The defense had Hicks telling jurors Trump was more worried about hurting his family. After court, "I'm not allowed to comment on any of that because you know I'm under a gag order." Before joining for the week, Judge Juan Mershan denied a request by prosecutors that they be allowed to ask Trump should he choose to testify about being held in contempt of court for the gag order violations. Police ordered pro-Palestinian protesters to abandon a tent in encampment at New York University, arresting about a dozen who refused. Police crackdowns at college campuses nationwide have resulted in more than 2,300 arrests. Meantime efforts to broker a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas continue, an Egyptian official says Hamas is seeking "firmer language" to ensure a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and an end to its offensive. The nation's employers pulled back hiring in April but still added a decent 175,000 jobs to guss-foche PNC financial services. "The economy is still growing but at a slower pace because of higher borrowing costs. You know, the month to month the numbers vary. But I think we will see job growth, you know, close to this range going forward, and that is in part because it's more expensive to borrow and that's dampening activity in some interest rate sensitive industries."
