This is AP News, I'm Rita Falle. Before the Supreme Court this morning, a question about abortion bans in states and emergency care. The AP's Donna Warder. Fourteen states now ban abortion at all stages of pregnancy, with limited exceptions. The Biden administration argues that even in those states, federal health care law says hospitals must be allowed to terminate pregnancies. When a patient's life or health is at serious risk, the case being argued today comes from Idaho, which contends that its abortion ban does have exceptions for life-saving procedures, but that allowing it in more medical emergencies would turn hospitals into abortion enclaves. The High Court is expected to rule by the end of June. Donna Warder, Washington. Doctors have transplanted a pig kidney into a New Jersey woman who was near death. Part of a dramatic pair of surgeries that also stabilized her failing heart. They say she's recovering well this morning. Today, President Biden's signature will make it official. New rules will start taking effect that require airlines to automatically issue cash refunds for things like delayed flights and to be more clear about fees for baggage or canceling a reservation. With this, Tesla's first-quarter net income plummeted 55 percent as following global sales and price cuts sliced into the electric vehicle maker's revenue and profit margin. Tesla said it made $1.13 billion from January through March compared with $2.51 billion in the same period a year ago. It was $21.3 billion down 9 percent from last year as worldwide sales dropped nearly 9 percent due to increased competition and slowing demand for electric vehicles. The company also repeated that vehicle sales growth may be notably lower this year than last as it works on the launch of its next-generation vehicle. I'm Norman Hall.
