"Alright, we're all set for the party. I've trimmed the tree, hung the mistletoe, and paired all those weird-shaped knives and forks with the appropriate cheeses. And I plugged in the Bartetian." "Bartetian?" "It's a home cocktail maker that makes over 60 premium cocktails, plus a whole lot of seasonal favorites too. I just got it for 50 off. So, how 'bout a clasma-palatin? Or a mistletoe margarita?" "I'm thirsty." "Watch." "I just pop in a capsule, choose my strength, and…" "Wow. It's beginning to feel more seasonal in here already." If your holiday party doesn't have a bartender, then you become the bartender. Unless you've got a Bartetian, because Bartetian crafts every cocktail perfectly, in as little as 30 seconds. Nearly five months after the first assassination attempt of now President-elect Donald Trump, the bipartisan task force investigating the cases are approving their final reports. Joining us now in the KOA, Kamaspira Health Hotline, the ranking member of the task force, Colorado Congressman Jason Crow. Congressman, thanks for joining us short notice. We just wanted to talk with you about this report. What can you tell us about the final report? I know you've been very critical about the failures of the Secret Service. Well, good morning to both of you. I'm really happy to come on and talk about this. Yeah, this was a failure at multiple levels. Something like this should never have happened. The shooter never should have been able to get as close to the President-elect as he did. Certainly shouldn't have been able to get a shot off. It was a series of what I've called cascading failures that really started with a cultural breakdown, a communication and command and control breakdown. There were numerous points at which agents, both local law enforcement and federal law enforcement could have stopped this from happening. Congressman Crow, it sounds like the House hearing on the Secret Service response became heated at times. What happened there? What were some of the frustrations that were being said? No, it really wasn't heated. It was an almost two hour hearing. Two minutes of it was an exchange between one of the members of the task force and the acting director of the Secret Service, where emotions got high because it had to do with 9/11. The acting director was the first responder on 9/11 and responded to that terrible day. Obviously, there are some emotions that go along with that. But the rest of the almost 100 minutes of the hearing were extremely productive, very focused, very serious. I would encourage anyone to actually, if they are interested in this issue, to actually watch this hearing, go and Google it and look at the hearing and read our report, which is going to be released here in a couple of days. It really tells a comprehensive story of what happened and what didn't happen and provides a lot of the answers that no people are asking. What is the biggest change? Is it just an overhaul, the Secret Service, the leadership, but what is the one thing that can be done immediately to prevent this from happening again? Immediately, there needs to be accountability. There's a whole set of things that there's not need to be policy changes. There doesn't need to be restructuring. They literally just need to do what they are supposed to do and follow their own procedures and guidelines and protocol. That's a leadership function. A number of the supervising and senior agents that were responsible that they have been put on the Ministry of Leave and the Secret Service will have to address their long-term careers. Just letting folks know that this is a no-fail mission, the mission of the Secret Service is to protect our highest level candidates and our highest elected officials. Every day, they have to show up and they have to be perfect. I know that's tough. I know that's challenging, but that's what you do. You don't get into that line of work to have it be easy. Just reestablishing that culture of accountability and excellence is really key here. Congressman Crowe, you mentioned that the full report will be released in a couple of days. What happens from there? What do you hope happens when it gets put forth to the full house? Well, we're going to have folks will see in this report that we have come up with a lot of very specific recommendations. I don't have time and I don't have interest in actually just criticizing people. That actually is not productive. We certainly go through our findings and we talk about what went wrong, but we actually have very specific recommendations for things that need to be changed. From training to accountability to the structure of the Secret Service, to the paradigm with which they provide protection to these dignitaries of very specific stuff. We're going to go into the next Congress. You might, Kelly, the chairman of the task force and Republican from Butler, who was actually born and raised in Butler, Pennsylvania, which is district where the shooting occurred. We are allowed to work hand and glove together the next Congress to actually legislate and from our Persian Congress make the changes that are necessary both for resources but also structure in training and accountability to make sure that Americans have the Secret Service that they deserve to have and our elected officials are protected. Final question. We've got so many things. I'd love to get to with you that are adjacent to this topic but specific to this. We'll have you on again and excuse my ignorance on this but is the head of the Secret Service? Is that a presidential or political appointment? It is. The president elect has to make a very important decision about who this is going to be and I think this is a serious decision. I hope that the president elect appoints somebody who not just has the experience and expertise but has the leadership experience to turn an organization around. We're talking about skill sets for what are needed in a certain position. This is not just maintaining the status quo and keeping it going as is. You need somebody that has an experience reforming an organization and that's a very different skill set. I hope you can find somebody that has the ability to do that. Congressman Jason Crow, thank you so much for joining us on such last minute. We really appreciate it. Yeah, it's good chatting with you all. Alright, we're all set for the party. I've trimmed the tree, hung the mistletoe and paired all those weird shaped knives and forks with the appropriate cheeses and I plugged in the partition.
