Welcome to the Re-Roll Gaming Podcast, where I, Tanner Prentice, guide five of my closest friends through an original adventure playing the tabletop role-playing game, Pathfinder's Second Edition. In the World of Rail, five strangers brought together a resistance under the shadow of the Blackery Empire. Until everything changed. A villain and former lover named Hogoth fractured the plains of existence, ushering in an endless night and an era of undeath, all in the name of an undying dragon, Zarox. Now, the fate of rail is left to these five adventures. My name is Ayla, and I play Bo-Cantrell, a fallen Asmar and cleric. With Cosmios, the God of Fate as my deity. Hi, my name is Zane, and I play Cinder Lafayette, the halfling investigator with a dicey past. My name is Octavia, and I play Starlet Moonbow, Star, as she's better known by her companions, is on a mission to save her true love, Faya, from the Maiden of Spiders. Hi, my name is Latara, and I play Kiaran Nimone, the sadistic, the dolel champion of Emmon, who yearns for that redemption that is so far out of her reach. I'm Brendan Geier, and I am Frost, your new favorite cobalt bot, Berian, honor bound to protect and serve Grass Party, and oath bound to finish its mission. These five heroes are the last best hope to save Rell, but can they overcome this darkness that spreads under the shattered sky? Find out now on the re-roll gaming podcast. I ordered Pizza Hut for the first time in over five years last night, and I paid basically $40 after a tip for the worst pizza I think I've had in over five years, so I was wondering, what's your guys' go-to pizza? What kind of flavor? What toppings do you like? Well, the only cheap pizza...well, I guess there's two. The only cheap pizza I'm willing to eat are Domino's and Costco. I'm moderately sure he's saying what type of pizza do you like. Well, he's talking about buying Pizza Hut and finding it gross. He didn't say what it was. That's not news to anybody that Pizza Hut has grossed. I'm more just curious what your guys' favorite. What's your go-to topping situation? What type of pizza do you get from Pizza Hut? Well, I guess that I can answer my own question here, because I'm weird. I eat meat and stuff, but nothing beats just a good cheese pizza for me. I could probably agree with that. Every time I get toppings, I'm like, "Man, I wish I just got cheese pizza." If I'm doing toppings, I'm going just a shit ton of veggies. I mean, I used to have a regular that I really liked, but these days, if I am in the mood for pizza, I don't give a shit about how my body feels afterwards, because that's part of the pizza experience. I do extra cheese usually, pepperoni, black olives, and jalapenos. Oh, fuck yes. That's such an award-winning combination. For real. I used to add spinach on it and stuff like when I would do dominoes to the house we all have been for a while, but... Interesting. Spinach on a pizza is a very fine line for me. It's very easy to be way too much spinach. Yes. Wilty spinach just grows. Well, I think I would go more for more artisanal arugula or something like that before I'd go spinach. All right, why don't you relax? Yeah. I'm a lot. I mean, no, I'm going fancy now. I'm going all for it. I'm going all in. Yeah, no, that's not too fair. There's a few pizzas. Stuff crushes always a win. That is good too. There's a few pizzas I like for toppings. Recently, I had like a peppercini feta. That was pretty good. Oh, fuck yeah. That's not jummy. Yeah. I always like margarita pizza. If it's... I always like my pizza dipped in a margarita as well. Yeah, that too. Margarita with the pizzas, what I definitely met. All right. No. I think I didn't want to admit it for a long time, but you know, the night that Frost does. Sorry, I just said the hard left, just the middle of that conversation. I got something to tell you guys. I mean, the night that Frost does is as good at night as any to go ahead and assassinate my own character as well. I think that my favorite pizza, the one that I can always go to, and I know that it's going to be pretty good from anywhere that I get it, is just Hawaiian. Yeah. It's hard to fuck up him, and it's hard to fuck up pineapples. - Gross, no pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple. - No pineapple. - No pineapple. - No pineapple. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - No pineapple on pizza. - Most of the time the fucking, the pineapple is like too soggy for the pizza or like it's just not, the ham is like not cooked right. I just can't get behind it. - It's definitely like, if you have pineapple on pizza, it has to be properly like, perfect. That being said, my, okay. - My bad, sorry, my dog was going, he was being mad at one of the other dogs for like existing or something. - My favorite type of pizza. - Aila had turned me onto this and it is, it sounds gross on paper, but is so fucking good. Pineapple mushroom olive. - Oh my gosh, those are like my three eat like nose. I was gonna say, if I were to say it, no, it's pineapples, olives and mushrooms. - Oh, like the saltiness from the olive, the sweet from the pineapple and the earthy from the mushroom, mixing with the sidity of the tomato. - Weird, I try it, but like that's weird. - Couple ups in a lot of tomato. - Just tomato sauce, tomato sauce. - Is that like an extra saucy pizza though? - I like my pizza's extra saucy. - Yeah, I feel like it would be with those mushrooms. - I like an extra saucy pizza. - Yeah, I'm good with a lot of sauce. - I feel like it's a very like-- - It's a good sauce. - Marginal threshold of like, I don't know, you just can't have too much sauce on the pizza that completely ruins it for me. - I feel like there's an Italian listening to this who's like, I'm gonna, I'm going to kill you. We're addressing it. - To be fair, pizza was actually in the way we did it. - We did it in America. - Yeah, so their pizza was completely different. - That's what you get for taking, stealing that from the store. - Somebody took a calzone and went, I can cut this down the side and open it up. - That's not the only, that's not how it happened now. - If we're talking about pizza places though, which I know we weren't, but I'm talking about it now, there is this place in the town that I work in called Marcos and I'm pretty sure they're a big ass chain. So most people probably know about it. I didn't know about it 'cause I'm from Washington and I got here, it's like, what the fuck is that? It was the best pizza I have ever had, I think. - That's cool. - It was so good and then like a few months, like after I'd tried it for the first time, they just shut down in one day. No reasoning. - Oh, that sucks. - Like so the only other ones out in like a city that's like an hour or two away and that one's apparently not that good. It's like, wow, I'm just, I don't care anymore. I hate everything. - There was a place in Burian that was called Pizza Gallery that had the best pizza and in COVID, like their ingredients changed or something and they just, the pizza started tasting different and it was like losing a family member. - Yeah, real. - It's just so fucking understandable. - Is that the one that you had me pick up pizza at once? - Yeah. - Probably yes. - Yeah. - When we were shoving nine people into a one bedroom apartment to play D&D. - Yeah, fun times. - With no parking. - Ayla? - Usually me and Tanner are only on that. We're a really weird one that you think is gross or cheese any other time we don't agree on pizza 'cause I like, I'm like a pesto girly, like I like the pesto pizza. - Oh, I do like a pesto pizza. - I like artichoke and I like-- - Capresse is like my runner-up. - Yeah, I love it. - It's so good. - I don't know. I think I might be like intolerant of like nightshades, like tomatoes and stuff, so it's hard for me to enjoy. - Oh, it always fucks me up, yeah. - Yeah, tomatoes, even though I really like it. I do also-- - I think that's also why I can't do too much tomato sauce. It like just makes my mouth itchy. - Maybe it also happens. - Maybe it also happens. - That's a terrible sign of being allergic to something. - Is it supposed to hurt when you ate pineapple? (laughing) - Every time I have cheese, I shit for three days. That's normal, right? - It's-- - I don't shit, but I get really racy. - I think it's really racy. - That like, I have a couple of friends here that like are also just severely lactose intolerant and every time we're like, you guys wanna share a pizza? We're like, yeah, and then like one of us will be stuck in the bathroom and it's like, I'm gonna go check on her and then there's stuck in the bathroom, it's fucking terrible. - You gotta just take a lactase. - Yeah. - I don't have time to carry those bitches around on me. - I don't even, I don't wanna go buy a Costco. - Costco has them in like the single pack. - We don't have a Costco here, only Sam's. - How do you not have a Costco? - Because Walmart took over the stupid tiny-ass town. - I think they took over the entire state of Texas. - Yeah, I'm pretty sure. - Speaking of pizza, I'm about to cut off a pizza fross ass. - Yeah, you're right. - Take a bite. - Where we last left off, Frost was chasing his prey. You shut your mouth, Latara, I'm in the middle of some. Frost was chasing his prey. Whatever roll they are, I'm praying. (all laughing) Through the halls of Castle Niketop turning the corner, he was greeted with a ghastly sight, an undead priestess with a large scythe and her horrible stitched together undead minion. What, Latara? This better be important. - I'm gonna have to sit in for our normal tan here and say, no, you're going on timeout for saying that joke. - Oh, which one? - You can't put me on timeout, this is my show. (all laughing) - We could just all stop our recording, just let take this thing. - I guess technically you couldn't do a general strike. (all laughing) - Please don't. - Now, this-- - Don't buy his pizza. - This hag with its remaining two actions. - Runs past its allies and around the corner. - No, she's just doofsin' out then. - This undead priestess steps forward and says, "Well, well, well." - Wait, unexpected. Are you with gruff, perhaps? - And you can feel the mask of gruff, radiating heat like it's never done before. You felt a slight warmth, but it is almost burning. Where do you keep it, like on your belt? - He's wearing it over as coder. I was gonna say like a cup. (all laughing) - Yeah, I think it's secured. Yeah, probably just on the outside of my belt. Not necessarily on display, but not necessarily hits me. - Like one of those horse things that catches all the poop. - Maybe we fashioned it into a pauldron. - You feel the heat rising and rising. However, it is currently Bo Cantrell's turn, almost a world away with his allies on a rope, like a weird scene in Scooby-Doo. Bo, what are you doing? - Kinda keep tryin' to get up this fuckin' rope. - Give me three athletic strikes. Boom, boom, boom. Cinder, you're on deck. Get 'em ready for me. - Yep, preroll. - I assist that first one. - What in the preroll pop? - First one, you get a plus one. - 18. - Success, five feet. - Three, 10. - Failure, and then success. So 10 feet total. Cinder, it is your turn. - 15, 24, 26, so is that 25 feet? - 25 feet, you got it. - Okay, almost three quarters of the way up this rope at this point. - Karen, you're on deck, but it is now this priestess turn. And you actually might be playing 40 chests here. - Brennan, because I had to not really prep this creature very much, so I don't know all the things it can do. Perhaps that was on purpose. - It's going to start by spitting at you. - Does that do anything? - Ow, yes, it's my one weakness. Please don't alert you all as you're in turn to do that successfully until I'm done. - Are you around? - I just got his mouth wide open. - Oh my gosh, it's just faking. - Just kidding, I hate all the time out. - This creature is going to walk towards you, but stay a good 15, 10 feet away. And then it is going to cast a spell. Go ahead and give me a fortitude save as this creature raises its pale palm towards you and crushes. - I'm a master. I treat a failure as a success as a success and a success as a crit success. - For fortitude saves? - Yeah, it's a barbarian thing. - Crazy, okay, awesome. - That's fucking rad. Let me double check that specifically. I know a success as a crit. I'm not sure that a failure is a success. - Okay. - Defining this thing. Okay, yeah, just success to crit success. And you got a 24, 22, 22, that is a failure. - At least creatures were like prepared and already in the initiative. - No, I just added them to the initiative. - But like they're not like caught off guard so they get in on the next round or anything? - Why are you making up for rules? What's going on here? - Oh, I was thinking the same thing. - You gave the Hagen frost a hole around before we were involved, so I don't just check it. - She's been running through this hallway screaming help me, help me, something's attacking. Please get all the guards help. - Okay, good point. I'll give you that one. - Thank you. I appreciate that. Okay. You're going to take a total of 37 void damage as she saps some of the life from you. - What did I say? 37? - 37. - Okay. - No, he said two. - Oh, interesting. - Yeah, that was pretty reasonable. - She, like she did roll higher on the initiative then, or are you just like putting them in there? - No, she's an initiative. She went after Cinder, oh Cinder, I guess you added. No, you, you went, Cinder went, and now it's Keir on stairs. - Okay. - I got 27. - Okay, great. - That puts me at Po. - Okay. - So I assist. - Okay. - Excuse me. Should we up this fucking rope that I'm barely making it up? - It is the former Frost Knuckles turn lumbering towards you. - Oh, I guess. - Oh, that's who this fucking is? - I mean, I figured that was, but we hadn't confirmed that. - Unfortunately, Frost does not know this, but I don't think Frost knuckles. - Nope. - But yes, this is the remaining of Frost as he lumbers towards you in a slow, zombie-like manner and goes to swing at you. - Ooh, ooh, almost bad, but good. 33 to hit. - That's a hit, not a crit. - Ooh, okay. Pretty low on my damage, almost minimum, 12 points of bludgeoning damage. - Yeah, that's not done. - And Frost, it is now your turn. - Frost is hurting, but he knows he's built to decide on a target and take him to fuck out. And he knows that this other hag that's been running from him is not faster than him. - Does he also know that he has probably a healing potion in his inventory? - He knows that this hag is the only one who knows that he's not alone and she hasn't exactly said that yet. But yes, he is aware of the healing potion. - Yeah, we discussed it and had it all on our bolts and stuff at a time. - Yeah, I think I'm gonna go ahead and use sudden charge again. - You have to tell me through or something, right? - Yeah, you can't write that. You've got to tumble through opponents. Barreling charge. - You're one of them, right? - Barreling charge is a, well, I guess, yeah, I don't. Barreling charge is its own two actions. Okay. I'm gonna use Barreling charge. - Enemies aside to reach your foe. You stride, attempting to move through enemy space and make a melee strike. - Roll an athletic check and compare the results. So afford to DC to each creature of space. You try to move. Okay. - Yeah, I'm not sure if that's saying that I make a melee strike for each enemy that I... - No, you have to make a athletics check for each enemy. So... - When it looks like you could get through there without having to push her aside. - Yeah, you would just have to do an athletics check against the fortitude DC of this big creature. - Okay. - Okay. - That's gonna be... - Come on, baby. - That's a natural one. - God damn it. - For 19. - Yeah, rerolls. - Nope. - You tried to move past it and its lumbering form just does not yield to your strength as you just push into its flesh. - That probably, would that take both actions still? - Yeah. - Do I still get my melee strike? - I'm moving through your space behind you. - But ending your movement before entering their space on a, wait. - Yeah, in other words, I stop dead in front of him, which is, you know, I don't move at all. - But you still get your strike, right? - I think you still get your strike. So you can strike this creature. - I will strike this creature. - Rolled it. That was a really cool idea. I was like, oh, he's got it. - Man, that would have been great. - I mean, I don't frost specifically to, like, single out and destroy a target. Unfortunately, we're all slaves to the Nat one. So, you know, yes, we are. - Yeah, that's a fucking lutely. - That could have been almost anything else. And I bet I would have made it through him. - Yeah. - You would have been able to reach her. So. - Don't you move? Two moves? - There's no way she's faster than me. - It's one movement action. - Oh, I thought he said it was two move actions. - No, nah, sudden charge. Well, okay, with barreling charge. Yeah, I had forgotten that I had to swap that out. - So did charges two actions? - Yeah, two moves. - Yeah, two actions for two moves in the story. - I mean, it would have gotten you, you know, close for sure. - What'd you roll to hit? - That was a 29. - That's a hit? - Okay. And he's gonna take. Not sure the wrong thing, but I rolled in at 20. That's funny. (laughing) Nothing. He's gonna take 38 damage, six of which is cold. - Okay. - You deliver a decisive slashing blow. Rip, wait, I'm sorry. Is this slashing? - It would be slashing. - You see that your attack seems to have great effect. - Okay. - As you rip it open from shoulder to stomach and it's innards start falling out these pale translucent intestine, but it is still moving towards you. You have one action left. I'm gonna go ahead and roll another strike. That's gonna be a 24. - Hits. - Wow. - 24, 39 damage, six of which is cold. - Again, your slash seems to rip open more flesh than you even intended sinking into great effect. - It is now starlet moonbows turns. - You're gonna try to climb up as far as you can. - Okay, roll some athletics. Bow you are on deck. - Doesn't, oh no, that was when you were a cat. You had like a climb, a better climb speed or something like a... - That was a hole. That was DD. - Okay, I just missed it. - Well, we're doing athletics or acrobatics because acrobatics... - Athletics. - Yeah, I'd really prefer if this was acrobatics too, but I don't see why it wouldn't be athletics. - Terturing it like that traversing, like an upward thing. So that to me seems more acrobatic, but 21. - Climbing a rope vertically up. That's a great-- - 10 feet. - The way I've always heard it put that I've always liked is that athletics is going up fast. Acrobatics is more coming down fast. - Sure, that's pretty cool. - You're, you're caught up to me, amo. So I can't move any further, is that what we're saying? - Good. - If you, go on. - I was wondering if she could do like an acrobatics to get around and then keep going. - Sure, oh wow, that... - Yeah, that'd be kind of cool. - I'd say DC 15 acrobatics if you want to wiggle around them. - I got a 20, unnatural. - Okay, and then you have one more action, you can do a climb check to kind of eclipse them. - 19. - Okay, that is a success, so five feet. - Okay. - Okay. Bow it is now your turn, cinder, you are on deck. - Okay. - You know what I'm gonna do. - Start with the end, get to where the country's at. - Nine. Natural 20, natural 20. - Okay. - Was the nine with the crit? - Yeah, wait, wait, with the assist. - Or with the assist, yeah. - Yeah, yeah, it was with a crit. - Nope, okay, that's 20 feet. - Well, five to get to star, so. - Yeah. - You get to star. - So, wait, how far you're at 40 now? - I'll say with your crit, you can kind of shove star up an extra five feet. So you both can go-- - Okay, so the stars are 45. - I'm so confused, so you said you weren't good to the math and now I have like my little pluses and then just tell me how much I will. - I'm at 50 feet. - Okay. - Okay, so I'm at 45. - 45, okay. (keyboard clicking) - Cinder, it's your turn. - I'm at 70 feet, 18, 11, and 15, so is that 10 feet? - That's 15 feet. - Sweet. So, 85 feet. - Okay, I can see it now. - I can see it now. - Well. (keyboard clicking) - Did we ever come to a conclusion? Did Cinder get pulled up by V when Frost hooked the-- - Sure, I'll give it to you. - That's okay, I just need to know what the threshold is for success here. - Feel Frost could have done that probably pretty easily. - Yeah. - Okay, it is now this undead priestess's turn. She's going to use her move action. - That's a good thing. - Too flank with Frost. - That's a bad thing. (laughs) I was at least one turn where she wasn't hurting me. One action where she wasn't hurting me. - And she's going to-- - She's not gonna have to tumble through to do that. - No, there's some space to this side. There's a, I'm tiny. - Okay. - Okay, she is going to try to hit you with her scythe. Oh boy. Not a good roll, but 29, you are off guard. - Let me add the condition off guard real quick, just so I don't have to. That I believe for some reason it takes-- - Okay, yeah, it's a hit, but still not a crit. - Okay, 16, five of which is void damage. - Hey. - And then she is going to try to reach out and touch you. Ooh. Natural one. - It ain't no good to touch it. - So she reaches out and goes to touch you and you just kind of back up just far enough out of her reach and you see this sort of pulse of black energy. You get the sense you don't want to be hit by that. - Well, I guess you don't want to be hit by any of this, but that is her turn. Yarn it is now your turn. - I suppose if I can pick and choose that probably does not look a good one. (dramatic music) - I crit, I'm at bow and assisting. - Okay, great. - And-- - Unless I probably can't move past bow 'cause I'm bigger, right, and stuff. - You can if you want to, that's fine. If you give me a successful acrobatics check, DC 15. - If I fail that, would I fall? - No, you just made no. If you crit fail, I'll probably give you a reflex or something. - Is there any way I could like have a reaction that's just trying to help get out of the way, like just help facilitate the routing? - No, you would have had to spent an action on your turn to aid. - Uh, 14, I'll just assist. I got 14, I'll just assist with my last action. - Okay. - Okay, that was Kieran. It is now this, the zombie frost knuckle. - And, mindlessly frost knuckles, sir. (laughing) - It's nothin'. - Mindlessly, it's gonna swing away with natural one on its first attack. - No, you're gettin' revenge on me. - Yeah, you're having a bad nightmare. - Nice, guys. - There's the bar, Tim. - 29 on the second attack. - Oh, right, jinxed it. - It, not a grit. - Okay, I should be rolling my gengard ice. It's cocked. 20 points of bludgeoning damage. - Ouch. - Frost knuckles. - They didn't doin' there, buddy. - Your turn. - You should get out, but-- (laughing) - Yeah, I'm gonna try another barreling charge. Which way? Towards where the hack went? - Oh, fuck. - Yeah. - You would've known it has had a full round as well. It's not out of initiative, it would've moved. Or maybe she's right there waiting for you, I don't know. (laughing) - Maybe she's got tea. - Just because she's off-screen doesn't mean she's just standing there like a character in Westview. - I'm going to, yeah, I'm gonna try to bust through the hack to myself. And then back the way I came. - Oh, bust through the creased? - Oh, sorry, the priest is to myself. - There's room, could you just move around her? - You could. These-- - Yeah, but I want to hit her all the way through. - You make an attack at the end of your stride. - Maybe you could just attack and then run around her if you want. - I see. - Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna... No, fuck it, I'm gonna run around her. - Okay. (dramatic music) - Okay, that's one movement. - If you don't like slip through that gap on the right. - It would have been the same amount of movement. - I don't know, I guess you could. - You would have been able to move further. - Yeah, you can go on the right there. I know it's tight quarters on the map, but that's a full space. - Okay. Is it one action or two to pull a potion off my belt and drink it? Two actions, draw it, drink it. I'm gonna make fucking tracks. I believe one of my feats gives me 45. Fleet. Now it gives me 40 feet. No. Okay, so, holy shit, my total speed when I'm raging actually is a 45. - Raging gives you a plus 10? - Yeah, from Furious Football's, which I got way back at level three, I always forget to look at it. And it doesn't read on my character sheet, but yeah, when I'm raging, I can actually move 45, so I'm here. - Is that something you could add to your rage buff? - I would do that. - I don't know, maybe. - I'll have to look at that off the screen. - Yeah, that has a lot of math to it. And I think if I use up all of my movement every single bit, I can get right back to the well. - Correct. - And I'm just going to cut the line. (laughing) - Do it. - Save yourself. - You'll check that all my friends are on the line and cut it. (laughing) This is gross. - I'm gonna grab. (laughing) - Yeah, real nice. Go ahead and die. I could've used your help up here. Yeah, I'm gonna get ready. I'm gonna stick my fucking axe in the ground and get ready to start just pulling and helping everybody else get up. - Wait, 45 is two actions to get inside, right? - Action open. Oh, the door's open. - The door's open. You could shut the door, right? - Yeah, I will shut the door. - Okay. - Still a free action to drop my axe. I don't think that's stuck in the ground, is it? - You don't need to, oh, you wanna drop it? - I'm gonna drop it and start pulling on this fucking line. - I mean, two hand again. - Yeah. - Okay. (dramatic music) - Use your axe to prop the door so that they can't open it. I don't wanna be a free action then. - Probably be an action. - Start is your turn. Bow you're on deck. - I'm gonna keep climbing the thing. - 28. - 28 is a crit, 10 feet. Bow pre-roll yours, please. (dramatic music) - 26. - Crit. - 10 more feet. - Oops, I rolled down one. - Mm, 22. - Crit, 10 more feet. - Okay, I'm setting it 80 right now. - Okay. - It's in there still in there, did Cinder get up? - No, I'm at 80. - So you're right behind Cinder. - I'm at 85 feet right now. - Yeah, I'm right behind Cinder. - Bow it is your turn. - 14, 15, and 11. - Okay, so 15 feet. Cinder is your turn? - Yeah. Five, one. 19. I only need 10 more feet so that I make it with that 19. - Uh, no, just under, unfortunately. - Oh, really? Oh, for five, okay, gotcha. Well, the next one's 22, so I should be out of the well now. - Yep, you are now out of the well and you see frost right above-- - Okay, yeah, Cinder exhausted after that climb pulls the ship out of the well and I think that's it, I can't move anymore, so. - Okay. - Kiaon, it is your turn. - Oh, 'cause we can't see them, so I was like, isn't it their turn? - Okay, I get to bow and I assist again. I rolled. - Okay. - Boop, boop, boop, boop, frost that is now your turn. - All right, yeah, Frost is basically just gonna start fucking, like, he's gonna grab onto the rope and start twisting and just winding it around its arm, around his arm. - All right, give me an athletic check. What, Kiaon? - I was just gonna say, while he's pulling, could he pull back into the door to hold it? - What? - One thing at a time, I'm trying to-- - Pull into the door? - Like, leaning against it. - Lean against it. - And hold the shit. - 37. - Wow, he's pulling a rope of three adult humans. - 37 is a critical success. - Everybody had 10 feet. - Fuck yeah. And I'm essentially just fucking, Cinder, you're probably just winded and you turn around and Frost is just fucking bleeding from all over his body, standing sideways on this well pulling up this rope and just wrapping it around his arm. - I am gonna say that'll take your turn 'cause I do think that is rather laborious. - Yeah, especially in my condition. - Star is now your turn. - Fuck is going on, dude. - Frost or if you bit, we've been climbing this whole time. What took you so long? - It's been hanging around. - 26. - 10 feet long. - I think-- - If I'm at 100% man out of the well. - Yeah, you're out of the well. - Okay, I'm out of the well. - Get two actions left. - I want to ready an action to, like, attack if someone comes to the door. - Okay. - Did you, though it is your turn. - All right, here I go. - A natural 20, natural 20 and five. It's the most natural 27 we've ever had and it's really not doing anything. - 25 feet. - Like your five feet away. - Okay, did you do that? - Cinder is your turn. - Cinder, I want to listen to see if I, 'cause obviously it seems like Frost was in an altercation with somebody, I want to listen to see if they're approaching this room or just see if I can get any idea of what's going on on the other side of this door. - Okay, give me a perception check. - Nat 20. - Natural 20. You're confident that there is nothing on the other side of the door. - Okay, who all is up here now at this point? Is it just Star? - It's, yeah. - Everybody about Ciara Nimbo. - 'Cause I want to say something, but it's like we don't really have time in this shiv right now to have a conversation about it. - Okay, it's fine, just go ahead. I mean, keep it brief if you can. - Well, yeah, I mean, I think Cinder's just gonna turn, especially to Star, actually, if Star's up here and just say, we're running out of time. We need to find Faya and leave and it's going to like motion towards the door like we should just go now and try to find her what we have time. (dramatic music) - Okay. - Can I have your turn? - Yeah. - Okay. I hear you, but splitting the party up historically has been a terrible decision for me. I'm waiting until everyone's out of the way. - Yeah, one moment, one moment. We'll get him. - This is such a hard climb for Bodey's finally five feet away, he's like, what? (laughing) What's there? - Leave that, okay? (laughing) Fuck no. - Last time I ditched everyone, fucking, cross-died, so, no thank you. - Is that your turn, Cinder, you got more? - No, I got more Cinder will kind of shrug and then take up a firing position, move, take up a firing position with her. Crossbow on the door. - Okay. - And that is the turn. - Karen, it's your turn. - I got three crits, so I'm right behind Bill. - Okay. - Frost, it's your turn. - We have, well, I guess it doesn't matter, I can't really put this rope down now until everybody's out or they'll lose that 10 feet I gave him, so I'm gonna go ahead and make another athletics. - Give it to me, keep winding. - Oh shit, almost from that one, 31 instead. - Okay, that is a regular success, you pull them five feet. - Okay. - I'm up, I was at the lip or out. You can be 100, you'll be out, yeah. - Yeah. - So bow you are out. - Help. - Starred is now your turn. - Let's see, Starred's gonna grab the rope and try to pull a Karen there's the way it works. Like if she's right there, she's gonna just try to pull Karen up. - How far down are you, Karen? I was five feet behind bow, so I'm right there. - Okay, give me an athletics check. - 24. - Okay, you pull Karen up out of the well, you are now all here. - Okay, can I interject to and just say, the door is clear, we should move. - That is not, it is not, don't. - No, I mean, like, legitimate late centered was able to determine that there is nobody on the other side of the door. Not saying that Frost shouldn't be healed as soon as possible, but we have a window that may be closing if they're bearing down on us. - Yeah, I think that I may start going to hand Frost, her moderate, or her minor healing potion. - Okay. - And say, well, now that everyone's out, I do think we need to go. - If we can get to a less conspicuous spot, we still have our disguises. (dramatic music) - Bo, it is your turn. - I, ah, I'm trying to remember. No, okay. I'm considering using my last healing spell on Ross, or I could just hand him a moderate healing potion. But I don't know what to do. 'Cause if I save my last one, I might be able to heal, like, do the cloud thing, or, you know, heal more of us, or-- - Dire circumstances. - Yeah, I mean, potions are harder to take in combat. So if we're out, kind of, it might be better now and save reveal. - That's very-- - Who's the slowest out of all of us? - Probably me. - Okay. - I'll give him my moderate healing potion. - So just while we're here doing this, I have a invisibility potion, and I have a dust of disappearance in my bag. And I also have a Cheetah's elixir. - You're muted, it was hard. Stop talking. Well, don't stop talking, but I mean, stop talking for nothing. - It's okay. - Really quick. I will say just to let this go a little more fluid, you guys have about a minute. What are you doing in the next minute? - A key iron would ask for our switch way and start and like open it and then like, turn and guard the other way, like they're not going. - Let me rephrase, you have 'em up to a minute or until you open the door. So before you open the door, just so we don't have to go through initiative, decide what you're gonna do. I am going to urinate. - Okay. - You have one minute. - Some child's face. - We can discuss our plan while you're going. - Yeah, skedad. - Yeah, I think Frost is gonna catch everybody up. Only one knows that I'm not alone. She's wounded, but escaped. Zombie, weak distillation, don't hit it with anything else. That's a dimensional door. You might not hear anything through it centered, but there's big trouble out there. - You're gonna drink this. - Yeah, I'm gonna drink a-- - Wolf of those minor. - A minor and a lot of it. - Yeah. - Well, should we wait to heal you up of it with potions or go now? - If we have one minute, I don't know. - Like, do you wanna chug a few potions before I open the door or should I go? - Yeah, I wanna chug a couple of potions for you to open the door. - Well, and also-- - I imagine. - I'll just invite again. - I'm just there. - I don't think it's a bad idea if two of us are not visible 'cause that will throw off or other people trying to attack us and shit. So somebody else wants one of those invisibility things. - Yeah, and if-- - Or Frosty, but that would be like fucking insane to have a barbarian that's, you can't see that is fucking people up. - Do you have two potions of invisibility? - I have a dust of disappearance and an invisibility potion. So-- - That's a disempirants. Keeps you invisible? - Yeah, it's a century greater invisibility. - Yeah. - Does the invisibility potion keep you invisible in combat? - No. - No. - Yeah, I mean, still it's a way to sneak around and get to where would be for us. - Yeah, but if I'm in close combat-- - It sounds like if the dust is the only one for combat, then we might save the invisibility and you just use the dust. - Is either we in your combat or we don't when we open the store. - Either way is fine. I'm just saying like if I can get close up on people, then you guys have the, like fuck, what is that feat that I have? It essentially makes it so that way you guys can fuck people up while I'm in. And if you're invisible while doing that, that's probably even better, right? So that you don't get hit. - It is, but-- - And everybody will be flat footed, do you, regardless? - Okay, I mean-- - So you get your sneak? - Give me options. - I was, hey. - Mm-hmm. - Don't attack me. - I was making sure everybody knows-- - Oh, look at that. - I'm just giving all of you guys options 'cause I'm notoriously bad at using my shit and like now is the time to use all of her shit, so. - It's true. - Karen will probably tell Cinder, let me get the door so that if they're right there, you're not getting hit. - Okay. All right, is this-- - Did we do the healing for us, for the potions? - Yeah, I think we're waiting until he takes some potions and then we're gonna open it. And I think, Starr, are you taking that Suck dust stuff? - I'm taking it one way open the door 'cause it's only got a direction of one minute. - Okay. - Or literally, I'll open the door as you take it type of thing. - Works for me. - Okay. You have to take it via snorting. - Yeah, that's-- - That's a bug. - It was actually gonna boof it. - Boof it in it, yeah. - Yeah, snorting it up your butt. Does anyone have any water they can spit in this tube that's going into my butt? - Are you staying right next to the door there? - I had a nickel. - Yeah, I'll stand all the way with you, just out of the way so that way I can swing open, whichever, I don't know if it's inward or outward. - I just wanna, I mean, Cinder moved in from the door before Ciaran did, so I don't know if he was going to be. - You can go there. - I'm gonna stand back here. Is this the door? Offices either room. - Very funny, visual here for our audio podcast. - Yeah. - That's why I was going to. - Now, let me get this straight. Ciaran's gonna open the door and what's happening? - Basically, I'm watching her disappear and then I open the door. - Okay. - Is that what we wanna do? - Unless, is Bo, is that where you wanna be? - Let me look. Sure, I don't know. - You don't wanna be like back away from the door in case they're right there? - Maybe, maybe I have a question, Tanner. - Frostful front and center of the door. - Is there, like, can I put anything on my character sheet that tells me I'm invisible, or is it just, like, I just have to read the spells and stuff? 'Cause I'm okay with that, I just need to know. - There's a stuff. - There might, oh, there's a, there's a condition. Here, I'll put it on you. See if that works. Does that work? - Yeah, I mean-- - I mean, most of the invisible stuff is gonna be, it's gonna affect 'cause the creature's trying to see you or whatever, so it's not gonna-- - Yeah, that's fair. - It shouldn't affect any of your stats, I think. - Okay, then yeah, yeah, it's there. Works really? - Okay. Kiaran, you go to open the door, and it's locked. No, just kidding, that'd be really funny, though. - Works really good. - Quick, back into the well. The door opens. Ooh, that's not gonna work out, uh-oh. I don't know how to cancel. Karen, can you remove this aura? - Are you doing anything with it? - Well, that just shows who's within my reaction, but I could take it off if you want. - Okay, no, it's fine. It's just the same color as my reveal, so-- - I could change the color if you want. - Sure, that would be awesome. - Let me see here. - This is one minute to 10 rounds, right? - One minute to 10 rounds. - Okay. - Okay. - There's the door open. - The door? - Sorry, I was just gonna say, I don't think that took us a full minute, though. Just putting that out there. - What? - I don't think we waited that full minute that you gave us. - Okay. The door opens. And there are no creatures in sight. - Oh. - Frost, which way did you chase her? - Should've let you wait on the dust, sorry. - Right, right, right again. We should go left. - Indeed. - Stealthy lead. - Left, left, left, left again. - Cinder is gonna, if it's clear, Cinder is going to push up. - Yeah, it stars invisible, so scout up. - Yeah, I mean, I'll probably take the lead, but you guys can't, I don't think-- - Oh, I can't see you. So I think I'm gonna lead, really sure. - Yeah, I'm a crop dusting you the whole way. - That's, we'll follow the leader on Cinder. - For stealth? - Yeah. - Okay. - If we can't see Starring. - Why don't you guys just tell me really quickly what your, we'll act like this is exploration, but you're moving fast 'cause this is happening. What's your plan here? - Cinder wants to move up to this door and listen. - Okay, roll perception, Star, what are you doing? - Uh, I mean, I think Star will probably go. Is this a door right here too? - Yep. - Star's gonna go to the far door and listen. - Okay, Karen, what are you doing? You're muted again. - Karen's gonna go right to the door, but I mean, the end of the quarter without peeking around, but just listen and kind of guard our backs. - Frost, what are you doing? - Dropping out a rage for one thing. I have drank several healing potions, including my own, and I believe I'm just going to sneak along with the party 'cause I can't rage again for a minute, so I need to stay out of combat for at least that long. Roll me a sculpture. Bo, what are you doing? - I think Bo's kind of staying at the door, kind of just waiting for the next move because it's stealth, he's just not that, so. - Okay. - Great. - If I had known that Frost was gonna need like a whole fucking round or like minute to come back with us, I wouldn't have done this. - You guys almost used a minute to heal up and get ready, so I'll say Frost's rage is pretty much ready to go. - Oh, okay, okay, before you took the day, that's fine. - Okay. - Cinder, Star, and Karen, give me your perceptions. Frost, give me your stealth. 19. - Okay, 29, 29, okay. - 26. - Okay. - Bo is also like just trying to perceive whatever's happened. - Yeah, give me your perception. - While he's peeking out the store. - Star, what'd you get? - I'm sorry, what was I? - Perception, fuck, I just rolled it in one way. The one that I had rolled before it went away was 19. - Okay, what'd you get, Bo? - 33. - Okay, nice. - Cinder, listening at the door, you hear nothing. You feel pretty confident that nothing's on the other side. Star, listening at your door, again, you hear nothing. However, I think your anxiety is a little spiked as of this moment, especially recounting sort of the decisions that led to Groff's death and how her frost looks. You hear nothing, but you're a little less confident in that. Karen, you said 23? - 26. - 26. You hear faint laughter echoing down the hall. You also hear very light footsteps. Do you wanna appear down? Do the footsteps sound like they're coming towards us? - They do. - I don't wanna appear, but I am gonna symbol signal, symbol, signal to the others, like a sound, like I can hear something into like hurry. - One thing I will say, these footsteps don't sound, it sounds like they're walking in a very casual speed. - Yeah, I'm still just gonna let 'em know, like I hear something and go. Do you have to drink water right here? You betcha. - Yeah. - There's a water dish in the other room. - Do you want some? - Oh my gosh, she's so fucking thirsty. - Yeah, she's been eating this bone like crazy. - Salty. - Pause for water? - Yeah. Do you ever see the clip of that dog who loudly slurping water for like a minute straight, while like the lady's on like a Zoom call or something, five feet away? It just like doesn't stop, it just keeps going. (laughing) Bow, with your 33, you look up and that pig with bat wings is flying in the corner, looking directly at you and one of its eyes resembles the pins that are attached to security cameras. - Cool, yeah. Okay, now in this next moment, what are you all doing? - Center's gonna firmly nudge this door open with her crossbow drawn. - Okay, I'm concerned about being stealthy. - Great. Star, what are you doing? - Uh, did that count us around? - Yes, we'll count that, no, that's fine. We can consider this all in the same round. - Okay, Star's gonna move up to this door and assuming Cinder's not all the way in yet, she's gonna like kind of whisper yell. I don't know if there's anything behind that last door. Can you double check it? - Shit, who's that? Jesus Christ. Yeah, that is brilliant. - She's gonna walk up behind you and go. - Fly right on the ass. - Right on you, right on your ear. - Okay, let's sorry. - Karen, what are you doing? - Uh, I'm continuing to watch her back, I guess. - Okay, for us, what are you doing? - I think Frost is just going to, now that Cinder is open the door, he's gonna barge through it and post a dead center. - Because Cinder hasn't opened the door yet. All you know is they are checking out the doors. - Karen had mentioned somebody is coming through and Bo, do you say anything, Bo, about the flying creature? - Sorry, I just bumped my mic and I was like, "Ah!" I don't know what I would say. I'm like farther back, right, than everyone. - You're right next to Frost. - Oh, then Bo would like, probably quietly tap and then point, I don't know if there's more time than that. - That's fine, quietly tap and point. - But no, I mean, can I do something else? - It depends what it is. - I was wondering if there's anything blanket like, 'cause I don't think it has hands, so do I just throw a blanket over it? - There's no blankets in this mossy. - Well, I have like a bedroll kind of a ticket, the blanket and just throw it. - I feel like a giant gross robe or something that this thing wears when it's like having its me time. That can be your next sort of action-y thing here. Frost, what are you doing? - So you're saying I can't go through this door right in front of me here with this action that I had been? - Oh, sorry, I thought you meant going bursting through the door cinder. - I thought cinder was talking about this door that I'm still standing at. No, Frost is-- - We've already - Going to post up and down, fucking, I mean-- - Bike yarn? - Here, bike yarn, just, yeah, I mean. - Okay. - The direction of all the slimy blood is probably spraying out of this fucking hag as she was running down the hall. - Great. - Yeah, there's a serious blood trail going around here. - Okay. - But just to throw it out there too, we all know that if you break one of those while they're looking through it, it could like stun them or something. - It blinds them for one hour. - Yeah. So-- - Bracing them though. - The brooch, the eye that it has, or the eye ball. - Okay. - Oh yeah, that's right, okay. - Does that change what you wanna do, Bo? - I mean, if we both had that in mind, I'm sure we could probably handle it, hopefully. So that would be-- - Well, tell me specifically what you're doing. - I don't. - Like, are you trying to break the eye and in what way? I can see two cats. - They're so cute. - They're so cute. - I'm right in there, so. - There's three. - There's three. - Oh my gosh. - There's three in there. - Oh my gosh. - There's one in the little house that's gone and there's me so up above. - If I took a snore of that scene, I would die. - That's a real tower, too. - Yeah. - We have to get anyone soon. They've been fucking up. - That's a company of kitty there. - Nobody would have been-- - Oh, I guess. I'd bled it was just kind of. - Oh my God, is that four cats? How many fucking cats? You guys. - Yeah, there's four in one side. - Those four are ours. That's it. No more fucking cats. - I want you to know that zero of them are my idea. - But that's true. Don't two of them are my idea. - Okay, Bo, what are you doing in this moment? - I guess I could use my helm that I have and try to zap it in my bowl. - Okay, taste it. - Taze it, roll to taste. - Okay. - Whatever you have to do. - Oh, remember how it works. - Get a ladder and a can of spring and get up there. - Taste time. - Two actions, lower your visor. - Taste time. - I. - Okay. - So this would be a reflex save. This is a object. I'm gonna say it just automatically fails and you do you want to do cold or fire? - Cold and then I'll like shatter it. - Okay, so you send out this beam of cold raising your Cassian helm visor and it completely envelops this pig light back creature, freezing it as it falls to the ground and shatters. - This is funny 'cause I was just kind of like tap tap and watch this shit, and then look at it. - You see that and then frost is gone. - Meanwhile-- - You turn around and be like, "Hell yeah, there, there." - Oh, she's gonna see that. - Oh. - Meanwhile, by this door that cinder is opening, both cinder and star, you can see in here and it seems like it's some sort of regal study. Bright oak shelving contains a multitude of books that match the magnificent desk that is the center of this private room. And atop this desk is an array of scattered scrolls covered of charcoal drawings, several sets of silver prongs that suspend a sharp weave of spider silk and a glass orb suspended in gold housing. But immediately star, you feel it shall run up your spine. As every one of these sets of silver pegs, for lack of a better word, spell out fire in webbing and maybe even being somewhat possessed by that reading everything, you walk towards the desk and looking at these charcoal drawings, they are all drawings of fire in various states of distress. At first, thumbing through them, some of them seem, and this is all happening so fast, some of them, the older ones seem scientific, accurate, depictions from somebody studying her, but the most recent ones are volatile and chaotic, obsessive. And we'll pick this up next time on the re-roll gaming podcast. - Interesting. - I'm gonna be whole game podcast. - Congratulations, Frast, for not fucking dying, take a re-roll for facing almost certain death. - Yeah, good Lord. - Yeah. - Oh, I did a lot of fucking damage too in about three rounds of combat. I did like, what a hundred and thirty- - I wanna say though, like when Tanner's like, you gotta trust me on this one. Maybe you don't take it that far next time. - Yeah. - Maybe you don't trust them that much. - That was a lot of trust, and I appreciate that. - It's, you know, again, it was a rock in a hard place. Okay, I could hop back down the well, drop fucking cinder and me in the fucking, the goo below 'cause I can't fly anymore, and I didn't hook the hook to anything. So like, we're going in the fucking soup. You know, I had that option. - I probably wouldn't have done something very simple. It might summon a bunch of shit down to the sewers to corner us down there. - Yeah. - I wouldn't have done something where you can throw. - Or judging by those first two hits, I had a pretty solid chance of taking out that hag, which was the only one that knew that I wasn't alone. So even if I got myself killed, I was hoping to like, catch and kill that info, you know? - I honestly-- - You will wanna attack away. One hit away from killing her. First, I'm sure. - I believe that. - I think that Frost did the best he could in the situation. - Totally. - The only thing that maybe he could have tried is to block the door and trap her in, but-- - Yeah, I was gonna try that, but-- - He didn't try. - He shut the door. - Yeah, he just didn't. - She was like-- - I mean, if he had thought about it sooner, it obviously is like hard to think of those things, but-- - Yeah, I wanted to grapple her. I just needed a thing, you know? - I mean, you're good. I'm just-- - It's never had the action budget. - I can't-- (laughing) - Thank you for listening to the "Reroll" podcast.
