On October 7, meanwhile, Hamas has said it is sending a delegation to Cairo to continue working on ceasefire negotiations. The talks come as thousands of students across the U.S. held demonstrations against Israel's offensive. In Gaza, I'm Karen Shamas. Police have arrested nearly 2,200 people during those pro-Palestinian protests at college campuses across the United States. Now some universities with weekend graduation ceremonies are taking steps to keep a lid on some possible disruptions. Some residents in the Houston area have been told to evacuate after heavy rain flooded streets, stranded drivers, and shut down schools. One local official calling it a life-threatening situation. It's a main highway along the east coast. Now part of I-95 in Connecticut will be closed for days because of a three vehicle crash involving a tanker truck. No serious injuries. This is a major commuter route, though, when it may also affect consumers, says the AP's Patty and Rob, who is in Connecticut. The biggest problem will be shipping product. Obviously, this is the major artery into and out of New England. They will be able to ship things. They may have to do a lot more by rail. They may have to go through long island sound on actual ships, or they're going to have to have the trucks make big detours. The IRS says that it's taken steps to address a wide disparity in audit rates between black taxpayers and other filers. A study from January 2023 involving university researchers and the Treasury Department found that IRS data-driven algorithms selected black taxpayers for auditing up to 4.7 times the rate of non-black taxpayers. Officials with the IRS said that discriminatory audits degrade trust in the tax system. Additionally, the IRS said that it plans to raise audit rates on companies with assets above $250 million to 22.6 percent in 2026. That's up from an 8.8 percent rate in the tax year 2019.
