AP News, I'm Ben Thomas. Shoot out in Charlotte, North Carolina. Please, Chief Johnny Jennings. There were three members of the U.S. Marshall's Task Force who were pronounced deceased and there were four CMPD officers who were shot, one being in critical condition who is now in the hospital fighting for his life. A suspect was also killed. Jackie Quinn has more. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Chief says the officers were immediately fired on when they approached the home to bring a wanted armed felon into custody. Police shot one suspect in the front yard, but then more shots were fired from inside the house. After a three-hour standoff, a SWAT team made entry. Two people inside are being questioned. I'm Jackie Quinn. In Arizona, prosecutors say they will not retry a rancher in the fatal shooting of a Mexican man on his property near the U.S.-Mexico border. His initial trial ended last week with a deadlock jury. Pressure for a ceasefire deal in Gaza. Hamas officials are in Egypt to discuss a new proposal in which Israel has reportedly lowered the number of hostages to be freed in its initial phase. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. The onus is indeed on Hamas. There is a deal on the table and they need to take it. In the meantime, Charles Doula Desma reports "Israeli officials appear increasingly concerned the International Criminal Court may issue arrest warrants against the country's leaders, Israeli officials, have referred in recent days to an ICC probe launch three years ago into possible war crimes committed by Israel and Palestinian militants, going back to the 2014 Israel-Hamas War. That probe is also looking at Israel's construction of settlements in occupied territory." I'm Charles Doula Desma. Stocks started the week with gains. The S&P and the Nasdaq each adding 0.3 percent. That add 146 points or 0.4 percent. This is AP News. The Timberwolves moving on to round two of the NBA's playoffs. It was the Ant and Cat Show as the Timberwolves beat the Suns 122-116 to complete a four-game first-round sweep. Anthony Edwards scored 31 of his team high 40 points in the second half. The first half, you know, I got all my teammates involved and that was pretty much the game plan. Get everybody involved and in the second half, it's time to win at that point. So, I mean, I got to shoot my shots and keep confidence in myself and I got to shoot better from the free throw line for sure. Edwards was 7 to 13 from three-point range. Carl Anthony Towns had 28 points and a team high 10 rebounds to help Minnesota withstand Devin Booker's 49 points. Jaden McDaniel's added 18 points to the victory.
