From my family at the Sharpest Rides to your family, happy holidays. Sharpest Rides, affordable, sexy, sharp. Last week changed my perception of this team pretty considerably. Prior to losing the game against the Cowboys the way that they did, Danny, they had been taken out of the tier of teams, in my opinion, that is just okay. And okay teams play up and they play down. And I thought they were a good team. A good team doesn't play down, doesn't lose to terrible teams, often dominates them, which is all they had done this season. You can explain away one game in the division, which is essentially what Dan Quinn did. I think he's behind the scenes going to take them to task, go in on the players and explain that what happened was unacceptable. But at the podium, when I asked him about the game and how this happened and earlier in the year you had all these games like this on the schedule and you dominated all those teams, this was different. He's that kind of expected it. The division can be a little tricky, essentially, I'm paraphrasing, but this is not that. This is out of conference. This is like when the Browns came to your place and you beat them by 20 plus, right? That's what this should look like. So if they lose consecutive games, if they spoil an opportunity with two straight weeks where you should be two and oh, and at worst, even if you play badly at the worst, you should be one in one and they go over in those two weeks with teams gaining on them in the rear view mirror, then yeah, I'm going to feel like not only are they going to have a hard time making the playoffs, but you probably shouldn't honestly. At that point, they will be seven and six. They will be a Hail Mary away from a losing record six and seven and it will have been a very real crash back to reality of four games where we got ahead of ourselves. We were really excited. Nobody was wrong in the moment. They were seven and two at one point that happened at that time. Only the lions were better in the conference, but that was fleeting. It was not authentic and it was not sustainable. And so yeah, I think if they beat the Titans based on the math, which tells you at a 70 some percent clip, they'll make the playoffs. They're probably going to. If they lose to the Titans, Danny, and they're sub 50% for the first time, I think that those numbers are correct. I have a hard time envisioning them going three and one in four games with the Eagles on the schedule with a Cowboys team. They should beat, but it's already beaten them. Atlanta is going to be a toss up at New Orleans is not a fun place to play even though they're bad. You see them playing pretty good football and going two and two and that still gets you to nine and eight needing help. So the way I view it is along similar lines, we get to a similar conclusion. If you can't beat two teams at home, mind you, by the way, with extra rest for the Dallas game, then then they had, if you can't be two teams with a combined seven and 15 record as a quote unquote playoff team, what are we talking about? We're doing the same old Redskins, WFT, the new team name dance of, all right, if this team loses and four other teams tie and we might win on Sunday, but if they're back up quarterback plays and they maybe we can score, but it keep the score within seven points back into the playoffs thing at best, which is what it's been. And we're ahead of schedule. I'm still very happy. Big picture frustrated about this year though. Again, I can spend both plates, but we've done this dance before. If you can't beat two bad teams who are going to pick on the top 10 at home in late November, now early December with the Tennessee game December 1st, what are we doing? Like, you know what I mean? The, the, like, let's, let's math it out and let's see what happens and we'll do that. That's the exercise. That's an important clarification, right? Because I think it's true that even if they lose to the Titans, of course, you can see the path. It still exists. There's four games left and they will be at worst probably tied going into their bi-week for the final playoff spot and I would bet based on tiebreakers at this point, they would still have a playoff spot and maybe you could leapfrog in the bi-week, but you come out of it with a game you're going to be favored in at New Orleans against the Saints and you'll end the season with a game you're favored in against the Cowboys. So if you just hold serve it to and to there, you don't win any games you're not supposed to, you're still nine and eight and you've got a shot. And now you've got to beat a very beatable Falcons team that this past time they played they were at a bi-week this week, they got blown out by the Broncos and an Eagles team that you could have led in the fourth quarter, very, very hard to beat them. So I think the ceiling is probably three and one that still gets you to 10 and seven and gets you in. Everyone can see how they can do it, but the point is, is it even worth that exercise? What are we talking about really if they can't beat Dallas at home and they can't beat awful Tennessee offensively, they're pretty good defensively, but Will Levis wants to give you the football three or four times in that game. If you can't accept those gifts and just beat Tennessee on the road, then what are we doing? Yeah, eight of the eleven teams Tennessee has played. Like so if you reverse the order of these games, like let's say for the sake of argument that the next two that they were seven and five in a vacuum, the next two games they played were against Pittsburgh and Philadelphia and you go, we can't even beat those teams. Well, yeah, those are excellent teams. They're really, really good. So that's, that's not casting a giant shadow over everything they've accomplished. That doesn't ruin everything. Getting to two bad teams at home in a stretch run when you're trying to qualify for the postseason and everybody thinks your bleep don't stink. That's a let the air out of the balloon thunderstorm on the parade. Let's all calm down and look big picture instead of week to week this year. Yeah. That is what's at stake on that. That's what's here. I think it's, it's pretty simple. It's not a must win. It's an auto win. It's a game you should win because Tennessee has a five and a half point dog, which is about half of what you were favored over the Cowboys who beat you last week, by the way. So take that for what it's worth. But they're going to come in here. They're going to give you chances just like Dallas did. Dallas didn't play a great football game. Dallas didn't look like a playoff bound team that just got hot for a day. Uh-uh. That wasn't what happened. They were bad and you matched their bad. So now this week with the Titans here and a turnover prone quarterback and an offense that's going to run the ball and try to make some explosives down the field and a top five defense, probably a tougher customer than the Cowboys were on paper. If you win, you're going to be expected to make the playoffs. It would be hard not to. They would have to collapse again after the buy and go like one in three with a loss to Dallas in the final week or a loss to the Saints in New Orleans to not get in at that point. If you lose to the Titans, now you got work to do. And I think it's the line of demarcation in the sand. Right now, this second, like the Monday we said, are they still a playoff team? I said, yes, you still think they're going to make the playoffs. My answer is yes. You asked me that right now. I would say yes. If they lose to the Titans, my answer for the first time since probably, I don't know, after the Carolina game would be no, we get hung up on that you and me, but I think us, all of us, football fans, people of the care on the phrase must win. And there's like a semantic argument around it where you're going, well, unless they're facing elimination, then you can't say must win. I understand that. So I'm not going to use the term must win. I'm going to say they need to win it. Here's why on our number of fronts, one, just as we're talking about it, fighting for your playoff lives, you're the, you're in the seven seed, three teams are right behind you. You know, a couple are now getting healthier as they go with easy schedules and you're the NFC West, if Arizona is able to do anything at all, you know, they, they're decently positioned when you're on a buy, they'll have a chance to win and they can be tied with you, et cetera. All that stuff's true. We got that to validate the program a little bit, to validate or to dispel some of these narratives that are creeping up that aren't helpful narratives. Okay. Now we didn't invent that Cliff Kingsbury's offenses don't do as well in the second half of seasons. The numbers did. And his offenses did going back to Texas tech, you can look at him. You can excuse it and say they played better competition in the big 12 and I'm going, yeah, and they played better competition as offenses went, same in Arizona, same here. You can dispel that. You can, you can take that narrative and trust, weigh it into the sun. You can take the, Hey, all this stuff with, uh, you know, all the, this hokey brotherhood, this and that and all the slogans and things are, are we really doing the best we can or we really coaching them up the right way are we doing, or we went in press conferences by seeing like where everybody's buddy, you can kick that away. If you, if you stop the bleeding rally and play well starting this week, you put some of the, the, the chirping and the noise and the questions to bed. So it's not must win. Again, that's that you can reserve that for a game seven or when you're down three games than on an, an, an opposed season. That's all fine by me. This is a need to, like you lose three straight, especially that last one at home, but you know, I'll, I'll tell you this. I'm sorry. I'm over talking here, but my buddies and I, the guys that I used to watch football with every Sunday for the first time in 15 years, as guys were in town for Thanksgiving, we all got together. I mean, a big deal of trick, dragging kids around and, you know, probably get an arguments with our wives, do whatever that we possibly could. We got together to watch that Dallas Washington game on Sunday and a bunch of guys that haven't watched the game, not even gone names, haven't watched a game in years and, and like this, this is it. You need it. You validate some of this stuff. You're trying to bring the fans back, right? You can't just bleed out to attend the season. Getting help for mental health shouldn't be as hard as it is.
