Brad and John - Mornings on KISM
Out of gas stories
You didn't have to listen, but you did, but you did so Brad and John are gonna thank you. Oh yeah, with 150 bucks in gas today. Thank you to the Lummi Bay market exits 260. You're best out of gas story. Brad and John. Okay, so I was a firefighter up north in the Yukon and this is in the winter. It's about - 35 minus 40 Celsius, and we get a call for a car fire. We go out about 200 kilometers, and these people ran out of gas and couldn't keep their car going, so they set it on fire to stay warm. Wow, well, you got to do what you got to do, man. Stay alive, you know. One's very clean and they still have their car. Yeah, that's a costly one. Hey, thanks. There must have been at least just enough gas in the gas tank to get that thing going. Or they set the interior on fire and then it yeah. Let's say hi to Jeremy from Wings Up in Custard. Oh, so this has to involve a motorcycle running out of gas. Well, good game. All right, where did this happen? Well, this happened in Utah. You know, one of my favorite things to do some cross-country ride. In fact, I'm leaving the day after Christmas for a quick trip to Key West Florida. A quick trip to Key West Florida. How long does that take? Well, you know, two and a half week in good weather, so I have five reserves. I never know. I am envying to you going to Key West. We're watching this series on Apple Plus. I think it's called the Monkey Man. It's the Vince Vaughn series, and it takes place down there, like in Miami and the Keys, and oh man, that place never looks better than in the middle of a gray November. So where did you run? You ran out of gas in Utah? Yeah, I was riding, riding around doing a long trip with my old man and going, you know, out there, there's not a whole lot of gas stations at times, and I thought, oh, I can make it. I can make it. Well, no, there I am on the side of the highway out of gas, and kind of what the heck do we do? Oh, my dad grabs a water bottle, opens a fuel line, fills the water bottle, pour it in my tank, get on the road, do that three times, pull off, I can put fuel in, and then finally, I did not something I recommend. I got within like three feet of the back of a semi and just did the old draft thing to get me all the way to the back. I drafted, and it worked. I thought it would work, but that actually got me far. Really? Yeah, you gotta do what you gotta do, man. Don't be stuck in the desert. Hey, Jeremy, have fun. Happy Thanksgiving. Send us some pictures from the Keys, okay? I would do that for sure, man. Thanks, guys. You got a great thank you. You too. Jimmy gave us one here that touched our hearts and and our souls and probably people shedding tears when they heard this story that we read a little earlier this morning. Jimmy, this involved you running out of gas with your your boss, right? You guys were right. Okay, see, you ran out of your ran out of gas and your boss comes to get you, and then he ends up running out of gas. Right? Yeah. Okay. Now, how does the boss end up in jail again? So the boss, when we were pulled over, I guess the cop just ran the place because he had expired tabs. Okay. So you just run into plates running, you know, normal check, I guess, and then it turns out he just had a bunch of warrants out for the rest. The boss. Okay, so they take the boss away. You go back to work. The boss calls you says, Jimmy, I need you to get into that safe and pull some money out of there and bail me out. Right? Right. Okay. So you go to the jail, you bail him out, and then your life is changed at the jail. Oh, big time. Big time. What happens to change your life at jail? Well, you guys were playing some music. I liked the music. And then you guys started talking. And I just was like, who are those guys? I asked the officer and I was like, Oh, it's just KISN 92.9. We are on John. We are on the radio jail. And I just, I just had no idea, because I'm not really from around this area. And I didn't know there was a good plastic rock radio station. And by going to jail, bailing out the boss, you get turned on to KISM on the jail radio there. And that was it. Yeah, I just, I've never looked back since. I've been listening to you guys almost every morning since then. 12 bar blues from behind bars. How many lives have been turned around by jail, Brad? And here's another story. It is a behind the prison wall story with a happy ending. Okay, Jimmy, we're glad we're glad that this happened. I hope your boss is on the straight and narrow. He's not still, well, no, you bailed him out. So he's not, he's not behind bars anymore. No, I don't work there anymore. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe he is back in jail. I kind of found a job shortly after that. All right. Well, good Jimmy. Glad things are going well for you. Glad you found us. And thanks to the, how long ago was that Jimmy? I'd say about three years ago. Oh, what jail was it that that had us on? It was just, it was just the one in Walkham County, like right there in Bellingham. Oh, great. All right. Good to know that we're, that we're on there. Thank you, Jimmy. Thanks for submitting us to submitting that story. And happy Thanksgiving to you. And well, happy Thanksgiving to you guys too, as well. God bless. Always good to have a captive audience. Yeah. Yeah. Maybe who knows how many was it like? Oh, yeah. Yeah. But then that can lead to some, uh, some PTSD too, Brad. If all of a sudden, you know, that, that's all they're hearing in jail. And then, and then they're out of jail and somebody's got us on depending on your experience. That's true. That might not be good. We hope it's only positive. If they play one more foreigner song, I swear I'm going to snap. People get upset in there or something. It was the billy idol I heard on that station.
