Flash bangs going off this morning on the campus of UCLA, where police moved in and started taking down barricades and dismantling a pro-Palestinian demonstrators encampment, after protesters defied police orders to leave. The AP's Jennifer King. A huge number of pro-Palestinian protesters stayed on the UCLA campus early Thursday after police ordered them to leave. A night earlier, counter-demonstrators attacked the protesters' encampment. Political leaders, Muslim students and advocacy groups criticized authorities for not responding strongly enough. This morning, police detained some people on campus, tying their wrists with zip ties. Meanwhile overseas, Hamas is considering the latest proposal for a ceasefire with Israel. The AP's Karen Shamos. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has pressed on Hamas to accept the latest ceasefire deal with Israel. The deal would temporarily pause Israel's offensive in Gaza and see a release of Israeli hostages still held in the enclave. However, talks are not moving forward due to a key sticking point, whether the deal would completely end Israel's offensive, as Hamas has demanded. Throughout months of talks, Hamas has said the freeing of all hostages it holds must bring a permanent halt to the war, and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza. In public, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has staunchly rejected stopping the war before Hamas is destroyed, and he repeated his vow to launch the offensive on rougher, where 1.4 million Palestinians are sheltering. I'm Karen Shamos. Donald Trump's Hush Money Trial resumes this morning in New York. Ukrainian soldiers are talking about the fortifications they need as they battle the Russians. The Ukrainians say the fortifications are not being built quickly enough. Many say they should have been built last year, not in the heat of battle now. This is AP News.
