A.P. News. I'm Ed Donahue. President Biden says badly needed military aid will soon start flowing to Ukraine. The A.P. Sagar Magani reports he signed a $95 billion war aid measure. It marks the end of a long painful fight with Republicans. "Now we need to move fast and we are." The Pentagon will start sending a billion dollars an aid to Ukraine, everything from air defense systems to artillery rounds to armored vehicles. The package also includes a military aid to Israel and a big boost in humanitarian help for Gaza. "An Israel must make sure all this aid reaches the Palestinians in Gaza without delay." Also tucked into the bill, a provision requiring social media site TikTok to either be sold or banned in the U.S. Sagar Magani at the White House. Officials say Ukraine is using long-range ballistic missiles supplied secretly by the U.S. in the first such strikes on Russian forces. The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff tells the A.P. the time is right to provide long-range missiles to Ukraine. The Supreme Court is listening to arguments over whether states can ban abortion even during some medical emergencies. These are states where abortion bans went into effect after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs. Wade. This case is out of Idaho. This is Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Idaho is saying unless the doctor can say in good faith that this person's death is likely as opposed to serious illness, they can't perform the abortion. 14 states now ban abortion at all stages of pregnancy with limited exceptions. It marks the first time the Supreme Court has considered a state ban since Roe was reversed. For the third time in a row, Democrats in the Arizona legislature are attempting to repeal the state's near total ban on abortion. This is A.P. News. There is an investigation of AI and Microsoft and Amazon. British competition regulators say they'll scrutinize recent artificial intelligence deals by Microsoft and Amazon over concerns that the moves could fraught competition in the AI industry. The authority ads is looking into Microsoft's partnership with Francis Mistral AI and the company's hiring of key staff from another startup, Inflection AI. The watchtogs also separately announced it's investigating Amazon's $4 billion investment in San Francisco-based Anthropic. Big tech companies have been pouring money into generative AI startups amid growing public and business interest in the technology. But the investments have also drawn attention from antitrust authorities.
