AP News. I'm Ed Donohue. In New York, Judge Juan Mershan called a sudden recess in former President Donald Trump's Hush Money trial after Hope Hicks began crying on the witness stand. The former aide broke down after cross-examination reflecting on her time at the Trump Organization. Hicks testified she spoke with Donald Trump in 2016. The day after the Wall Street Journal article on Karen McDougall's Hush Money deal was published. Hicks also testified she asked Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner to try to delay publication of the story. A jury has ruled against the state of New Hampshire in a landmark abuse case involving the Youth Development Center in Manchester. A jury has awarded abuse victim and whistleblower David Meehan $38 million, finding that state negligence contributed to his being beaten, raped and held in solitary confinement when he was a teen. Meehan's attorneys accused New Hampshire officials of encouraging a culture of brutality, corruption and a code of silence while the state questioned Meehan's credibility. Since 2017, when Meehan first alleged abuse, more than a thousand other former detention center residents have also sued and 11 former workers have been arrested. I'm Jackie Quinn. Police in Canada say they've made three arrests in last year's killing of a Sikh separatist near Vancouver. After a arrest at pro-Palestinian demonstrations at UCLA, student Gabby Lazry, who is Jewish, says these protests are personal. Samantha Jare gets emotional recalling the events of October 25th when Robert Card killed eight people at the bowling alley before driving to a nearby bar in Poole Hall where he killed 10 more. It was the deadliest shooting in state history. Justin Jare was initially dead set against reopening, but says people in Lewiston rallied behind them. Tom Jiberte, who was shot in the legs but is credited with saving the lives of at least four children, says a lot of people in Lewiston helped get the venue reopened. I'm Jennifer King.
