This is AP News. I'm Rita Falle. On the UCLA campus this morning, the sound of flash bangs as police move in on a pro-Palestinian demonstrators encampment. Earlier this morning, protesters yelled "Shame on you!" and tossed water bottles. The AP's Jennifer King on the campus protests around the nation. The AP has tallied over 1,600 arrests at at least 30 college campuses as police cracked down on encampments of mostly pro-Palestinian demonstrators. Organizers of the protests say it's a peaceful movement aimed at defending Palestinian rights and protesting the war. At UCLA, Chancellor Jean Block said that a group of instigators had perpetrated fighting that broke out. Hundreds of students and alumni remained gathered in the encampment after reconstructing barricades, despite the arrival of large numbers of police with riot gear. At University of Wisconsin, in Madison, a scrum broke out early Wednesday, four officers were injured. At Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, an encampment was dismantled and there were clashes as protesters were arrested for violating a ban on tents on the campus lawn. I'm Jennifer King. A Civil War-era abortion ban is fading into history in Arizona. The AP's Donna Warder. Arizona Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs plans today to sign a bill that repeals a state ban on nearly all abortions. The bill passed the Senate Wednesday when two GOP lawmakers joined with Democrat. The old ban allowed abortions only to save the life of the patient, not for cases of rape or incest. Now, a 2022 statute banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy will become Arizona's prevailing abortion law. I'm Donna Warder. Donald Trump expected back in court today as his hush money trial resumes in New York. In Ukraine, soldiers say they're worried that fortifications are not being built fast enough to stop the Russians who continue to advance along the front lines. This is AP News. The AP's Margie Zarletta now with word of the death of a music legend. Pioneering rock guitarist Dwayne Eddy has died of cancer in Franklin, Tennessee, according to his wife, Eddy was 86. It's hard to talk about Dwayne Eddy's music and not use the word twang. Eddy himself told the Associated Press in 1993 it's a silly name for a non-silly thing. Eddy's hits in the 1950s and 60s include Rebel Rouser because they're young, 40 miles of bad road and Peter Gunn. Eddy was a guitar player, not a vocalist. He said in 1986 one of his biggest contributions to music was not singing. I'm Margie Zarletta. A European court is upholding Eddy's right to seize an ancient Greek statue from the J. Paul Getty Museum in California ruling that Eddy was right to try to reclaim an important part of its cultural heritage and rejecting the museum's appeal. I'm Rita Foley, AP News.
