We're coming at you live at 1040-0-street. The block is definitely hot. We brought you by the Mercado Certified P.M.T. Special increase of butcher shop. 84th and Havlock, 30th and Yankee Hill, 80-15 ongermat, and 168th and maple up there in the O. Austin, before we get into it, since we did it Friday, we did a pre-game show, but real quickly, since we got seven minutes, then we'll go a little bit longer. How was your turkey day, man? It was great. My wife was working, so I had the kid, a lot of family around. The first one didn't handle best. A lot of people, a lot of attention, not exactly his favorite thing, and he wasn't feeling the grub. Your dad was, but we got through it, we made it. He came around to people, eventually. He warmed up and then had another one on Saturday. It was better. It was better to handle the kind of deal that the expectation was going in, so you're proud of him. He made it. Good, man. That's all you. This is our little kid. You watch the little football and got theitis, and it was all good, so no complaints. Robodow, Douglas Grope, Mac and Cheese was on a poppin'. Hey. That's all that matters. No blue cheese in the Mac and Cheese. No blue cheese. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I know you're not about that. Yeah, sir. We got about six minutes that we'll be on time. We got an unknown text there here, 65-37. Feel free to text in 402-464-65. All your Thanksgiving takes, your Black Friday takes as far as Black Friday itself, your experiences out there and shopping, but then also the Nebraska Iowa game, and then obviously with the big news coming out of Nebraska with Tony White going to Florida State confirmed, potentially some more people, but then also we got three or four players into the portal as of today, but we have unknown text there. He said, "Talk about the landscape all you want. Big 12 is a second tier league with subpar coaching." First of all, that's 1,000% not even a correct assessment. Subpar league in coaching is if we could just run down the coaches. Lance Lappold, I'd probably say generally is probably well respected a good coach, correct? Yeah. Kansas State coach, for sure. Yeah. Okay. Climate. Climate. SNU coach. Okay. They're top eight. So, okay. So, if you want to say this, they're one year one, one year one, then so is Indiana, but it's case that they're in. Iowa State coach. First 10-minute season of program history this year. And that's literally hot seat being on a one. You know, seat warmer on one. Definitely down to zero now, but like them. Love them or hate them. Deon's a great, great coach. Dealingham just went. Dealingham is a good coach. My Gundy's well respected coach. He made some moves today too. He moved quick, happy Monday, but Dave Aranda just went 8-4. Dave Aranda. Yeah, there's a Maguire down at Texas Tech is legit. And they have a uptick in NIL because of some former players that hit it big in the West Texas oil boom out there. So, they just, you know, it's sending money. They have like a 240 million like new facility coming in. But yeah, I mean, there's, there's, there's, it's, it's not subpar coaching. I'd probably, if you say that you, about talent, it's a different league, different type of talent. But if you look at the way that, that the SEC is this year. And probably the bottom half of the Big Ten is not that bad. They're not as top heavy, obviously. But some of that's, that some of that is also, yes, you're right, SMU is in the ACC. I stand corrected. I keep thinking that they're in the because they were, because they were, they were supposed to go to Big 12, but but when you look at it, it's not as top heavy, but as deep as possible. That part, I found this here from the tailgate tent on Twitter. I was going to bring it up either if you were strict. The top five teams in the SEC, their average rank is number nine. Top five teams in the Big Ten, their average rank is number seven. Top five teams in the Big 12, their average rank is, is 19. Okay. So yeah, the top of the Big 12, not at the same level as the top of the SEC or the, the top of the Big 10. But the middle and the bottom, they try, they make the big 12. They make their hay, right? There's a lot more nine and three, eight and four in the Big 12 than there is in the Big 10. If a lot of seven and five, a lot of six and six, a lot of five and seven, the bottom of the Big 10 was atrociously bad this year. Purdue Northwestern Rutgers ended up there. Teams like that. Yeah, you have Arizona, Oklahoma State and Houston with not great records. Their numbers check out a lot better in Purdue than Rutgers do right now. And it's, you just never know, obviously the SEC and the Big 10 are you know, above them. But I don't think it's as big as a gap as it has been. And you know, it's going to go through cycles. I think we were probably snowballed in the sense of, you know, with the how great those Georgia and Alabama teams were for a decade, right? And then you sprinkle in Ohio State here and then, you know, so put your plants in there or whatever. So then you kind of get a little bit of a year off, but you know, all right, it'll be Alabama or Georgia next year. And so then then it goes directly. The next one is the Big 12. And then from the Big 12 to the ACC, there is a clear gap. So what it tells me when under my estimation, whether a year or two ago, I felt like the Big 12 and the ACC were neck and neck, and they were in a distance third and fourth. Well, Big 12 has came up and, you know, whether it's the addition in the, you know, one-off year of having some great players at Colorado or, you know, so forth and so on, BYU and all that. It's the same thing you could say because Texas got, or SEC got Texas and we got Oregon. And then, you know, obviously, Indiana is like the kind of outlier. And so we'll see. But when you look at the year the Ole Miss has, right? This is a year that they should be 11 and 1, 10 and 2. They're 9 and 3. That's the same old Miss, even though they put a ton of money into the roster. When you look at Alabama, you know, that thing was ready, made third, 9 and 3. And they do not look good as a football team. Matter of fact, they lost to a big 12 team that's newly SEC team in Oklahoma. So, you know, the former big 12 team in Texas is the best team in the SEC. So there isn't a big gap. You can't take, you can't take credit for the new teams without giving the past conference credit. Now, I do think Sark built his Texas team like an SEC team. And I do think coming from Alabama helped right. I do think Dan Lanning did the same thing going from Georgia to Oregon. But the, but the benefactors are the big 10 in the SEC. So, you know, I just think it's for a first year to have a 12 team playoff. There's a lot of parity, a lot of upsets along with hate week. There's a lot of teams that let themselves down. Listen, Miami out of any team should be flat out embarrassed. I know Georgia Tech went to battle with Georgia, but the way they've played all year, it seems like they didn't learn anything from Georgia Tech. You're allowed one off, right? Okay, you went down to Georgia Tech, fell asleep, tried to come back late, didn't make enough plays. You have 21 nothing on Syracuse on Syracuse. I don't care if they're one nine games. It's Syracuse, right? But that lets you know that there is the parity that people that there was where people thought there was years ago when it actually wasn't because it was really, really like, Bama, Georgia. It was Clemson and Bama and Bama and Georgia and then Georgia and Bama. And then obviously you had a Michigan, you know, sprinkling Michigan there. Everybody else had parity. Now the whole league, the whole power for and everybody else, there's parity everywhere. I mean, when you had Memphis, if you didn't, I watched the Memphis in Tulane game, Memphis beat the brakes off of Tulane. If Memphis doesn't have one bad loss to start the year, they're in the college football playoff. Exactly. So that lets you know that the parity is there. Now what creates parity is obviously before, you know, prior to NIO on transfer portal is the number of networks where you can get on TV. You know, back Tuesdays and Wednesdays benefits them immensely. It helps them because they get their own kind of like TV rights, right? Then you get the NIO on transfer portal. Now you're getting teams like SMU who hadn't had any financial backing into, you know, well since Craig James and Eric Dickerson was there. Now they're getting it. Now you got teams like Texas Tech getting a ton of money. Now you're getting UNLV and those people down there getting in on the, you know, when the getting's good. So now, and even now you're talking about where a team like Clemson and Davos Sweeney feels like they're on the uptick because now everybody has a so-called cap. So essentially, Davos Sweeney waited out a couple lean years, took a lot of arrows. I mean, heck, remember the one caller called in and got after when they won 11 games. And he's like, why don't you come coach and I'll go quit or whatever. Well, now he feels like now the playing field will be level. But here comes Indiana, right? Here comes Arizona State who's always kind of been a, the Herm Edwards and, you know, the peers of recruiting guys and taking them out to strip clubs and all that during COVID and all that. Then Herm's, you know, getting fired, you know, literally after his last game, walking off the field, not the tarmac. Here come these teams. So Parity is here. Boise State is here. We should say it's at least used to it. Yes, they are. They can. Yeah, they've been deviling this for a long time. But when you got like a UNLV in the top 20, at least, you know, in the coaches pole and you got a down year considering their preseason hype in Missouri, you got the two like the Army and Naval, you know, Army and Naval Academy having the type of years they have. And I already mentioned Memphis. And then you have a Syracuse squeaking in the top 25. I'm here to tell you college football parity is here. It won't go anywhere. The runs that teams usually make will only be two or three year period. And you have to, you have to in any form, like whether you go two or three years in the college football playoffs or two or three years where you're at or in or one national championship. And then there'll be a little downturn because then you'll lose coaches, you'll lose players and the amount of players that you have still to pick from that are really, really good college football players that are really, really invested is still very small. And it's going to be spread out even more. I know we're up against it here, but do you think those two or three year windows are better or worse for college athletics than the long dynasties that we've seen in the past? Well, I was a part of a long dynasty. So I'm always going to be biased towards that, but if it's your windows, no one can get you. No, but I think if you a long dynasty now will be five, if somebody can make it like a five to seven year run, you do in this day and age. Is that three titles in five or seven? At least two. At least two. Okay. And then you end the mix every single year, then you know, then you, and then you get a couple exciting plays and players and you get some legendary players or whatever. Yeah. Yeah. A Heisman or something like that, or somebody that, you know, really good. I mean, that's, that's a dynasty in this day and age. I don't think I think that with the, the, the NIL and stuff, the, the zest for winning is, is, is, definitely on the back burner. So anyways, good first segment. Appreciate you guys texting in. We encourage you guys continue texting. Obviously, we're going to dive into the Nebraska Iowa game, go through all the things that went right and what went wrong and what could have possibly changed, but ultimately where do you go from here? And obviously with news breaking today, it'll probably obviously overtake the next two hours. Jay Forman, Austin Orman, old school will, will be right back.
