Brad and John - Mornings on KISM
animals polar
[MUSIC PLAYING] All new tonight, we don't know what he's angry about. A turkey on the attack. Animals attack. It just jumps up and bites me, and I'm like, oh, my gosh. I just got bit by a buddy. With Brad and John. There's the monkey on the front porch. K-I-S-M. Hey, crawl jumped up my back and landed on my head. Brad handfuls of hair and just ripped it out. Yeah, animals attack. These are real animal attack stories. We do not embellish the facts of these stories in any way. However, we may engage in reckless speculation. Our teeth are chattering this morning over the prospects of what could have happened to this guy. Our animal this morning. Oh, that's the polar bear. And we got to thank our guy up in the Great White North J. I believe he sent this down to us earlier in the week as he was the first to alert it to us. And now it's popping up all over the place. About a story transpired earlier in the week. I think it was Tuesday in the northern parts of Ontario, where a man from Canada ended up having to defend his wife from a polar bear attack at five o'clock in the morning. He leapt on the back of a polar bear that was pouncing on to his wife when it was getting ready to maul his wife. And he ended up getting the worst of it. He jumps on the back of this thing. Five o'clock in the morning, we're at the Fort Severn First Nation, small community of about 400 people in the far north of Ontario. It's about five in the morning, and they had let their dogs out, you know, as you do early in the morning. And they're wondering why the dogs haven't come back, so they've stepped out under the driveway to call for the dogs. And that's when the polar bear lunges at this man's wife. She slips and goes to the ground, and he's got to think, what do I do now? He doesn't even hesitate, John. He jumps on the back of the polar bear and starts riding this thing, starts wrestling it. - I wonder if for like a moment after he jumped on it, I was like, ooh, this is actually kind of comfortable. This is strong. - If I can make a rug out this is gonna be nice. - Yeah, it's gonna be nice. We're gonna have a nice Christmas. - Now what is a polar bear way? - Well, I don't know, but probably a speck on the back of this thing. - Oh, I'm sure like a tick or something. - A polar bear way. What do you think? I'll tell you here. What do you think? Oh my gosh. - Well, when you-- - 990 pounds. - 990 pounds, oh my gosh. - Well, that's probably why they say if it's brown, lay down, if it's black, fight back, if it's white, good night. But this guy-- - 990, he weighs, let's say weighs 220 pounds. - Well, the folks, the bear people out there say, you know, if a bear is going to attack like that, that means if a polar bear attacks, that means it's often hungry, young, or unwell, or maybe all three. But this, you know, polar bear shows, but this dude's driveway, and so he jumps on it. And to prevent the attack, and then the bear turns on him, causing serious, but non-life-threatening injuries to his arms and legs, that's when a neighbor comes over with a gun, shot the bear several times, it runs off into the woods. - I would think several times is what you need to take down something that weighs almost 1,000 pounds. - And then so it runs off into the woods where they say it died of its injuries, and then you're in a town of 400 people. I don't think they've got the medical equipment there to, you know, patch you back up after, you know, wrestling a polar bear. So he was transported to a community nursing station where he was treated for his injuries. They say they continued to patrol the area to ensure there were no other polar bears around. They didn't see any, and it sounds like this guy is going to make it out of there. And he's got, he's got a story to tell, and I think he's got the ace card to lay down any time. There's some kind of argument or something going on in the house. - Yeah, I took on a polar bear for you once. Remember that? I got your back. - See this scar right here? You remember what that's from? - All right, well, anyone in our audience, so we have a pretty vast audience. A lot of folks will experience up there in the Great White North. Anybody's got a polar bear encounter story, a brush with polar bears first hand, first hand, brush with polar bear 36073354766. [BLANK_AUDIO]
