East Lancashire has been hit with a yellow weather warning for wind starting today. The Met Office has announced. The warning comes into effect at 3 p.m. and lasts until 6 a.m. on Friday. The warning covers large parts of the Northwest, including the whole of Lancashire, stretching up as far as Kumbria and parts of southwest Scotland. Delays to rail, road, air and ferry transport is likely with journey times taking longer and short-term power losses are also possible. Delays for high-sided vehicles and exposed routes and bridges are also likely. A county council has says the needs of the rural areas risk being overlooked. If the number of local authorities in Lancashire is slashed, Jed Murphin, Ribble Valley Northeast representative has set up a petition calling for a referendum before any such changes are implemented. It comes after labor MPs called on the government to create three or four new councils to replace the 15 currently serving the county as part of a push for more extensive devolution deal and the introduction of an elected mayor. If the idea were to get the go-ahead, Lancashire's 12 district authorities, including Ribble Valley Council, would disappear, along with Blackburn, with Darwin, Blackpool and Lancashire County councils. And blueprints for 57 apartments, 17 homes and a public car parking wallie have been rejected by Ribble Valley councillors who criticize the lack of any affordable homes and the development. Preston-based Oakmere Homes wanted permission for the development south of Aqrington Road in Morley. East Lancashire has been hit with a yellow weather warning for wind starting today. The Met Office has announced. The warning comes into effect at 3pm and lasts until 6am on Friday. The warning covers large parts of the Northwest including the whole of Lancashire, stretching up as far as Combre and parts of southwest Scotland. Delays to rail, road, air and ferry transport is likely, with journey times taking longer, and short-term power losses are also possible. Delays for high-sided vehicles and exposed routes and bridges are also likely. A county council has says the needs of the rural areas risk being overlooked. If the number of local authorities in Lancashire is slashed. Jed Murph in Ribble Valley Northeast representative has set up a petition calling for a referendum before any such changes are implemented. It comes after Labour MPs called on the government to create three or four new councils to replace the 15 currently serving the county as part of a push for more extensive devolution deal and the introduction of an elected mayor.
