In the Bible, in Hebrews 11, verse one, it says, faith is now the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen. For by it, the elders obtained a good testimony. We talked about faith last week. And today's discussion is gonna be about mercy and mercy, not of people, but mercy from God. God of the Bible, because his mercy, his faith, his grace, his long suffering, his patience, all that is different from when it comes to people, when it comes to humans. So I wanna start off like I normally do with a song. In this song, the name of the artist is Tyro Jackson. The name of the album is Who You Are. And the name of the song is Faith. So I wanna share this song with you before we get into our discussion about mercy. ♪ To believe that I can ♪ ♪ I embrace every part of who I am ♪ ♪ And I'm sure I'm not mad all of me ♪ ♪ But I'm starting to picture what my life could be ♪ ♪ I have traces ♪ ♪ From my past years ♪ ♪ They care we wisdom to help ♪ We wanna welcome you back to WBCAFM 102.9 Boston, Boston's Community Radio Station. Before we left, we was talking about the name of this show, which is Revelations and what we discussed last week, which was Faith. Today, we're gonna be discussing a different topic, which is called Mercy. Now, there's a couple of scriptures in the Bible that talks about mercy. And we're gonna share one in the book of Hebrews. Hebrews 4, 16, it says, "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, "that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help "in time of need." This scripture talks about, "Where do we get mercy and how do we get grace? "And when do we find it in the time of needing it?" Because we all need mercy. We all need grace. We all need faith. And this thing about mercy is something that we're gonna discuss in the show a little later in how God showed me mercy, how God showed me grace. And there's a lot of things I discuss in the show about what God has done with me. I walk and talk by experience, which is a testimony through Revelations in having example, as far as I experienced something of God, because most time to share testimony to be a witness, you have to share testimony, you have to be a witness. You cannot witness anything about nothing or you cannot testify about nothing unless you've seen it. Unless you experienced it, then you can become that witness. Well, I'm a witness of God through the blood of Jesus Christ. And we're gonna go over another scripture. This scripture is in the book of Ephesians. And it talks more about what mercy is. We're gonna go to Ephesians two. We're gonna start at four to 10. Let me read. But God, who was rich in mercy because of his great love, which he loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. By grace, you have been saved and raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. That in the ages to come, he might show the exceeding riches of his grace and his kindness towards us in Christ Jesus. For by grace, you have been saved through faith and that not of yourself, it is to gift the God, not of works, at least anyone should boast. For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that, we should walk in them. Now, in this scripture talks about God, who was rich in mercy because of his great love. God shows mercy when he don't have to. God does a lot of things that he don't have to do. And that's one reason I'm here, discussing anything and everything about God. You are listening to revelations. Now, if there's anyone who wanna call in to discuss or to jump into this topic, you can call 617708-2311. You can call in any time during this broadcast and discuss. You can sit here and ask questions. You can ask me a question if I know it. And if I don't, we search the scriptures and let God give us interpretation. Because mercy is something that we all need. At one time in our life, we might need mercy. There might be times you don't think you need it, but there's a time it's just gonna pop up when you need mercy, you never know when you need it. So I wanna share a little something about how God gave me mercy, showed me mercy and allowed me to be here, to be discussing this show, to be discussing this topic, to be discussing revelations and many other things. As I said, my name is Debussy Tyler, aka Brother Warren. And that name didn't just appear. That name came upon me as I was seeking to do God's will. As many of you might know, I was incarcerated for 15 long years. And I've been through a lot of things. And I'm gonna start from the beginning, but not too deep because my story is my story and it is kind of complex. So we're gonna talk about this slowly in the broadcast, maybe in the weeks to come, and you can call in and ask me any questions about my life and how did I find God or why am I doing the things I do? But there was a time when I was living in the world and I was blinded by the darkness. I was blinded by the ways of the world. And I didn't know Christ. I didn't know nothing about God. I believed in God, but I never had faith in God. So one day while I was driving, I end up having an accident. I end up blacking out. Long story short, my friend died due to my negligence. Me driving in a car, running through red lights, drinking black doubt, and my friend end up losing his life because of that. Now, this is where God comes in. Even though my friend died, God takes life and God preserves life. Why did he preserve me? Exactly because of his mercy. His mercy is what he showed me. Even though some people get it and some people don't, and I don't understand why God do the things he do, but I'm not God. I'm a servant of God. So he showed me mercy. And that's why I'm here to testify about his mercy, about his faith, about his grace, about his long suffering, about his patience. There's many things I can discuss about God. We have a Bible, a book that was written by God through man through his Holy Spirit. Now, you can either wanna believe it or you could wanna leave it. But most times when you leave it and don't believe it, you cannot receive it. And we'll discuss that later on in the show too, about how God gives us faith, a measure to everybody and how he uses this faith so we could please him. We can go on our way, believe him, please him, do this faith. God is spirit and we worship God in spirit and truth. Now, I need to take a short break, but I will be back and I'll be discussing more on mercy and more on how God shows everyone mercy in this world. There's many things that God has that we need to learn through his word, through the Bible, through scriptures, through circumstances, through his Holy Spirit. There's many way God teaches us his word. Now, before I left, I talked about how God showed me mercy, through me driving and end up crashing and my friend dying. And he saved my life, and he saved my life because he showed me mercy. Now, everyone gets mercy, but I don't understand why I received it at that time. So I can't talk about mercies for anyone else, but I can talk about the mercies that God showed me. Before I left, we also talked about how I had a lot of things going on in my life. I was living in darkness, and I was running around, blinded by the darkness, not understanding God, or wanting to believe God. So long story short, he showed me mercy. Now, I like to share scriptures 'cause scriptures is what we, when we learn to receive and hear the voice of God. God speaks to us through the Holy Bible. These scriptures in this Bible are spiritually fed, that inspired by God, through men who had the Holy Spirit when they wrote them, and God talks to us through the word. There's another scripture I would like to share before I start discussing and get deep into the mercies God showed me. This scripture is coming out of the book of Romans. Now, if you will just listen to what God is saying, and for word, for word, and you can go over it again, and you can try to meditate on it, or try to get interpretation, God gives interpretation. But if not, we could discuss what this scripture is saying and find out the truth behind it. You can also call in at 617-708-3211. If you wanna talk and ask questions about what we're discussing today, which is mercy. In the book of Romans 9, 14, we're gonna read a few verses. It talks about Israel's reduction in God's justice. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? Certainly not, for he says to Moses, I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion. So then, it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. For the scripture says to the Pharaoh, for this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show my power in you, and that my name may be declared in all the earth. Therefore, he has mercy on whom he wills, and whom he wills he hardens. You will say to me then, why does he still find foe? For who has resisted his will? But indeed, oh man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing form set to him who formed it? Why have you made me like this? Does the potter have power over the clay? From the same lump to make one vessel of honor, and another for dishonor? What if God wanted to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endure with much long suffering, the vessel of wrath prepared for destruction, and that he might make known the riches of his glory, on the vessel of mercy, which he has prepared before hand for glory? Even us whom he called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles, that's a lot. This here is talking about God being able to have mercy on whomever he chooses. He's God, I'm not. Why did I stay alive? Why did my friend die? I don't know. God says he has mercy on whomever he chooses. For the scripture says to Pharaoh, for this purpose I have raised you up. So sometimes God will keep someone and raise them up by giving them mercy for a purpose called during his will. Now we don't know why God does this, but we know he is God, and we are not, and we can't question him. So back to my story, I was a wreck. I was running, I was running the streets, I was living in darkness, I was selling drugs, I was getting high, I was drinking, I was doing a lot of things. And there was many times that I could have succumbed to my demeans, I could have been dead, I could have been missing, I could have been not no longer on this earth, I could have been buried, I could have been pushing up daisies. There's a lot of things I could have been, but because of God's mercy, I am still here to testify. Now there's a lot of other words God uses. He has grace, he has mercy, he has faith, he has long suffering, he has a lot of things, he has wrath, and he also has vengeance, but that's another topic and another day. We're discussing mercy and what is mercy. Now people can show mercy, like if you get up in front of a judge and you're gonna be convicted of a crime and you can do a lot of time because of this crime, because the statute was called for how much time you do. Now you can act the court, you can act the judge to show you mercy. The judge has authority, what he does in his courthouse. God has authority of what he does on his throne. God created all people. So God can give mercy at any cost to himself. A judge gives you mercy because you committed a crime. Does, do he owe you any mercy? Can you buy his mercy? Can you get mercy for no cause? No, mercy is something that we plead. Mercy is something that we don't deserve. Mercy is something that we get when we deserve the other. So when mercy is involved, mercy is something good. I love mercy. I love grace. I love faith. I love God. I love Jesus. I love the Holy Spirit. Mercy is the word we're discussing today. Now if you wanna call in at 617-708-3211, you can. And I need someone to call him and ask to talk, or just chime in on what we're discussing about mercy. Mercy goes a long way. Back in the days, I keep saying back in the days because I am so grateful for God. I am so thankful for God. God gave me a lot of things. And one thing he gave me that I can hold daily to is my life. I thank God all the time for saving me and keeping me through my sufferings. There is a lot of things that I've been through. And this is why I just thank God. I thank God for everything he's been doing in my life. There's songs that God gave me. There's songs that I shared. There's songs that I sing. There's songs that I learned that was already recorded. Sometime I was singing a song, sometime I won't. But today we're talking about God's mercy. And I would like to share this song again that I played earlier. This song is titled "Faith is by Tyrell Jackson" from the album of "Who You Are." And it's called "Faith." We talked about the mercies that God spoke when he talked to Moses, when he had mercy on Pharaoh, when he had mercy on the children of Israel. God has much mercies, his mercies endure forever. His mercies is renewed each morning, and we need them each day. The reason we need mercies every day is because every day we need mercies. There was a time when I was young. I grew up in Columbia Point Projects, and I used to do a lot of dumb things. There was a time when I used to walk on a ledge in Columbia Point 7 floor, 7-story building, I'd walk on a less than a half an inch ledge to go into this window to open up this door. I used to do that when I was young. What if I would have fell? What if I would have not be here? Did God show me mercy right there? Did he allow me to stay around? I don't know, but I believe so. There was a time when I jumped into the moss or other boulevard bridge, and the tide was over my head. It was deep. I never knew that the tide was so high because we didn't know all these kids that tide goes in and out. I jumped, and I almost drowned. Could have been gone, could have been dead. Did God save my life? Did he show me mercy? I mean, what was it? There was a time when I was driving to Brockton, and I took Hogan's pond exit, and I was heading through this road. I slid on black ice and ran out into the middle of the road, and no cause was coming. Usually, cause is zooming around that curve, no cause came. What was that? Was that grace? Was that mercy? Was that favor? Why did God allow me not to get into an accident that time? I don't know, but I know it must have been some form of mercy. It must have been some form of grace. It must have been some form of favor. These things God does, there was a time when I was hit in the head with a bat. I know many people, when I grew up in Columbia Point, that God hit with a bat, and they died. They're not here today, talk about it. But they've got struck with a bat, and so didn't I. I got struck with a bat, received 10 stitches to my head. I had a concussion, I had multiplication from that, but I'm still here. Did God show me mercy? Did God show me grace favor? I don't know, but I know God gives us mercy. It's not just I needed mercy or favor or grace because of something that I've been through, or not because I've robbed a bank or something, and I need mercy, and someone can give it to me. But God shows his mercy in many ways. He showed it to Moses, he showed it to Pharaoh. And then Pharaoh ended up chasing them all the way to the river, and God opened the river to see, and they went through, and Pharaoh's army went in and drowned. Pharaoh still received mercy because Pharaoh didn't die. The whole army died, but Pharaoh received mercy. He says, I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion. God gave Moses mercy. For the Scriptures says to Pharaoh, for this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show my power in you, and that my name may be created in all the earth. So Pharaoh received God's mercy, so he could be used by God to show God's power. Why did I get mercy? Was it just because, or there's a reason and a purpose behind God's mercy? So God just doesn't do anything just to do it. So I understand these mercies, and I don't take them lightly. That's why God did what he did, and I received from God what I received. I've been through a hard life, and we'll talk about that sometime during these broadcasters. But this thing is real, man. This thing is so real. You got Brother Warren, AKA. My name is Warren C. I love Bible Scriptures. That's why I share a lot of them. And you can call in at 617-708-3211 if you want to discuss any of these Scriptures that I read tonight. I read from Hebrews 416. I read from Ephesians 2-4-10. I read from Romans 9 and I'm about to read from the Book of Matthew. This is talking about two blind men healed. Now listen to the words of these Scriptures. Just listen and take in with what the words are saying. Matthew chapter 9 verse 27-31. "When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying, "Son of David, have mercy on us." And when he had come into the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to him, "Yes, Lord, then he touched their eyes saying, "According to your faith, let it be to you." And their eyes were open, and Jesus sternly warned them saying, "See that no one knows it." But when they had departed, they spread the news about him in all that country. Do you see the word mercy? Do you see the word faith? Do you see the word belief? These words are here for a purpose. Now, when Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed him, crying out saying, "Son of David, have mercy on us." "Son of David" is another title for Jesus. "Have mercy on us." And when he had come into the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" So, for them to go crying out, asking for mercy, they had to believe that Jesus is merciful. They had to believe that Jesus could show them mercy. But what type of mercy were they looking for? Jesus knew that they were blind. Jesus knew that they wanted to see. They knew Jesus was able to do a healing. They knew Jesus was able to make them see, and they believed it, and they had faith. Then he touched their eyes saying, "According to your faith, let it be to you." And their eyes were open. Their eyes were open not because they just went and asked Jesus to open their eyes. They had faith in Jesus, and they knew he was merciful, had not knowing that they would not have went to Jesus. You have to believe anything about God in order to receive. Every time Jesus mentions something about healing, faith, or do you believe, it goes hand in hand with who he is. We read the scripture about faith without faith is impossible to believe God. Those who come to God must believe that he is a reward for those who seek him. So, our faith heals us. Our belief brings us to God. His mercy is what he gives. So, the faith brings us, our belief brings us, our faith heals us, and his mercies is what he gives. God is a merciful God, and if you read any scriptures in this Bible, you will see that he shows mercy to the 10th generation, 10,000th generation. God is a merciful God. God is so wonderful to me through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. And that's why I do what I do. Now, I didn't discuss the definition of mercy before I opened this show. Mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. Compassion or forgiveness shown towards someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm. So I can have mercy if I have compassion or forgiveness towards someone. I can show mercy. I can forgive. I can have compassion. If someone needs mercy, I can have mercy on that someone. If someone needs compassion, I can be compassion. If someone needs forgiveness, I can forgive. But God does it any time and every time and all the time. God will always show you mercy. God will always show you grace. Many people don't want it, but it's there to receive. In the world they cultivated, I love preparing and eating dental with my family on Sundays. When our resources change, food assistance programs sustained us. They gave me food to start my first culinary business at 16 years old. An inspiration to donate the extra food in my community. Through my life, I've developed an appetite to work with others to ensure everyone has access to the nutritious food we need to thrive. Together we can help end hunger. Come on, join the movement with Feeding America by volunteering, donating and advocating. Learn more at FeedingAmerica.org/actnow. Brought to you by Feeding America and the Ad Council.
