AP News. I'm Ben Thomas. The Supreme Court's heard arguments over whether former President Trump can be prosecuted over charges he sought to overturn the 2020 election results. Our Mark Sherman was at the court. The court seemed to reject Trump's claim that he is absolutely immune from prosecution. It also did not seem to embrace the Justice Department's argument that the trial should go ahead quickly and that the justices should simply agree with what lower courts have decided and that there is no immunity. Some justices seem to feel that former presidents are sometimes immune from prosecution and exactly when and where it might be a subject of debate. New York's highest court overturned Harvey Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction ruling the judge prejudiced him with improper rulings. The court of appeals ordered a new trial. More students have been arrested on college campuses as protests against the Israel-Hamas War spread. Jackie Quinn reports on the latest at the University of Southern California. Student demonstrations and tensions are growing on the Los Angeles campus. USC has announced the big May 10th commencement ceremony is now canceled. It comes a day after 90 people were arrested on campus, one was cited for having a weapon. There will still be dozens of individual school ceremonies that day with caps, gowns and diplomas. But the main event is canceled as was the valedictorian speech announced last week, prompting anger among some students like Isabel Griggs. USC is among some of the universities around the country calling in police to break up some demonstrations. I'm Jackie Quinn. The U.S. economy slowed sharply in the first quarter, growing at a 1.6 percent annual pace that led to a down day on Wall Street. The S&P fell 0.5 percent. This is AP News. The first cargo ship has passed through a newly opened deepwater channel in Baltimore. The ship had been stuck in the harbor since the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed four weeks ago. In preparations are underway at the Kennedy Space Center for the launch of a Boeing spacecraft. Norman Hall has a report. The two NASA astronauts assigned to Boeing's first human space flight have arrived at their launch site just over a week before their schedule liftoff. Butch Wilmore and Sonny Williams will serve as test pilots for Boeing's Starliner capsule, which is making its debut with crew after years of delay. Due to blast-off May 6 atop an Atlas rocket, the Starliner will fly to the International Space Station for a week-long shakedown cruise. Everything is trying to catch up to SpaceX, which has been launching astronauts for NASA since 2020. No one was aboard Boeing's two previous Starliner test flights.
