AP News. I'm Ed Donny. Stocks are higher on Wall Street in the early going, based on a Labor Department report that shows a cooling of job growth last month. 175,000 jobs were added. PNC Financials Gus Voche says this is a good report. This is close to the pace that the economy can add jobs without leading to high inflation. So this is a good number from the Federal Reserve's perspective. The Fed has been delaying any consideration of interest rate cuts until it gains more confidence. Inflation is steadily slowing toward its 2% target. Hope Hicks is on the witness stand at former President Donald Trump's Hush Money trial in New York. Prosecutors are expected to question the long-time Trump advisor about her knowledge of Hush Money payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign. Before entering court, Donald Trump talked about the gag order against him. The gag order is not for testimony. The gag order starts to be from talking about people and responding when they say things about me. We have people saying things about me and I'm not allowed to respond. So this judge is taking away my constitutional right. An official with USAID says the U.S. expects to have on-the-ground arrangements in Gaza ready for humanitarian workers to start delivering food, treatment for starving children, and other urgent assistance by early to mid-month when the American military expects to complete a floating peer for the effort. Police have cleared pro-Palestinian protesters out of a tent encampment at New York University. The move follows weeks of demonstrations and police confrontations at college campuses around the country that have resulted in more than 2300 arrests. Britain's governing conservative party is suffering heavy losses as local election results are pouring in. The results in our cementing expectations, the Labor Party, is headed for power for the first time in 14 years. The results overall make for grim reading for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. This is AP News. The population of sea lions is booming at a peer in San Francisco. On Fisherman's War Pier 39, on most days, more than 100 sea lions can be seen lounging on barges and making a lot of noise. The numbers that we're seeing right now are over a thousand. We've counted them. That's the most seen there in 15 years. Harbourmaster Sheila Shandor says the lure is the cuisine. There's a huge school of anchovy that was off the Fairlawn Islands. It's in the bay right now, so it's all about the seafood. Shandor also points out it's mating season. They're ready to rock and roll down in the Channel Islands, and we're a nice little pit stop with some great seafood. More sea lions bring out more tourists, like Teresa Sinbeck from Germany. It's very loud, of course, but it's really nice to see all of them, and it's funny to watch them fight and relax in the sun. The spike in the sea lion population in San Francisco is expected to be only temporary. I'm Ed Donahue, AP News. When everyone is on the same page, getting things done at work is easy.
