Last week, Danny, we talked about the commanders and the Cowboys leading up to what should have been a bloodletting of Dallas, and it ended up being a loss. It has changed my sightline on this weekend's game and on this team. I am still going to pick Washington to win, but all the confidence that I had about their good and their opponents bad, and this is a game you should win handily, all of that is now gone. I don't feel that way anymore, but the topic at hand with the Titans coming to town on Sunday is what makes you confident and what makes you nervous. So I'll start with what makes me confident, and what makes me confident is that Will Levis is going to keep you in the game. Even if the Titans play really, really well and Levis is accurate, making plays down the field and they're running the ball well with Tony Pollard who ripped off another 100 yards last week. They're really, really good. Some weeks running the football look like one of the best in the league. They've got a good defense, which we'll get into. Will Levis is going to turn the ball over. He has been picked off in all but one game this season at least once. He gets sacked at a ridiculous rate. The last three weeks he's been sacked 20 times. He was sacked eight weeks by the eight times last week by the Texans. He was sacked seven times a couple of weeks before that by the Chargers five times by the Vikings. He had an eight sack game earlier this year at the hands of the Packers. He gets sacked constantly. So I think what I feel best about what I'm excited about and what I'm confident about is they're going to get to Levis. The pass rush will look better this week because he holds the ball. He has no feel in the pocket whatsoever. Kind of runs into sacks, makes bad decisions. I think they're going to hit him and they're going to turn him over. That's one thing I feel good about. So this is telling to me that my sources of confidence are not Washington related. That kind of has changed my entire island. If he'd asked me two months ago, why am I confident? Jay Daniels is better than anybody he's going to go up against. The offense is excellent. They can run the ball down. People's throats. They're going to dominate this game. My confidence points, just thinking about what you were talking about are very Tennessee related, which I think is telling it enough itself, but I'll get back to it. Tennessee's offense has only scored more than 20 points twice this year in 11 games. They've scored under 20 points eight times over the course of the season. Now, just so happens the most recent game, they had 32 against Houston. That was their best game of the year. I think by far, especially on that side of the football, but in general, this is not a good offense. And when Washington's defense has played not a good offense, they do more than enough to keep their team in the game. What makes you nervous about this game, eight hundred six, three, six, one oh six, seven? What gives you confidence about playing the Titans eight hundred six, three, six, one oh six, seven confidence? I just mentioned that Tennessee's offense isn't particularly good. I know what just happened last week, but a bigger sample says, man, at best. Here's what makes me nervous. Washington's offense, the, the, the Rivex cube has been solved. The puzzle has been solved. Every answer is available. They're making the rounds. Everyone's got like a, uh, the fraternity brother got like a cheat sheet and he's zeroxing it for everybody to go into the final and ace it and Tennessee's got a good defense and can take advantage of it. I think there's no mystery right now with Washington's offense and Tennessee can wreak havoc. What I would be nervous about is, I guess same side of the ball, frankly, but they are good defensively, not for a bad team, not for a three wind team, flat out, full stop. They're a really good defensive club. This is a playoff caliber team. Sometimes I view NFL clubs like by position group or whatever. You could go side of the ball and you could say, well, that's a six win offense. That's a two win special teams if they're really bad. This is probably an 11 or a 12 win defense in my opinion and they're that good. If you look at yards per play as the metric, Tennessee defensively this year has ranked in the top five pretty much circuit to circuit. And right now this moment, they are number three in the NFL in defense. They're number six against the run and they're number three against the pass. This is not going to be an easy game for Cliff Kingsbury to get the passing game going because getting receivers open has been difficult. They don't generate a ton of pressures. They're 19th and sacks per pass attempt, but they normally do a really good job on the back end mixing things up. They don't pick a lot of passes off their 22nd there about one and a half percent of passes get picked off against this defense, but they break plays up. They don't give up big plays. That's the big thing, by the way, they're going to play two safeties high normally. They're going to take away the big play and it's a lot of underneath and intermediate stuff that you're going to have to hit. But they don't allow sustain drive. They're awesome on first down. They get you in third and long. They're number two in the NFL in third down defense, 31 percent convert. They are number two in the NFL and how many first downs they give up per game. Well, I would say it's probably the interior of their defensive line against a banged-up interior of Washington's offensive line, because the Cowboys underman undersized with some injuries, I thought found a way to win the line of scrimmage pretty decidedly. And this Titans team with Jeffrey Simmons, the first round pick back in 2019 has become a superstar. And Tavandre Sweatt, who's a massive guy who plays nose, was a second round pick this past year. Big, big boy. He weighs about 370 pounds. You'll notice him. He weighs number 93. We just look for the smart car in a uniform. The biggest person there. Yeah. I just think that the pocket pushing, he'll be able to do him and Simmons winning. That's what's given Daniel some fix is those guys that come right at him, right? And I could see that happening in this game. I certainly could. And Harold Landry has been a really good player at times over the course of his career as a pass rusher. That's just a well coached solid defense. So some of their numbers jump at you in a, in a bad way, but there's context there. So in terms of points allowed, you already mentioned yards per play, which is the correct metric. And you saw the rankings and run and pass. In terms of points allowed, they've given up way more than you'd think for somebody whose defense is ranked as high as theirs is. That's basically short fields, turnovers, bad offensive moments. Will Levis going, what are you doing, you know, ridiculousness that's led to some of those point totals. Plus they played Detroit when they were at their most buzz sawish and Detroit rang the bell for 52 points. They have a couple weird skewed games that change everything else down in, down out. There are not many better defenses in this one in the NFL. I would be willing to bet and I don't have these numbers up and frankly, I don't even know where I would find them, but I'll look for them. I would be willing to bet that the Titans defensive unit has the worst starting field position against in the league. And if it's not worst, it's going to be really close to it. Based on all the takeaways that you were just talking about from the opponents on Will Levis and this team. I mean, it's awful, bad fumbles and receptions and returns and, you know, they'll get the ball first and 10 inside the 30 and the 20 constantly. And basically eight, you're going to give up points in those situations. But that's also part of why maybe you could say the yards per attempt or the, just the overall yards, rankings are better because the field position is so bad that it is harder to drive the length of the field when you're starting at the opponent's 40 yard line. So when you look at it, they have not given up 400 yards of offense to an opponent yet this year have not. That's not like, Oh, a couple of times nobody has, even in the game, by the way, it's the weirdest game of the year when Detroit scored 52 points. They only managed 225 yards of offense. It's the strangest game I've ever seen statistically, but whatever. Most of the time they've given up, in fact, 200 yards or less in a lot and in about half of their games. So I mean, excuse me, sub 300 yards or less. This is a really good defense again, down in and down out there have been moments of breaking. There have been a couple of big plays against them. There have been, you know, so bad field position things from turnovers and the like, but if you kick it out of the end zone, line up at the 30 and go play six, seven, eight times, I'll take my chances with that defense over probably 27 defenses in the league. So I'm just looking at that lion's game that you've been referencing just to see what happened. David Montgomery had a seven yard touchdown run that capped the 23 yard scoring drive. So that tells you that they took over at the red zone, four turnovers in that game. Tennessee's office did Jameer Gibbs had a 70 yard touchdown run. So that was a one play bad play that they gave up. Then another 25 yard touchdown drive for Detroit, then a 12 yard touchdown drive. And this is wild. So it's basically every single drive started at about the red zone. Then they gave up a punt return touchdown in that game. They gave up a 26 yard touchdown drive. I mean, that's, this is comical. So the longest score, other than the 70 yard touchdown run, the longest scoring drive was like 26 yards in that game. And they were all touchdowns. They didn't, that is a problem for the defense though, that they didn't force any field goals. So that is on the defense. Sure. In that game to an extent as they fell to one in six, but they've been playing better. They have a first year head coach. Levis is actually showing some signs of life too. Like I went through all of the terrible parts of Will Levis and they're bountiful. They're going to be in the quarterback market. I would imagine he is very, very physically tooled up. I mean, he is a guy that has a huge arm. Yeah, he's all shirt off team. Like, oh, I mean, rip is a, is a great God. Yeah. They've quite literally put mayonnaise in his coffee, eat banana with the peel on it and, you know, lift weights. Those are like his favorite hobbies, but he's not impressive. I don't think overall was a prospect, but you can kind of see it and he makes some big time throws, dude. Like he will, if somebody's open deep, he's going to shred you. He's going to hit them and he did last week. So they got to be careful there guys ready to elevate your game. Meet rise max strips.
