This is AP News. I'm Rita Falle. Police moved in on pro-Palestinian protesters this morning on the campus of UCLA. Flash bangs as officers removed barricades and started to dismantle an encampment. Some people were detained, arrests are continuing on campuses around the nation. The AP's Jennifer King, with the latest on all of this. From November to the scene. Organizers of the protests say it's a peaceful movement aimed at defending Palestinian rights and protesting the war. At UCLA, Chancellor Gene Block said that a group of instigators had perpetrated fighting that broke out. At University of Wisconsin, in Madison, a scrum broke out early Wednesday. Four officers were injured. At Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, an encampment was dismantled and there were clashes as protesters were arrested for violating a ban on tents on the campus lawn. I'm Jennifer King. New This Morning, Hamas says it will send a delegation to Egypt as soon as possible to continue those ceasefire talks, a response to the latest proposal. Donald Trump's back in court this morning in New York for his hush money trial, saying just before going into the courtroom. We're down at the trial now, getting ready to spend another day in the courthouse, which is bogus trial that every leading authority or law says should never have been brought. He could face more sanctions over another round of alleged gag order violations. In Washington, a group of senators from both parties is pushing for restrictions on the use of facial recognition technology by the TSA. The lawmakers say they're concerned about travelers' privacy and civil liberties. The number of Americans applying for unemployment was unchanged last week and remains historically low. Though companies have been announcing more job cuts recently, Google parent company Alphabet, Apple and eBay have all announced layoffs recently. This is AP News. So, what's the Fed doing about interest rates? The AP's Sagar Magani. The Federal Reserve is keeping interest rates at a two-decade high amid a run of hotter than expected inflation reports. The Fed had believed inflation was steadily easing. But in recent months, inflation has shown a lack of further progress toward our 2% objective. And Chair Jerome Powell says it will need greater confidence prices are slowing toward that goal before cutting rates. I don't know exactly when that will be. He says the Fed's prepared to keep the rates where they are as long as needed. After just six weeks ago, projecting three rate cuts this year. Some Fed officials have speculated rates may not be high enough to curb the economy and inflation. But Powell's dismissing that. I think it's unlikely that the next policy rate move will be a hike.
