G'day friends it's Blister Guy and for Monday the 2nd of December I mean I just looked at this I really should have it by now it's episode 1393 I also just looked at that and stumbled on it. I've walked to work on mobile hostel and podcast got that bit right at least. Oh no I can't remember what I call the episode. No I can't I can look it up. I don't need to look it up it's self worth in the letter that's right that's what I call it I remember it now. Okay so like Monday obviously not the regular time I would often go out and record if I was going to record on a Monday but today has been ridiculously hot. It's actually all right here on my balcony right now but I've already been out a couple of times today walking Mongoose to school heading out last year a couple of groceries it's disgusting out there and I can't complain that it's not summer anymore because it is now officially summer in Australia and I can't handle I can't handle it's just full on anyway this is a topic that I've had brewing for years and I touch in on it every so often and look if I'm honest don't expect resolution during this episode it's look you know a proper clickbait title would give the impression that I'm going to come to some epiphany here and get to the point where I'm like ah that's the answer to all my problems and all the answers to all your problems right but I can't I can't say that in good faith I'm going to be cashing out more of my thoughts on this we're going to move forward perhaps on this but I doubt will it be resolved on this self-worth in the letter okay so November came to an end I apparently finished high enough to get 11 times multiplier standard in the wild again so that's two months in a row or maybe it was the previous month as well and I just don't remember don't really know but I do know that I got to the point this month where I was like ooh kind of within range of 11 times well no not right I didn't mean in range was if you know if I win a few I can get 11 times I was I was 11 times multiplier for most of the month at the end of the month I played some games and I was starting to fall towards where I might fall out of 11 times territory and I kind of got a little bit I think second serve it that's not really the word right like that's that's too tied to political leanings these days I got hesitant and the words that come up when people talk about this is letter anxiety now I don't think I have letter anxiety I have lost count of the number of times I've gotten legend I'm sure I can look at it and add it up and I need I started putting them all in a spreadsheet but then I stopped doing that I need to do that again because the way I was recording them as I'd saving the tweet that I'd make when I got legend and I'm not always doing that now so I need to need a better way of doing this anyway I'm over 150 times reaching legend I know that much maybe it's 116 now but if it's not I apologize so it's not that I have a letter anxiety is such I'm not suffering any anxiousness over this but there is a hesitance that I think is also associated with playing it safe and people often associate letter anxiety with playing it safe and so obviously I'm doing the same thing here but like what is my end goal in a month right let's let's assume faultily so I think let's assume my goal is to get in eleven times multiply the following month which is not and I've tried to talk about that a lot and I think also let's be clear my goal is not air quotes to not get eleven times multiplier it's not to be in a position where I care about eleven times multiplier but invariably what happens is I end up caring anyway and I'm not entirely sure that I like that and I think what it comes down to is obviously some sense of self worth like two or three months now I've had eleven times multiplier what happens when I don't have it again and this has happened before I've been a musician where I've steadily had eleven times multiplies and then got into the point where I don't have it anymore due to I don't know life competing life priorities I mean most definitely around the birth of Gertai suspects wouldn't mean the last time she's gonna be four soon so but like you know these things have it also I think Schwell pointed out every November is a time when I fall off the wagon so I guess last November I didn't this November I just didn't so that's new I think but the point is is like I keep telling myself and you all and in a sense me telling you is me telling myself out loud in front of you so that I can take what I'm telling myself seriously right telling myself that I don't care about eleven times multiplier and I even regard the eleven times multiplier as unhelpful because what I find when I'm climbing to legend in a month is if I haven't eleven times multiplier it's too easy it's not too easy it's that I get there with fewer games than if I had a ten times multiplier the ten times multiply games are technically a bit easier than the eleven times multiplier games not in a way that either that I prefer either of them I'm like competition fluctuates from one game to another like the difficulty so I don't really mind the difference between ten and eleven times multiplier well it's been a while since I've had ten I guess I guess sometimes ten is easier than I would like it to be and maybe that's a thing but what I convince myself is that the amount of time the number of games that takes me the space across a month that I spend getting to legend when I have a ten times multiplier feels more comfortable I feel like I've I don't say padded it out but like I don't find myself getting legend too early in the month and then going what now whereas if I haven't eleven times multiplier the difficulty level of the game is slightly higher but I feel like I get legend a bit quicker and I think more importantly it's that I breeze through diamond five more because obviously you win two stars for every win and lose only one for a loss and then I get to legend and then what I was like what do you mean then what you just keep playing but for the longest time I didn't really play it legend and some of that is going to be because well now I go play wild I get legend a wild now what what it's been ages since I've played some battlegrounds it's placing battlegrounds and I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that reaching a goal and then going now do something else that's probably healthy even you know it's in the scope of me playing Hearthstone way too much in a busy life already can be considered healthy probably not right but to change it up and to not what's the word I'm looking for narrow focus it's not beeline why do you say beeline made a beeline for something like have you ever seen the way a bee flies it's zig and zag and all over the place be a bee does not follow a straight line anyway different story laser focus I don't laser in on just trying to do better and like what could be better than having eleven times more to I well finishing higher finishing top one thousand I don't do that very often and that could be a thing I can try for but I don't really feel like I need to do that like obviously Hearthstone isn't even the same the only game I play like occasionally I dabbled with World of Warcraft for fun and I play a fair amount of warcraft rumble as well I don't know I just quite comfortable in the warcraft universe I guess I should talk more about rumble actually I should have like tips and things let's have some tips right now for rumble this week in warcraft rumble the dungeon is dead minds if you don't play rumble that's fine this will be over quickly if you do play rumble but don't like not very seriously enough to follow it you know is strongly excited perhaps this might be helpful so there's six different dungeons no five different dungeons five different dungeons at each week we rotate to the next one and also each week we rotate to a different family so this week it's dead minds and the family is cenarion if you want advice on how to beat dead minds generally you want to have living bomb in your team for the second boss angry chickens is very helpful on the first boss and the last boss the last boss has these photocopy of pads where the first mini from either side it goes on to it gets copied for the boss and they get like five copies of it so you don't want their mountain giants landing on it and you do want your chickens landing on it or your cobalt miners or even just an unbound mini that you can throw at there anything like that I've seen a lot of people asking for advice on what teams to run so what I have run for all five so five all three cenarion leaders in both my man account and my free to play old account I did angry chickens defias bandits both those being run off slot which means in the cenarion family slots without a bonus because they just aren't really in many great scenario in the east to run for this dungeon living bomb obviously well pigs because I really like those in a lot of ways in many of the bosses fire elemental or quilbor it's one of the other and the last one is our witch doctor because which doctor is just very strong the fire elemental slash quilbor thing I start with fire elemental because it just seems to be really good on all the maps I find and if you get the lifestyle relic it's great I just realized that we're talking for ages about this now well almost be done but sometimes just go for quilbor instead you can use it straight bosses anyway look that's your advice for the rumble dungeons this week for cenarion if you need it and maybe next week I'll talk about whatever the extension is and whatever families that anyway right back to Hearthstone so as you can see I can get distracted by various things more craft related and so getting to legend is a totally fine goal I'm not obsessed with the idea of getting top 1000 even though not really far off it to be honest but then what top 500 top 200 top 100 I guess I keep doing that but like I don't need that like myself worth hey there's the thing from the title is not tied up with having a high ladder finish because the logical extension of that is I need to get rank one legend and even rank one legend by the end of the month I don't need that like what am I trying to qualify for some masters to a event I don't have time to play in a practice or anything that kind of thing and let's be completely clear and honest here I'm not good enough for that and you're like oh don't don't don't talk like that give you a good enough of your work and yeah maybe maybe I am but I don't think I'm doing myself and my family a good service or I would be doing them a disservice if I was trying to put that much effort into this if I set aside all the other hobbies and interests that I had and let's be clear doing this podcast is one of those hobbies and interests right if I set aside all of that and focus on just getting high legend legend finish why for what purpose is it for money I get a lot more money in my day to day job and that doesn't pay that well it's not a lot of money and being a competitive Hearthstone player I guess I could become a streamer but also my life is not as such that I have the room to give up working for a year two years to become a big streamer no that's not on the card so high legend finish isn't that useful for me really I'm happy with how well I do it Hearthstone and how far I go with these things like that's fine but still I end up in this position where if I'm near an 11 times multiplier I start going ooh and I get hesitant about queuing up if I think I have the 11 times multiplier in the bag already or I don't I should just be not caring and yet I am and I don't get it but maybe I do get it maybe I do understand that what it is is like even though I'm saying out loud to you all now that I'm not good enough for that and I shouldn't care that I still care a little bit like I don't want to be someone who goes hey so remember last episode I said I was at 1100 and that's pretty good that should be locked in for a for a 11 times multiplier well I played a bunch of meme decks while not paying attention of being hard to sleep and literally falling asleep with my phone in my hands ha ha ha now I'm like 3000 legends so I'm not getting 11 times multiplier now that actually is a thing I should be able to say on this podcast and I know that basically none of you would judge me for it in fact some of you would find it entertaining I would find it entertaining but I still can't bring myself to do it because I feel like I am letting some of you down even though I'm not I feel like I'm letting myself down even though I'm not it just it just keeps happening and it annoys me when I find myself in position going maybe we don't queue up and I mention the hesitancy thing again it's not anxiety it's like let's say you go to a casino which I wouldn't do that's a thing I just wouldn't do I'm not I know I have an addictive personality so I instinctively avoid gambling and drinking and drugs and all that stuff I avoid that stuff like the plague because it would probably damage me like the plague so I don't go to casinos but let's say I go to a casino right and you go to a casino and you have a certain amount of money you want to gamble and you find yourself up you went in with a hundred dollars and you're at a hundred and fifty dollars and like hey you feel good the temptation is to keep going right I like here I am telling myself that I don't trust that I would do that but here I am also saying that when I play Hearthstone I am prepared to do that I know but like there comes a point we just say you know I'm good I don't need to push any further whereas the idea that I should push further on a Hearthstone letter is the opposite of that whereas here I am content with doing this a Hearthstone letter fearing that I wouldn't do it a casino but like the thing is I think that is very possible at some point I will push it a little further than a Hearthstone letter it'll just I don't know a month where I'm a bit more bored I don't have anything to do maybe I don't feel like playing Battlegrounds maybe it's a month where we don't have twist apparently twist is coming back this month by the way which is an added wrinkle December is a busy month Christmas and all that stuff like if I try to get twist legend this month that's going to take away from the amount of time I have anyway let's not think too much about that like if I found I had the time and bandwidth to want to push a high legend I mean let's say once good is old enough to be going to school she know the daycare she's not as presently demanding in the moment as she always is now it's three year olds that's what they like right but like once she gets as old as mongoose was a few years back when I was like hey you know what I'm gonna be a headspace so I can do things I started doing videos with mongoose and then good came along I mean actually I think the first video I did with mongoose good had just come along so she was in that cuddly potato stage so she wasn't as much of a disruption as she is now anyway that again sidetracked let's say I do get that impulse to push harder for a top 1000 finish for a top 500 finish for a top 200 finish or whatever I cannot say with any certainty that I'm not going to try that I might try that I might think to myself I'll justify it to myself this could be good content this is the thing I'm going to do and that I think is knowing that I am capable of pushing myself in that direction if I want to is what also makes me go I don't go near a casino then because what's the downside of pushing myself in the letter I don't make it and I look I feel like I look silly because I probably wouldn't look silly I mean any sillier than I already look but like I don't think that's a problem but it is a problem if I do it with real life money and gambling right it is a problem if I take up drinking and then become an alcoholic which again I stay away from that I have a family history of alcoholism so I'm just like when I was in my early twenties I was like you know I don't enjoy that I'm going to stop that so I did and I'm not ashamed to talk about it you can tell anyway it annoys me that I can find myself thinking about the 11 times multiplier and whether I have it whether I should go for it and what I should do to keep it when I keep trying to say out loud to myself and to you all that I don't care about that but clearly that may not 100% be true I think there is something there and I think my self worth is tied up in that more than I wanted to be and when I said there wasn't any resolution to this this episode this is where I'm at right I don't have an answer to this and even saying that I don't have an answer this is something I said to my wife all the time she goes I don't know what the answer is to whatever problem is going on like kids behavior our finances all of the stuff like like look around you everybody's having trouble with their finances this isn't just an us thing like and she'll say I don't know what the answer is and I keep trying to say that isn't necessarily an answer there is maybe something we could be doing better but that doesn't mean it's an answer an answer like when you say six plus nine there is an answer and that answer is 15 right 14 isn't an acceptable answer 16 isn't an acceptable answer it's literally 15 but when we look at our financial troubles there isn't necessarily an answer to that the way there is an answer to six plus nine six plus nine funny but there is directions we can take there are strategies we can use there are things we can do that either help us manage what the situation we're in deal with what's going on or just feel better about things you know there are ways to do it there isn't necessarily a single answer and I think too often we look for an answer in life and I just said that I don't know what the answer is to my having self worth tied up in my letter finish is there an answer for that or is it just that I need to keep doing what I'm doing now which is talking through it until I better understand the impulses and why and what I'm after is it just social pressure is it just that I exist in a society and therefore that pressure exists around me and I can't escape it no matter how much I want to I don't know I think that might be part of what it is but again I said no resolution so let's not have a resolution and I see looking at the recording because I'm on the balcony it's easy look at the timing thinking now I actually I'm curious I've noticed a couple of little pops in the recording like these moments where it drops out just for a split second and I don't know whether it's because I'm carrying it in my hand and it's moving around maybe I'm supposed to be attaching the recording device to my bag so it's at least more stable I feel like I headed my hand so I could always check to make sure it was still recording or that the volume thing hadn't been bumped so I'm just curious as to whether I get any little pumps pops or glitches today's episode because it's just sitting on my lap not moving and I can see the thing and we're already past 15 minutes so I should get into the gameplay and I just realised I did not turn the volume up so we know the rules I have to do the thing I've to do half so anyway the deck we're playing today is the one I talked about last episode that didn't talk about the the Draenai warrior Draenai Draenai it's pronounced brand-dran by Leo Robles Gonzalez lead designer for the Great Dark Beyond also got legend with this deck which is Draenai warrior and he remembered he did a song where he said how to pronounce Draenai and I must remember that looking at H.S. Guru stats this is not the most competitive deck but you can play the not the most competitive deck and get legend with it Leo did Leo's probably better than I think he's letting on also probably plays a lot more concerts here we go volume up I would have to say this morning oh right mate it's a wee bit hot inside you know I'm trying to remember like half would be half is in the tavern half is a dwarf and dwarf start in near Ironforge which is snow all right the snore bit more to me it's a kind of kind of played by this heat there we go the extended half of this nation's money so I'm going to try this Draenai warrior out and you know thankfully it's out of month I can do what I like and if I don't win it's fine I've played one game so far on the level of this month it being the second it's about right it was with armor wallock with the starship and I trounced a it's called an infinite warrior control warrior decks now are just going hard on fizzle why that infinite are they soldering I don't remember but I'm pretty sure they were a control infinite warrior I like I've not looked at it because I don't want to play a game that goes infinite I was like if people are going to be toying with that kind of stuff I'm going to play a wheel of death which is what I did and I gained a bunch of armor and even though they yelled to my starship so they could gain a bunch of armor wheel of death won the game haha anyway there was the game I played this month so now we're going to play Draenai warrior from Leo Robliss Gonzalez minty fresh lead designer senior designer in our town why am I seeing smoke so I'm on my balcony I can see across the street we we live at a tea intersection we look down the tea apartment across from us I can see smoke why would they be burning something in their backyard that's the stupidest thing I've seen in this heat I hope that's an intentional fire not an institutional fire because that would be worse there's some young men who live in that apartment and I like to be charitable but if they're intentionally burning today bloody idiots it's not coming out of their chimney why don't they have a fireplace gun I don't know I'm concerned you know I just play some hustle and they're trying to exorbitals and all that long-term listeners will know that bushfires are a thing in Australia and I've talked about a lot before all right here we go minty fresh is Draenai warrior I couldn't even tell you all the names of the cards in this deck I can't even tell you what this deck is supposed to do other than I guess just curve out one draenei into the next and beat people down I don't know what our plan is if we need to go in a long game I guess we'll just figure out I think I think the plan is you just curve out and hope it's good enough and for minty fresh it was apparently so let's go 11 times multiply and standard we're currently bronze seven thanks to the one win I've had so far anyway let's try this draenei warrior I was pleasantly surprised to see that I must have had a second of the epic 72 I can't remember what it's called stalwart something stalwart the 72 warrior draenei that's 72 or New York turn 27 on their turn I got two of that in golden so it's a fully golden deck nice doesn't usually happen with the rogue decks okay so it's a hunter now hunter is probably discover hunter but it could also be the hunter deck we played last episode so we have an opening hand we have a stalwart wanderer which is the 1-1 battle cry thanks draenei play against plus two of us we have a nice wayfinder it's 4-4-4 it's buffed our battle cry game 2 bonus random effects and we have a captain's log which is the 4-1-1 draw two cards cost 1-3 straight now you have if we throw away the captain's log selecting that right now then we still have a 1-4 drop and that's just not good enough so we're going to throw away the ace wayfinder as good as that's going to be on turn 4 we just want the one drop and we want to follow it with a 2 drop and a 3 drop and I think we just want to out curve this hunter I honestly don't know that we are better than being on the board than the hunter is but if we get the drawer and they don't I think we can do it can't really see what they're doing with their hand in this light I can't see it at all the brightness is down on my phone we got back a 2 out of 3 so that'll do so what's our 2 our 2 looks like it's a weapon it says your hero attacks give all of the draenei hand plus 2 attack it's a 2-2 for 2 weapon nice the 3 is an expedition sergeant it's a 3-9 or 3-4 draenei battle cryin' an extra any play immediately attacks the enemy fine great so we played the this thing here which is the starlight wander on one it's a 2-1-4-1 the next draenei we play is going to get plus 2 plus 1 which is probably the expedition sergeant at this point so that would make it day 5-5 there's a vicious slither spear and a coin and a sneaky snake well clearly we play the weapon and we trade into this vicious slither spear because that seems good we have a 4-drop now perfect the other thing we got in our enemy hand was Velen by the way that's 7-drop legendary the 4-drop is unyielding vindicated battle cryin' an extra any play gives hero it's attack for that turn alright so we're gonna have a lot of attack on turn 4 and stuff anyway so weapon the 2-1's trading into the vicious slither spear it's currently a 3-3 so we're gonna take 3 doing that but it's gonna be gone even though we're just two sneaky snakes and I saw the 2-1 weapon now I believe we just buffs the yeah the draenei hand to have plus 2 attack which means the unyielding vindicated is narrow 7-4 the Velen is narrow 9-7 and the expedition sergeant is narrow a 5-4 and that expedition sergeant's about to pick up 2-1 as well so it's gonna be a 7-5 unless we attack the weapon again it'll be a 9-5 that's pretty good so let's see what these sneaky snakes do I'm guessing they're gonna go face putting me to 25 well the warrior has done something it was a bird washing alright so probably discover hunter sorry we're the warrior the hunter, discover hunter so they're probably they didn't attack they didn't attack with their sneaky snakes because they thought I was just gonna face tank it down on a weapon which they're not wrong so we've got an ace wife and a wayfinder just coming to a hand battle cry again two random bonus effects next dragon you play will gain them as well so we want to play the sergeant extend the next draenei play aluminum attack random enemies so I think we're okay with ace wayfinder immediately attacking random enemy next turn so let's play the expedition sergeant we're okay with it being a 5-4 snow a 7-5 seems pretty good on turn 3 and we're just not gonna attack the weapon because we'll probably draw another draenei next turn we'll be able to buff more things at then and also wago face with a two attack weapon when there's probably gonna be a minion to take out they have three mana this turn they use the coin on turn one so this is feeling alright what does valen do again seven mana seven seven taunt death rattle trigger battle cries death rattle is your other draenei paid scan this could be pretty good if we get to the other display another vicious slither spear a bunch of bananas on the vicious slither spear and another bunch bananas on the vicious slither spear making a 5-5 alright alright so let's see if we play the ace wayfinder it's gonna get two random abilities and according to this expedition sergeant it's going to randomly attack an enemy so if it attacks into the vicious slither spear which has bananas on it which is currently a 5-5 it'll die unless it has random abilities that cause it to survive we can in face tank it with the weapon to finish it if we need to the snakes have an attack what's more likely is it's just going to attack into one of the snakes now I could also I've also just drawn a second ace wayfinder by the way I can play the unyielding vindicated battle cry the next draenei play gives you hero attacks so it's not this turn it'll get it but this thing's a 7-4 so if it attacks the vicious slither spear at least it trades and then the ace wayfinder will give us a bunch of tactics and sorry let's let's see what this thing does so it's going to attack something immediately it traded into the vicious slither spear you love to see it so we go face for 7 with our expedition sergeant put an M23 do we want to attack with our weapon yet we don't need to we've got three draenei in hand we'll probably have a fourth one next turn and we would only be going face with it so we'll just buff something extra next turn the next draenei we play is going to give me a bunch of extra attacks so clearly we are attacking next turn so they're just played Titan push traps and traded it and then sorry forged it and played it forged and played Titan push traps two secrets if our expedition sergeant hits a freezing trap are we upset the sneaky snake still haven't attacked by the way are we upset I mean a little bit but we can't just never attack again the ace wayfinder is going to give us a bunch of we play a draenei this term we get a bunch of extra attack so we have to go face we've just drawn a crimson commander so three man of four three bell cry and death rail give all the draenei hand plus one plus one so I think we can play that in hero power this turn just because it'll give us a bunch of tech we go face we've got everything else in our hand let's see what the secrets are first go face with this thing it connected we're just attacked our opponent in 16 all right let's play this crimson wave commander here we go and that's given us plus six tech plus four attacks we're taking that's 10 okay so we now have a seven five ace way firing hand and a seven five ace way firing hand and a twelve eight vellum neither secret has popped so I'm not going to hear a power I'm just going to pass ten I'm on 27 because I think one of those is hidden meaning so that would be the free three drop if we spend all of our mana so here a pairing would do that rat trappers may be the other one that's a pretty bad one for this ice trappers the other one properly which means it'll make a spell cost one more bunch of bananas on one of their snakes they don't have 10 help though it can't be good for them there's an alien account is now that's good for them cost two mana and then there's a mental shaper which cost two mile which is a five five pretty good so they're attacking two snakes into our crimson commander which makes it buff stuff in their hand again we got six miles to him we're gonna play an ace wayfinder it's gonna reduce the captain's law we just drew to two we play the captain's log it'll probably a make so the hidden meaning pops and be get ice tracked back to my hand I think it's unlikely that they will pick rat trap unless there was particularly bad it's not explosive trap it's not freezing trap so we need to attack our minions one of these two five taunts and we need to play an ace wayfinder they're both eight sixes so let's see what we get from the ace wayfinder first is it rush nope it is reborn and what's the other one I can't see what the other is oh life steal that's nice now what if one of these secrets is a bait and switch with they've attacked to open that up for if I take my seven five into their two five I don't trade the bait and switch and it does trade my minion off the board we can play ballon next turn that will pop the bait and switch we can also just play another bass wayfinder and we'll get the next right now we'll get them as well we probably want balance here though so let's all right let's see it wasn't bait and switch we're also not going to hear if I'll play the captain's log so I'd say it's definitely a ice trap and definitely hidden meaning which meant if we'd played the captain's logs turn that sort of triggered both those which would be bad so they serve a two five taunt and a five five we have an eight six reborn life steal and a seven three they're on ten there's agramar spinning all their mana pretty good their weapon gets plus two attack and makes them immune you kind of need to and they're face tanking the seven three down and then going face for seven putting me to 20 now I'm in the sewers life steal so that's good okay so what have we got here we've got a stranded space man let's say two mana two three battle craving stranded you play this turn against plus two health and rush now I'm liking this because it costs two and the other ace way and find across three so this will give the ace way find a rush the more important thing here is that we play the ace way finder it's going to pick up two random bows fix to give the next one to the next minion the last one we played was an ace way finder and we don't want that thing to be losing some of its abilities by raining them so we want to play the stranded space man first and then the ace way finder that will not spend all their mana not triggering the hidden trap we're not going to play the captain's log that's not triggering thing and then we can play Val and next turn I think that's pretty good because anyway I think that's right so we attack in notice play this thing first stranded space man first because it's going to get the next one rush it also gave itself reborn and life steal so this one now is going to rush great and it's got taunts and reborn very nice so it attacks into the scrungut fits there and then my life steal one can go face putting them to two healing us at 20 and that seems good so they have an aggro hour and a 5-5 mental shaper their weapon is 5-2 and makes them new while attacking there's a rangary scout there's a tracking they're really thinking of something because they are in two life and I have an 8-6 reborn life steal I have a 2-3 reborn life steal I have an 8-6 reborn taunt now of course when it comes back it'll just be a 4-1 but that's fine the rangary scout is a 3-3 so they must take it up for bird watching it gave them a tracking they're really digging for something but I don't see what they've got because they need to be finding a couple of those alien encounters there's another tracking they've already had one they need a bunch of alien encounters just type themselves and what I'm going to do is just play a big Val and next turn a 13-19 taunt death rattle and it'll trigger all the battle cries it seems pretty good so the rangary scout's getting a bunch of stuff there's a titan force traps they're just one secret I think and of course that scout gives them one yeah but they're in a bad shape I have a 8-6 taunt and they have a 5-5 and a 5 attack weapon so they're using the hero power to gain them so the titan ability to get draw them a card so they're attacking to it it's they're immune because they're making draw a card what they get there's alien encounters created by rangary scouts they've got a lot of taunts this is good for them goodish now they have to attack the 5-5 into it so that's good for us and there's a scary keychain scaring them a two drop and getting a couple copies so this is good for them they are on two it's not great but they have got four taunts but the Valon is going to be nice for us so of note here we're going to play Valon Valon will make my spell cause 0 or play it ice trap will go off making it cost one more and then I get to play it and then that'll trigger their hidden meaning their borders for but I'm going to kill some of the minions so that will give them a three drop so the meaning we just drew by the way was trouble mechanic but let's say that we'll play that next turn to soak up all the things that we have maybe not actually because we want a big dread anyway let's not get ahead of ourselves we can take out two of these taunts not all of them we should take out two of these taunts let's play Valon let's play captain log for 0 mana just taking out their ice trap there it is and now let's eat one scrungog two scrungogs and I am using up my 4-1 wayfinder here because I don't want to perform in these play you never know when they're going to be playing mind control tech so they still have an ag a 3-3 air and goary scout a 1-1 scare key chain of two 2-5 taunts they're on two they've got two secrets in play one of which I'm pretty sure is hidden meaning and one they picked up last two which is not freezing trap but could be explosive trap it isn't bait and switch so could be explosive trap all right there's the last ability from agroir so their their last charge of the weapon is 5-1 and their immune and it draws them a card and it gives them a 3-3 taunts their face tanking valon valon still has four health left that's drawn them a card and some of the 3-3 taunts pretty good oh the captain's log back in my hand is non-golden now how rude so they've got eight mana they've got only one board spot currently they're attacking the rangary scout and the scary key chain into valon valon's got reborn by the way that's gross so we're just uh there's the expedition sergeant there's the ace wayfinder there's the ace wayfinder battle prize there's the Crimson commander that's bucking on hand is the unyielding vindicator there's the starlight wanderer my gosh they're the straightest spaceman snakes and crimson commander so and then they play the secret stakes so the trouble mechanic is narrow for three in hand and when i play it it's going to pick up multiple oh there's a jungle gym doing one damage random things okay they've got a lot of beasts that's doing let's kill some of my stuff a lot of my stuff well not a lot of stuff now they're attacking into the thing okay but valon's valon's doing a lot of battle cries and death rattles again so the trouble mechanic is narrow five four is going to be bigger than that it's going to be like six five crimson commander going off lots there and then they're attacked into my other thing that healed me back up to 30 so i've got a reborn ace so i've got a second jungle gym interesting i'll create a scary key chain oh that's where it's wrong okay because i don't usually run there but that killed all my stuff my minions and then they're trading the other one cool so i'm on 27 they got two secrets in play we know it's not freezing we know it's not ice trap we think it's hidden meaning and maybe expose a treble rat trap so we've got a five-cost captain's log a six five troll mechanic that cost two sets play that oh what have we got it explodes of trap oh because it attacks immediately it went face oh oh that's um that's unfortunate it's not picking up lots of extra abilities so i can see that it's like a ten nine ten eleven but it's attacking a second time but it doesn't matter so my opponent has two jungle gyms in play and five minions and on two health but but the one of the abilities that um i had played a draenei for that valen had repeated and valen repeated twice because it had reborn so it died twice uh one of the abilities the draenei abilities was attack immediately and it ran a enemy so the first thing it did was attack i was like why did i expose a trap just trigger when i played this thing oh because it went face while my opponent was on two so it attacked my opponent for looks like about five or six then a whole bunch of other abilities went off from playing because it was picking up all the other uh your next draenei gets abilities uh like the ace way finders things and it went to attack something else but my opponent was already on negative four uh but the poof hey those draenei came together quite nicely didn't they that's pretty funny i mean look that discover hunter was doing just what a discover hunter does which is it gets its act together we got them down to two by curving stuff out we we kept cards to have ourselves a nice early curve we went hard with that uh they were a little behind but did the right things to catch up and get into the point where well it's got to be hard for me to close out the game if i didn't have that valen i think if i didn't have the valen they would there's had a bunch of taunts they would have been pressuring me a lot i wouldn't have been able to catch up but that valen gave me an extraordinary amount of value um the fact that ace way finder gave valen reborn is very strong because the death rattle on valen again is repeat every battle kite battle cry and death rattle of draenei you played this game and so let's see there was the expedition sergeant which meant the next one the next draenei did what was it attack a random enemy i think it was right uh there was the ace way finder which is gain a couple of abilities and then also give the next one you play some abilities so we were repeating that uh and then there was the one that uh um battle cry death rattle uh give a draenei hand plus one plus one so we were doing that a couple of times just the fact that valen had reborn and was already huge like that was gross that's funny that was fun that was more fun than i expected a linear uh minion type deck to be so cool i don't expect the deck to play that well based on the stats i've seen on a hs guru i don't expect to play that well every time like i'm sure if you run into a control deck you're gonna be like it didn't feel very good but work for leo and work for us this game so we'll take it i still can't quite believe it that's funny i expected to lose this game was not to be sorry opponent anyway time for me to sign off see i still have fun with hosten right and that's the main thing we all have fun with hosten and i don't mind whatever my goals are on meta i don't mind that actually you know i i definitely don't mind that i find myself at odds with what i am saying and what i'm feeling about my experience with that and myself worth them all that i don't mind that because it gives me something to talk about in there not that i'm ever hurting for something to talk about this i mean there are times when i'm like oh what am i gonna say tomorrow and walk to work and work for hosten and podcast well i don't know but like if i'm recorded 1,393 episodes so far i've always found something somehow sometimes shorter than others perhaps but like we clearly are getting there so it's not a problem that's fine it's totally okay and i'm all right with that i'm sure you are too especially those of you who have been listening for a long time even when i like and i think there's value even in just rehashing topics that i've touched on before because i'm sure i've talked about this before but this is one of those topics where every time i touch in it's important i think it's important for me especially to belabor the fact that i'm not perfect because you know how it is with social media and stuff like that people often present one side of themselves and they present that perfection but i'm also willing to say like because you might say look at ah easy the perfect family i posted our santa photo and discord and i was like oh look at that lovely family it's not perfect we yell at each other and i'm not just talking about us and the kids as adults we yell at each other because life is hard and frustrating and we don't always get it right and things but also we love each other and we're still together like life's not easy life's not perfect and neither should you expect your performance to be or you're responsive to something so when i sit here and go like i don't really like that i still care about 11 times modified when i say i don't i'm fine with it it gives me something to talk about it's all work in progress it's all growth you know time for me to sign off haven't figured this out yet because we've changed things up a lot have started doing um some i i'll talk about this even though i've gone on over time so i was walking with mongoose couple days ago we're talking about advent calendars because it's almost December well it's December now but then it was almost December she goes you know i want i want to poke on card advent calendar where he's like a each day is like a booster cards i was like yeah that does sound kind of pricey though she goes well i mean obviously i can't do that so i'll just get like i'll just get some packs i'm so open one each day i'm like do you know how much 24 or 25 packs of pokemon cards is going to cost you like you try to wait to find them at six dollars a pack when they're on sale supermarket as opposed to like seven dollars a pack from the shops like that adds up right we're talking 140 for 20 packs kind of thing like don't expect to get away with under like 150 bucks for this if you're lucky like you say oh well it could just be one card a day you could do one card a day i was like well that is more manageable but i don't think that exists in a bit later if you do it now we're not doing it now she goes it's a cool idea though right i was like yeah you're right this is a cool idea also uh steven sensei pointed out in discord that apparently it does exist you can buy one of those well was it steven sensei or was it someone else it wasn't steven sensei it was ron foster on blue sky ron foster used to work for wizards at the coast for the long time he was the wizards the coast liaison in japan so i used to hang out with ron a lot every time i went to work a wizard at the coast event in japan then he moved back to seattle because he had a japanese wife and some kids that he was raising over there he's like yeah maybe we should move to a back to america to raise them there this was during the obama uh presidency so i think he thought it was a good idea at the time i'm not so sure harry feels now anyway uh also at some point wizards laid him off because wizards is a game company and that's just what happens in game companies which i think sucks because i think ron was great but also i can see harry games company might have thought he was superfluous now which is a shame so i hadn't really talked to ron for a long time but i posted this on blue sky this morning and he responded pokemon centred does do this like wally moly i would like to hang out and have uh didn't with ron in japan again i don't think it's going to happen uh ever but i have good times of hanging out with him in japan over the years and i think sometimes that's what's important it'd be nice to think i can do it again it may not ever happen again but i do have the times they have spent with me anyway anyway that's beside the point i was like it is a good idea and you know what i'm going to do i'm going to open like a hostel pack every day and do like an advent calendar on blue sky just so i'm posting something on there more regularly something more personal and just random it's like no that's too many but what if i did one card a day and what if i just did like my my end of month rewards from november one a day so today i posted the first one the first card we opened was uh ethereal oracle and look honestly i can tell you i do actually know what all the cards are up to in here in the end of the month i opened all the packs and i took a screenshot of each card it was opened and i'm planning each day to write a post i was going to say tweet or ski to whatever they are about each one i'm going to post the card as it's opened and the card art and then just talk about them and post it each day people might like it people might get said jack of it i don't know no i'm doing it fun anyway so if you want to see that um follow me on blue sky at blue sky i don't actually know how that's supposed to work but seems like it's a reasonable alternative to twitter i see a lot of noise on there about how news outlets are saying blue sky is much better for them they're saying that their engagement is way higher on blue sky than on twitter and i had way more followers on twitter which really just supports the uh throttling of links that twitter was doing so i'm not really on twitter very much anymore i still have it but i think for the first time in a long time yesterday i just didn't read my feed usually i catch up to where i was up to from the day before didn't do it yesterday and i was like yeah i can't be bothered didn't do it and that's the beginning of the end for me i know that in experience it won't be the last time i look at twitter in the next while because i still get hazard and necklace from it but i know at some point yesterday was a watershed moment where i am now officially less engaged in twitter than i used to be so it is what it is but follow me on blue sky follow me on twitter if you must whole bunch of people in the other side of the world fire a podcast but it's i don't want to tell them that i'll explain what it is like i can't even reach out to him via email when i have a problem with the building like because he is kind of like he's the secretary for the strata not strata for the for the building committee anyway like you have to call him on a landline i know he has a cell phone but he's anyway anyway he's talking about that i keep thinking he's the one who's going to be eavesdropping from down below anyway though mr chips mr chips is a camp you didn't expect that well maybe from the name you did uh around the other side of the block gert nine one day we're walking around we saw mr chips and we're like hey there's a cat it's being awfully accommodating it let gert pet it gert loves cats she gets over excited so she doesn't get the pet cats very often but mr chips was very accommodating and let her pet him and they're like all right here we go this is good and some other kid came along they were petting them and after about 10 minutes mr chips did get a little bit fed up was twitching his tail i was like hey look okay check that body language that cat is no longer keen for the pets and gert was not listening and so she got a little scratch for her efforts which i was fine with because i was like look you gotta learn watch for that body language and that's what happens when you don't you know what i mean so it was controlled injury as it were anyway she keeps talking about how she saw mr chips and uh we wonder about whether we see mr chips again it's it's a bit unusual to see cats outside around these parts like they're native birds that would be at risk from it anyway uh yesterday there was a big thunderstorm rolled through a lot of rain and then it went away and i went out into the balcony to put something out in the balcony and suddenly i startled by moving out the corner of my eye and i was a cat and i was like oh and it looked at me and then it didn't seem too freaked out and then just sat on one of our balcony chairs and i was like hey cat i hate to tell you this our landlords don't let us have a cat but uh you want to chill there that's fine so just sat down i was like hey gert come not everyone there come check it out uh and she goes oh mr kitty cat i'm like okay just be quiet no we don't want to spook it i was like you know i he looks familiar and i got it and they checked the name texture enough it's mr chips again i was like oh we know mr chips see this is mr chips he's oh he scratched me on the finger i was like yeah he did but that was because he was a bit fed up look he seems friendly so she patted him again and he seemed content to just want to sleep there and he's like he would even put his paw over his eyes to be sleeping in the sun and it's like well okay next you know mongers and mum arrive back home from where they were i think mongers have been hanging out at a mate's house and they go out to see the cat as well and i was like can you see a phone number i should probably take someone say look mr mr chips is on our balcony and sure enough mr chips is on a camera and she was an older woman very nice and she's like yeah he's a bit of an outside cat because we used to live in the country so he'd always be hunting snakes and lizards and rats and things he brought a rat home for us the other day wasn't nice anyway so he's an outdoor cat and he seems to be an experienced outdoor cat he's clearly clearly enough not to get run over because it was probably nearly a month ago we saw him and he's still alive now so all right and she was she was quite happy to come and get him and so we chat about that and we guess we might see mr chips again but that made gert's day it was quite nice he does seem like a very lovely cat even if after 10 minutes he gets a little bit ropeable i did say he seems lovely enough that i felt like i could almost carry him home she goes oh no no no so i get the feeling that on his terms he's cuddly but if he's not then it can get and i get it like if a stranger is trying to carry him somewhere and he doesn't want to go there and he freaks out and runs that's not safe for him out there anyway so apparently he climbs over the back fence into our property so i guess we might see him again especially if he gets caught in the rain again just wants to shelter on our balcony anyway long aside talk to you later i'm four or five minutes after the sign off oh i don't think i've done that before well maybe he's still nice to have the mongoose clips
