A weekly mix of 106.7 the fan and 980 the team's best NFL talk to get you ready for Game Day. Rob, good morning. Good morning. How are you, buddy? We're all anxious to hear kind of an update on your injury. How are you feeling? What are they saying? Well, I got my ankle rolled up on really bad. I know most people thought it was my knee. It wasn't my knee. I got my ankle wrapped and rolled up under. So I'm dealing with an ankle sprain right now to some ligaments that was rolled up. But there's nothing severe, you know. Is it all black and blue, Brian? I really don't know how to answer that question. Because you don't want to say, he don't want to give it away. Because you get that. My son had the same injury and it's like, if you roll your ankle in a certain way, you can be out like six weeks minimum. Well, like it's a minimum. I mean, is it a high ankle sprain? Did anybody diagnose that? It's not high actually, so that's good. That's good. That's encouraging. That's a fracture too. But also, no, first hand, he mentioned the ligaments like, yeah, go ahead, Brian. Nothing going on with the bones and nothing, so yeah, so positive positive. Can you get back in the game after it? You did. Yeah. I did get back in the game. I don't know if it was, you know, adrenaline at the time. Yeah. That was obviously the before. Some swelling that started kicking in and it was just, you know, couldn't put no pressure on it. I can't put pressure on it, you know, she has to go, you know, be me. So, you know, I had to cut it. So, you know, it's been good, you know, as far as progression, you know, actually surprise and how, you know, how much it's progressed, so, you know, we just one day at a time with it, man. Right. So, Brian, when they x-ray you at the stadium, do you have to put on the heavy coat over your chest? Of course. No, it was a quick process. They just, um, covered up some areas and, um, right, it was real, it was real quick. I just had to ask. Yeah. They barely used that anymore. A lead. I don't want to. Extra lead. It used to be a lot bigger. It used to be a lot bigger. Yeah. Dude, did they say, let me ask you one last probing question. You don't have to answer. Okay. I get it. Did they say what grade it was? No, they didn't give it a exact grade, but I can kind of just gauge it myself. You know, I'll probably say, you know, grade two ish, um, shouldn't be like two crazy ones. So, I'm just swelling go out, you know, once the swelling go out and, you know, we was just kind of going to hit the ground right from there. Right. But, I mean, I'm guessing for this week is probably unlikely. I'm not sure. I really don't know. Right. It feels a lot better, um, you know, since it's happened. So I'm not sure. Good. Good. Good. Hey, B-Rob. The process, you know, take, take my process, you know, one day at a time and, you know, if it works, it works. Rank the pain of the injuries to your body this season hamstring knee ankle, which one hurt the worst? Uh, I know the ankle looked really ugly and it hit it. Obviously, like, I was able to come back in the game at the time, you know, it hurt it when it happened and, you know, the after pains, the soreness and stuff is what's slowing me down. It wasn't what actually happened, but, um, I will probably say the knee. All right, Brian, let's shift the conversation. Um, we'll talk about this game specifically, but I kind of want to talk more globally. You guys have lost three in a row. All right. Some tough ones. You lose to Dallas that you got. I know you don't care about lines, but you guys were a 10 and a half point favorite. What is the mood of the team? What is the confidence of this team right now moving forward? You know, like after, after games like this, obviously we, you know, we look at everybody in the eye and we, we know how much of a better team we are and how bad we played to put ourselves in certain situations to, you know, being a tight games like that and lose games like that. So, you know, uh, we know, you know, inside the building, inside the locker room, we know, you know, the potential of our team, you know, we know where we go wrong and make mistakes and where we could always just be on top of our game and we, and we don't always be on top of our game. So we just got to, you know, all be pros and put it all together and, you know, just let all our dancers make it happen, you know, like, like we were in the beginning when we was out to prove something, you know, we just got to get back to the basic fundamentals of what we did to win and we got to get on the same page and do it together all the time and stop, you know, getting comfortable with, like, oh, where we at in the season and the wreck, you know, the record and stuff like that. And we just, we got to go back to base one day one, you know, fundamentals and plan style. Talking to Brian Robinson, Jr. running back for the commanders. Um, so let's get specific about the running game. The last three weeks against two really good defenses in Pittsburgh and Philly, but then Dallas, who was 31st in the league, stopping the run, the running game outside of Jayden's runs hasn't been there. What's, what are you seeing? You're talking about fundamentals. What are you seeing that's not happening in terms of the running game? Uh, I think we definitely had to be stronger, you know, in a running game, uh, upfront for sure. We, we have to be more disciplined, you know, just to our details and in the running game, you know, just where everybody involved, uh, we got to get more in a running, run game rhythm. You know, it's so much, you know, that we, we, we leaving left out there in the running game and, um, you know, I think it comes down to just, um, just the basic, the basic things, you know, we got to run the ball, you know, we got to, we got to run it effectively. And we got to, you know, we got to keep it relevant, you know, and I feel like we just, you know, haven't really just been keeping our run game relevant in these recent weeks. B Rob, take us through the highs and lows of the end of that Dallas game with the elation of, you know, Terry McClure and hauling in the 86 yarder to score the touchdown. And then the obvious disappointment was cyber missing the extra point. Over to those last like 30 seconds of the game, like for you and your teammates. Can you say again, I mean, yeah, just take us through the end of the game where Terry hauls in the improbable touchdown pass from Jade and, and then the obvious disappointment of missing the extra point, uh, to not tie the game and send it to overtime. Yeah, this is so, we, we ain't never out of the game and we, we got so much potential on, on the offensive ball and just our whole team, we can, we can score in the moment, we can make a play in the moment is very unfortunate that we could, you know, get the time feel goal at the end and you know that, uh, that hurt us, you know, but this is goes to show like how much fight that we really have and the potential of our team is just go, you know, stretch that out in the last two, three minutes in the game and, you know, ourself actual shot and chance to win after just playing so bad, you know, for a whole four quarters, you know, so, you know, we know we just, we can't wait until our backs up against the wall like that to try to turn it all the way on. We got to, we got to, we got to do it from the beginning, but how has the staff been, it seems like to their credit, the staff's been pretty consistent all the way through at least the public image of it, I'm sure they get into you guys, you know, when they're pissed off or whatever, but it seems like pretty consistent, stick to the process, that sort of thing. Have you noticed that they've been like kind of even keeled through the ups and the downs? Yeah, it's, um, I know it's been a little rocky, you know, just the last couple of weeks, but I feel like we don't, we don't, we don't get it back on page on guys, guys are, you know, aware of, you know, what we need to do to get back on page and I feel like we, you know, it's, it's, it's serious to, it's important to our building and, um, I was there to see a major turnaround, you know, on the back, on the back stretch of this, you know, this season, you know, going into a playoff time. Let me just say this and I'm, I'm kind of kidding, but I'm being serious, but you know, take it for whatever it's worth. Okay. I know you guys only care about each other than what's going on in the building, right? But I just want you to know, I got your back 100%, I don't care what what our record is, I will always pick us against the Titans, always got no respect for the Titans. I know you do. I got no respect for the Titans. I'm not trying to get bulletin board material for them. I'm just saying I'm picking my boys against the Titans. You're wearing a lot of Titans colors over there, my friend. And then that's weird just coincidence, but Brian, a lot of people are giving up on the on you guys. A lot of guys in this room right over here over there, they're giving up on you guys. You know, it's crazy. That's fine because like we, we didn't really need like we didn't need nobody to believe in us from the beginning. Like nobody ever did. Right. So, you know, it's always been about, you know, like, we know we've been playing bad, you know, bad ball and you know, we know how to play good ball. You know, so it's all about doing it. Everybody's telling me how good the Titans defense is. I don't care. They're freaking Titans picking my boys this week, but I want you to know, I want you to be. I want you guys to have a chip on your shoulder. I know. I know for sure. Yeah, I think I'm sleeping well and like, you know, right now, so right. It's time. I'm giving a motivational speech. You understand? I'm getting fired up. I'm not even really sleeping well that night and that's more so because I don't feel like I've been able to just give my team all of me, you know, and I'm doing everything I can to get back to where I can give them everything, no, no questions, no, no if, right. But but. Hey, Rob, if you're not sleeping well at night to Benadryl, right before then, bang, you're getting my slow down. You don't want to give me, you don't want to be groggy for the night is that long last thing? He knows how to sleep. You guys are wimps. All right. It's not enough for the pizza bowlies question of the week pizza bowlies offering wings, subs and more pizza bowlies delivers more taste download the pizza bowlies app for easy ordering. Brian, you've dealt with knee hamstring now an ankle injury. It's been a trying season for you. How do you stay upbeat and positive through the injury issues this season? Um, just knowing, you know, that I can overcome and, you know, and I like to still come back and don't be myself and it's just not worried about, you know, losing a step, you know, just knowing that, you know, it's just a, it's just a step, just stepping up in the storm. It just happens, it happens, you know, it's not the worst thing that's, that's happened to me. But, you know, the worst thing I could do, you know, when I'm going through things, you know, like this is to be negative about it, you know, and it's just, it's, it's, it's like a cancer, you know, so, you know, I'm as positive as I can be, you know, you know, about everything that I've been going through and I know for sure when I overcome everything, it's just going to make me even more hungry, like I'm just be even more ready to just go out and just, you know, make up for everything that I missed out on, you know, and that's just what I'm ready to do. I really appreciate your sincere answers, Brian. I got to tell you that, um, by the way, how is, uh, Austin doing, if you had any contact because I mean, he, he really took a blow. Uh, I thought to Austin yesterday, um, he doing well, you know, obviously, you know, he's going through the protocol or we're not, um, I just told him, you know, he was used to up still moving around and trying to stand up and I was like, man, go, go sit down somewhere, man. Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, get off your feet, bro, go. Well, so I ain't, I ain't see him no more after, after I had that conversation with him in the training room, but, uh, yeah, he, he part of it, he good. Man, awesome tough man. He, he wanted to tough his, tough his dudes, I, I, I've ever met, you know, um, he's gonna take back for sure and, uh, I'm just, you know, I tried to, you know, just see him, you know, overcome, overcome that, you know, it's tough to see. What about the other Austin? Austin, your kicker. Yes. Um, is he okay? Yeah. That guy. He's bad. He's bad positive too. You know, um, you know, I'm not, I'm not going to allow anybody around me to, you know, have their head down. That's a bad experience, but, um, you know, we, we, we team, we, we, we're not, you know, giving them a side hour now like that, you know, we, you know, we win together. We lose together. You know, we, we had that talk, you know, so, um, you know, we moving on, you know, um, so he's positive, just doing his part to just, you know, move on from it as well. Hey, B-Rob, get that ankle better, have a great Thanksgiving and best of luck against the Titans. We'll talk to you again next week, my friend. Yeah. Thank you very much, man. Appreciate it. Thank you. Appreciate it all. Yeah. Of course. Yeah. Thank you, man. That's Brian Robinson Jr. presented by Main Street Bank, cheer local, bank local, put their team in your office, visit mstreetbank.com for more information. He's such a nice, thoughtful guy and he's giving us nice, thoughtful answers and we can't wait to work in our zings. You know what I mean? I mean, I wasn't even gonna, I, if he's having trouble sleeping, I understand it after three straight losses, but two better drill and I would personally wash him out with an alcoholic beverage. Yeah. What are you doing there? You're giving me motivational speeches. PQ over here. Yeah. Yeah. I just wanted to know. You showed me a game. He's PQ. I just wanted to know that send him a picture of your rings on Instagram because I don't think, I actually don't think a lot of the guys pay attention. Like don't care. Right. And I get it. But a lot of guys are picking freaking Tennessee against us. I don't. It's unheard of. It's unheard of. I don't have any. No one possibly would have picked Tennessee. His ankles the size of a. I know he's not going to play. I know he's not going to play. I know he's not going to play. I'm going to say size of a grapefruit. Listen, he's not playing. I get that. I'm just saying. I just want it to be public that the everyone is, they just, they give up on us. I think we're going to beat the Titans. They're probably favor. We're going to beat the Eagles. They have. I don't think everybody's picking the Titans. I feel like it is. Everyone's abandoned us. What's the wrong pick of the Titans? Five and a half point. They're five and a half point favorite. Commanders for you. Tell me everybody's picking but again, they were 10 and a half point favorites against the Cowboys. I just don't really read that much into that. Give me the people that are picking the Titans. Well, this guy right here, I have to. I have to. I have to. I don't even have to ask him. Valdez. I don't know. He says digger. I don't know. I need an over correction after last week. I need an over correction. So I think I will be picking the Titans. I just fit the sense. Everyone's off the bandwagon. They even contemplate picking the Titans is insulting. Hey, maybe Brian will pass your message along to make nickels. Yeah. It's kind of what I'm hoping. That's kind of what I'm hoping. Hey guys. Everyone's picking Tennessee, I say you show up to the park with your big hat and you bring your rings. I want to know. Tighten colors. Hey, we go. We go in the locker room with your rings and say, let me say something. You bought a gentleman on me for showing the rings to the girls. We made it to the Ivy League tournament for the first time in school history. We had the best record of four years. I'm guessing it's more about taking credit. I'm guessing it's more about the girls playing volleyball. The pupset spikes in your ring. It was my speech. My speech. The company BQ is inspiration. Yeah. When you tell, we tell. I had a little speech. Yeah. Will you tell be Rob? It takes a little extra to be extraordinary. Yeah. I'm set. Be robbed. I'm a motivator. Listen, the guy had Nick Saban for four years. Bickle pinks. He's going to give him a motivation to speech. I'm a motivator. That is funny. We could stand in Nick Saban's speech right now, by the way. We'll do EB's entertainment page next here on The Fan. Not all starts because sometimes the Cowboys were just kicking Washington's ass so bad that they put in the back up. In five career games against Washington, Cooper Rush has a four-in-one record, completing 66% of his passes for five touchdowns and zero interceptions. Good for a 117.1 passer rating. I kind of knew a lot of those numbers. You knew where they were headed. He had done success against us. And that's why when people were like, oh, Cooper Rush, I'm like, he beat us before. You know, Cooper, no, Cooper Rush's career TD to INT ratio, right? So he's got five touchdowns, no picks against Washington. In the rest of the against the rest of the league, he's got seven touchdowns and seven picks. Like it's one to one against everybody else. We're going to open these phone lines up. I like this tweet from Angry Rob. He said, I don't know how you and Brian can do it. Every time I start to talk about the game yesterday, a torrent of expletives rains fourth. We don't want to get, we don't want to get our fine. Fine fired. Any of them. I don't know. You're fine. I'll fire it. I kind of want to let Jeff go because Jeff was just in here talking about a plan of hiding in bemitches trunk and he just got some passion to work through and the phones are packed right now. So nobody's calling right now, Jeff, just because they're all full. So Jeffrey, why don't you start us off with with your blame pile? How do you do? I'm not good. JP. I cussed out half my family yesterday. I don't think I could go to the family is a cowboy saying because your dad's a Steelers fan. Yes. But on my mom's side, all, all her brothers except one are Cowboys fans. Yes, for my granddad, the Cowboys fan, I have cousins and I didn't make it to be such a die-hard burgundy and gold fan surrounded by mama, stealer, my mom and my uncle. It's crazy. Mama kept it real on my dad's side is a is a Redskins fan. Well, Washington fan and my mother was too. But I was so hurt because I was talking so much trash going in the Saturday game coming this Sunday. I'm telling my uncle I didn't even I didn't even see my uncle at the game yesterday. I was too embarrassed. I didn't. Um, but my blame pie goes to the entire team and they're a alumni. So I'm going to go 30% definitely the alum 30% offense, including their coordinator. Um, 30% defense, including their coordinator, 30% special teams, including their coordinator and alumna, uh, they get the 10% Robert Griffin, the third he thought it was cool to show up on Dallas week and a corduroy or suit with a black cowboy hat. What are you doing? Robert, read the room and then you take it off before you take the, the corduroy part off before the game to show you Jaden James, James Jersey. You didn't even wear a suit that will match the jersey when you took the shirt off, bro. You caused us that game to Robert. I'm mad at you and I'm going to tweet you after this too. That's my blame pie. Jeff, Jeff started talking trash by Robert right next to his wife yesterday. How'd that go? And then he was, he realized his wife, did he still talk to her? Yes. Yes. Yeah. Why are you waiting? I'm like, yo, what, why? And then the dude beside me like, yo, read the room, his wife next to you. And then when he says that she looks at me, I look at, I say, yo, I say, look, I'm 30. And when RG three was here, it was, it was coming out of high school for me. I'm like, dude, this was our guy. You know, like we, we, you, he was looked at as a Washington savior at one point and you show up in the cowboy dressed as cosplaying a cowboy. That's great use of cosplay. I also think like it did look like Cincinnati Bingham's colors. Can I, can I ask something? You were legend of the game. What? Did you go? No, I wasn't. I was just in the fight. Okay. You were the flag guy. Yeah. I thought legend of the game is the flag guy because Robert was, well, Robert did the flag. Yeah. When you did the flag, you went out there and you waved the hell out of that flag. Did you ever think, Oh man, I should bring some props and really make this a theatrical performance? No. And did you think about changing your clothes while you were doing it? No. We didn't need all that. Like, like this, that was, I've been watching the Vince McMahon documentary on Netflix. Like that was some WWE stuff that was unnecessary. It was Skins Cowboys. It's the biggest rival they got. You're a big deal. Robert just show up in regular clothes, wave to the crowd and wave the flag. My thing is. People can be fired up. If you wanted to be corny, breath, just put on your old uniform and run out there. Like, I would have rather you be there and go do that next year when he, when he revealed when he like took all his layers off to reveal the Jersey, I kind of thought it was going to be his. Oh, if it would have been a lot. I also like, if you're Jaden, I'm sure you appreciate Robert, the player and the person, but like, I don't think Jaden side is trying to have this really close bond with Robert. You know what I mean? I don't know. But like, did you see, um, chicks had this in the press box yesterday, Sean Merriman. He responded to the picture of Robert wearing the Jaden jersey and Merriman accomplished a lot in the NFL and Merriman said something to the effect of, you know, I love watching Nick Bose play and Khalil Max, my favorite football player ever. But damn, if you ever see me wear their jersey, it's, I don't know that I've ever seen you in another Jersey. No, I don't know. I'm glad we figured that out. Hi, Jeffrey. Disappointing. Yeah. All right. Let's get to these four. Let's starts with Jamal is in DC. What up, Jay? Who are you mad at? What's going on? What up brother? My man at the top team, man. But if we, if we're going to break it down, I'm going to go 30% special teams, man. Like that, that was a horrible performance. I know they got the block and everything, but I agree with you, JP, like kicking the ball to turn under any circumstances with his track record. To me, it's just, I don't think that's the best idea. I, I, so I disagree with the coaching and his plan on that. That was just stupid, but I'm also going to go 30% with the offense with Cliff, man. I don't know what's going on, but I've had this irritation with Fuzzy y'all that we just for whatever reason don't get the ball to Terry and nothing like I feel like a broken record that especially watching how they deal with CD light, even come out and tell us Terry isn't one of those players or find a way to use him like other people do because I'm tired of that, bro. Like seriously, yeah. He's a dog. I don't care if you got to put him at full back. Yeah. Like whatever you got to do, check out the way and put the damn ball to Terry has morning you do. That has to be a drug board for I'm a gold 50% with the defense. I felt like they played, you know, a decent game, but they, they, they, you know, to me, play, you just got to make more plays, man. Like they ran the ball on the song damn day. And I felt like they didn't make enough plays to prevent us from losing the game. And then the rest, I'm going with Jay, like, again, young guy, I know that. And to me, with Jay, I felt like it started before the game because he had an interview prior to the game where they asked them about the game. And he was like, Oh, well, you know, it's just another game. And I get here rookie and all that. So I'm not going to hop in them too hard, but dog game, this, this ain't another game, right? Like hell no, it's not like it's this never just another game, bro. And then hopefully when he doesn't interview this week, I would like for him to say that I get it now. I'm sorry. He's coming into I ain't get it, but moving forward, I understand this game anymore. I can't just come out here and look at this is another game. I like this, like Jeff said, we can talk to big trades, bro. And now we got to eat this for all we listen to these families, but they started to have me because we also, but that's what I'm going with my playing time. Thanks for taking my call. Thanks for all. Appreciate you. Listen, both lives are going to be open all the way to 1230. So keep it going. 2636, 1067 people are mad B. I think people are deservedly mad. Got this one via Twitter. Nelson Jordan says, blame pie, Kingsbury, 30% Daniels, 20% 20% O line D line, 10% to DQ, 10% all the wide outs except MacLaurin and 10% to cyber. I want to blame Cliff a lot, but Jaden needs to play within the game. Take the short throws and move the chains. Wouldn't that a lot of what they were doing? Yeah. I thought Jaden's misses yesterday to me were deep. Yeah. The two deep shots they took early in the game, one to Terry, one to Brown. I think Brown wasn't open, but it wasn't a great throw. Terry was maybe had a half a step, but the throw was kind of out of bounds. Brown had a chance to catch this ball. Yeah, I thought Jaden played a lot better in the second half. Jaden was held was a super accurate early, but I don't think he has to throw every ball right into a damn person's chest for them to catch it. These two are receivers in the NFL. They got to catch some balls, maybe outside of their body frame a little bit too. I agree with you. I thought, I know Terry catches a lot of balls that you look at. You think he won't, but he will. So I'm not going to say that, oh, he got to throw him so perfect for the guys to just catch him. For me, I thought Jaden in the first half was a little late at times. I thought there were spots where he has shown an elite ability to throw with anticipation. And in the first half, we didn't see that second half we did. I thought part of me wonders if James wasn't just like, damn, I really got to figure something out to get this team back going. And then they score that touchdown early in the third quarter and just allows him to build some confidence. He was, you can call it prevent D, whatever you want. The drive where they scored on the Zach Earth's touchdown, he was seven for seven on that drive. He was fantastic. A question for you, B and my boy Parker texted me this last night. You know my buddy Parker early on in the year, kind of throughout the game, they were playing with tempo. Yeah. And it wasn't always like a no huddle, but it was up tempo. Yes. And they have gotten away from that. I'm curious. I think why it works for them. I don't know why they got away from, but I know it works because anytime they get an up tempo, they go straight down the field. How much of their inability to stay on the field to get some third down conversions plays into that? I mean, if you look yesterday, there were four, 12 on third down, somehow they lost to a team that was two of 11 on third down, but they were four of 12 on third down. They're not stringing together long drives. If that's the case, are you then hesitant to go to the turbo package? I, I don't necessarily know if one affects the other because when they are going through and out, they're not in tempo. If they were in tempo and going through and out, then I would say, I understand why they didn't stick with it. But the fact that they're, they're not in tempo and not, uh, you know, keep it a drive going. That, that, that's more trouble than anything. I always felt when you go in tempo, you know what you do? You stop them from substituting. You have an advantage over them. You dictate the data. And mainly just maybe they may be our, our plan every once in a while. Just do it. Figure it out. Yeah. It's pretty darn interesting. Uh, let's go to these phones. I got bones is in DC. What up bones? Hey, what's that? Great thing. I'm going to get 30% and I'm going to get 50% all of them, while I'm going to get 30% and I'm going to get 30% and I'm going to get 50% all of them. Why not? That was dropping them pants yesterday. Now, you know what I'm saying? We won some games. We got five more to go. You know what I'm saying? I hope we need these coaches together and to be players, men, friends in the play the next game. I appreciate y'all. I love y'all man. Thank you for taking my call. Hi, bones. Thank you, bones. Appreciate you. So be, I just put up the snap counts from yesterday. John Bates is a hell of a player. He's a really nasty blocker. John Bates is going to play in the NFL for 10 years. He is a valuable player, not really a dynamic offensive threat. And it's easy. We've talked about this. Like people want to just be like, Oh, send it needs to take Urch's snaps. Urch caught a touchdown yesterday. He is really sure handed, even though the drops have been a problem across the board. He runs really clean routes. March yesterday, 76% of the snaps at the tight end position, John Bates, 41% of the snaps at the tight end position, Ben Senate is at 30% of the snaps. I do think I said all year that I would expect Senate and McCaffrey's offensive production to start increasing after Halloween, right? Well, now we're at Thanksgiving and I wonder if those snap counts start to increase here. Yeah, this is a relatively rudimentary breakdown. Like I don't have these were, I don't have down at distance attached to this stuff, which matters, especially with Bates, but Senate, perhaps this is anecdotal. I don't think he can't not block that. I mean, the block he had on the Daniels option run touchdown was vicious. Yeah. So he blocked. But, but the thing about it for a fan or either a mute me, a media guy to say, oh, he should get snaps. We don't know what they're doing in practice. We probably don't know why they're not getting the snaps. Sometimes young guys learn and they get it. Sometimes they take them a little longer. So maybe just maybe they're not getting it done enough to be able to get those snaps. Yeah, it's interesting. So the phone lines are going to remain open. Everybody's there. Stay there. That phone's for at least the next hour. See and shop them all at Tedbert.com. So Jay, why don't we just start with yesterday specifically when you went back and watched the game? Was it about what you expected better or worse on film? What do you think? Well, obviously the last few minutes was pretty chaotic on both sides of the ball. But the first three quarters, I think, you know, it just is a matter of taking advantage of great opportunities in Washington didn't do it with great field position opportunities to really jump out on them early and put your foot down and show who's a better team. Just let Dallas hang around and hang around and unfortunately some big plays at the end. Dallas got the win. What did you see from this offense? It's the last five minutes they managed about 200 yards and, you know, 20 points or whatever the heck it was, Jay. But for 55 minutes, not much doing for this offense. What have you seen from it here this week and really over the last month or so as it's kind of not performed like we saw early in the season? Yeah, a couple of things. Third down is bad. You know, they're 12 for 38 in our last three games, 10 sacks, you know, a time of possession is their average in 24 minutes per game in the last three games. A lot of that has to do is the ability to keep the ball and they're not staying on a field on third down. They're really good early in the year and right now they're struggling and there's a lot of reasons for it. Sometimes pressure related. Sometimes Jake, this is a throw. Sometimes there's no throw to be at sometimes, you know, you know, we're working no around twice on third down in the game and Terry and McCormick stand on the other side without getting an opportunity. So there's a lot of things they can clean up. But the most important thing is they got to do a better job on third down. Yeah, there's a lot of different ways we can go. And we were just talking about Daniels at the end of last hour and I certainly wouldn't say he is the main problem or even one of the main problems. But yesterday there were way too many times when I went back and looked and even Dan Orlowski just put together a little reel on ESPN where they're going to say Noah Brown or he just kind of locks in on a throw and and the guy's not open and it's an incompletion when Terry comes free on the other side or, you know, Zach Hertz is running free and it just seems like he's kind of deciding where he's going to go. When that's happening, what does that normally tell you and how much of that is like a confidence thing as he's been struggling lately? Like what is your thought on that? Yeah, you know, the couple of times he went to know one was on a flat on the outside. It's kind of really was his only option on that one. It was really good play by the defensive back. No, it didn't get much separation. Another one was on a deep curl. I think he should have come off of it. But, you know, some of us pressure relate. A lot of times it's hard to get off your number one target when you feel pressure inside of it. You've got to get rid of the ball. I think he feels like, I don't know. It's just hard to point your finger at one thing. Sometimes it's pressure. Sometimes it's, he feels like the guy's open and he's got the back makes a good play and sometimes there's nobody open. I don't know. But it's easy to hold the film on pause and then when the ball is gone, let it play again and see somebody come wide open, see you should have held the ball and throw it to this guy. That's not always the case when you have the ball in your hand in your playing quarterback. But there are times I agree with Oslowski that he could have maybe held the ball a little bit longer. But that's easier said than done for a young quarterback. Learn them. J grid with the serum G and D. What have you seen from this offensive line felt like early part of the season, maybe even up to halfway through they were mauling people and Jay Daniels was upright. I know that numbers don't really say that it's been bad, but it doesn't feel like maybe the holes are there on the run game as much. Jay, and it feels like, you know, they're, I don't want to say they're confused, but they're getting overwhelmed a little bit in the past game. Just the eye test. What have you seen from that group? Yeah. Same thing. The last three games, the only average 100 yards rushing per game and last week, last night or yesterday, I have like 140 and Jaden had like 60 of it. So I don't think they're getting as much push as they did earlier in the year. They're not doing a lot of the same stuff they did early as well. Some of the pin pull things and quite frankly, you know, they're just not getting the push. I think they're worn down a little bit. This has been a tough stretch for these guys. They've played a lot of games in a row and they need that bi-week badly here. It's coming up after this Tennessee game. They just got to buckle up one more week and get this big win against Tennessee. They may get a buy. We get their legs back and then hopefully we'll see some more movement later in the year. I mean, shouldn't the mini buy like that was the most rest they've had since the beginning of the season against a team in Dallas traveling on a short week after plan Monday night with a hundred million dollars and salary cap on the IR. I feel like that should have given them a little bit of recharge of the batteries. It certainly worked for Daniels who look more explosives as a runner. Like why didn't that trickle down do you think? I don't know. For one, if there's going to be a team to be able to run the ball and force your will and be against the Cowboys because they have to stop the run all year and I was surprised by that. I can't. I don't understand it personally, but you know, I just know they don't look the same with the same pop they have coming off the line of scrimmage as they did earlier in the year. And they're playing good teams. They're playing the Giants twice and they're moving the Giants without a really good defense of the line and other teams as well. So I don't know what the hell is going on. We Dallas did a lot of movement, a lot of things that they weren't ready for athletically. But I can't put my finger on that one. Yeah, let's get to the run game that you mentioned. If you go up against a really good defense, you may not be able to run for 200 yards like it's Nebraska in the mid 90s. But this Dallas team has basically just roll over and died in terms of run defense. Everyone's had their way with them regardless of whether they want to stack the box and prioritize it. Teams have just beaten them up. Didn't happen at all yesterday. It felt like it. You know, roughly half of the team's rushing yards over 70 running backs just weren't able to kind of get going there. What did you see from, you know, just blocking scheme, old line, everything with the run game? Yeah, the ski was fine. They just, you know, sometimes when you do these double teams up to the linebacker, sometimes you leap too early and you leave the defensive lineman with a good angle on the remaining offensive lineman. He gets to tackle. Sometimes you stay on too late in the night, the linebacker knife do there. There's an art to these double teams up to the linebackers and overshawns a good linebacker. He does a good job playing off the double team and being really skinny and parses is pretty athletic on the backside, tracking things down. So there's a lot of different issues when it comes to running game tight ends are involved in it. Sometimes the back misses a hole. Sometimes Jay Nightbud, Jay could have pulled a couple of them as well, so they just got to get back on track, get their confidence going. But I'd like to see him start to, I think the way Jay didn't finish that game against Dallas, his ability to move the ball down the field, throwing the ball, I like it to be a little bit more aggressive throwing the ball early in the game against Tennessee because he really showed, he really did a nice job there. He had shown the accuracy in poise that we all know and love about them. So hopefully they become a little bit more aggressive, maybe use the pass set up the run next week. Jay Gruden with us on Grant and Danny here on the fan looking back at yesterday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys. What did you make of the decision at the end to kick the extra point? They'd already missed one. They'd missed a field goal tie the game, go to overtime versus a two-point conversion. I don't know. What'd you think of it? Well, I think at home against an inferior opponent, I'd probably send the game to overtime generally. I'm a big proponent of, I would go for two on the road against bad team or like a team that I'm better than, or excuse me, the team that I'm worse than all the time. But at home, this was kind of the opposite. The only thing I would say is that side of the field yesterday, there were at least four kicks missed total. I mean, so I don't know, it was just one of those strange games where it felt like their defense is fatigued. I got a cheat code, short yardage quarterback who had a two-point conversion untouched earlier in that same end zone. Maybe I'll just end this thing now. Yeah. I mean, there's merit to that. I think he, I don't think he's wrong either way to be honest with you. If he goes for two and doesn't get it, people will be on him a little bit, but you appreciate the aggression. If he kicks, it goes into overtime. I feel like the team could win it in overtime. It's just one out of a hundred that the kicker is going to miss an extra point. You know, that's just crazy. Unfortunately, you missed it, but I don't think he would be wrong either way personally. Jay, what do you say, Danny? What do you say, Danny? Are you going for two? I am very rarely a go for two guy. I just think everybody takes it for granted like they're going to make it and nobody deals with the repercussions. You don't like the nerves of like it all comes down to this one point. Yeah. Especially if I think I'm better than the team, I'd much rather play more football than less of it. But I see the point about on the road, you know, I'd rather take one shot against a really good opponent, et cetera. So I never kill guys for not going for two. Yeah, me neither. So let me go into this in terms of sort of coach player relationship right now because things are going great for the first squad that started seven and two where everything's coming up you, you're walking the yellow brick road. There's some adversity now. How would you handle things this week with Jayden Daniels, this offense and everything else in terms of necessarily pep talks, these are grown men. But like what would you try to do to build back up? I think you had to be ultra positive and let these guys understand that we're seven and five and we're in the playoff picture right now. The season end of the day, we're in the playoffs and that's a hell of a goal. Before the season started, nobody gave this team a chance and we, you know, we did a great job early in years shocked everybody, but now we're struggling a little bit, but we got to get back on track against the Tennessee team is three and eight. They got a big win yesterday. They have some good players. I understand, but get to eight and five, get to the buy, we'll work regroup, figure some things out and then make a late season run against the St. Eagle's Falcons and Cowboys. I mean, there's, this can be done this even season as far from over. There's a lot left on our plate here. You have to be positive and make sure we're all, all in coming Tuesday to work or Wednesday, whatever they start. Jay, I don't know how much you've heard or read about or seen this Cliff Kingsbury regression of a storyline, but this goes back to Arizona where EPA per play and, you know, pretty much every metric you look at, right, success, efficiency, yards, points, second half of all of his seasons, very different offensively than the first half. And sometimes it gets chocked up to, well, Kyler got hurt or he was playing through pain or whatever, but it's, it's pretty much every single year he's been calling plays in the league. This has happened and we're seeing it here. Do you think there's any merit to that or is it kind of coincidental sample size thing? And if there is merit to it, what about his system, do you think leads to it being solved in him now having to figure out a counter punch? Yeah, I don't know what happened in Arizona. I don't really recall that late season collapse. I know they didn't play very well when he got fired at all, but there's a lot of things that can be reasons for injuries. You're looking at other teams that have injuries that keep players, people get worn down from an offensive coordinator standpoint. You do have to adapt to different teams you play at to throw some curve balls at the defense. If you can't just run your same plays at the same formations, I think he does a good job in the running game. I think some of his passing games, if I had any recommendations for him at all, it would be move Terry around a little bit. You can't always put him on the left. Use the word Buckeye, Noah Brown on Terry's switch side. It's not that hard. You know what I mean? Line him up on the right side, put him to the field sometimes, not to the boundary when you're always on the left hash, you know, like the slant of Noah Brown, let Terry run that slant route. I'll just say the word Buckeye, let Terry be the outside guy. Those are just a few things that I would do different, but I think they have, you know, they have talent. They're just not over blessed with talent. You know, other than Terry and obviously the running game now, the B-Rob search, Jayden's a talented guy. Zach hurts. It's not a separating type of tight end. He's a zone type of tight end. Noah Brown is a long strider down with a lot of speed. He's a big physical guy. You love his effort, but he's not a guy that's going to get a lot of separation. And then their third receiver, who is Luke McCaffrey, he's not exactly a guy. He's going to separate and he's not a Cooper Cup or a guy in the slot that he can really count on on third down and five. So in fairness to Cliff, where do you go on third down? If Terry's getting covered, you know, that's the issue that he has. So he's got to come up some creative ways to get these balls outside, some past concepts not to work his own and let guys have some access. And man, it's easier said than done. So Jay, how did you think about how, let me, this is sort of like double edge here, bear with me. As a coordinator, as a guy, as a play caller, coach, et cetera, how did you think about how opponents were going to look at what you were doing? You know what I mean? Almost like always count anticipating their counter punch with something else, right? Because obviously your base offense, it's, it's who you are, it's your identity. It's how you call plays. But then as you kind of move through a season, knowing that they've got tape on you, how did you sort of think about evolving and maybe countering their counters? Yeah. Sometimes as the season goes on, it gets harder and harder because there's so much tape to look at. You know, they, you look at the blitz reel, you're like, Oh my God, this is the three hour blitz tape. Oh, you're looking at the different fronts. It's a nightmare. And you're never sure how they're going to attack you. You think about your best players, what they're going to try to do to your best players. Obviously, Terry, and how they're going to keep jade in the pocket. What's their base coverage system? What do they like to do in key situations, third down, third, two to five, third, six to eight. Try to break it down that way. But still you're, there's never an exact science. That's why, to me, it's very important to get in formations that will give you some pre snap reads, put the tight end outside by himself. The safety goes out there. You know, it's man, put the back out there, back arms after you know it's man. If that, you know it's zone, then you know what side of the field to work based on the cover three or cover two. So you try to give your quarterback pre snap hints to alleviate some of the confusion. I wish they do a little bit more of that. And then you can work your match ups and man and he can work your coverage beaters and zone. No Austin Echler potentially in the short term here. Unfortunately, he suffered what looked like a pretty serious concussion at the end of the game. Easy guy I really like is a matchup problem too on some of those like choice routes out of the backfield or some of the Texas stuff you could do where you get him running those arrow routes in the middle of the field and leaving linebackers. I mean, without that, it's another easy button that's kind of gone. Not that they were utilizing that all that much the last couple of weeks anyway. But I mean, is there a way to replace that? Cause my concern is I'm trying to figure out a way and I don't know how to do it, but you do. But you got to get this guy easier answers and the quick game stuff that was layups for him early in the year is gone. And how do I get back to that? Yeah, they're relied on the screen, the perimeter screens, which a lot of teams do. Caleb Williams had a lot of success yet the last couple of weeks phone perimeter screen the DJ more for big yards and and Cliffs on a good job at that. But those haven't been working quite as well as they did earlier in the season. Some of them are off the run run alerts if the low loaded box, the box is low. These go out of bubble screen to whoever it is. You get some positive yards there, but there are other ways to get some quick games and all that stuff. But I agree, losing Austin Echler hurts. That's another weapon out of the backfield that can really work match up against linebacker. Teams are starting to play tight man to man with somebody over the top of Terry or Terry's having trouble getting access. You got to find somebody else and usually the back has great match ups against linebackers nowadays. The linebackers can't cover tight and against strong safety. Strong safety can't cover very good. But that's not a great matchup as it hurts right now man to man. So, you know, I don't know where else they're going to turn Terry's going to have to have a hell of a game. Otherwise, who are you going to work to as a running back now? They cut Chris Rodriguez. So what do they have one back on the roster right now? I guess they'll come back, but yeah, that's where they're at. Yeah, he's not much of a pass catcher. Maybe they go out and get somebody. But yeah, that's a part of the game that a lot of people don't utilize. That's why I made it a point to have a guy like Chris Thompson on my team every week because those are huge match ups and they're easy completions for the quarterback. Is there a guy that you like that they don't use that you would say, hey, that guy needs the ball more. I got a name in mind, but I'm curious what you have. I don't know. I'm good enough. Really, you know, McCaffrey is an interesting guy, but he's working. Yeah. He, you know, he looks like he's got a little moxie to him, some separation skills, not a very fast guy. I don't think he can really get up on people and threaten them by the speed, but it looks like in zone coverage, he could be a guy who can rough them off some things of that nature. I'd like to see him do a little bit more of that, especially on third down a set of working outside curl routes and slants all the time. So I'd like to work the middle to feel a little bit more maybe with a guy like Luke or somebody. Let's go around the NFL for just a couple of minutes before we let you go. I do like the way the Bears offense is trending. They lost an overtime to the Vikings yesterday, but Caleb Williams threw for 340 couple of touchdowns, didn't turn the ball over. And with Thomas Brown, I'm not sure how well you know him, but I know you did a little work with the Rams when he was on that staff there. He seems to have at least gotten Caleb Williams more comfortable in that passing game. Yeah, for sure. You know, the last two weeks they played very well and I don't know if it was all in the coordinator. Maybe they're getting more conscious. Caleb's just throwing the ball the right guys and getting the ball out of his hands. I don't think he changed a whole lot, but he has given Caleb some easier throws on first and second down. And then Caleb is creating with his legs and all scheduled like we knew he could and he's not making a mistake. Hold on the ball and taking 10 facts. I mean, that's huge. I mean, quarterbacks learn. I mean, hell, you know, college, he could do that, bros. He's learning that. Hey, I can do it occasionally. I can't do it on every place doing a much better job. I don't know if it's offensive coordinator, just Caleb figuring it out. This bone Nick, Sean Payton pairing seems to be paying some dividends. It just looks like they're a perfect match. Yeah, they're doing good. I mean, Sean calls a good game and and bo doesn't make a lot of mistakes. You know, you know, he doesn't force the ball in the coverage. He's not going to make a lot of down the field shot throws like a Caleb Williams that are splash plays like Holy cow, but he's going to protect the ball. He's a very good athlete. He can escape pressure and he makes good decisions and it's a punt. They punt. They're playing very good defense. They're playing great complimentary football right now. Denver will be interesting to see how they finish out. J's sake one Barkley yesterday ran for 255 against the Rams and 302 all purpose yards. If he counted his receiving yards, he's on pace to break the all time rushing record of Eric Dickerson. What do you make of him as an MVP candidate? Because it seems like there's an unwritten rule that if you're a running back, you can't win it now. Yeah, I know he's definitely in the talks. I still figure goes through Josh Allen. If he continues to play like he's playing with the guys that he lost, he's carrying the Buffalo Bills, man. He's unbelievable. I mean, quarterbacks, a very difficult position to play. Those running back, I get it, but I'd give it to Josh right now. They call on to them on bar three just because they've lost four games. We'll see how Lamar does tonight, but they call on is definitely up in the running. I'd say they're 50-50 right now. What do you make of Houston? I know. Listen, Tennessee, they can serve credit for playing the way they did, but they didn't look right. Houston didn't even when they were six and two. It just didn't feel like the same good operation. CJ Stroud hasn't been as good as maybe folks anticipated this year. What do you see when you watch them? I'll send the line issues big time. I believe he's not getting much time there. They get no holes for Joe Mixon. Joe Mixon has run over four guys that gets three yards. I mean, he's an unbelievable back, and he's had a couple of really good games. He's done it all on his own. All types of lines have got to get their act together. I mean, they're not protecting very well, and then CJ is forced and throws down a field, very uncharacteristic of them, and they turn on the ball over, took the safety, two interceptions, I think, yesterday. So they've got to do a better job of trying to get the line in sync and blocking better for their back, so they don't have to put all the pressure on CJ. We've got to remember he's only in a second year for God's sake, so let's get the running game going and help him out. Giants are dreadful. They're two and nine after getting beat, 30 to seven yesterday by the Bucks. Tommy DeVito in for Daniel Jones. If you were a head coach and you needed a quarterback, what would be your level of interest in Daniel Jones as a reclamation project? Like light, medium, or strong? Well, you get them for 300 grand, I think, this year, and then you get it. Is it just me or has TV gotten really complicated? So, we've talked a lot about Cliff Kingsbury's Start Fast Fade Late Narrative and been talking about it for a while, but Bill Barnwell, who digs deep and does really good work, wrote about it yesterday and he joins us right now, courtesy of our bet QL guest hotline, Bet Smarter, Beat the Books, download the bet QL app today or visit betql.com. So, I wanted to actually start with, you know, you wrote a lot about the game on Sunday. ESPN's Bill Barnwell did, who joins us right now, and you wrote something that I wanted to make sure that I understood clearly. You wrote that since 2000, 94 teams have started drives inside their 20-yard line with 40 seconds or less left to go out of timeouts and needing a touchdown to potentially tie or win the game. The commanders are the first of those teams to score a touchdown in that situation. That shocked me. I would have thought that it would have happened more than zero times before Sunday, but what I wanted clarification on was were you referring to winning it without a Hail Mary or just, you know, scoring a touchdown any way. Period, scoring a touchdown or scoring with a Hail Mary. I know last year, it was a little longer of a period of time. I know that the commander's Broncos game, the Broncos hit that Hail Mary from midfield, and that was similar-ish, but it was not a, there was a little bit more time on the clock, but yes, this was the only one Hail Mary, non-Hail Mary scoring in that situation. Oh, wow, I actually forgot about that. Russell Wilson threw that pass, and then they missed on a two-point conversion, in which I think Washington got away with a major defensive pass interference on the two-point conversion. Yeah, go ahead. Yeah, I mean, you'll take it, right? Obviously, you know, a similar situation where you get the crazy play to tie up the game, and then obviously different things needed a two-pointer. I think it was, they were down by two, if I'm not mistaken last year, this was a situation where the commander's obviously, could have hit the extra point, could have got for two to try and win, but, you know, since the situation- Well, no, Denver was down eight, they were down eight, and what you're saying is that it was close to the scenario of Sunday, but it wasn't. They were down two, so they had to go for the two-point conversion to try to tie up. Exactly. Yeah. Yes. So the commander's obviously had a choice, but since the situation where you get the big play and then you don't get the- Oh, you're talking about something. He's my fault. Yeah. Got it. I just- I was shocked to hear that. I just would have thought that it would have happened, you know, multiple times, let alone, you know, not zero. Yeah. Yeah. What's the price, too, but I went through in a double check, triple-check it, and it's hard. I mean, think about it. It's 40 seconds. No timeouts. You have to go to the length of the field. I mean, 80-plus yards. And, you know, when you think about, okay, how would it happen? You think, okay, maybe you get one big play, and then you get a couple of, you know, smaller chunks here and there. I don't think you're going to get it in one fell swoop, but not only did they get it in one fell swoop, but it was almost easy. It almost felt like it was, you know, like carrying a chlorine barely, but he didn't even touch on the wing. He didn't get touched. He didn't get touched. That was so remarkable to me. Yeah. He didn't get touched, Bill, and I went back and watched it a little bit more yesterday. There's no doubt that at least one defender for the Cowboys is essentially playing to protect the sideline to not let him go out of bounds, and Terry had no interest in going out of bounds. He just decided to outrun everybody. By the way, before we get to the Cliff Kingsbury stuff, it sounds like you kind of felt the same way I did, which is there was no easy answer on whether or not to go for two in that spot that, you know, kicking was probably, you know, it's probably, I don't even know what the analytics said personally. The context of it for me was kind of 50-50. I leaned a little bit going for it in the moment, but I totally understood why you didn't. I was like, you felt the same way. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I don't think you can make a sort of, you know, an airtight case that you needed to go for it, or you needed to keep the extra point because there's so many soft factors that are hard to analyze here, right? I mean, you have them on one side going for two, you have the shell shock effect, right? I mean, the Cowboys just came up in 80 plus yard touchdown. The stadium is going crazy. Their defenders are just straight up tired from chasing Terry McCorran. I mean, I can understand the chaos that situation wanted to take advantage of that, you know, from that side. But then you flip it, we don't know how good Austin Sebert really is after the hit injury. He missed two, you know, the two kicks earlier in the game, you know, I think when you think about trying to build like a model to analyze this stuff, you say, okay, these are what the average is. This is what we would expect from history, but this was such a unique case with so many different factors that are hard to account for that I don't think you can really blame them for one or the other. I lean more towards going for two as you do just because it's really the strength of the football team is shaving Daniel's short yardage, you know, they had a two point play earlier. So you've heard already, you know, what your maybe your best two point play, but there's nothing to play both that I feel confident I would have leaned towards that being the strength of the team. And I mean, here's the question that I think we always talk about when it comes to the stuff. If you're the Dallas Cowboys, what do you want the commanders to do? Are you scared if they kick an extra point and they're going to play for overtime? Or are you more scared if they're going to go for two, if you're more scared if they're going to go for two, then you should probably go for two. Yeah, and I think, you know, the shell shock thing, which I talked about, you could actually make the case that that's also one of the reasons to kick is that they're, you know, basically, they're feeling what's happened to them all year is happening again, which is they're going to lose. Yeah. Great. Yeah, so I mean, you have Cooper Rush on the sideline too. So, you know, again, I just, I don't want to trash Dan Quinn for that decision. I don't, I think there's some where it's more obvious. I don't think this is one of them. I actually think the one that was much more cut and dried, but we kind of got the answers to why they didn't do it. And that is that cyber probably couldn't do it. But kicking to Turpin was a terrible idea. You know, you, that was, that was a kick it, you know, out of the end zone situation. But it sounds like cyber perhaps wasn't capable of doing it on Sunday, which would have, you know, certainly brought up the conversation. Well, maybe you should have had a kicker that could, given how great Turpin is as a returner. Yeah. And coaches are pretty lax about kickers. I think when you have a guy you like and cyber was so good earlier in the season, it's almost like you want to rush back to him. You know, I, I, of course, uh, spent a lot of time covering the Giants and sending half with Graham Gino where they, they had Graham Gino was injured during the week. They didn't, um, they didn't want to call up a kicker. They wanted to kind of trust him to go through it. He gets hurt early in that game and then, you know, losing the game because of it. So, um, you know, it's such a, it's such a tough position to gauge, but teams put so little effort into sort of understanding so much, you know, that there's so much interest in like the name brand. Like once you have a guy you like, you want to do whatever you can to get him out there. You're going to trust him. And clearly they develop trust and see, but I mean, it'll blame him. He clearly doesn't answer percent, but, um, you know, it's hard to imagine that they wouldn't have been better off without a healthier kick or even if he wasn't a secret scalliver for that game on Sunday. Talking to Bill Barnwell at Bill Barnwell on X ESPN's Bill Barnwell. All right. Let's get to the reason that I reached out to you yesterday because like I mentioned to you, we've been talking a lot about the Cliff Kingsbury thing, you know, starts fast, fades late and the teams that he's been the head coach of, but we've been talking, Denton and I have going back to even before the season started that there's a lot of variables involved and a lot of variants in season to season as to why the team's records faded late. You went and you did the homework per usual bill because this is, you do this so well. So tell everybody what you learned about the, you know, the narrative of Cliff Kingsbury's offenses. Okay. Start fast. Fade late. Yeah. Okay. So let's flip this up a little bit. Let's start with the college side of things because I've seen a lot of evidence people saying, hey, it's not just a cardinal thing. It's also go back to Texas tech and he's had problems there. Well, yes, the offense has declined from the first half of the season to the second half of the season, the records declined. But if you pay attention to college football, you can probably think about why that might be the case. It's scheduling. First half of the year, Texas tech was playing, you know, all these small schools in Texas, the San Houston, the UTEPs, you know, schools, they were dropping 60 on and they weren't playing their big 12 schedule. And when you got the second half of the year, they were playing all the big 12 teams. So understandably, their record got worse and they were scoring fewer points when I take that out and take out the, you know, the independent teams, the D2 teams, all that stuff. There is an effect, they were worse than the second half, but it was mostly the defense. The offense declined by about two points per game, defense declined by 10 points per game, which makes sense. You're playing tougher competition and that was never a school that was investing a lot on the defensive side of the football. They were playing at a crazy pace, probably more defensive injuries. All reasons to think, okay, there might be factors here, but it's not like teams are figuring out, flip Kingsbury's scheme in the second half of his season to Texas tech. And then you go to Arizona, go to the Cardinals, okay, first year, record did decline in the second half. But the offense got better. There's scored more points for a game. That's kind of a tough argument. Next couple of years, one year, you have Kyler Murray, Terry's ACL. So Kyler Murray misses basically the entire second half of the season. Think he played one full game, second half of the year, another year, the entire Hopkins their star receiver plays the entire first half of the season. They get that Hail Mary to beat the Bills, Kyler Reals, MPP favorite. Yeah, yeah, the other Hopkins plays two games the rest of the way, I believe, or one and a half games the rest of the way. He's not healthy. You're best player, maybe, on offense or defense, the second half of the season there. So could you say, "Clip Kingsbury's maybe putting his players at risk?" I don't think I'm qualified to say, but what I can say is, do I think there's something about Clip Kingsbury's scheme, you know, the offense he's running that people are figuring out? I don't think so. And the other thing I would say, Kevin, this is also, it comes in the play here when it comes to the evaluation process. Okay, let's say Clip Kingsbury was running a very simple scheme that teams were able to figure out. It was really easy. The first half of the year, he was great. Okay, teams are going to have second half of the year, he struggles. Okay, why would they be good the first half of the fall of the year? It's not like the tape is. It's not like, you know, it's not like you suddenly are like, "Oh, you're in a men in black situation. You don't like your memory." Like all the stuff you learn from the first half of the tape, you would still have. So I don't think Clip is, you know, bringing in a brand new offense, the first half each year. You're making changes, of course, during the offseason. Your eggs and wrinkles here and there, but it's just tough for me to find a through line that makes sense here in terms of Clip Kingsbury scheme. It's other factors here, I think that explain why there's been a second half decline. Yeah, that's really well done. And the last point, such a good one. If he was so predictable and so easy to figure out in the second half of seasons, why didn't that carry over to the first part of the next season? Why didn't they learn from the previous seasons and just to give even more detail to the Texas Tech argument, which you wrote about, you know, in the second halves of seasons after they had played the Sam Houston's and the UTEPs and the Stephen F. Austin's and hung, you know, 59, 69, et cetera, on them to really build up, you know, incredible offensive looking numbers early in the year. What I noticed immediately when I looked at Texas Tech is, I mean, they were given up, like you pointed out. They gave up 32.4 points per contest defensively in the first half of his seasons and 41.9 points per game afterward. And so by the way, that just by definition means your offense isn't getting the same number of opportunities, which is one of the reasons your scoring might be down as well. But their, their offense is never slowed down or got figured out. Their defenses, I mean, they gave up 82 in a game to TCU and 70, you know, in 60s regularly in some of those big 12 games. But I think the injuries are really a big part of the, the Arizona narrative for sure. Yeah. And, and again, like I don't want to rule anything out here. If you want to say quite as a smaller playbook than other teams or maybe he's slow to react to other teams or maybe he doesn't have the, you know, the, the plan beef, the plan sees other teams have. I'm willing to believe that's a possibility. But I just think this argument of, oh, you know, he gets figured out and it's too simple. I don't, that just is too simplistic of an argument for me. There's too many holes in that thing. I think, you know, the, the argument is more than just a table with the, his records and the points per game. That is just too simplistic of a way to analyze football. And I just don't think it does anyone any justice, including this year's commanders. No doubt. I mean, proving, you know, disproving a past narrative doesn't, you know, preclude you from, you know, saying that it might become a future narrative. But in terms of what it was at Texas Tech in Arizona with him as a head coach, it wasn't exclusively an offense getting figured out issue far from it. So since I have you on, what have you seen, what are your thoughts on Washington going from what was an unstoppable offensive team to three losses in a row to Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and then Sunday to Dallas and not being as unstoppable offensively? Yeah. I mean, it's a combination of things, right? You know, you, you start with Jayden Daniels and he's been a little less accurate. And he was so good at, you know, hitting those out routes, throwing his pressure. He felt like he had answers very quickly. And he just has missed some throws. I, I, what the best ribbon trigger not, I certainly can't say there were some throws in the game on Sunday where he had open receiver and just wasn't able to hook up. There were some drops, you know, when I went back and watched that were an issue that I think they weren't dropping as many passes earlier in the year. The running game was better the first half of the year in terms of big plays. They've had, I think, one 20 plus yard run during this losing streak. And that was the Jayden Daniels scramble late in the game on Sunday during, I think the Teshan Drive before the crazy 81 yard play, but they haven't had any big runs on in the running game. And that was really an explosive part of the offense. Whether it was Nick Olis, whether it was Echler, whether it was Brian Robinson, whether it was Daniels, they were hitting a lot of explosive runs earlier in the season. They're converting their downs left or down to about 34%, which I think is partly a product of being, you know, stuck in less favorable downs and distances on third down and also, you know, I think having a little more past protection issues. I think things happen a little better at attacking some of the weaknesses of the past program for the current for the commanders. But the biggest thing to me is the schedule, right? I mean, this was a situation where first half of the year, they were not playing a lot of tough defenses. And I know the Cowboys, not a tough defense by the numbers, they did have Michael Parsons back, which is I think obviously helps that defense significantly versus what we saw from them earlier in the year, but, you know, playing the Steelers, playing the Eagles, those are the two of the five best defenses in football. And back to me is a very reasonable thing that would cause you to struggle. And I just think the other thing I would say, Kevin, to finish up this very rambly answer is, you know, when we talked about this team entering the year, the expectations were so low because of what was around Jayden Daniels, right? I mean, this is not an imposing offensive line on papers outside of Terry McLaurin. Not an impressive group of receivers on paper. And so I do think that expectations appropriately, like this is, you know, this is not a situation where you have stars who are going to carry this team if Jayden Daniels is not playing out of his mind and if Jayden Daniels is less than 100%, it's going to be tough to find the pieces, the people who can overcome that because outside of Terry McLaurin, there's not those guys who work different thinkers on paper. Yeah, I mean, all of that is true. I think one of the things for me in the last few weeks, I've pointed out at nauseam, the fact that Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are really good not to mention they played. They played them in four days, you know, and Philly basically had a, you know, a rest game against the Cowboys, Washington had gone to the limit against Pittsburgh. By the way, real quickly, I'm just curious. Are you, where are you on Philly right now? Where are they among the NFL elites? Because it seems like their defense has put them in, and Barkley has put them right there with Detroit and Kansas City Buffalo. Yeah, that's the thing that I think really scares me about the Eagles is the defense is so much better. I mean, the offense is basically, offense is where it was a year ago. I'd say point has made a big difference, but the passing game has been a little worse because of the injuries to AJ Brown and Vermont, they Smith, and they've had some injuries on the offensive line as well. So the passing name has been more inconsistent, but the defense, I mean, it is way better than where it was a year ago. And obviously, that's what really helped them during the second half of the year when they kept losing games. They couldn't cover anybody. Their pass rush shut down, their carpet was a mess. I think adding those rookies, adding the gene, adding Quincy Mitchell and the secondary, those guys have both been handsome. They've been, I think, the best defense in football since week five. So that is the very scary formula to me is when you have that kind of running back, that kind of offensive line and that kind of defense, you can win a lot of games deep in the season. Do you like them as much as you like Detroit? That's a tough question. I actually, in a little skeptical of Detroit, even though they've been managing the pull it off, I just, Kevin, I can't think of a team in the history of the National Football League who won a Super Bowl, who had a less imposing pass rush on paper than used to Detroit Lions. And I really feel bad. They lost Aidan Hutchinson. They lost Marcus Davenport. They did get to the various SNPs, not to say veteran who's going to help, but he's not the same guy he was four or five years ago. They've been covering. They've been blitzing a lot. They've been great in the secondary. They're winning with coverage now and winning with blitzes as opposed to winning with their pass rush. But I just, that's just the old school part of me, you have to have that guy who can't be blocked. You have to have your Christians deep into a playoff run and I don't know if the Lions have that guy. But if the offense is, I'm a little scared that they're going to run into a team that's going to be able to throw on them or run on them because they don't have that guy who's going to be the structure approach. That seems like a barnwell column to come because we think about the quarterback. We think about, you know, stopping the run, running the football as, you know, you know, pretty much Givens or it's got, it's got to be two thirds of that to win a Super Bowl. Nope. Like I think about the Colts, we were talking about Peyton Manning earlier because that kind of comped Peyton Manning's for seven, eight years to Lamar Jackson's. Not stylistically. But in the way we thought about those quarterbacks in the moment, like really great, but, you know, they can't do it in the postseason and until Lamar clears that hurdle, we'll probably think that way. But I was thinking about their, their, their Super Bowl team. They weren't a great defensive team, but I think they got Mathis back late before that Super Bowl run and they had a pass rush in the postseason. So do you, where does pass rush rank in terms of, do you have, I mean, it sounds like you have a gut feel that it's, it's important and you're not going to win one without a pass rush. I mean, I, I, again, I'm not saying it's impossible. And there are teams who have done it in bulk. Like, I mean, the Buccaneers, when they beat the Chiefs that year, it was not like, you know, Shaq Barrett's a really good player. Vida Vegas, a really good player. It felt like they had, you know, an all pro pass rush, or if they had five or six guys who were really good, who had been productive as pros, the Lions don't really have that. And I just, you know, there might be a team in that thinking of them, don't want to rule it out. And they're so good everywhere else that maybe they're the exception and they can pull it off. But I mean, it, it is just a really hard thing to do historically, you know, think about the Chiefs last year, how many times there were in key situations in the postseason and they got bailed out because Chris Jones made a play east. Yeah. Ran the turn down Josh Allen was Fletcher Cox that for Philadelphia's year. I'm trying to think of like the, when the Eagles with Nick Foles wanted, did they have a dominant pass rush or we just, we just throw Fletcher Cox and how great he was into that? Yeah. That's a good point. I would say Fletcher Cox is probably the closest thing and they don't have the Lions to have a Fletcher Cox caliber player to me, but they had, they were a very deep pass rush. Certainly they had Brandon Graham, who's been really good for a long time with those sadly. It's not a year. You know, they had Chris Long, who had been really productive for the Rams. You know, they weren't too okay. You don't have that one guy, but you can roll six, seven, eight guys. Oh, by the way, Kevin, I'll play it on that game, Tom Brady threw for 500 yards and they lost. True. You know, if you, if you can win a game where, you know, the guy on the other side of the field goes to private, they live to be the Chiefs from a home service for 505 yards. Hey, you know, I will tip my cock and say I was wrong. But that is a, it is really tough to pull off. So yeah, I mean, Von Miller twice for two different teams. If you just go back in recent years, you know, Seattle obviously had a dominant pass rush in New England, whether it was one great one. They schemed it up better than anybody else. Yeah, right. You know, but I'll tell you what though, I've been waiting for weeks to say, okay, you know, the Lions lost to me, the guy who was defensive player of the year before he got hurt. You know, okay, well, we were going to see the effect that in the weeks to come. They haven't felt it yet. They have been really good. Aaron Glenn's done a great job of creating pressure with blitzes. Their secondary has been really good. They're getting with, you know, they're playing with, I think the highest blitz rate in football. So they're finding ways. So I don't want to rule it out, but that is just my one concern about the Lions that to me pretty much every other big contender around the NFL has a guy who can get to a pressure in a key situation. Yeah, they are down the list right now in sacks. That's for sure. They've got 25 total on the season that looks to be about 25th 24th in the NFL. Interesting. And yet, and yet they don't every time they play, it just seems like they're not going to lose, but we'll see. Who do you like in the AFC? Oh gosh, so I, here's the thing, Kevin, I'm going to sound like I'm bragging and I want you to give me a second to prove that I'm not bragging. I'll give you more than a second. I think the Chiefs are going to win 16 games this year before the season. And they might do that and I still might be wrong because the team I expected to see before the year is not the Chiefs we have seen actually play out this year. They have not been good deep passing. Obviously, the injuries to rice and brown herd, I was expecting them to be better with the football, protect the football and have a better turnover rate. They have not done that. My home has been very sloppy with the football, but they're the Chiefs. They pull it out. Hey, I mean, every game it feels like they make, you know, rice young look like he's going to beat them and then they pull out something in the last second and the host is at 33-year-old scrabble, instead of a field goal. This is a weaker Chiefs team to me than last year by a comfortable margin. They were much better on defense than they were a year ago. They miss Isaiah Pacheco. I think getting him back is going to help and maybe getting P.J. Humphrey is the left tackle they signed is going to upgrade, which will even the weakest spot on their roster with one of your Mars and Kingsley Sue, a attire struggling at left tackle. But I mean, I have to stick with them just because I picked them before the year. I pick them in the Super Bowl each of the last five years. I've been right the last two years, but you know, they're not, even though I was very high on them before the year, even though they are 10-1, they're not leading up to my expectations. So I feel like it's really up in the air at this point. I'm just sticking with the Chiefs because they were right there before the season. All right, last one, does Barkley have a legitimate case to be the MVP? Ooh, it's tough and I don't want to nitpick, right? He's been so good at his best. And to me, I had him behind Derek Henry until last week. Now he's ahead of Derek Henry for me. And the only issue is we have seen him struggle in moments that have caused the Eagles even victories. Remember we two, they're in three, a third and two, a third of three against the Falcons. He drops that pass. He's given them a first down or a touchdown to win the game, Falcons come back after the field goal. They win the game. Would have been over. Jaguar's game. He's almost untouched. Jaguar scored touchdown. Later in that game, he slides down early on a play that would have, uh, tried to kill clock and then they have to punt. Jaguar's going to fall with a chance back to win the game against the Browns, or first half of that game. He comes up short on second and one, uh, gives up a sack in, in pass reduction on third and one. And then, uh, the Browns walk a field goal return if we touch down, that comes up closer game than it should have been. It's not fair because you can make those cases maybe for quarterbacks who have made mistakes and it's not really, you know, if, with Lamar taking a step backwards the past couple of weeks. So he was really good last night. Um, you know, I feel like Barkley has drawn more of the attention and this is really the year of the sort of research and running back. So I could see it going to him. I could see it going to Henry. I think he has a case. I think it's over 2,000 yards. He's on pace for about 2,150 right now with the 17th. If he breaks Eric Dickerson's record, I was thinking about this because I asked my last guest this, if he breaks Eric Dickerson's record, he's, he's the MVP. Has to be. Has to be. And it should be. And no, there would be, I would have no issue with that being the case, even though he has a great offensive line, even though obviously he's had a few hiccups here and there, he has been so dominant. He's so good at taking advantage of the United States networks game. They had two plays where they did not fit the run well and there was a gap. And for, you know, unless they're running back for, you know, a mild Sanders was a good player when he was healthy, but he's not sick on Barkley. Okay. You get 10 yards. You get 15 yards. You get 20 yards. When you get safe on Barkley, a crease, it's over. It is absolutely over. You are not catching him in the open fields. You're not catching him one on one. That guy who's your last line of protection, that guy is not tackling safe on Barkley. And so to me, I feel like if he gets even close to Dickerson, if he gets over 2k to me, I think he had, he should be the favorite to an MVP. You're the best. Thanks so much for the time. I appreciate it. Hope you're well. Yeah. I don't love talking ball anytime. Bill Barnwell, everybody at Bill Barnwell on X and good stuff on the Kingsbury stuff. He went deep and did the, did the homework on what happened in those seasons at Texas Tech and at Arizona doesn't mean that maybe starting now Kingsbury's offenses are going to fall apart in the second half of the season and it's going to be because of the offense rather than other factors, injuries, comparing it to easier schedules earlier in the season, having a terrible defense, which by the way, after Sunday, still not bought into the defense. I'm going to get to that next hour, but we'll do some debt news next. Kevin Schien show, the team 980, the team 980.com, are free and live on the Odyssey app. Welcome back. Jockeys company live on 106, seven, the fan commanders in the midst of a three game losing streak. First two were somewhat understandable because they played the Steelers and the Eagles. This last one had everybody scratching our heads as they lost in a game where they were fair by 10 and a half points to a Dallas Cowboys team that had lost five in a row that was given up 35 points per game. So we're wondering, what do you think is going to happen here against Tennessee, Tennessee, we mentioned earlier when we were doing hit the skins has a highly ranked defense, although when you look at points per game, they're not that highly ranked, but part of that has to do with some of the other factors we were talking about. When we talk about Washington, we should talk about the running game. Eb, it hasn't been what it was earlier this season. Now, it looks like you're not going to have Brian Robins Jr. So they did sign Chris Rodriguez yesterday, right? Of course. Elevated him. You know, he's competent. You know, he could definitely make a play or two, but he's not elite. No doubt about that. I think it's going to be McNichols as the lead back and you'll get some Rodriguez sprinkled in, I would think, but I could be a thousand percent wrong. I think they're going to go with whoever's hot. So they give McNichols a first shot at it and if he, and if he gets rolling, they'll keep it going. So Rodriguez last year played in 13 games, had 51 carries for 247 yards, 4.8 yards per carry. Right. Pretty strong. Did find the end zone twice. This year has been on the roster for four games, 13 carries 56 yards, 4.3 yards per carry. So he's certainly been competent. In fact, those numbers are actually probably better in terms of yards per carry average than the other guys. Right. I don't know. Listen, again, I'm not an exes and those guys. I don't understand why things have come to a screeching halt. To me, it almost seems like a numbers game. Like they're bringing more guys. We can't account for them all. I don't know. I think this is a game also where the defense really needs to come to the front and help the offense. Like, you've got a guy in Will Levis who you're facing, who's been sacked 20 times in the last three games. Going back into late September, he was sacked eight times in a game against the Green Bay Packers. Like, he's very gettable, he's going to let you sack him and he's very prone to turning the ball over as well. Like this would be the perfect time for this defense to come up with, I don't know, three, four, maybe five sacks on Will Levis, force the ball loose. I like the pick six. I mean, he's thrown several pick sixes already this season. Can we see that happen gear? Well, they're going to have to pressure him that in last week, they weren't able to pressure a go hand in hand. They weren't able to press her Cooper rush. Right. Yeah. And if you don't pressure him, he will find Calvin Ridley and Westbrook Aquini down the field. They're going to pressure him. They're going to pressure him. I mean, they're going to pressure him just last week. He threw like a 10 yard pass to Chigga Conquo, he a tarp and then he did 60 more yards on his own. Mm hmm. Like he has some pretty good weapons he can get the ball to if he's not moving. He's moved off the spot. Do we know what Lattimore's status is for the game? I actually don't have it the days of the day when you find out about practicing and stuff. What's been a late show? Text JP and ask him. All right. Let me, let me, let me text. I wouldn't be that optimistic for him playing like, why would you bring him back the week before a bi week when you can give him this game is this game is a massive point now where you've got to win. Yeah. I understand it's a huge game, but they've been, there's no, there's no luxury for this team to wait for Lattimore to come back after the, I mean, if they, if they beat Dallas, if they beat Dallas, sure, that's fine, but right now this is a massive game for your playoff standing. Yeah. If you drop this, it's all hands on deck. If you drop this, I mean, obviously, mathematically, you can still, you know, pull things out, but you got to go on a big run, you know, absolutely they are full blown, same old skins, fraud. And I'm actually going to be angry. I don't think they're fraud because they, they actually have their quarterback. You like in years past, you would look at them, but the game, the game has changed cakes. Sorry, but I know this was, yeah, I'm already over that. I already know I got my quarterback. Right. Now I want to win. I'm kind of, I'm kind of thinking about this Tennessee Titans defense and the reputation and where they are ranked. And I'm starting to buy it to them being fraudulent. Thank you. Cause I'm looking deeper. I'm looking deeper into it. If you just look at the last three games, all right, my mantra this week, they did a pretty good job against the Texans and, and, and CJ Stradd was picked off twice. He also ran, he did an Orlovski and ran out of the back of the end zone safely, right? But if, if you look at the Vikings game, Darnall had a pretty good game against them. You look at the Chargers game, Herbert didn't, he wasn't asked too much. I think you know, like 18 past him, but they ran against him. The Lions put up 52 against him. I know it's the Lions. Bills put up 30, 34 against him. This defense isn't, this isn't the 85 bears points are coming from Will Levis mistakes, pick sixes. I know. Some sure part of it. That's some of it. But some of the story, but, and look, it's Josh Allen, I'll just pick one of those games. Josh Allen threw for 323 yards against him. Like right now they have the number one ranked past defense. They only give up 170 yards per game passing, but some of it is circumstance of telling you like the Chargers beat them. Well, I think that's also weighted too because Legerius Snead is one of the top corners in the league and he was playing in the first, I want to say half of their games. He's on IR now. He's not going to be there. And he hasn't been there for the last, I want to say two or three games. So teams may be attacking them more through the air than they were earlier in the season. Well, actually statistics go the other way because I was going to say that in that game against the Chargers, which you're saying Snead's not there, Herbert only threw it 18 times. Because they had such success running the football, I'm telling you. And then Donald, all right, Donald didn't put up 300 yards, yeah, two weeks ago, but Donald had two touchdown passes against them. Look, Washington has to fix their offense regardless of opponent because it hasn't been the same. I would lean into what Eby talked about, let Jaden cook. I like seeing him run the football for 70 plus yards. He's their leading passer obviously, and he's also their leading rusher. You're going to need a Superman type of effort from Jaden Daniels for them to not go into the bye week on a real skid. I heard an interesting discussion between Craig Hoffman and Logan Paulson and Craig brought up a passing chart of Jaden Daniels. And I remember earlier this season we talked about it, right? Give me the passing chart. Do you remember the passing chart where it looked like he really favored throwing to the right side? Well, I guess Craig looked into it and saw that tendency has continued throughout the season where he throws more balls to the right side than the left side. Well, then why the hell you got teary lined up on the left? Craig's less. If you're more comfortable throwing to the right and Logan was kind of being defensive, he's like, well, if that's the case, he's like, I have to look more into the numbers. Let's look at the kind of passes they were. Let's see if there were a bunch of formations here, you know, he obviously was taking a more sophisticated approach towards it, but if you just take the simplistic approach and if your quarterback seems to like to throw to the right side, and that might be the case with the most right-handers, because when you drop back, your vision is a little bit more to the right than turning your head to the left. Well, how about put your best receiver on the right, which by the way, on that miraculous touchdown, where was Terry lined up? He was lined up in the slot on the right-hand side. Also, is anybody else raising an eyebrow that Austin Cyber is now on I/O? You're kicking the curb. How did you miss them on I/O yesterday? How did I miss it? I was playing golf. How did you get the skins? I said that if your kicker isn't ready, why are you rushing back? It was obvious. What are you doing? Something wasn't right. Or you lean or you walk toe and look, or it's their way of cutting and be nice and actually like they're not giving up on them, but bringing the other guy back. It could be a cover. I don't know what it is. But once you put them on, I can't bring them back this season, right? Who cares? Well, but if Gonzalez tours him, she's trying to get him back to the streets. You can bring him back. He goes on for what? Four weeks, right? Okay. Yes, I missed four weeks. I'm just saying theoretically. Right. I saw that. I saw that. I saw that. I saw that. I saw that. I saw that. That's under-reported. That. That. You know what I want to say. He played her. Yes. I said that. Yeah. Two days ago. No, I know. I threw it out there. And also, I threw it out during the game. I was tweeting it. You must have come back too soon. Yes. But everyone convinced me that no, he told him he was healthy and all. So he. Oh, I'm lying. Everyone's lying. What do I? I got the t-shirt. Everybody lies. It's going to be my Christmas. It'll be my Christmas special. I'll say this. The guy. No excuses. He hit a 51 yarder before the missed extra point. So what? He still could be hurt. He had the distance to do it. But you know, he pulled it off. He stinks. He missed the biggest kick of the year. He doesn't stick. People got so mad when I said he stinks. He's been on eight teams. He doesn't matter. That's what kickers do. They go through a journey. They have the ones that stink. No, they're just. They're guys that are going heaters. Not everybody's like Justin Tucker. He's great for 20 years now. Okay. He sucks. But 20 years just great. Nobody's like that. Kickers. They're like golfers. They go on heaters. Sometimes it's their season. Yeah. They just go on heaters. Your t-shirt for Christmas. Everyone lies. Comma. Even Santa. Yeah. But that that news definitely caught by I asked her that. How come no one's talking about it? Well, it came out yesterday. Hey, everyone that's talking about it. No, we are because you're playing golf with 80 year olds. Not yesterday. I played with guys. It was. It was on fire. It was on fire on the internet yesterday about it was very it was very Ron Rivera. Ask. Yeah. I mean, all that commentary. I was busy. Dan's first putting. Dan's first like massive, massive blunder. Yeah, he kind of cyber people are blaming cyber because they thought that that he was scared. Yes, he was scared of losing his job because Gonzalez or whatever the guy came in there was taken. Yeah, of course. I mean, it's obvious. I tweeted it during the game. It's obvious. I mean, it was such an obvious thing, but they denied it. And then of course they go back on it. Everyone lies. All right. Let's go to the phone. I'm going to do a burgundy and gold. Everybody lies t-shirt. I'm going to do. I'm going to do one in like caps colors and line about a movie's injury and every. I'm doing I'm doing every every team color, black and orange for the Orioles fans. Let's go to the phones and see what people think. Do you the commanders write the ship? If not, if they lose on Monday, we play Titanic. Probably right. It sounds. It sounds four in a row. You go from seven to two to seven and six. It's not a great look. I can't believe that that kickers on it. I'm so. Can't believe you missed it. I was on the golf course. Let's go to the golf course. You went to bed at nine o'clock. I know. I never click on you're on your phone more than anybody. I know you never click on ESPN. I'd actually don't. Did you lose your phone on the golf course? I only put in my scores. I just put in my chips and putts and fairways it care to guess the match up predictor from ESPN as to who they think will win the game. 61% commanders. This actually has 66% for the commanders. Okay. Yeah. Wow. So two out of three times are picking the commanders to win. Let's go to Greg, of course it was about that last week. Yeah. Bigger favorites last week, Greg, are you there? Yeah. Good morning, junkies. Hey, buddy. Happy Thanksgiving. Long time viewer, first time caller. I have a comment on the kicker situation. All right. Looking back, I think the Brandon McManus decision was a big mistake and it's really hurt the team. They made a rash quick judgment on him. Now the lawsuit's been dropped and he's helping green bait for playoff run. So I think looking back, had we kept McManus or taking the situation would be a lot more stable. We'd be a lot better spot just wanted to get your maybe I mean, I can see that in hindsight. It's hard in the middle of the allegations. I mean, in theory, I'd like people to stand by guys until proven otherwise. So I understand and I agree with the sentiment, but I can't say that cyber was a fail before last week. The guy was brilliant. He had a sudden field goal game, brilliant. He's definitely helped you win games. He was amazing. And then he came back too soon, obviously injured, or re-aggravated. This prize has no financial impact. I want to take a deep breath on this state with me here B in college football. Now this may change a little bit in the era of the 12 team playoff, but more often than not, more years than not, when you lost was more important than who you lost to totally. You know what I mean? Yeah. And even this season, and I think they're a good team and I made some money, actually one money betting this weekend throw a damper rate, not significant, but still it's always good to, it's always good to see the hoop every once in a while. But in college football this year, Notre Dame looks pretty damn good. That said, Notre Dame lost to Northern Illinois. That's the worst loss of any team that's going to go to the playoffs. When did they lose it? Week two. No, nobody's worried about it. No, nobody. They forgot. Right. Now, kind of like where I address addresses or in Alexandria, sure, but if you look at Denver, I, I'm not going to, I really don't care about the rookie of the year. We totally honest with you, but a lot of people do and a lot of people want to make a big deal out of it. So if you look at the Broncos, they started 0 and 2 and Bo Nix looked awful early on this season. He looked awful. There wasn't a lot of completions or was a lot of fun that was just turnovers. It just, it really didn't look good. I mean, through three weeks of the season, he had no touchdowns, four picks. And they were, they were one and two. They just like offensively, they were really, really limited in a road win against the jets going back to week four. He threw, he was 12 to 25 completed 48% of his passes for 60 yards with a touchdown. Okay. That's awful. All right. So you know what has happened over the last couple of months? Nix has started to play a lot better. Okay. The Denver Broncos are playing a lot better. And now all of a sudden everybody wants to be like, man, Bo Nix is going to win rookie of the year. And they want to use that as some sort of indictment on Jayden Daniels. You know what I tell people? Jayden started on fire and it's probably plateaued a bit, but it's still playing at a high level. It's not a week for week thing. People got to learn to stop being a roller coaster ride in this football season, man, understand things are going to go up and down. And that's what it comes down to. Jayden just have to settle down and finish up strong because if you start looking at who won what, nobody's close to him. So if that makes somebody feel good about some comments, they probably may prior, let them do it. Who gives a damn? I, um, I just think like you've got a, if you want to look at Bo Nix, the reason he's starting to look so good, some of it is he's playing well, Denver's defense is playing very well. But it's also like he was so bad that this, that the improvement is so significant that it's like, wow, this guy's really coming on. Jayden's just been good. He's just been good the whole time. And so much of this is perception driven. Yeah. I don't, I can't imagine there would be any other answer to if you asked all the GMs in the NFL, what quarterback they want from this rookie class. I think there's one answer and it starts with Jade. So again, I can't say this loudly enough. I don't care about rookie of the year. I think it's cool if Jayden gets it. I, I don't think it's indicative of anything. If he doesn't, Robert Griffin, the third got it. And yesterday he showed up in a orange corduroy cowboy suit with a jersey tucked in. Like the, I don't know, I, I looked this up earlier, the list of rookies of the year and some of them are legit, um, but you know who won it in 2020? Herbert wanted ahead of burrow. Yeah. Burrow got hurt. I'm at the Brady win it Todd girly won it in 15 Brady ever when it did Brady win it. No, cause he didn't play till his second season paid one it. Peyton probably won it. Let me look. We'll lie in the steps of this first year. What was Peyton's rookie year? I don't see his names. We probably didn't win it. I think it was 98. Yeah, he could lead through lead to a damn near 2030, uh, interceptions. Now I'm also looking at the AP offensive rookie of the year. So if there's another one, forgive me. Peyton did not win it in 1998. You know who won it? Who? Randy Moss and Roger win it, uh, no, cause he didn't even play as a rookie. Okay. But I'm just aiming a great quarterback. Some of the guys that did win it, uh, Mike Anderson with the Broncos, Anthony Thomas with the bears, I'm, I'm part of X. You only want quarterbacks. Okay. So I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game. I'm going to go back to the game.
