David said that word, O Lord, have I hid in my heart, that I may not sin against you, how can a young man keep his way clean, by taking heed to the Word of God, bless your people this morning, encourage them lift burdens from off of their shoulders, work in their lives, work in their situations, for your glory Lord, in Jesus name, amen, good morning to you, things of the Most High God, so glad to be back with you on this morning as we continue this series, don't lose your focus, whatever it takes, whatever you have to do, don't you lose your focus, God's got a plan for you. I want to jump right into the book of Luke chapter 11 verses 5 through 13, pay attention to this, as we talk about how to get your prayers answered, I'm telling you. One of these verses literally changed my life, it literally changed my life, not only in the area of prayer, but in a whole lot of other areas, the same principle applies, especially in the area of prayer. Watch this, Luke chapter 11 beginning at verse 5, and he, Jesus said unto them, which of you, which one of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight and say unto him, friend, lend me three loaves. And I'd already got my attention man, at midnight you come in to do what, wake me up out of my sleep, oh help us Jesus, watch this, verse 6, "For a friend of mine in his journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him." I really want you to pay attention to this passage, it's very powerful, "And he from within the man on the inside shall answer and say, trouble me not, the door is now shut. And my children are with me in bed, I cannot rise and give them." I mean, you know, we raise seven kids, so when they go to bed we don't want no phone ringing, we don't want the doorbell ringing because to wake all of them kids up, Lord have mercy. So I totally can relate to this man, he's trying to get his friend, he quit talking man, he's kids asleep, and my wife is out, don't wake us and please, but watch this. Listen to what Jesus said in verse 8, that really grabs my attention. He said, "I say unto you, though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity, he will rise and give him as much as he needed." Wait a minute, he was just telling his friend, "Leave us alone, man, these kids in bed sleeping, please not now." Jesus said, "I say unto you, though he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend." The relationship is, Jesus said, "The relationship is and we're going to get you the desires of your heart." He says, "Yet because of his importunity, he will rise and give him as much as he needed." That scripture changed me and passed the Amy's life. The word importunity actually means to be persistent, it means to be unrelenting, refusal to give up, refusing to take no for an answer. That is mind boggling. Jesus said, because this man refuses to take no for an answer, Jesus said, "His friend who just told him to go away will get up and wipe his stuff on his eyes and shake sleep off and give the man as many as he needs." That one scripture changed my prayer life. I've learned to keep certain things before God, I don't care how long it takes. If you be aggressive and show God, I mean business law. Now, of course, there are some conditions, because Jesus said in John 15, 7, "If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you can ask what you will, and it shall be done, which means your prayer has to line up which scripture God is not going to give you something that's going to hurt you. He's not going to give you something that's outside of his will. This is why I believe it's Romans 12 that says, "Be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your minds so that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." First, John, up to five says, "This is the confidence," I believe it's right down there between verse 12 and 14. "This is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us, and if we know that he hears us, we have the petitions that we desire from him." Watch this. So Jesus said, in verse 9, I love it, "And I say unto you, ask, and it shall be given you seek, and you shall find knock, and it shall be open unto you." "For everyone that asks it receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth, and him that knocketh, it shall be open." What is he saying, ready to ask, and keep on asking, seek, and keep on seeking, knock, and keep on knocking. For everyone, verse 10, "Everyone that asks it receiveth, and he that seeketh findeth unto him that knocketh, it shall be open." What a mighty God. Let me read the rest of that. "If a son shall actually bread of any of you, that is a father, will he give him a stone, or if he asks for a fish, give him a serpent? Or if he asks an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" Right there he's showing you a principle. He's clearly talking about those who focus on receiving the Holy Spirit, the baptism and the Holy Ghost. He said, "God will give you what you ask for, but you've got to be persistent, and this does not only just apply to the baptism and the Holy Spirit, this applies to every area of your life." We talk about DeWittor and Lou Gaetin. She came to the unjust judge and refused to take no foreign answer. Finally the judge said, "I better answer this woman's prayer, and God wants you to have that same kind of faith. He wants you to be persistent. He wants you to be aggressive. He wants you to keep going after it until the answer comes. Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, main pastor Amy, we cover your people this morning. We thank you for encouraging them to ask again, to seek again, to knock again. The answer is on the other side of their aggressiveness. Your word says, "Without faith, it's impossible to believe." The Bible says, "Without faith, it's impossible to please God, because whoever comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." We thank you for hearing us, God. Thank you for answering our prayer. Thank you for answering the prayers of your wonderful people tuning into this broadcast. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.
