I was gonna say up there, is it great? Most successful movie, I'll say 100. That's probably a way off, but I got 100 mil. - Okay. - Tyler's on the board. It was 46.6 million. So very close. - Nicely done. Finally, appropriately estimated this movie. (laughing) - Okay, here's a fun one. What's the body count for this movie? - Oh. - Oh. - Okay. - And before we continue, without saying who the killer is, do we think the killer's dead at the end? Because that affects the count. - It does affect the count. This is where I know they clearly are setting up for a second one, and they say we didn't find anything, but they also say there's no way anyone could survive that. - Which is classic he survived. - Right, yeah, I know. That's where they're probably gonna say he did, but I think if that was in real life, he absolutely would not. Oh, sorry, spoilers is the he, whoops. - Oh. It could be a he-they, we don't know. - If we don't know, we don't know. It being the killer, not the individual person by the way. (laughing) I'm gonna throw out a number, and this is, okay, so just to kind of deframe my mindset, I'm counting the extra people that died obviously at Right Mart. - Yeah. - Then I don't know if there were any weird, straggling people at the parade who may have died, like when the truck hit into them, if that makes sense. So this is my baseline, and I'm gonna say 16 people. - Okay. Does that include the killer's death or no? - No, there's not, 'cause I think he is alive. - All right, cool. - Yeah. - But we won't know until like the fourth movie in the series obviously. - Of course. (laughing) - What do you think the sequel is gonna be called? Thanksgiving, Seoul, and leftovers. - Thanks for being there, I don't know what to do. - Thanks for being there. - There were a lot of people left over. (laughing) - Yeah, yeah, leftovers. - That's good. - I think you're, I was gonna say 14. - Okay. - Going through like, yeah, right Mar people, people, the original people he went after before the high school gang, some of those people, and they're extended families. And I'm gonna say the killer is, yeah, still alive. 'Cause that's clearly what they're setting up. - Okay. - I don't know, just for the heck of it, I'll go a little bit higher. I guess I'll say 21, and I will, just so that there's a different theory on the board, I will include the killers death and men. My hope, or at least not a hope, I'd be happy with whatever direction they go in, but I always appreciate whenever there's a kind of like, who's the next person to take up the mantle, you know, of the Thanksgiving killer. So I am curious if that is a direction. - I like that's like a scream way of going about it. - Yeah. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - That would be more fun. - And that would help us get as I as a gray. (laughing) - That's right. - I do feel like that's the way this is gonna go, but I guess we'll see. Okay, who said 14? - See ya. - Let's see, to get to the point. - Yeah, I see him, dude. Good job. - Here's the rundown. Jessica Wright's mother dies of an unknown off-screen death. - Does he tell? Even you still would win. - I don't know. I removed anyone who was fat by a dart, but we didn't see actually die. So just those were debatable. Doug, the security guard was crushed to death. - Yeah. - An unnamed male shopper, blood out. - In the bottom, Matt. (laughing) - That's your Z. - Yep. (laughing) Amanda Collins, blood out, firmer scalping, torn off. - Mm-hmm. - They included Amanda Collins, spoiler alert. They included Amanda Collins' baby, 'cause she was pregnant. - I didn't think that. - I did not count that, am I gonna? (laughing) No, of course not. Lizzie McMullen drowned. She was the person in the diner. - Oh, yeah. - Also kind of a lame Thanksgiving death theme. - To just drown? - Right, she didn't drown. She got stuck. - She was drowned, there's more to it. Drowned, flesh pulled off from being stuck to the freezer. - Oh, Amanda was. - She was chopped in half by a dumpster. - Yeah. - The sharpest and dumpster on earth, yeah. - Yeah. That was probably my favorite kill, I think. - Me too. - I think it's off the killing spree. - Yeah. - In a great way. - Anything was just like a clean slice in half. That is so unrealistic. So unrealistic. If the plastic lid to a dumpster fell on you, it would not be cut in half, but. - It was middle. - Her lower half was found, it was also very fun. - Yeah. Not just mounted. - Also kind of a nod to the original trailer with where the cheerleader originally lands in the knife, which did not make this movie. - Which row, again, I thought it was showing restraint. - That was a part I was glad to not make the movie. - Yeah, too far. Okay, continuing quickly, Manny was standing in the stomach. It was like a carving knife, and then he fed his cat. - That's nice. Lonnie Ingle had twisted 180 before Amy got stabbed several times on the Kathleen Julia, sorry, Julia. - Julia. - Arm and stomach shredded, thrown down. - Shredded. - Shredded, that's what it says. Lionel decapitated, unnamed man, and paled through the back of the face to the whole of the fake fit during the frame. - There you go, wake up. (laughing) - Got him in the blood spurting on it, so good. I loved that. - Yeah. - Kathleen Wright, step in the back with the pitchfork, flesh melted, cooked. Evan Fletcher, skull squashed at the table. The choice of words for describing to me is good. Oh yeah, his head got squashed. I don't know, there's a whole website dedicated to this, and they all have detailed explanations of the deaths. But that was it, yeah, so that was the 14. And nicely done, Siege. - Thank you. - All right, so this is gonna be the tiebreaker. Tyler, unfortunately, you're gonna sit this one out because Olivia and CJ are tied for two points each. - That's fair. - What is the rotten tomatoes, tomato meter score, in percentage, just closest. And if you would both, please say it at the same time on a count of three, so you don't influence each other. - Critic score, that was the most successful film. - Two, three. - 87. - 87. - Okay, we have our winner, Olivia's our winner, 84%. - Which is actually, I really was like, wait, this is a spicy biteful on me. Okay, cool. - Yeah, there we go. That's what happened on CJ, it doesn't keep score. You don't win. (laughing) Yeah, very close. And yeah, that's pretty high for a horror movie. Yeah, just for fun. What do you think the letter back score is, to one decimal point? - 3.1. - 3.3. - 3.8. - 3.0. - Whoa. - Just middle of the road. - And then then. - That's fine. I feel like it should be higher, but. (laughing) - Yeah, it feels like I should be higher. - Yeah. Well, I think it's time for our ratings then. ♪ You've heard us today ♪ ♪ We know you've been waiting ♪ ♪ So now it's time to hear our names ♪ - All right, we'll start with Tyler. Tyler on a scale of one to ten. What would you rate Thanksgiving for you? - I would give it a, I would give it a solid seven. - Okay, okay. - It felt, you know, it was extremely enjoyable, a fun watch. And as everyone said, I just love a good campy flick. - Yeah, I hear that. Awesome, Olivia. - Yeah, I think I'm gonna go eight. I like being surprised by some goofy kills here and there. And I was pleasantly surprised with everybody's acting. Like I wasn't like, it didn't feel campy in the way where I'm like, okay, this person's ridiculous. For example, I thought the dad was a really good actor. Sorry, but yeah, it had fun. - Nice. CJ, what do you think? - For me, yeah, I was pleasantly surprised by this. I did enjoy it. As soon as you kind of like got the tone, I was like, oh, okay, this is gonna be fun. I'm on board with this. I think a six and a half. Just like a pretty, pretty solid fun watch. Nothing incredible, but it was a good time. - I don't go. - Ken. - Thank you. For me. - I'm gonna be the hand holding club with Olivia. I think eight is the way to go for me. Yeah, I think this is definitely Eli Ross's strongest horror movie, at least for wide consumption, for not sickos out there. And yeah, I just thought it was great that you showed restraint. I thought it was a great modern day, just straightforward slasher, which I don't feel like we get a lot of anymore. There's always some weird twist or some meta extra stuff, because of course everything's done before, so we gotta make it new and fresh. But it was nice and kind of refreshing to just have just a normal straightforward slasher again. I really, really liked it. I'm very much looking forward to the sequel now. And I hope they make like 10 of them. I hope this is the next franchise that is just a horror franchise, and that John Carver mask becomes one of the most synonymous masks along with art, the clown is one of the new ones for this decade. So yeah, looking forward to it. - What, sorry to interrupt. What side would you guys serve alongside Kathleen? - That's Olivia, I wrote that down of like, they interrupted the meal too early. I wanted to see. (laughing) I wanted to see what he was gonna make like the cranberry sauce or the casserole. - I think I saw a letterbox review that was like nobody ate a single thing in this entire movie. (laughing) - That's right. - I was like, oh my God. - I know, he even kept that true leader for so long, alive in the fridge. - Yeah, just for a wine joke. - Just for a wine joke. - Presumably. - Just for a wine joke. - The wine joke. - Yeah, I don't know about that. - Look, you don't feel red wine. - It didn't make sense actually, I don't know. That was the one part that was unrealistic. (laughing) I don't know, I can't think of something funny to say for a side. - I guess, what's your ideal? What's your, quickly, what's your ideal Thanksgiving plate with or without Kathleen then? - Some sort of mashed potatoes, right? Or some sort of potato dish. - Mm-hmm, yeah. - But then I like, is the gravy still blood? - Absolutely, cranberry sauce, mixed with blood. - Yeah, exactly. - It's blood. - Everything's just blood, yeah. - You're drinking blood with a side of blood or blood over the daters. - And then, Tyler, you wouldn't eat Kathleen famously because you're a vegetarian. - That is absolutely correct, yeah. Thank you for suggesting that. I would eat, I am pescatarian to be clear, so like if there was like a salmon equivalent, you know? Or if there was a piece of Kathleen that seemed more like salmon, I don't know. - Yeah, I don't know what that could be. - Yeah, I can either. (laughing) - Even though she looks so delicious, you wouldn't have any. (laughing) - Really quick, if it's all right with you guys, I was gonna read your own letterbox reviews 'cause I got a chuckle out a little. - Please. - Oh no. - Tyler's was scuba diving with a hard emoji, which we did not talk about at all that this may have been. - The best character name that is ever been written. - I just really lol, but I'm fine hearing, Matt. - Yeah, I hope he's back to us. - I truly, yeah. - I love you too. They're like Thomas Pinchland levels of like naming her character, so it's incredible. - That was fantastic. And Olivia, you wrote, "I know which of my friends would be the tastiest turkey." (laughing) - And she's yet to divulge. - Yeah, yeah. - I actually think what our group of friends it would be, it would be me. I wish I could eat myself, you know? There's a little nibble. (laughing) And obviously Ken, you would pick CJ and CJ would pick Ken, I'd hope. - Obviously, honestly. - Honestly, yeah. - CJ's so meaty. (laughing) Okay, I don't know how to take that.
